This is a world where loyalty is constantly tested, around every corner there lurks yet more depravity, and love knows absolutely no bounds, the dedication they have to keep Ebony safe and alive could be the very thing that ultimately seals her very fate.

Veiled Obsessions is a standalone novel but you will find that it does have cross-over characters from the Grimmville world.
This book is written and intended for mature audiences – please find a full list of trigger and content warnings on the author's website.
Veiled Obsessions by Billie Jade Kermack is a standalone novel. But, one of the things that I did like about it was that you got the chance to see characters from the Grimmville world cross over and make an appearance in this book. That was really a very cool concept and I really enjoyed that. Although, you don't have to have read anything in the Grimmville world to enjoy this book.
I found that the synopsis of this book really carried everything, or at least all of the main elements of what was going to happen in this book. I found the synopsis to be well-written, and detailed, and had a great overview of what to expect from the book and what you were going to be reading and I enjoyed that. I actually really enjoy it when an author gives us such a detailed synopsis. It really helps to set the mood of the book and what you are going to be walking into when you start the book.
I love how this book is not only dark, but it is also full of angst and spice. I found Ebony to be tough, intelligent, strong, and resilient, and yet she still had this sweet and vulnerable side too. There were some instances where I found that she was cautious and careful, not wanting to walk into danger too quickly and in others you found yourself if she had any self-preservation instincts.
Caleb, now he's the one who you would call the brooding bad boy. And you can tell that his feelings when it comes to Ebony are there 100% and for him, there is this very fine line between love and hate, even while he's trying to process what it means to have Ebony back in their lives.
Between Caleb and Cooper, Cooper is the more easygoing and laid-back of the two. He can be a bit funny when humor really isn't warranted. And between him and his brother, Cooper is more than happy to forgive Ebony and just let go of all the negative feelings that he's been holding onto for far too long.
Both Cooper and Caleb are what you would call unhinged. They give a new definition to the idea of “touch her and unalive” and oh my word, the chemistry between the three of them is out of this world. And the comfort that Ebony gets from them and they get from her, the author portrayed this beautifully.
On top of all of this, you add in the serial killer running loose adds an entirely new level of suspense and intrigue to this book that just blew my mind and kept me enthralled. I kinda thought I might know who the killer was part way through the book, and then when the reveal happened and I was right, but also wrong, it was nice because it gave me this pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting. The ending was shocking, to say the least and I loved it to pieces.
I can't say enough good things about this book and I really can't recommend it enough. Billie Jade Kermack just did a phenomenal job writing this book and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. And I highly recommend you read and follow Billie Jade Kermack, she is quickly becoming another of my favorite authors to watch out for and read.
