Following a tragedy, Rivka leaves her Orthodox Jewish community in New York for the first time to spend a summer studying at a remote seminary in rural Indiana. Once there, Rivka and her roommate learn the ways of Jewish mysticism, the Kabbalah. After being approached by a young Ethiopian orphan who is on the run from the mysterious local community, the girls delve into the ancient secrets of Judaism to protect not only this innocent girl but also themselves.
