“This series MUST continue!” ★★★★★

The Beginning of the End has never been so bittersweet…

In the wake of their latest battle against Ba’al, one thing has become clear to Artemus Steele and his companions. The demonic organization is intent on dragging Drake Hunter to Hell, come what may. While Karl LeBlanc’s warning continues to preoccupy Artemus and the other Guardians, strange earthquakes rock the four continents, the origins of which turn out to be more sinister than anyone could have anticipated. After an unexpected attack brings them face to face with an enemy they cannot defeat, they realize they could very well lose the war against Ba’al. But when a fallen archangel turns up on their doorstep with a new Guardian in tow, all bets are off.

Having walked the Earth for thousands of years to atone for his sins, Solomon Weiss becomes the custodian of Jacob Schroeder, a young boy he discovers in the desert. Conscious that Jacob is host to a powerful divine beast, the former archangel brings the child to Chicago to meet his kin and to seek Artemus and the Guardians’ help in stopping the opening of Jacob’s gate. As Ba’al renews its attacks on Artemus and his companions, the suspicion Solomon has always harbored about his connection with Jacob is borne out, while the true nature of what links Artemus, Drake, and Smokey finally becomes shockingly clear.

Will Hell claim Drake as it has always intended? Or can Solomon and Jacob tip the scales and help Artemus and the Guardians save the dark angel from his grim fate?

This was....incredibly bad.
Like, the whole series was going downhill long before that, I don't think I have actually enjoyed it much since the 3rd or 4th book, but still had some hopes, but boy, were they absolutely murdered.
I don't know even what to say. Perhaps most telling is that I can say that the plot is that something demonic in nature happens, there is a new Guardian, even more powerful than the previous ones, who were already overpowered, the two twin "angels" are even more powerful, and yet they face another mortal battle...and yet no one dies! How can reasonable readers, looking for a good and exciting plot still care about those books? No one dies, no one suffers much lasting damage, no one! I was actually quite hopeful when Serena died, finally some actual suspense..but no, she was right as rain in the next scene. Even if the way she was saved made no sense. In the final battle they faced 100 absolutely fearsome warriors, along with two of the most powerful demons ever...and they had no troubles whatsoever...even with a "half a minute" kiss between two of the characters, even though they were under constant assault. Seriously, I rarely judge what other people read, but all of you probably watch soap operas and find them the pinnacle of cinematic excellence. The humour had its good moments from time to time, but was so overdone in other moments, and it is hard to care even for a single character, when they seem to no longer matter, everyone survives, everyone is in love with another one, besides Artemis, but we arelady know that there is the mysterious girl for him, so all is good. Why should people care to read the last book? I can tell you what happens, there would be a guardian, he will be very powerful, our protagonists will suffer some setbacks, but ultimately they will find the strength to win without suffering any losses, they will kiss afterwards, joke and all would be lovely.
There is a lot of "chin/head dipping" (nodding, the word is nodding, nod. People can nod from time to time, they do not need to "dip their chin" every time), murmuring (what is the author's obsession with that word?), muscles jumping in cheeks, etc. You know the drill by now.

God, I had such hopes for the series.

This sixth book in the series was a non-stop rollercoaster ride of excitement. Definitely the best in the series so far, and the rest of them have been a truly awesome; the humorous moments are just too perfect. Major cliff-hanger at the end, so, very glad we don’t have long to wait for books seven. Fab stuff!

I am trying to figure out if this series is supposed to be in a universe that is different from ours. The term “four continents” was used. Everyone that has been to primary school knows there are 7. Looking it up in the 16th century that was how many they thought there was. North and South America were one, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Why the last two weren’t considered one I don’t know. For gosh sakes the Americas are connected by a tiny isthmus, whereas the other two have a whole mountain range. Obviously Australia wouldn’t be “discovered” for another hundred years, and Antarctica a bit longer. I’m sorry all that has nothing to do with the actual book, but errors like that pull me out of the story completely. I actually considered lowering the grade to a three since there were other grammatical inconsistencies. I don’t know if it is an American English versus the English the author was taught. That English wasn’t the Queen’s (now King’s, which sounds so wrong to say) English. The fact that I keep reading because the story itself is so engaging kept it a four. This time we get one of my favorite Immortals. I do wish when the kids’ names are mentioned we get an explicit description of whose kids they are. Even if it should be obvious it has been a bit of time since the last series and these kids didn’t exist then. All of these new names just need a family tree showing who is related to whom. The new Guardian’s tale is so sad. Meanwhile their beast surprised me. I was on the wrong track about who it would be. Fair warning, this is the first book that has a true cliff-hanger. All of the books have been cliff-hangers in the truest sense as the story-line wasn’t over. This time I would think the next book will take place immediately after.

I didn’t think these stories could get any better, but this just did! More battles more humour and so much more heartache, I’m weeping now.
My favourite Motley crew just got a little bit more serious, still as funny as ever though and they gel really nicely together.
And of all things to join this crew? A Demon of all things, he brings a young boy Jacob to join Artemus and his gang.
So much to say, but so much is full of spoilers, I’ll just say AD, you had me going ballistic at you and asking why?why would you do that?
Full of fun times, sad times, battle times, non stop the whole way through.
I received this as an eARC for a voluntary review.
Needless to say I have preordered the book and can’t wait, but am also dreading the final instalment of the Legion series. Excellent.

Ms. Starrling has created characters that bring you into the story that makes you hope for the best, and root for the good guys, but then, who is good or who is bad, what does that really mean? Don't we all have a little bad in each of us? This book continues the story arc in a style that gives you a feeling of accomplishment and leaves you wanting to know how it ends! Yes, some sad moments, but the feeling of family pulling together to work it out and overcome the odds stacked against them is very enjoyable to read. Well done! Looking forward to see how it all ends!

Action packed and full of surprises! This one has to be the best one of the series. The group has some new changes and unexpected allies. Those allies are surprising. But they make it very interesting. I was on the edge of my seat. Now I can't wait to see what the final book will bring. I will be sad to see the series end with the next book, but all good things must end sometime.

Something strange is happen in Chicago, Artemus has a very bad feeling the end is near and new gates are being revealed. Artemus can't face the truth, but he's not given a choice. New characters are being introduced as the final battle is approaching and the plot is more and more suspenseful. The action doesn't stop as they race to the end. This series has been a wild ride, I'm looking forward to the last book.

Another fantastic book in this series by Ms. Starrling! Artemus and the gang are getting closer to their final battle. New characters and a few twists you didn't see coming made this another 5 star read for me. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out in the next and final book and I cannot wait! If you're into urban fantasy/supernatural, the Legion series is a must-read!

This book grabbed my attention from the first chapter. The story continues the challenges faced by Artemus and the guardians with several unexpected twists. The characters still have snarky comments to each other but they have grown as a family and that comes across very well. I’m eagerly, impatiently, waiting for the last book!

Don't miss this!

This just keeps getting better with each book. So much happens in the eternal war our heroes are fighting that you want to read it again right after you finish it. A new Guardian, suspense, danger.... I could go on and on. Now we have to wait for the fantastic finish!! Come on May!!!

This wonderful UF/Paranormal storyline is filled with non-stop action, plot twists, humor, heartache, and loss. The main characters are more of a family than some families and have always got one another's backs. New characters are introduced as well as more loss. I loved this book and am anxious for the next book in the series. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

A great series just keeps getting better! Book 6 is the best yet (the others are great too!) Same great characters, writing and action. The interactions between the characters a great relief from the demonic battles that has us catching our breath. Massive cliff hanger at the end...bring on the next book!

So much heightened emotion in this book. I found found this series to be compelling and almost impossible to put down. I have to say I did needed tissues at times, that's how endearing this book was. I would recommend reading this series in order for the overall plot to make sense.

Nearly at the end

I can't believe this series is almost over the action has ramped up and the odds of the hero's winning are not good. Nail biting or what. I highly recommend this book and series.

Excellent Series that keeps you turning pages! Action adventure and an incredible bond between brothers that will make you cheer and cry in anguish in sympathy for their pain. The hard ending was gut wrenching, what would happen next.

So darn good

AD Starrling takes the creatures from mythology and gives them new purpose. There is laughter, tears, love and hope in finding family where you least express it. I love each character.

The action and snarky humor continues in this installment. Heir introduces us to Jacob and Solomon. Jacob is a young boy who turns out to be a guardian and Solomon is his surrogate father/protector. The story also focuses on Drake and his continued struggle with his dark side. Gertrude the chicken is back and Artemus is closer to meeting the woman in his dreams. The guardians are still close as a family and this next to last installment has so many unexpected surprises. Can’t wait for the final book to come out to see how the story ends; strongly recommend reading the Legion series!
