Overall Opinion: This was not what I was hoping it would be. I love the idea of a book having the couple fall in love in the process of their band being discovered and rising in fame, so I was certain that this was going to work well for me. It just all felt a little too immature for me. They were supposed to be college students and we had things like living at home with parents, discussing losing virginity with parent, and asking a parent to get them contraception. To me, all of that is more along the lines of high school characters. And the big drama? It was just that...dra-ma! It felt too soap-opera for my liking. I was rolling my eyes so much that I started to skim a good bit just to get past it all. The ending was extremely lackluster too. I think a jump ahead epilogue would've made a ton of difference in being able to see them as older adults and happy...but I'm a greedy, greedy reader 😜

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Mia and Jace's story. They've known each other for years because Jace is best friends and in a band with Mia's twin brother, Aiden. One vacation to celebrate the band being discovered and an avalanche has them stuck together in a cabin where things happen that change their relationship. Mia has severe crowd anxiety and Jace isn't one to have a relationship, so they start a no-strings-attached affair. Feelings start to develop, and they struggle with them as well as the idea of coming out as a couple. There are a lot of sexy times, some family and OW drama, and some sweet moments...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Mia and Jace's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. I skimmed a good bit after the 75ish% mark, because I was just bored with what was going on and found it kind of stupid tbh.

Instalove: Yes, but only because I didn't understand the progression to love.

H rating: 4 stars. Jace. I liked him. I appreciated how he cared for Mia and other people that were important to him.

h rating: 3 stars. Mia. She was ok...yep, that's it - just ok.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. There was a lot of scenes. Sometimes it did feel like the sex scenes took the place of actual feeling development.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had an abrupt ending with what I would call a HFN ending.

How I got it: It was part of my scribed subscription.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Very sweet story!!! Mia and Jace are an adorable couple - it is sweet, hot and has just the right amount of angst. HEA. Loved it.

Edited to add- the only thing that bugged me about this book is the author is clearly not American, but writing about American characters. It is a huge pet peeve of mine when a book about Americans is filled with non-American words and phrases. We don't have a good sulk, we have a good cry. We don't ask, "How are you going?" we ask, "How are you doing?" There are many other examples - not just in this book. I really wish authors would remember their settings better. That's all.

I liked it a lot!

The pace at the beginning was a little slow and I got worried that Mia was going to annoy the hell out of me but at last she thankfully didn’t.

I thought that the storyline was good, I liked all of the characters and I also really liked reading from Mia and Jace’s pov.

As for the ending I wish I got a little more insight as to how the band did on tour and if some of the couples stayed together or not. But overall it was a good read and still a good ending.

Final rating: 4 stars

One more thing:
SPOILER WARNING!!

!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!

I was afraid that after Mia got out of the coma that she wouldn’t remember her relationship with Jace like at all and that Melissa would somehow get away with what she did because of that. That made me hesitant to keep reading but I just had to to find out if she’ll get her memories back or not. I’m very very happy she did!

Nice story

Really liked the romance and the girl attitudes. The only complaint is all the f words. Just way over done and could use less sex and more story. I look forward to the next one.

Mia is adorable and Jace is a brooding sweetheart. So I obviously liked the dynamic.

Fun read and I loved the anxiety representation. I feel ya, Mia, I too cannot do crowds.

When Mia and Jace are snowed in, they spend a passionate night together, but soon they both want more even though he's her brother's best friend and an upcoming rockstar.

April 29 Edit:
So, after a re-read, I kind of had to drop the rating to 3 stars. There are a LOT of issues with this one, even though it's still engaging and grabs you from the get go.

First, some notes. If any of the following bothers you, don't read this:
* Slut Shaming (but not Manwhore shaming lol)
* Insta Love
* Characters that feel and act way older than their age.
* Stereotyping.
* Kind of framing a relationship and a man as a "cure" for anxiety, and crediting someone else for your hard work. I'm simplifying it, but sentences like "I finally had a reason to get past my anxiety." and "At the club, helping me realize I’m so much braver than I thought, and that he would always be there to protect me." in regards to Jace pissed me off. A man is no cure, and the fact she attributes HER successes and her victories to him, even though he didn't really do anything, bothered me.

Look what I found on an unpublished blog post - my book notes on this book!:

*Surprisingly, I really liked it! (Not sure why I was surprised about it haha maybe because this was a freebie?)

*I didn't know what I'd think about it at first, especially considering how much sex there is from about page one. But despite the way it came about, the book manages to make it look like something good and okay (even though I still wish there would've been less sex scenes. I mean, the first 40% were basically filled with them).

*I really loved Mia and Jace, especially together, and I'm glad he brought her out of her shell.

*Can't say the climax surprised me, but oh well.

*Loved the band, and actually one-clicked the next in the series!

*It made me smile.

*I want an Aiden story, to be honest.

Want to know if the whole series is worth reading? Read my overall review of the whole series at seriesousbookreviews.com! Spoiler Free!

This book is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me--but I loved every minute of it. It was a lot of fun to read and I liked the plot. It was a good blend of other New Adult reads that I have read over the last year.

I think it helped when I was reading this that I imagined the characters as older. They seemed like they should be in college with the way the acted at times--maybe that's just me being in her 20's but my parents wouldn't let me do half the stuff that they do; but hey, who am I to judge.

I loved the relationship between Jace and Mia and watching it unfold. And I also liked the other characters we meet. I wish the rest of the series was following the band and not necessarily Kaeli but I will be picking up the next one anyways.

Overall: I didn't take this book too seriously, I just enjoyed the ride. It was a fun, easy read that managed to suck me in and keep my interest.

Funny how life chances

This the first book from this author but it won’t be the last. Mia is in a cabin where her brother’s best friend drops off a truck. An avalanche occurs and everything changes for both. The story covers anxiety, shyness and unexpectedly falling in love.

I am an avid rock romance reader so this one caught my eye. I wasn't sure when I began but it ended up being something that you would stay up until 2 a.m. reading. You had moments when you would have a few tears fall and then others where you may laugh out loud by something someone said. That makes for a good read.

The only disappointing downside to this is that when I look at the next book in line it has nothing to do with rock romance. Don't get me wrong, I read the excerpt of Hush and it had my interest. But I definitely would be a big follower of Ms. Green if she went down the road as far as the band was concerned. I want to hear more about Jace, Mia, and Aiden along with the other guys in the band. So hoping that there will be more on the rock romance angle.

This did not work for me at all. I could not even finish it. It felt awkward from the get go and then the first time they actually talk, they end up having sex?!?!? I would not mind the insta-sex if I saw some kind of connection.

Aiden is in Mia's brother's band. In the years that Aiden has come to practice in Mia's house, she has avoided seeing Aiden. Too shy or something. I did not get her reasoning. Mia and Aiden get stuck in a house when an avalanche hits. The night they actually talk for the first time, they have sex. There was no connection. Everything felt forced and out of place. It could have been really good, but it did not work for me. I was like "huh" half the time.

I am not telling not to read it. You may love this book and it may work for you.

This book is amazing. Such a great read. This is in my loved books section. I know I will re read this book down the track. The love story of Mia and Jace and the way he heals her heart is crazy good. More than a rockstar romance. This is a story to last a life time or more. Mia's story and the way you grow to love all the friends in this book. I can't wait to read more in this Fighting Fate. There are already friends of Mia and Jace I can't wait to learn what happens. Thank you Maree Green for such a great read at .99. Crazy price for such a great book.

I really enjoyed this book. It just gave me all the warm and fuzzies. I loved it. I CANNOT wait for the next books. I really look forward to Kaeli's book and Aiden's. I went into this book just thinking that it was going to be boring and like a lot of the rest of the rockstar books out there, but I was really surprised. You could really feel like characters emotions and the author just wrote everything so well. I can't wait to read more by her!!!

I like

I liked it but didn't love it . I was hooked in the beginning, Aspen, anxiety, and an avalanche... equal a beginning to an hot and steamy relationship. The book was good and had a good details and characters but I feel as though it was extremely long drawn out book. Around the middle of the book I started to lose interest and for me that rare because I can finish a book in a day.

I don't usually read high school romance books but I have to say this one was awesome! I love how Jace was so into Miami that he did everything he could to protect her and help her through her anxiety issues it was really sweet. I also like how patient Jace was with her as she.worked through her problems. it was such a good book I've read it more then once

Great book

This was a good book.
The plot could be real, that's why I liked it. The funny thing is in every book I read the couple are always having sex, but they never bring up that she has a period. In this book it was brought up and it might be dumb but it made the story more real.

Fast-paced and edgy. I love the twintuition thing between Aiden and Mia. I love the drama and Mia and Jace's relationship. Sometimes they're really are a ton of beginnings, twists, obstacles and endings in every story. And that makes every story unique.

I like the best friends sister relationship because it's a deeper connection. The amnesia was a interesting turning point because it was so unexpected. I enjoyed the characters they were relatable.

Disclaimer: I only got through maybe 20% of the book. And after the third gratuitous sex scene and the ten millionth or so swear word, I gave up.

But if orgasming virgins and potty mouth rock band members are your thing, go for it.

Absolutely loved this book. One of the best young adult books I've read in a long time. Great storyline with fantastic characters. Would have given it 5 but the last chapter ended so quick that I didn't even realize it was over.
