Well...
I didn't really like this installment at all. I never got a sense of who Eli or Nate were. And there were inconsistencies throughout. The biggest being that they both recognize that they're mates, yet, at one point over halfway through, Eli questions why Nate would want to stick around. It was confusing and just didn't make sense.
There are a lot of errors in this book. More than normal or acceptable. And a few times, the tense changed. Also, there were some goofs regarding clothing: a character is wearing jeans, but then is in shorts a few paragraphs later; a character isn't wearing underwear, then underwear is being pulled down in the next scene. I always comment on this author's amount of errors. I've read more recent works that are written better, so I know they're growing and improving, but better proofing and editing is needed.
Another thing I've noticed with this author is the lack of lube being used. I acknowledge that as a paranormal romance, this is already not realistic, but I'd still like for the intimate aspects to be more accurate (unless I'm reading mpreg or a style of omegaverse where slick is produced). When the intimate scenes aren't realistic, it's not enjoyable for me and takes me out of the story. In this case, it's believing that a virg!n can take a huge alpha c0ck with no prep and no lube. There's no lube used at all during any encounter.
And lastly, Chance's character in this book is vastly different from what we've seen from him in his book and others. He's like aweing over the couple and "fangirling"?.... just so odd.
The story itself isn't bad, which is why I continue reading this author's works. They just need some polishing. This one is the lowest I've rated, and I've read maybe 10 books of theirs so far, typically giving a 3-4 star rating.
