The next book in the exciting new series of Scandi Noir thrillers featuring Detective Frida Skardet from the author of the Cold Secrets series, Tom Quiller. Pre-book the second in the NORSE KRIMOLOGI strand now.

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really good, fast paced story line with great characters and plenty to keep me turning the pages."
Like the other reviews; these are enjoyable and engaging reads - only spoiled by page after page of spelling and grammatical errors. There is an entire paragraph lifted from the first book into the second, where they are discussing autopsy photos. Wrong case, wrong crime. I am starting to think this is either self-published or AI writing.
Good storyline spoiled by diabolical grammatical and spelling errors
I enjoyed this book when I wasn't seething at the shocking spelling and grammatical errors in this book. Are kindle readers not worthy even though we pay our money too?
Back to the book.....The language was a bit flowery at times, trying to be poetic but not quite succeeding but the story itself was solid and moved along at pace. Frida and her hapless son are now confined within their flat with a new baby and a discontented girlfriend, much of which becomes part of the storyline. I'll admit to being confused at times but got enough to carry on and wait for it to become clear, which it did.
First-if you read on a Kindle/E-reader this book is full of grammatical errors. Annoying but still readable. This one was overly descriptive same as the first. Thought editor might have mentioned it but nope. You will get multiple description of something-every character seems to have to describe it. Loose writing in chapters-her auburn hair is suddenly fire red, Katrina turns into Catarina, cousin into sister, it was morning and the next sentence is evening. Over looking, it is a multi layered serial killer situation. All roads leading to one and that is not good. Frida is again doing the rouge officer thing all rules be damned. Very very loose on police procedures which is annoying for those who have read other books like this. As there are 7 books in this series I don't see the writing style or errors being corrected. Still a quick fast paced read.
After finishing the first in this series, I immediately downloaded Winter of Love because of the main character and the rounding out of the secondary characters and their relationships. My first instinct was to mention the problems in both editing and proofreading, but I won't dwell on it as I don't think I saw a single review that doesn't include that frustrating element. I'm left wondering why the problem seems so much worse in this second book than it did in the first one.
I enjoyed this story. I rated it at five stars for the story line, the well developed characters, and the writing. As for the editing- it was not up to par at all. Slightly distracting, but not enough to punish the writer. I will definitely be continuing with this series.
Someone needed to proofread this book, and there were so many descriptions using weird metaphors that it made me suspect copious use of AI. Shame really. It was a good story with some nicely drawn characters.
Nothing is simple for Freda. Serial killer with a complicated agenda. Hard to figure it out. Keeps you engaged. Almost kept me up all night. Looking forward to the next one.
