Special Agent Win Tyler’s quest for justice collides with a Mountie’s thirst for revenge in Rhona Weaver’s riveting third installment in her award-winning FBI Yellowstone Adventure series.
Loved by fans of John Grisham and perfect for readers of C.J. Box, Nevada Barr, and David Baldacci
Gunrunning and bison massacres are not what FBI Special Agent Win Tyler had in mind for his summer rafting vacation with his brothers and best friend. But when a federal agent and informant are murdered, the stage is set for a confrontation between the FBI and the killers, who are trafficking illegal guns to Canada. All the while, park rangers enlist Win in the pursuit of brazen wildlife poachers whose crimes have gripped the nation.
Win is forced to partner with Constable Alex Lindell, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer bent on revenge for the death of her confidential informant. But between Alex’s need for closure and Win’s attempts to juggle critical investigations, can Win stay the course on his path to redemption?
Set against the stunning landscapes of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, A Just Cause, the third installment in the award-winning FBI Yellowstone Adventure series, is a thrilling tale that pits deceit, danger, and betrayal against trust and the roots of human compassion.
Rhona Weaver is a retired swamp and farmland appraiser who had a thirty-five-year career in agricultural real estate and founded a program for at-risk children in Arkansas. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a Sunday School teacher, and an avid gardener. Growing up on a cattle farm in the Ozarks gave her a deep appreciation of the outdoors and wildlife. Her ideal vacation spot is a state or national park. Her novel draws on her love of the land and her deep admiration for the men and women in our law enforcement community who truly share a noble calling. Those park rangers, FBI agents, and other first responders are her heroes. Rhona’s husband, Bill Temple, is a retired Special Agent in Charge and Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI; he helped immeasurably with researching the book. Rhona and Bill live in Arkansas on a ridge with a view with three contented rescue cats. A Noble Calling is Rhona’s debut novel and the first in the FBI Yellowstone Adventure series.
A Just Cause by Rhona Weaver delves deeply into the setting of Yellowstone Park.
Our main character, Win Tyler, is an FBI Special agent on vacation. But the death of two agents and a shortage of staff has him set down the fishing pole and pick up the badge.
From buffalo poaching to gun running, there is a plethora of bad guy activity and not enough police, agents, or National Park authorities to handle the load.
Constable Alex Lindell is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer who discovered her confidential informant was one of the men gunned down, murdered, and left to burn in their vehicle. She is teamed up with Win to locate these bad guys in the huge park.
What is so spectacular is the setting. Weaver paints a tapestry of colors, shapes, and terrains on every page.
I wish there had been more dialogue and less telling, but the story still comes across as dynamic. The ending will have you on the edge of your seat.
Cuteness character award goes to Shane and his dog. Read the story to find out why.
Win Tyler has two cases at once in this Yellowstone/FBI thriller. Two federal agents have been executed while working undercover on a gun running case and someone is killing bison in the park, cutting off their heads for trophies and leqaving their bodies for the scavengerss. Are the two related in any way? Win is on his own a first, because the other Yellowstone FBI agent is laid up with knee replacement surgery. But with the help of friends and family, Win identifies the appropriate suspects and finally discovers the mastermind behind all the crimes. The settings are glorious, of course, and Win is also in the process of falling in love with a naturalist who studies grizzlies.
Thoroughly enjoyed this third book of the author’s. Good, reasonable premise and makes you are about the characters. Gun runners and poachers are featured. Win of course gets involved because they end up in Yellowstone Park.. a little boy and his dog are definitely involved because of his father. Win’s little brother is involved because he is hiking at Yellowstone, and one of the bad guys ends up, kidnapping him for a short amount of time. All ends well with Will being saved by win and the bad/good guy ends up with not such a bad sentence.

Big fan of how Weaver interweaves (yes, pun intended) so many different characters’ perspectives within these Win Tyler stories! So many neat segues into new perspectives; it’s always interesting to see how she clues us in to whose eyes we are now seeing the plot unravel through — sometimes switching several times within one chapter — all while keeping it a coherent, clean read. Looking forward to more in this series🤞🏻
A great read!! And it has everything: action, drama, humor and a little romance! If you enjoyed the first 2 books of this series, you will LOVE this one. Come along as FBI agent Win Tyler hunts down the bad guys while working to keep the good guys safe. All the while surrounded by the majesty of Yellowstone National Park!
There were early moments reading the first third of the book where I was irritated by the use of the pronoun "he". Obviously the identity of that character was to be revealed later as the plot unfolded. The last third of the book was delicious. My predictions were confirmed or surprisingly redirected. One of my favorite characters will always be, Luke!
Great reading once again about a courageous FBI agent and the beautiful Yellowstone National Park. I have read all 3 books by Rhona Weaver, and I am going to read them again. Very suspenseful, and yet it all happens in a wonderful place.
Another good story from Rhonda Weaver. I would have like the ending to tie up more of the loose ends than it did. Hopefully her next book will let us know what happens.
I enjoyed this third installment of the adventures of FBI agent Win Tyler. Each story so far has been unique from the others. We get to see a little more of the character’s family relationships this time, which is nice, but I was left hanging a bit, so I anxiously await the next book!
