Olivia has her reservations at first but decides to let whatever is going to happen to just happen. Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
When I say this book had me in SHAMBLES, I mean literally! The amount of emotion that came from these pages, whewwww! I know it took a lot out of my girl to give us this story!!! & let me say this, no matter what any of the Henderson men are going through, the swag …… tuhhhh BAYYYYBEEEEHHH U N M A T C H E D, okay!!?????
Wesley “WJ” Henderson Jr. the oldest of the Henderson clan, went THROOOOUGH it! He went through so much, & he became so tired, that he was willing to take his own life! However, God had other plans for WJ & that’s where he comes across Olivia August. Olivia was a nurse at the hospital, she took care of WJ’s sister Jenahra & now she was taking care of him.! WJ & Olivia’s connection was on another level, which made their relationship (once it got to that) so easy! The way they spoke life into & cared for one another, was almost magical.!
This book shined a light on so many things! Like, things can’t be healed when they’re covered up. There were so many things that the Henderson children didn’t understand about Wesley Jr because they didn’t know! As well, if you aren’t taught growing up, how to manage your emotions and communicate efficiently & effectively, it’s not something you can do as an adult unless you wanna learn or something happens that forces you to learn! Wesley, was forced to learn & it almost cost him his life!
I can say, I didn’t like Wesley at all for the stunt he pulled with Marcus and his overall actions towards his family in general. Now, his story makes so much sense and I feel like Monica did a beyond fantastic job with this one!!! As usual, 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾!!!
Listen if you have read the Henderson series you know they WJ is disliked Henderson. He has been mean, trifling, and just all out ugly. I didn’t want to like WJ, heck I didn’t like him. But this book has made me understand and kinda like WJ. We all have stories and experiences that create who we are today. Sometimes those choices are for the better, sometimes our behavior makes us do ugly things. In part two we finally learn about WJ’s past and how the actions and words of his parents created who he became. This story is about the journey WJ has to go through to move past the pain and heartache of his past . Olivia is the perfect love interest in that she allows WJ to grow And work through this journey of rebirth. Monica ability to tell WJ’s story so well that the reader empathizes with him is a testament to her bomb skill as a storyteller. Monica continues to elevate the game with each book, and as a reader it’s a pleasure to read each book she drops.
This book was EVERYTHING! I was not disappointed. WJ's story was even more than I anticipated. If you're a fan of the Henderson clan, you will completely understand why WJ's story was so important. As the oldest his siblings looked to him more than they did their parents. It's incredible how some people can be the foundation for everyone else but still be broken in pieces when it comes to themselves. God works best when you run out of steam and forfeit the fight. That's exactly where WJ was when he met Olivia. She was the fresh wind he needed in his life. He had a rough road ahead of him, but she was ready for the journey. To see true forgiveness up close and personal was heartwarming to say the least. Forgiveness isn't always pretty.....and the Henderson family proved that. I can only give five stars but it deserves dozens more. I swear someone needs to make a movie or miniseries about the Henderson's.😍😍😍 I don't know what's next for them, but I'm definitely ready for the ride.
This book picked up right where it left off and my heart was beating fast through out this whole book!! My baby WJ had me in my feelings and In tears!! This book was a redemption book and it was well deserved and he got the peace he deserved and the family came together and I love it and his kids were there that middle child made me wanted to fight her but she got it right!! Olivia came in and bought peace and love and guidance for WJ and they were a match for each other and her son and Tammy ugh I wanted to fight her then my feelings changed a little. Storm is a real one and he is a big softy. But the parents Lawd have mercy too much but that daddy I just wanted to lay hands on him!! Buy WJ got what he deserved and more!! And I’m happy everyone is at peace and living comfortably!! As always phenomenal job Monica 😝🥰
From the beginning WJ was very unlikable. He was mean and nasty and just always ugly and seemed unredeemable. In I Wish I Could Be The One part one Monica starts peeling the layers of WJ's story. Reading about the level of hurt and pain WJ endured from a child really explains how he became the man he really did not want to be. Olivia was truly an inspiration for WJ on his road to recocery, healing and happiness. The Henderson family series is one of the BEST family series that I have read in a long time. As there are adult Henderson children as well as adult children from some of the Henderson friends I hope this series continues. onica Walters writes great stories but I Wish I Could Be The One 1&2 truly showcases her AMAZING talent. Total 5 star rating, I would give more if allowed. 👌👍✋
Another amazing ride with the Hendersons🙌👏👌. This book invoked so so many emotions. When that happens, the author has definitely do her job. In the beginning I couldn't stand WJ😡. I felt like his actions were so selfish. But when you reconcile his actions with that of a hurt individual who is walking around damaged since the age of 8. WOW! OMG! Then you feel sorry 😢 for him as he journeys toward healing and reconciliation with his family. In the midst of all this he connects with Olivia and its slow and intense then sexy💦 explosive💥🔥 and fast because they just know they are for each other. What an amazing ride and in the end WJ is your new favorite book bae. 💗 The new WJ has emerged and he is everything🔥💥😘. The author did a great job and this is definitely a must read.
Whew, that's what I said throughout this book. The emotional ride was something else because you got pulled into the story. The depth of the characters was something to behold. There were times I'd forgotten I was reading a work of fiction. This story may have been a trigger for some but a healing reminder for others, a lesson to handle your issues before they handle you. Take care of your mental health. Monica wove a story that entertained, made you cry, made you laughed but more importantly made you feel what the characters felt. That is great story telling. I am eagerly waiting for next masterpiece.
To answer Mrs. Walters question in the afterword, yes I love Wesley Henderson Jr! Reading Wesley's story in his own words was so needed. We readers were first introduced to him through the eyes of his younger siblings who he didn't have the best relationships with. He started to grow on me in Chrissy & Jen's stories but his own story? Whew! I'm so happy he has Olivia to help him heal. This may be too much to ask but please don't ever stop writing about the Henderson family. I would love to read stories from the next generation.
This book was everything! There is so much I want to say but don’t want to give the book away! I titled this review full circle because that’s exactly what this book was! It answered SO many questions. It also confirmed for me that why we hinder our small kids with in their childhood, grows with them into their adult lives and man! Did WJ have so much burden. It makes me sad just thinking about it. This family feels REAL and that is the testament to the author! Job well done!
This book gave exactly what it was supposed to give. WJ had endured so much and my heart went out to him. I’m glad he was able to get the help he needed to become a better person for himself and his loved ones. I loved Olivia for him. Her friend though, she would caught hands in that restaurant. *If you ever feel like lost and don’t feel like your life is worth it, please seek help because there are people that you need you.* Another wonderful book and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.
This was a wonderful conclusion to the Henderson family. I’m so glad that Wj got his redemption and the woman of his dreams. After being a jerk through out the whole series it was nice to see the reason behind his actions. Nobody can wreck you quite like your parents and Wj’s definitely did a number on him. I’m so glad he got help and utilized therapy. Another 5 star read.
WJ's story was beautiful. While I disliked his characters in previous books. Part 1 of I Wish I Could Be The One gave peeps into why he acted the way he did. His life was rough, but Ms. Olivia came into his life at the right time. I loved reading about WJ's journey to healing and finding love with Olivia.
I loved absolutely everything about the Henderson clan. From the very beginning, there was always something about WJ, that I liked and didn’t, at the same time. I love the growth of the whole family. The author did an amazing job bringing everything to a perfect ending!
Man oh man!!! This was a story that had to be told!! After finishing this book I gotta admit that I now under stand WJ! He is stronger than I gave him credit for! I just love him and Olivia together!!! Their attraction was so natural! This by far has to be the best Henderson book of them all!!! If you haven’t read about this family you are truly missing out!
Monica you wrote the hell out of this book. I used to hate WJ but you changed that with this book. I learned so much about forgiveness by reading this book. I shed tears multiple times while reading. I’m so full right now this book really blessed me.
Monica has done it again!! I love the Henderson family!! WJ’s story was needed! I really didn’t like him in the previous books but this one really touched my soul! As always once you start reading you will not be able to put this book down! If you’re looking for a good one this is the one!
Reading WJs story and his healing was so refreshing. To see him heal and get what was rightfully his was just perfect. Olivia's spirit so perfect she saw past all his flaw and to the man on the inside. Loved them together.
All this time I wasn’t a WJ fan but I’m all in and on the WJ train. I’m so happy that WJ found himself and found the love he needed to be the man he was destined to be.
Whew!!! What an ending! I'm so happy for WJ. He deserved an happy ending. I'm glad he realized holding in things will fester to something bigger. He got counseling and it went from there. Oh how I loved Olivia. I could go on and on. Great read.
I thought WJ was a lost cause with no redeeming qualities. This story made him human and stronger than I imagined, finding love in the midst of pain. Its real, showing that some people are just bad and selfish. A real emotional journey. Oh and don't forget the steam
I just love them Henderson's!!!! I was feeling some type of way about big Wesley but in the end I'm glad they got it together! Once I started reading I knew I wouldn't stop until the end! Great job Mo!!!
Thank you for this beautiful story about Wesley Junior. I am so happy he was able to overcome his difficulties and forgive his father. Olivia is the lady!!! As a nurse myself I am proud of her. Great story
I love the way you made everything come together in the end. I have to be honest, i was NOT feeling WJ in the other novels but now i love how he stood up and acted like how the oldest sibling is supposed to act!!! I love the Henderson family!!!
I really enjoyed this book. The book has an excellent flow and is very detail. I really love the Henderson family. I can't wait to see what's next. I highly recommend this book.
I’m so so happy for WJ!, I knew it was a story behind all that! His unfolding was beautiful and glad to see him and Nesha work it out and he was just beautiful.
WJ is no longer on my bad list. Thank you for showing that going to therapy isn’t anything to be ashamed of! I truly enjoyed this story. I’m moving to Nome!!!
For hours on end, it seemed someone was talking to me, telling me everything I meant to them. It was funny how people did shit like that when you were dead or dying. Why couldn’t any of them say all the shit they were saying while I was at my house, trying to drown my sorrows in alcohol?
I will say it again Monica Walters has me out here rooting for characters I have despised since the beginning! I have completely fallen in love with WJ and I’m still not sure how to feel about it. I absolutely love me a tortured soul and his truth affected me with every page flip.
The man was just gorgeous. If I could have gotten away with it, I would’ve jacked him off while lightly scratching his bald head with my nails and whispering nasty shit in his ear.
I loved everything about Olivia. The details and descriptions given for her let us know she was a beautiful woman, but her kind and open heart made her perfect for WJ and all his demons. Her occupation was more of calling and let her caring spirit guide her making you love her from jump.
I had a feeling that Wesley, although broken, was a soul to behold, and I was ready to behold the fuck out of him.
The instant connection between WJ and Olivia had me a little apprehensive because it was clear WJ needed to work on himself, but the needs of both characters was too strong. The flow of this book was a nice tempo even when their relationship seemed to be movig in hyperdrive sometimes.
“Okay, Mr. Henderson. You’re all taken care of. You need anything else?”
You… riding all this dick.
You… stroking my ego and making me feel like a man again.
You… laying your soft-looking lips on mine.
You… touching me and sending shockwaves through my core.
You… loving me for all that I am and striving to be.
AND THEN….
“Vee… why you tryna get away from me? Let me enjoy this pussy. It’s mine now. So whoever the fuck had this shit before me, tell him he shouldn’t have left leftovers. I’m finna clean the plate.”
I failed to mention WJ is the perfect blend of sweet and nasty…. in all the best ways😝 After reading part one I really thought this book would continue with Jenahra’s story but having WJ’s redemption story was so much better. The interactions between the siblings as well as other family members made this story an automatic five-star read. I have to admit some situations were resolved in a way I couldn’t fully get behind, but the characters go where they go so I’ll leave them be but… a certain female still needs hands laid on her!
“I can’t wait to slide a ring on your finger, baby. Our future is so bright, Vee.”
“I know, baby. Just so you know, whenever you’re ready to make that leap, so am I. I know what I want… what I need. They are one in the same… Wesley Henderson, Jr. With you in my life, it can’t get any better.”
We have been given another happily ever after and after all the turmoil, tragedy and depression it was hard earned but worth it so Monica Walters who’s up next???
Bay-be when I say Queen Monica just keeps coming back stronger and stronger with her #countryhoodlove series. You should always be prepared to seek God and therapy if you haven't already and you'll look into talking things out with family and or friends. Most importantly, self love cause without it you'll forever be looking to receive it from someone else who may or may not be able to handle your form of love.
WJ was the perfect example of someone with childhood trauma that was never addressed effecting them as an adult. That man was suffering, hurting and fighting demons for the little boy who got forgotten about. My heart broke for him, hell I cried when he shot himself😔. I was so glad he woke up from that coma ready to do the work to heal and repair all the broken relationships and build a future he didn't think he deserved. All the ish that man went through caused by the man and woman who was supposed to love and protect him😡. I wanted to f*** his mommy and daddy up🙄👊🏾, the mommy more cause like you was his momma and he was your responsibility, bih😒. The talk he had with his daughters and Sharon was beyond overdue and needed. I'm glad him and Sharon got the closer they needed. Although Wesley Sr. waited until after he almost lost WJ to do right by him, I'm glad he gave him everything he deserved with interest and something extra. The same for him doing right by Marcus💕
I'm glad Olivia didn't allow her fears to keep her from being open and honest with WJ. She was a true Angel and everything he needed and more💕. I was proud of her for not beating the breaks off of Tammy ass cause I don't think I would've been able to sadly away without punching her in the face or causing some form of bodily harm😡. I did wanna eff her son up cause he was definitely 😼whipped and tripping hard off it🙄😒.
As always it was great catching up with the rest of the Henderson crew. Storm fine sexy crazy self is always the life of the party but he really showed his vulnerable side after almost losing WJ.
I must say I Wish I Could Be The One 1&2 hit different. Most Definitely A Must Read!!!
Whew Lawd Miss Monica! Why was I crying and hollering like I was one minute old! 😂 My heart just broke over and over for WJ, as all was revealed! This poor man had been all the way to hell, and was prepared to stay! But thank God for Gabriel! 😂 You sure these folks ain't real? I am prepared to go to Texas and take care of Mr. and Mrs. Henderson!! 😠 Olivia was truly an angel! 😇 That connection that she had with WJ, brought him back to the land of the living! She knew nothing about this man, other than what she had heard of him from his family, and she was already all in! WJ needed all the love, attention and care that Olivia had to give. Her calming demeanor was like salve to his wounded soul! I am so proud of Miss Serita, and how she was able to completely transform WJ, into a person his family could love again! Once he started therapy, he realized that a lot of the issues were on him, and he needed to right those wrongs. Some of the conversations with the family tho', were so heavy! You really know how to draw emotions out of a person Miss Monica! WJ is on the road to becoming a happy, whole man again, and I love it! Now, Miss Tammy should have gotten her ass whooped in Pappadeaux! Who care what them people say! You don't do ish like that! Another great read! 👍👍👍
