You’re strong… You’re resilient… You’re an overcomer.
Nesha Henderson knows what it means to fight through adversity and the horrible effects of abuse. She chooses to be an overcomer and not let her past define her. After years of struggling with her sexuality, she’s in a place of contentment with herself. However, love has seemed to escape her grasp every chance it gets. Her desire to be loved causes her to make questionable decisions in her love life to avoid being alone. However, a common interest has her crossing paths with her college crush, and she’s smitten all over again.
Lennox Guilman has had to be a man for a long time. Seeing his father abandon his family was tough, but he stepped up to the plate. As a teenager, he became the man of the house and had to maintain a level of maturity and bear responsibilities well above his age bracket. While that fact causes his life to take a slight detour, it doesn’t keep him from succeeding. There’s only one thing missing. Love has been a stranger to him after a devastating heartbreak, but one fateful day, it decides to become reacquainted.
Nesha and Lennox notice their instant attraction to one another and immediately act on it. Nesha can only pray that her way of life isn’t a deal breaker. Situations arise in her life that could have Lennox questioning their budding relationship and whether it’s worth the fight. Can Nesha, once again, be the overcomer and move past those situations and proceed with Lennox, or will love abandon her once again?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
Come on Nesha with the glow up girl! To see her strength now, after all she has overcome, was beautiful! And Nesha got that Henderson drip! 😂 (I hollered every time Marcus said that) That damn Aaliyah was just doin' too much! NOW! Mr. Lennox! Where did he come from? This man was kind, caring, protective, loving and a gentleman. After learning to come into his own, and navigate life without the guidance of a father! He had real hate for his sperm donor, and that anger almost caused a major hiccup in his budding relationship. But, glad he was able to nip that in the bud. The connection that Nesha and Lennox had was heaven sent for real! It was like as soon as their eyes met, their souls merged! The pull toward the other was so intense, that they did not want to leave the others presence right from the beginning! I loved them together, as they both needed that love and attention! Catching up with the Henderson clan is always a treat, and the laughs are plenty! These days I don't know who is worse, Storm or Marcus; as they are both a mess! 😂 And somebody need to wrangle Storm's twins, cause whew...... they be sayin' some thangs! 😂 Hope to see Jessica and Decklan's story next. Great read as always Miss Monica! 👍👍👍
Cheers to the author! You have done it again with another Henderson love story! I love how the newer generation was incorporated in such a big way this go round. We still got to have the crazy moments with the original Henderson crew which is always a good time! Nesha and Lennox were a match made in Heaven from the jump, even if he didn’t remember her when he 1st laid eyes on her. They both let it be known what they wanted and went after it. Even when Aaliyah tried to ruin it all, those Henderson’s were not letting that happen. Amazing read!
We are now being introduced to the second generation of the Henderson family! We know Nesha Henderson & her story about her traumatic childhood that almost tore the family apart! Now we watch her blossom into a beautiful woman & fall in love with Detective Lennox Guilman, whom she’s had a crush on since they attended college together.
As we watch them both fight through the demons of their past, in the process we watch them find love and understanding in one another. This was a beautiful story & great introduction to the second generation of Henderson’s.
Or course, it wouldn’t be a Monica Walter’s book without some chaos 😂🤣👏🏾, but I still fall deeper in love with this family through every book I read!!
The story was a different one, not my usual experience to read about. Every adventure isn't always what we expect, and this time readers will have to determine where this story falls. Nesha had a lot going on in her life, and her role with adult protective services added to her angst. Getting to know Lennox was a good thing, I suppose. I could not get a bead on his persona. The Henderson clan are always up for the challenge, and Nesha needed them. See what you think.
So the Henderson saga continues I am here for all the smoke. 💨 Mrs. Walters is also enlarging her footprint in the literary world. She is most definitely a legend in the making. Nesha's story was so healthy with the amount of growth she had. She grew through toxic relationships, past traumas, and initiating her vision for her life. The first chapter in the book was hilarious! Every time I think about it I laugh. A lot happened in the Lord's house. One thing for sure and two things for certain the Hendersons do not change. They may even get a little worse as the second generation tries to come into their own.
Lennox was the perfect guy for Nesha. I love the fact he is the same height as Storm. He won't be as intimidated by Storm. I absolutely love the way that Lennox accepted all of Nesha. He didn't even blink an eye at her sexuality, he accepted it. He was there for her in all aspects of her life. Nesha's ex, Aaliyah was messy and doing absolutely too much. She was the epitome of toxicity. Although Lennox and Nesha both was going through personal changes they were each other support. Lennox had his own healing and forgiveness he had to work through. Nesha was his listening ear and emotional shoulder. Let's just say Lennox and Nesha was a puzzle that fit perfectly.
This is another Henderson story that's going to be a classic. I absolutely love that Nesha is establishing her place in the family. Her vision is going to lock the rest of the town under the Henderson name. I am anticipating more stories, especially from this second generation. I am low key hoping 🤞🏾 that since Jessica and Decklan's love started in this book it is coming soon. Oh and by the way I can tell baby Remington is going to be more like Storm than any other child Storm has. His petty gene is already popping and he isn't six months old yet.
Those dang Henderson's are a total trip. Neesha and Lennox had an instant connection. They knew each other in passing in college and met back up at a time in their lives when they were both ready for their HEA. Nesha still had triggers from past abuse thst made her wary of men but Lennox always made her feel safe, cherished and loved. Lennox was dealing with his anger and pain from his dad walking out during his teen years and even though he went to him and got his anger off his chest I felt there were more layers to his story. Neesha's ex Aaliyah was very trying with not wanting to let go. Anytime all of the Hendersons are together there are laughs to be had. Storm was a trip all by himself now he has a partner for his verbal shenanigans in Marcus, those two together are a entire comedy routine. It's clear to see that Baby Remington is going to follow in his twin sisters footsteps and be a terror also, the way those twins were in Neesha and Lennox business was hilarious. I was happy that Neesha and Decaurey made up and he wasn't on any craziness it would have ruined WJ and Liv's marriage and WJ has been through enough. Can't wait for the next read from this second generation of Hendersons.
Someone Like You was absolutely perfect! Nesha was so deserving of a HEA and Lennox was the perfect person to help her continue her healing, and she was just what he needed to realize that he, too, needed to find a way to release all the things he’d been holding on to. Nesha’s growth is a great example of what you can become when you do the work and have a strong support system. I love this family like they are real people! As with all the Henderson spin-offs, it was great to see what the gang has been up to and to see that everyone is still thriving. Monica Walters knows how to make her readers laugh out loud, cry, scream, and rejoice all within the same chapter! Storm, that mouth of his, and those twins…Syn will still pop off The diner scene…Lennox and his mom…the church scene—this was a great story!
I CANNOT wait for Jakari, Jessica, and Decourey’s stories. The Henderson drip must continue!
Lennox and Nesha were so cute together. They were open to experiencing a relationship with each other and showed love the way they wanted to be loved in return. Aaliyah was trash and I was hoping Nesha would get her. Nesha was such a gentle spirit and so was Lennox. This one sex scene had me clutching my pearls but in a good way. Very well written. I loved that Lennox embraced Nesha for who she was and didn’t allow for any petty jealousy to mess up their situation. The rest of the Henderson’s kept me laughing from Storm and his terrors to Marcus and all his jokes. Can’t wait to see what may come next from this family.
I throughly loved this book! Neisha’s story really touched me. Neisha works so hard to move past her trauma not sure if she would really find the love that you needed and desired. In walks Lennox. Lennox was all about showing Neisha he wanted to get to know ALL of her with no judgement, and no pressure. Lennox is the type of man all women want. Someone who listens, accepts the good, bad, and the ugly, and all out nasty in the bedroom! This books is filled with lots of laughter cue those damn Hendersons, talk of community, romance, and hot nasty sex! Monica Walters, is gonna be named one of the greats in the world of Black Romance. Someone like you, is proof!
If I could give this more stars I would!!! Neesha and Lennox were just a cool uncomplicated vibe!! They both just knew. Even though Nessha dipped back with Aaliyah, she was ready for all Lennox was and was ready to give. Lennox was busting at the seams to love ❤️ on Neesha. Everything was just great about this book, 👏🏽👍🏽it was funny😂, showed family love ❤️, had a lil hint of drama 🎭 and handled some sensitive topics really well. The way Lennox initiated the threesome!! It was definitely hot💦🔥and left me speechless with lots of questions. I loved the way he catered to her sexuality.
It’s always great to reconnect with the Henderson. Great job🤦🏽♀️👍🏽❤️!!
I loved everything about this story ❤ one of the best couple ❤❤❤❤ nesha and Lennox Omg love was so strong and genuine ❤yesss I loved the way he loved her unconditional ❤ definitely book bae🥰 I love me some Henderson family they Crack me up especially that Storm Jasper and Marcus the men are trip. I love the way Nesha rolled her eyes😆😁 . Omg when he walked in on his mama lol...I feel Nesha and Lennox pain about their past. This was amazing beautiful love story with family support and 😍😍❤😘 I loved it one of my favorite ❤
Lennox and Nesha running into one another while working was the best thing to happen to either of them! Her getting away from Aaliyah's toxic ways before her family did something to her was a must! Lennox came in and changed everything in her world! They were perfect for one another. Their sexual chemistry was amazing and he made sure she was completely satisfied! Decklan and Jessica hit it off immediately. Hopefully we will read about them one day. The Henderson family is still as hilarious as ever! Awesome job, Monica!
This was a really good read. Nesha was a really gentle soul she said how she felt but wasn't a fighter. Aaliyah got on my last nerves with her crazy self. Lennox was a really good man. I love how Lennox put Nesha needs before his on, he didn't have bring Rah in but he did. I feel there relationship will last because they are honest about what they need. I would love to see more from Jessica and his brother Decklan...
First things first, where can I find me a talk live Lennox?? Because baby! I need me one of him. He is everything you want in a book bae and in real life. I also loved that Nesha lived in her truth and owned her sexuality, but didn’t let it limit her relationship wise. Aliyah was owed those hands, so glad she got some of what she was owed. And although I don’t like mannish kids in real life, I love Storms twins! They’re like old people and their daddy, no filter at all!! Healing old trauma takes effort I was glad to see Nesha be supported and then be able to support Lennox too. And those scenes of intimacy, let’s just say you might need a cigarette or something more after those!! Fire!!!
The younger generation Henderson’s are as entertaining as the older generation. Nesha and Lennox were made for each other. Both of them new what they wanted and weren’t afraid to go after it. Their life experiences shape them into who they are today. Monica Walters incorporated LGBT into their love story as well as the after effects of sexual assault. As usual her pen game takes readers through multiple emotions. Someone Like You is a 10 Star read.
A beautiful and fun love story that didn't disappoint. So much sensual sexy sex along with several lol moments, too. Both main characters are easy to love and are surely my favorite coupling. I really enjoy the Henderson family - they are a real fun bunch (never a dull moment).
I’m glad Nesha finally found her happiness. Now I’m not with some of the concessions Lennox made for her but it came from a place of love. Considering all of her past trauma, wanting to make sure she was catered to was beautiful. I can’t wait to see what happens with Decklan and Jessica.
I loved this story. Nesha has come along way from the trauma she suffered as a young girl. The only thing she was missing was true love from someone who appreciated her. Lennox, although he had his own past hurt, he was determined to make Nesha happy and willing to embrace all he had to offer. I loved how open they were with each other. And let's not forget the Henderson clan stepping in to make sure one of their own was treated properly. Beautiful story of healing, forgiveness and finding love.
As always, you DELIVERED! Monica Walters, girl you sure can write a book! Whew! This was a good one. Nesha and Lennox are a vibe! I love their connection. I can’t wait to read about some of the other characters.!
Ok Ms Monica! You are a freak!!! Alright now Lennox came and conquered Nesha's heart. Don't know why he included Rah in the mix but to each his own. Lennox is one confident man! I understood the position he took concerning his father, any human being would have done the same. Nesha is from a big, loving family. Shiiiiddd, I would want to join that family even with the twin terrors meddling in grown folks business. Glad to read up on the whole gang of Hendersons! Decaurey needs love Mo! Cant wait to read about Decklan and Jessica!!! This was an entertaining read as usual. Can't go wrong with one of Monica's stories!
This book was a wonderful start to the next generation of Henderson's. Nessa's story was very refreshing to read and Lennox was the perfect man for her. Both of them have different childhood traumas that they worked on to become better people. Another great story written by Ms. Walters
I didn't think I could love the Hendersons anymore but heck was I wrong. It's like with every book I fall more in love! I was so proud of Nesha and happy that she didn't that her past handicap her. Lennox was such a perfect match for and I admire his love for her while he dealt with his own issues. Great read!
I really enjoyed Lennox and Nesha as well as having the Henderson family back to see how everyone is doing! A book of love at first sight, family, abuse loyalty and sex scenes out of this world along with sexuality! I loved the family dynamics . Nesha and Lennox they had their own set of issues, but I loved how they were able to be there for another! Loved the ending!
Wonderful! I had to start reading slow because I didn’t want it to end! I love the Henderson and how they love and support each other! Loved how she helped him through his trauma with his father. Didn’t think you would have one as fine as Lakeith , but you did that! I’m team Lennox!
Lennox and Nesha , the treesome about took me out I was not expecting that but girrrllll damn that was hot. I'm glad he let his dad know how he felt. Decklan and Jessica... Wow can't wait for the next one.😍😍
I love me some Hendersons already, but to see the next generation is beautiful. Those twins are going to give Storm and Aspen hell🤣🤣. I’m like Nesha’s momma, that threesome scene had me questioning some stuff, lol. Awesome Job!!!
I loved Lennox and Nesha. Of course the Henderson clan is always the best. Storm now has an additional demon to his team. Glad Lennox was able to work through his daddy issues. Loved it. Is Jessica and Declan next????💣💣💣⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well one of my very favorite queens with a pen has done it AGAIN! Author Monica Walters brings the heat every time and doesn’t disappoint. Anytime and I do mean anytime the books include Henderson’s it’s fire. Not to mention that you know you are going to see black love, family, raw honesty with ride or die from everything they do. This book gave us just that. Loved this book from this family!
I'm so happy you decided to write about the next generation of Hendersons cause I can't get enough if them. I love how strong Nesha turned out after everything and Lennox was everything. He would do anything to keep Nesha satisfied even bringing Rah into the bedroom with them but I think he puts it on her so good he's all she needs. Storm got his spawns acting just like him and had me in tears. I absolutely love this family and can't wait for the next one!!
