Ryan Sharp never thought he’d be a widower at 51, but that’s the way his cookie unexpectedly crumbled. A year after his husband’s death, he has (mostly) put his life back together. With plans to open a new veterinary clinic on the other side of the country in the works, he heads to his local BDSM club to hopefully find a Dom and let off some steam.
That’s where 34-year-old Oscar Williams finds him, and just in the nick of time, too.
Coming off the back of making a fool of himself in the name of love, Oscar is ready for a fresh start. Visiting a kink club while he’s passing through Brisbane, his protective Daddy instincts kick in when he stumbles upon a Sub being mistreated.
It takes every ounce of willpower not to fall into old impulsive habits when sweet, silver fox Ryan ticks all of Oscar’s boxes, but they go their separate ways after spending a single special evening together. At least, they think they’ve gone their separate ways.
Both men have emotional baggage, and Ryan’s never been anyone’s Boy, but bumping into each other again on a random cattle station on the other side of Australia turns out to be a sign neither man can ignore.
Who knew that saving a horse really can lead to riding a cowboy?
A Stable Daddy is a mostly sweet and fluffy Daddy kink (without age play) novel about two men learning to find love —and themselves— again. Inside you’ll find a Texan cowboy putting down roots in Western Australia, a widower vet who might have always been someone’s Boy without realising it, and the kinkiest and queerest band of stationhands any outback cattle station has ever seen.
Despite having one American MC, A Stable Daddy is written in Australian English (with Australian spelling). The book also contains impact play/sp*nking, ch*king/breath play, edging, and the use of a ch*stity c*ge, as well as themes of loss/grief (including the sudden death of a spouse), anxiety and self-doubt. There is also a scene detailing on page mild SA (a coerced BJ and deliberately ignoring a safe word).

this might be just what I needed after a tiny reading slump. It was so fluffy and sweet with a dash of hurt x comfort and I devoured it.
Don't read this if you expect a lot of substance or an emotional story. It's mostly about two men finding what they need with each other. nothing more, nothing less. exactly what I was looking for at the moment.
tropes: age gap (14 years) reversed Daddy/boy dynamic ranch vibes found family mature mmc's grief
4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ A super sweet, feelI loved these guys so much, they were perfect for each other. I look forward to more of the guys at the Wombat Run Station finding their person.
Getting a spot on Anna’s ARC team is a dream come true! Her books are so comforting and low angst. This one is no different. Plus, it was nice getting a cameo from Henry who we’ve seen in her other series set in Australia.
For a book totalling less than 200 pages, not a page was wasted. And yet we still managed to see an entire relationship develop. It touched on grief and self-disappointment that was eased just by the MCs being with each other.
I seriously can’t wait for the next book already and I have a feeling I know who the MCs will be!
Just finished A STABLE DADDY 🧡 a daddy k!nk romance set in Australia between a widowed vet and a Texas cowboy.
What starts as a rescue turned one night ✨️moment✨️ turns into more - months later when both mcs realize they've moved across the country separately. When they reconnect, almost like fate, both mcs are happy to jump into a relationship with a heavy dose of daddying.
I liked Ryan. He was a bit of a mess. His realization that maybe he needed a daddy the entire time was such a sweet moment. Maddy, his late husband, also felt like an active character in the story. I like how Oscar never tried to take Maddy's place.
I WANTED to like Oscar. And most of the time, I did. But a couple of times, he came off condescending as hell, and that irritated me a bit. But he saved Ryan at the Vault, and he genuinely loved him. I think my issues with Oscar may be down to the way the author wrote the character and less about the actual character.
Overall, I liked Ryan and Oscar's HEA. The author left the door wide open to write more in this universe, and I would definitely read another book set on the station. Australian cowboys, am I right?
Other things I enjoyed from their story: the daddy kink, of course. my favorite. the older boy/younger daddy dynamic. The discipline: the spanking and the choking/breath play. The focus on honesty and communication.
All that being said, read the content warnings. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ Especially if you have triggers. ✨️I hope the warning emojis que you into the seriousness of the request✨️
This book was so stinking cute! It was just the perfect amount of hurt/comfort and had the right amount of daddy/boy dynamic in it to be a great read. It’s cute and fluffy, with an older boy and a younger daddy which I enjoyed. Oscar is just the perfect daddy dom for Ryan and their cuteness makes the book so enjoyable.
A Stable Daddy is the story of Ryan a widower and Oscar a dom who rescues him once. I loved this heartfelt story set in Western Australia. I loved the characters and watching them figure things out. This is a low angst age gap story that pulled me in from the start, it also pulled at my heartstrings. I would definitely recommend this book.
Ryan has a bad experience at a club and Oscar comes to his rescue. Then both go their separate ways. Fast-forward months and buy a chance meeting they meet again. Is Ryan able to find a second chance at love you’re not going to want to miss this book.
This was such a beautiful powerful read. So many comments and things really hit me in the feels. I especially loved the age of the characters. That’s something I’d like to see more of.
This was good but I'm pretty over this authors copaganda. This one has a gay man who filed a police report for an attempted sexual assault that takes place in a bdsm club and you're gonna try and convince me that the police took it seriously? I just don't buy it. Of course the police SHOULD take it seriously but that's not the reality we live in.
Anyway, beyond the expected time jump halfway through that I've grown accustomed to with this author and the weird supportive cops, I did like it. It's a solid book about an older widow finding a younger daddy and I'll probably read the rest of the series but I don't know that I would reread it.
[I received an advanced copy of this book. All reviews and ratings are my own.]
A Stable Daddy is kinky and tender in all the right ways. Set in Australia, this is a Daddy/boy romance that just overflows with emotional depth, charm and humor. Ryan is a recently widowed vet (the animal kind, not the military kind) and Oscar is an American cowboy who impulsively relocated to Australia. They meet at a kink club in Brisbane, where Oscar finds Ryan just in time. Despite meeting during an incredibly traumatic situation, Ryan and Oscar find themselves drawn to each other, with Oscar offering Ryan a place to crash land after the adrenaline wears off. Their connection is undeniable - Ryan is a sub and Oscar is a Daddy Dom through-and-through - but they go their separate ways the next morning, accepting that they will never see each other again.
Ryan, the sweet silver fox that he is, is beginning to piece his life back together after the loss of his husband. And Oscar has found work as a station hand where he has been nursing his own emotional wounds. Their first meeting may have been painful, but the real magic happens when a twist of fate brings them together again on the cattle station where Oscar found work, clear on the other side of the country. Their connection as strong as it was that first night, Ryan and Oscar both admit to wanting more with each other.
While Ryan has always been a submissive, he has never been anyone's Boy. But Oscar is everything Ryan didn't know he needed: protective, compassionate, and confident in a way that makes him the perfect Daddy Dom. The kink is presented tastefully and thoughtfully, and is seamlessly intertwined with the romantic storyline in a way that feels natural and balanced. This isn't a story that's meant to sensationalize kink; instead, it portrays the journey of two men exploring trust and intimacy with honesty and respect. Ryan and Oscar's relationship grows with playful flirtation and authentic heart-to-hearts, and is as much about their emotional growth as their physical connection.
Though their attraction and connection is instantaneous, their chemistry never feels rushed, so readers can sink into a romance as thoughtful and tender as it is steamy and sexy.
I would be irresponsible if I didn't mention the rest of the cast of characters. The station hands bring added flair, and given how queer they all are, I imagine at least a couple of them will be getting their own books. Despite their brief appearances, each station hand feels fully realized, making it easy to picture them as part of this ragtag chosen family in rural, Western Australia. And, if you've read any of Anna's books before, you'll definitely recognize the character in the second half of the book (I won't spoil it for you but I love Easter eggs like this).
Overall, this is a beautiful story about second chances at deep love and finding home in the most unexpected places. It's sweet, it's fluffy, and it's beautifully queer, and it's a romance that lingers long after you've read "The End." If you want Daddy kink without the age play but with plenty of heat and heart, this book is a must read.
“But I love every version of you there is, darlin’.” “If I hadn’t already fallen in love with him, that would have done it.
Spoiler Free Review:
This was a super cute book. My first ever Daddy kink book. It was honestly a great introduction to the dynamic and I think this was the perfect book to start with. There was no age play which helped it not be so overwhelming to someone who is new to the genre. The banter and flirting in this book was so funny and cute, I was giggling to myself while reading. The characters have depth and interesting backstories and although the book is only around 200 pages, nothing felt rushed. It was the perfect balance of sweet, spice, and plot which I personally really appreciate. The writing is so easy to read and as the author is Australian, I found it super helpful that they added a glossary at the beginning to help those unfamiliar to the slang. I’ve read a couple of other books by this author and this only made me want to read more. I do highly recommend reading the content/trigger warnings before diving right in.
I really enjoyed and loved this story. I am so happy that I got to be part of the ARC team for this.
Ryan is a widow and being in his fifties he doesn't think it will get any better for him after losing his husband. He wants to open a vet clinic in a different area so he decides he will go to his local BDSM club to let off some steam. When he meets a Dom, he regrets ever doing anything with him and when he needs to be rescued he doesn't think he will but someone does. He is so thankful for Oscar listening and coming to his rescue. He can't help but want to stay with him for the night and just have someone to spend some time with. Once the night is over, Ryan will go his separate way or so he thought....
Oscar can't believe he was so stupid into believing the boy he met online. He ended up selling everything he could and packed the rest to move across the country to Australia to surprise his boy. Needless to say he was the one who got a surprise. After that, he decides to hit up the local BDSM club and when he is inside, he hears someone reaching out for help, his daddy dom side won't let that go. When he sees Ryan, he immediately goes into protector mode. He wants the night with Ryan and he wants to remember it. He knows he won't see him again or so he thought.....
When Ryan & Oscar end up seeing each other again at a cattle station and they both are so happy to see each other. Oscar can't help but let the daddy dom out and make sure that he is able to keep in touch with Ryan now. Ryan can't help but feel excited and different things when Oscar calls him boy. Ryan has researched and thought a lot about daddy/boy and he realizes some things. When these two finally get to hanging back out, they both decide what needs to happen.
These two are just so sweet and the best ever. They so deserve each other. I really enjoyed getting to know both of them and loved being able to get the background on both of them. This book touches your heart with the way these two are to each other and together.
The good + The gentleness and caretaking + Proper aftercare + Ryan's kids. Trev is a treasure + The way they found a rhythm together. I like that Oscar because he was even happier spending more time at home with Ryan + Oscar forcing Ryan to confirm he would still be able to safeword when Ryan seemed very lost in his head and demanded they try something new + Oscar rescuing Ryan from the asshole in the club + Their honest communication and how they both admitted to their desire for a long-term relationship
The neutral o There was this moment where a character asked the reader "Ha. Get it?" about a joke. I don't like fourth wall breaks, but luckily it was only this one instance o The cops were super understanding and helpful, which was a breath of fresh air and fitting in a low angst story, but it did make me raise my eyebrows a little. And the police's perfect behavior didn't surprise the characters at all. It was nice, but also slightly puzzling (which is sad, but true)
The bad - Oscar started Daddy-ing Ryan outside of scenes without prior negotiation. Maybe that part took place off-page, but it wasn't mentioned. Now it seemed like Oscar just started regulating Ryan's eating habits without prior discussion
This book was so sweet. I loved the connection between Oscar and Ryan. They took such good care of each other, and they were a great fit. I'm also interested in reading the rest of the series. It sounds like there are plenty of characters waiting for their happy ending!
It's been weeks, and I really cannot be bothered to go back and read the last 20% of this book... so, yeah...
There wasn't anything wrong with this, as such, there is just absolut NO tension what so ever. It's just meh. In the beginning of the story one of our MC's is in a kink club, his safeword is not respected and he is in a bit of a sticky situation. The other MC rescues him and together they go to the police to report this SA. They are in Brisbane, Australia. I'm not trying to shame Australia or claim that their police force would be homophobic as a rule... but, I just do not believe that they would react this way to a gay man, in booty shorts, who tells them he was in a kink club... Maybe(?) if it was a straight man... but a woman or a gay man? nope. sorry... do not believe it. Maybe I'm just cynical...
Same goes for the station the other MC works on... I find it hard to accept the absolute acceptance and inclusion of this crew. But yeah, this is probably on me. I'm old and cynical. Maybe the world has actually changed that much, without me noticing.
But, more than it being unbelivable it's also just bad for the story. Because you are removing every single obstacle / tension / conflict for this couple. It's just a story of two people, whose kinks mesh perfectly, who both want a serious relationship and every one loves that for them - including MC1's grown step children...
Maybe there was a major conflict in the last 20% but I doubt it to be honest.
I was bored and lost interest, but if you want something sweet enough to rot your teeth with no conflict or tension, this might be for you.
I need more of these two. So so so much more! The healing journey for each of them is so raw and real, different kinds of heartbreak and betrayal; all to learning new things about yourself even when you feel like you've lost yourself completely.
Losing your life partner is terrifying, but finding love after that loss is even more terrifying. Because you feel like it's a betrayal, but learning to accept love again, and that your partner wouldn't want you alone forever, they wouldn't want you to not be loved and give love in return.. its freeing.
Ryan and Oscar are truly a "right moment, wrong time" kind of love, they needed more time individually to realize who they are again. They needed to find the space in their hearts and lives for another after having to pick up all the pieces of their own broken hearts, only to realize there was a tiny puzzle piece left with a stranger in Brissie. Ryan has a lot to overcome but Oscar is willing to wait and be the strength Ryan needs no matter what, it's he truly delivers.
He is steady, calm, reassuring, honest, and stern all at the same time. He constantly checks in and shows Ryan love unconditionally. But best of all? He continues to show Ryan that he accepts Ryan will always love Maddy, and that he never wants to replace Maddy, only to show Ryan how much love he still has inside to give.
This was a fantastic start to a new series and I can't wait to see what's next. 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

I have my favorite tropes. MM, age gap (even reversed), and daddy kink are among the top, and this book has all 3. So, of course, I'm going to love it. Anna Sparrows hit the bullseye every time with her Daddy/Boy books. Even her Omegaverse series is incredible. This is turning out to be more about author praise than a book review. Oops.
Anyway, in this book, Ryan is an early 50s veterinarian, and Oscar is a mid-30s Cowboy from Texas. The book takes place in Australia, where Ryan is from. They both just happen to be in the same place, at the same time. I love that this is a reverse age gap. And there were scenes that showed Ryan was older and couldn't do certain things a younger person could. But Oscar never let him feel bad or self-conscious about it.
I honestly didn't know how the story was going to play out after their one night. But I'm not at all disappointed in how it turned out. We ended up meeting some great side characters that I'm crossing my fingers might be in the series somewhere. We only met Trevor a few times, but he quickly became my favorite side character. The chapter where Oscar meets the kids in person is my favorite chapter. The whole thing. I loved getting to see their reaction and support. Plus, the chapter after that was just as good.
I can't recommend this book and this author enough. I'm so glad I found her and now get to gush over her characters. Anna Sparrows, you are magnificent.
The blurb gives you everything you need to know to get drawn into this book. The rest is the beautiful story of the developing relationship between Ryan and Oscar. After an unusual initial meeting, and an unexpected second meeting, the romance between the two moves slowly with Oscar reading Ryan and his needs so well, often knowing what is needed before Ryan even knows himself, calm and supportive, loving and caring as this new (to Ryan) dynamic unfolds.
As a widow, I could identify with Ryan’s thoughts, feelings, insecurities and loneliness after the death of his husband. Finding Oscar was what and who Ryan needed to move on with his life, to live it to the fullest, not just exist. Age is just a number, and in this case, it was irrelevant. Even though younger, Oscar had all the instincts and skills to be the Dom and Daddy Dom Ryan needed.
I had a very good feeling all the way through the book, the two together just felt right from the moment they met. Story is told from a dual point of view, the world building of Wombat Run Station and those who lived and worked there was so welcoming and supportive, side characters added a lot, and the story was very low angst, adding to the satisfied feeling overall. A lovely book with two memorable characters to add to my To Reread list. Definitely recommend.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Ryan & Oscar This story was so cute! Rough way to start an introduction of the characters and in no way a meet-cute, but it was just right for the two of them.
I love the idea of an age-flipped Daddy/Boy pair. It just gives their story that much more of an edge. And I love the idea that an older man who has lost so much can still find himself through a relationship that is less "conventional" than others (whatever that's supposed to mean).
I greatly appreciate the respect Oscar shows Ryan, considering all of Ryan's past. I'm also in awe of the level of trust displayed between these two men. They connected so quickly over what was a fairly traumatic experience, but they made their own passionate connection outside of that experience, and it was made all the stronger for it. The fact that Oscar was also able to so easily connect with and calm any fears for Ryan's step kids just reinforces the level of maturity he brings to their relationship as well.
I really love the guys at the Wombat Run Station. Their little found family is incredible and I hope to hear more about them going forward. Rob, especially sounds like such a wonderful man and I'd love the chance to hear his story.

This was a sweet story of a second chance at love as a younger Daddy found himself his perfect boy in older vet Ryan. I loved the atmosphere at the cattle station with all of the accepting men. I loved the relationship between Ryan and Oscar. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a Daddy/boy dynamic.
It had me laughing in the preface at the glossary introduction, I just knew it was going to be a great read and I wasn't wrong.
A Stable Daddy is the perfect balance of humour, kindness, caring, tension and team. It is not totally light and fluffy as it does deal with some serious topics which have impacted on the couple.
The connection between Ryan and Oscar is beautiful, the characters in the book are just so believeable, the whole story flows and is a very easy read.
There was a element (breath play) that is not my cup of tea (not yucking someone else's yum, just not for me) and yet I could still appreciate the scene, and how carefully it was written, it really shows what an amazing author Anna Sparrows is.
Was great to see a little bit of a minor (so far?) character from the Dads and Adages series.
I really can't wait to see what comes out of Wombat Run Station next, this might become my favourite Anna Sparrows series yet (though I do say that about all of them!).
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ryan is a sweet sub who's mourning the loss of his husband. He's feeling adrift and as a result takes a risk that puts him in a dangerous situation. Oscar is reeling from the betryal of a former partner and is out looking for some entertainment/stress relief. He stumbles upon Ryan in trouble and immediately offers him help and encourages him to make a report to the authorities which he does. Oscar, being a Daddy also encourages Ryan to stay at his hotel room overnight in order to continue caring for him. Their sizzling chemistry leads to an explosive night but neither one expects more than that. Some time later they run into one another on the other side of the country. Now they begin getting to know one another but both are still struggling with moving on and letting someone new in. Ryan is also coming to the realization that he's not just a sub but in actuality a boy and ge desperately needs that part of himself to be nurtured. These two were so sweet and tender together.
Majority of books I read with Daddy and Boy, usually have the Daddy as the older character, so it was a pleasant change to read the opposite. Ryan was still coming to terms with loosing his husband at the young age of 51, He was such a tender soul. Oscar had moved to Australia to start a new life, but it has not gone as he planned. Going to the local BDSM club to try and forget, there he comes to Ryan's aid. Oscar was a caring gentle character. I really enjoyed this book, their chance meeting after both moving away was unexpected. But when they got together they were great for each other. Oscar was patient and tender with Ryan, letting him set the pace, but when it was needed Oscar's daddy mode was perfect to ground Ryan. This is low angst and I enjoyed that there was no miscommunication making it a pleasant read. The secondary characters at the ranch has peaked my interest making me hope they get their stories. This was such a sweet read and even after I finished it I was still thinking of their relationship
Great book about a Ryan, recently widowed vet in his early fifties who is a sub and misses his husband and needs taken care of. One night in Brisbane he goes to a kink club he’s been to a few times before and has a bad ‘scene’ but is saved by Oscar cowboy Daddy Dom in his thirties. They enjoy each other’s company but go back to their lives after that night but the memory lingers for both of them. Months later both men have moved on and meet again when the Vet is called to help at a ranch. The chemistry is still there and though they still live a small distance apart they decide to give it a go.
I loved watching Oscar care and fall for Ryan. He had a bad experience before he moved to Australia and it was good to see him find his Boy and be the Daddy he was meant to be. Ryan’s step kids were great and so was Sarah and the people on the ranch where Oscar worked. It would be great to get some of their stories so I hope there is more to this series. It had all the feels and great story and characters.
A romantic and beautiful daddy kink (no age play) age gap novel featuring an older boy and younger daddy.
I love to see typical rolls reversed in terms of age gap relationships and this one was SO well done. It was a distinct feature of the novel and not just glanced over.
And who doesn’t love a cowboy?
I fell in love with Wombat Run Station and the group of queer men who call it home. I cannot wait for this series to continue with any one of its dynamic support characters.
Sparrows also captures Western Australia so brilliantly I could practically feel the red earth under my feet. I love when the location of a novel is a living breathing thing and becomes as essential to the plot as the characters themselves.
This novel is full of heart, hurt/comfort, daddy kink, an age gap (51 and 34) relationship, sunsets, and a swoon worthy romance.
4.5⭐️ Gosh, I loved this couple. The healing vibes with Ryan and Oscar were top notch and I loved all the feels the author was able to pull off. I was totally invested right from the start, the first meeting at the club, was such a perfect way to show the reader who Oscar is as a person and a Daddy. I felt terrible for Ryan but loved Oscar in take charge protective mode. It was really beautiful seeing these two fall for each other and especially widower Ryan grabbing for a second chance at love was a highlight for me. Ryan and Oscar have an authentic connection and I loved that part of their dynamic. The author is able to bring real emotion, intimacy, and some real steam to their relationship. Really…the spice is very nice! Loved every page.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
4.25/5 Daddy kink is not generally my favourite, but I like Anna’s books, and this did not disappoint. I really appreciated how no one’s preferences were dictated by their age. I liked how respectful Oscar and Ryan always are. They had sensible discussions about interest and consent, and communication was always one of the most important aspects of their relationship. I liked how Oscar took such good care of Ryan (and also regained his confidence at the same time). I loved how accepting everyone on the station was, same with Ryan’s kids, and I also liked how Ryan’s relationship with Maddy retained its value and importance. This story did an excellent job of showcasing that love is not finite.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
In an Australian setting, Anna brings a reverse age Daddy/Boy couple to life. Ryan is a widower who finds himself in need of an American cowboy rescuer- Oscar. In a one night stand, Oscar gives him everything he needs. Months later, they meet up again and instantly realize they belong to each other. It's a sexy, titillating book having all the feels, bits of humor and only a little angst with Oscar running the show. Once again, I want to trade places in an Anna book with a MC- this time Ryan who gets the best Daddy ever. I loved this first book in the series, my newest favorite of Anna's. So hot, tender and Caring and the "Darlin's" make me melt and say "I want, I need this". To have someone hold you and think "Daddy, safe" has to be the best feeling in the world!
