What Momma said.
I tried. I really did. But I couldn’t do it. This book beat me. I tried,
I really did. I just couldn’t finish it. I hate to start a book and not finish it, even if I don’t care for it.
But this book is just terrible. It has no plot, no character, no story and no purpose. It’s just a weird girl living in a video game and she has allthe maxed out items. Her only conflict is she has no skills, so she has to grind her skills to develop them.
And that is the entire book. Hundreds of pages of her grinding skills, changing clothes and looking for a place to use the bathroom. Honest. Her first conflict is having to find a place where she can go to the bathroom comfortably.
I have to admit, the NPCs are rather interesting but since they are only there to interact with her they have no relevance.
I pushed to read the first half, hoping that it would get better. Then I skimmed through the rest, looking to see if something would change, that something interesting might happen. No. Just on and on, selfish, inane nonsense. Bleh.
So I quit. I had to. I just didn’t care.

This was a decent read and if you're in the mood for a slice of life, farming gamelit in an eastern cultivation-style world, then you might enjoy this.
I would describe this as: a wealthy 18-year old girl wakes up as one of her gamer friend's hacked accounts in a game similar to Stardew Valley. Being a player in a gameworld already puts her in a strong position, but on top of that her account has 2.1 billion of every rare or valuable item in its inventory.
So I would guess you probably know where the stumbling block to enjoyment might be: the main character. She's super childish and annoying in a way that reminds me why people dislike rich people. While roaming around the game world and wasting SSS-tier items by the dozen, she will reminisce about how the scenery reminds her of a Hawaiian helicopter tour her parents took her on when she was younger.
I mostly enjoyed the story since I was in the mood for some brainless relaxing, but the more I think about the MC, the more I get annoyed. I think I might have used up my tolerance for characters with OP cheats for a bit after watching this girl klutz her way through one situation after another.
I usually enjoy reading gamelit with female main characters since it's a nice break from the common male MC tropes, but this story might have gone a little too far for my liking. Maybe it's because I tend to hoard consumables in games I play, but it started to pain me when the MC in this story deployed an entire summer resort mansion just to raid the closet for a swimsuit before demolishing it.
So give this story a shot if it sounds like something you're in the mood for, but just know what you're getting into with the MC.

Perhaps the longest book I've read yet!
Wow that one took a while! But it was very very good very very fun, and very very relaxing. All the plot points made sense, I liked all the characters, the prince is adorable, and they are cute together. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of this.

A fun, cozy read.
I picked this book out of boredom not expecting to like it. I was very pleasently surprised. It is a simple, relaxing read. The MC isn't loud or ostentatious. In one respect she is OP but she still has to grind and put in the work to improve. Just a simple, fun read. I really enjoyed it.

This is a super cute, slice of life, relaxing, Litrpg story that I enjoyed so much that I followed it to Royalroad.com and will more than likely check out on patreon.

loved it!
its adorable and the minor romance subplot has flirting from the characters that keeps me giggling so i'm actually enjoying that. But I love the stardew valley style vibes mixed with a cultivation style skill progression and theme. It's a slower paced book but moves steadily.

not good
The world view is very different and interesting but the execution is lacking. There is no struggle. The character has all the answers in her inventory. It’s filled with everything in the game. Silly really. The story wanders around and becomes a statistics game. So much potential wasted.

There wasn't anything really interesting about this book. The characters all just fill a space they don't do much and you don't really learn more about them they just are there. The main character is also very dull and has zero personality. It really feels like the author had a checklist for cozy stories with a system and just went through it.
Any actions taken in the book are basically skipped. When they plant or harvest anything there is a sentence about what they are gonna do and the next sentence they are done. This happens throughout the book with everything even the romance so there isn't anything to look forward to in the book. Since the conversations are boring you just question continuing on.
The book also feels like it is two books in one. By the halfway point I thought it was ending then realized I still had more to go.

I can't believe that I didn't love this story, too bits. It was good and I found myself totally engulfed in the litRPG adventure, but unfortunately the MC, Violet felt a little childish. Now it could be because I've become jaded as I've got older, because I'm purdy sure that my younger self would've adored the book. Or that the voice performer's tone was a little too girly for the role... And then there was also the fact that everything was maybe a little too easy for Violet. Ya, I know that was explained away at the beginning, about her player friend goin by the name GodIAm who took great pleasure in finding bugs in the MMORPG they played. When he had just showed her the latest bug, and he let her take it out for a spin. And of course that's when she discovered that she couldn't log-out. Yes she was playing her favorite game for real. And yes, she quickly realized that she had to stop playing, and start living her life or die. The story also had several tropes that I love, like alchemy, delicious food 😋, and the teaching aspect of sharing information. Plus I totally enjoyed the flirty nature of the relationship between Violet and the Prince.
So yeah if you like a cozy now and then, go grab the book.

I loved this so much! It's such an adorable cozy litrpg; I was so happy reading about Violet, her relationships, and the world.
I enjoyed the partially Chinese-inspired game world, and it was fun reading details I related to, like passing on salted egg mooncakes, heh.
It was relaxing reading Violet being all competent and having plans for everything she wanted to try. I didn't mind the OPness of being able to just buy and build whatever she wanted; that kept things at a pleasant vibe.
The romance was perfect, both in its tone (lighthearted, flirty, and wholesome) and in the way that it just added a bit of extra flavor to Violet's life. I really liked how Violet had lots of other things she was interested in, and when she got into a bit of trouble, there wasn't ever any question of needing to be rescued; she solved things herself.
For a litrpg, the writing quality was excellent! I didn't notice any grammar errors, the writing flowed naturally, and there wasn't an excessive amount of telling instead of showing. The dialogue was cute and pleasant to read.

My gawsh.. i have no idea how this book rates so high here on Goodreads.. i have bought Barbie dolls with more personality than the main character. there is no plotline. no struggle. she has no wants or wishes. she's not even curious about how she got to be in a video game world nor does she want to get out.
She has no cares or interest in any of the people arround her and everyone is just perfect and happy and loves her. Pure enjoyment...this is an enchanting slice of life farming fantasy. I fell in love with how the author presented it and with Violet. It is wonderful, and continuously interesting. I needed something to take me away from stress and worries, and this is it. I loved that there was very little fighting. Most of the emphasis is on making life better and the farm better. When you think someone will pose a difficulty for Violet, the author generally makes that character nuanced but not evil. A refreshing change from most fantasy! Plenty of humor, great settings, and amazing detail. The plot is strong. I am very pleased with Emberstone Farm.

I was a bit sad that no one really seemed to miss Violet while she was gone. Shuye coming to rescue her was sweet, but I wanted the Prince to be vicious about no one telling him. He should have worried and fretted over her. Only her apprentices seemed to care she was gone and even then, she made it seem like they were just being childish.

Loved the lo-fi chill cute vibes, while keeping the story litrpg-aligned.
The backstory was the weakest part. Having the protagonist know everything ahead of time, have infinite resources (but not being able to use), and constant references to how this was a regular computer game that have somehow been turned into a fully realistic metaverse were the rough parts.

Fantastic cozy story.
It was a great story, with lovable characters, interesting world, and spiced with humor and romance. A perfect relaxing tail, cozy slice of live, with some flirtatious romance. A little action and adventure as well.

This was a blast!
I didn't appreciate the prince but I loved hearing about him. I'm undecided about the epilogue. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. Ultimately I look forward to the next book.

Good book, 4.8 stars
Overall, it was an excellent book. It has a good balance of romance, action, adventure, fantasy, mystery, and progression. There were some small parts that felt slightly off or odd but nothing that couldn't be explained by her sometimes strange personality.

Great, fun, laugh out loud funny and even has a little combat, action and mystery without resorting to angst fights and edge of death moments. A relaxing book that still keeps you completely engaged. Highly recommend.

A farmer's life for her
I love that this was a simple farming story. I love how she brought orphans to help her because they had nothing and she wanted them to have a better life. It is awesome that she has someone who loves her.
