After claiming the Singing Spear, Podkin heads to the sea to search out the last gift of all - the anvil of Magmarok - which is hidden inside a mysterious labyrinth. He must brave Ancient sea monsters and pirates to arrive at the city that houses the anvil before Scramashank and his Gorm. But what will it take to defeat the labyrinth and win the anvil? And what will happen when the Gifts finally gather in one place?
Another rip roaring adventure, exquisitely illustrated with full page artwork from the leading fantasy illustrator of our age, David Wyatt.

'Larwood is forging a new path in classic tales.' Kiran Millwood Hargrave
Kieran Larwood is the author of Freaks, and was the winner of the Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition 2011. Kieran is one of only two male Reception class teachers on the Isle of Wight. His days mainly consist of singing nursery rhymes, tying shoelaces, trying to locate who has had an ‘accident’ by sense of smell alone, and vast, endless mountains of paperwork. Kieran graduated from Southampton University with a degree in English, and also did a foundation year at Falmouth College of Art. Ever since he first read The Hobbit at age six, he has been passionate about stories and storytelling. Kieran lives with his family on the Isle of Wight. It is his dream to write full time and leave the ‘accidents’ to someone else.
It's great to hear more about Podkin's adventures and to hear about the bard and Rue . At the tender age of 39 1/2 years young, I enjoy reading this series it's true escapism for me. Great for all readers, no matter their age!
I'm with Rue; "For Hern's sake, don't stop THERE!" Keiran, are you TRYING to torture me!? I physically NEED the next book to come out. When it comes to bad cliffhangers, and this is a ROTTEN one, I'm bouncing off the walls, waiting impatiently to figure out what happens next. I really liked how they added pirates into this one. This whole series is MUCH better than a different rabbit series of which I'm not gonna name. *coughGreenEmbercough*! I think that the next book is gonna be the last in the series, which is cool and all, but I DON'T WANT IT TOO EEEEEEEEND!It's to hard to find interesting animal fantasy these days! I hope Uki's in the next one. ;9
Another wonderful book in the Podkin series. Always so well told that you can't put it down. The panic, the shock and the whole range of emotions that Pook feels when they get back to Thornwood and the warren collapses, I was right there for and even had a little cry. I know what is coming (even with whatever the gifts have become) and more rabbits are going to die, rabbits I have now spent years with (And I only started reading the series since 2023, nevermind, anyone who has been reading since it first came out in 2016!). Pook when they met the Beastie in the labyrinth! Oh my god! That kid! But it was a beautiful moment between Beastie and Podkin, So proud of him. The dreamwalking with Yasmin was really cool. Loved the whole thing. Can't wait for the final book.
Fantastic. Another brilliant Podkin tale. The way the author threads the story of the past with the characters present is one of my favourite things about this series. I closed the book angry that I did not have the next one after shedding a few tears. Well done Kieran Larwood.
and so the saga continues! More of the mystery is revealed and more is created.
It is a fabulous series to get totally lost in and see all the connections throughout the books. The detail and beautiful descriptions just fill your mind with wonder and escape.
a cliffhanger?!?! I don't want the podkin series to ever stop. I still really want the books to be turned into an animation series as well. I just... need it.
Simply wonderful. At the big age of 29, I always look forward to Larwood’s tales about Podkin & Uki. I have recommended this series to readers of all ages and will continue to do so. Very excited (and nervous) for the final books!
