What a fascinating read of the NZ Company and 1840s/50s life in NZ. A very well put together and informative read about the company's beginnings and colonisation outside of official policy. An important book to read to contribute to the current debate about the Treaty of Waitangi with its many observations between crown and company and its impact on Māori.
