The first of the Karma series I've read. The story is interesting with Cally Lazar who is a medical intuitive. her brother York, is a martial arts instructor. The two are invited to a party hosted by a woman named May North that has recently become clients of both.

The party takes a turn for the worse when May is discovered dead. Murdered, strangled by her large gold necklace. Cally is asked to use her intuitive skills and aura reading to help uncover who the killer is.

Several more colorful characters entertain the pages as Cally with York's help put the pieces together and discover who the killers is. A fun read.

So I tried to read the 2nd in the series, it's just not for me. I don't like the main character, Cally Lazar, and when hoping the killer will get the main character, that's a bad omen. The other characters seem to be total ditz brains, total know-it-alls, or sociopaths; not much middle of ground to keep the reader guessing. I have books 3 & 4, but not going to bother; just passing the books on to someone else. Who knows, she might like it all; but not I.

I really wanted to like it, but couldn't. I didn't like the main character, her boyfriend is such a lousy boring fool....

Really enjoyed this alternative take. In the light murder mystery, Cally Lazar uses her energyworker skills as a method of solving solving a horrible murder.

Cally is an energy worker whose talent is helping others clean out the emotional blocks to good health. She helps Mae, and the extroverted woman invites her to a party. After a murder, family members beg Cally to investigate. Cally loves Roy, who is afraid he's bringing darkness into her life. There are a lot of interesting characters and a solid plot, but also a heavy measure of alternative medical chat.

I felt the same about this book as I did the 1st in the series. The mystery was great and I didn't have it figured out until the murderer was revealed in the end. The whodunit started right away (which I liked), but then the plot moved very slow until the mystery was solved. I did grow to like Cally more this time and felt like I got to know some of the other recurring characters a little better.

I didn't read the first one. WTH is up with her boyfriend?? Why is HE not locked up in the 'loony bin'.

Other than that, fun whodunit, loved the energy readings she did. If that is something real, I want to meet one!

Good mystery. Not so sure about the aura reading and intuitive healing, but then, I am probably just jealous that I don't see auras around people - it would be awesome, after all. If you can get past that, the mystery is a good one.
