This is my third book by Keith DeCandido. The first two were his previous Supernatural tie-in books. I've read several of the other Supernatural tie-ins as well, and DeCandido's are my favorite. I feel like he must be a fan of the show, because he captures Sam and Dean both so perfectly. I can easily imagine the boys saying and doing the things described. One thing that I definitely like better about DeCandido's Supernatural books than anyone else's that I have read is that he includes at the front of the book a sentence or two placing where this story falls in relationship to the show. For instance, this one took place during Season 5, right after the episode "Changing Channels." This allows me to immediately know what is going on in the boys' world and provides some ideas of what to expect out of this novel. It's particularly helpful now that the show is off air, because it can sometimes be hard to place— outside of knowing what season it would've for into— just via context clues. Overall this was an enjoyable book and I would definitely read more of the author's work. A must read for fans of the series that are bummed the show is over and want more adventures from the boys!
