What do we have to lose?

Eve

My best friend Oz invited me on a tropical getaway for (what I thought was) an elaborate proposal to his girlfriend. I’ve been friends with them for years; she’s my childhood bestie, my first kiss! And he’s the guy I’ve always had feelings for but couldn’t risk ruining our friendship.

I’m crazy about them, so it only made sense to set them up together rather than choose one and lose the other. But now that we’re in paradise things in Oz’s story aren’t adding up and the lines of our friendship are starting to blur.

Oz

The island is as beautiful as the two people I’m rooming with. The more time we spend together the more our feelings start rising to the surface. And now my girlfriend’s looking at Eve like she wants a first class ticket out of the friend zone.

We're on the trip of a lifetime, and while I feel guilty about the lies I had to tell to get Eve here, I don’t regret it for a second. Harper and I made a pact; we aren’t leaving here without Eve, no matter what.

Harper

This whole trip has been straight out of my wildest dreams! The two people I love most with me in paradise, and things only get better when the three of us end up rooming together.

When we made Eve an offer for one night together, a chance to act on the desires we’ve all been harboring, I never thought she’d give into the temptation. But she did, and now this doesn’t feel like a one time thing. Which leaves me wondering if the three of us might make this work when we get back to the real world.

Are we crazy to think this is the start of our happily ever after? Or will Eve decide she’d rather be our third wheel than risk putting her heart on the line?

Eve is best friends with Oz and Harper and thinks they are going to Fiji because Oz is going to propose to Harper. Eve has been in love with both Oz and Harper for forever and doesn't think they could ever want her in the same way. What she doesn't know is that they devised the trip so they could make their couple a throuple because they are both in love with Eve too.

This novella is sweet and spicy (there is a high spice:plot ratio). The tension relies mostly on miscommunication, which I did not have a problem with in this book because it was fairly low stakes and resolved quickly. This is a fun read and a good palate cleanser in between heavier books.

It's refreshing to have a novella, especially a why choose novella that's not insta love! Even though we don't get to see it build in real time, you can feel the years of building love and longing that these three have for each other and it is so deliciously satisfying to get to experience the beginning of their happily ever after.

There is of course some hesitation, you don't go years or secretly loving your best friend without questioning reality when your wildest dreams are coming true. But it is so great to see them come together. And the spice was 🔥. I've read many why choose books, but this was my first FFM so that was a fun new dynamic for me to read too 🥰

Bonus points for great bi representation, love to see it! 🩷💜💙

This book literally just brought me SO MUCH JOY. It touches on important points (like fat acceptance, boundaries and consent, therapy, and ethical non-monogamy) but does so in a *tropical paradise* where the biggest source of conflict is basically they *they all love each other too much*.

I think I was literally smiling the whole time I read it. I laughed out loud at this line:

"How am I supposed to live, laugh, love in these conditions?" 🏝

Read if you like:

💗 Triads/ENM/Why Choose?
💗 Vacation Romance
💗 Only one bed
💗 Plus sized FMC
💗 Spicy sexy sex
💗 HEA

I would kill for a sequel, or heck, a short story. I don't need any conflict or plot. Just let me see Harper (the mastermind, my fave) and Eve and Oz again, happy and living their lives.

This was a poly book
- it’s mff, ffm, fmf - it was a fun poly book ( and it was set in Febuary like at Valentine’s Day . Basically her two best friends who are together are into her - she’s into them but she doesn’t know they love her . SO HER BESTFRIENDS ARE ALREADY POLYAMOROUS to begin with but like ( THEY WANT HER TO BE PART OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP. Like forever .

Anyways this is hot and I mean I was tired when I read this but I liked it

Eve goes on a trip with her best friends, where she thinks Oz is going to propose to Harper, but really they want to make a proposal to Eve.
This novella is a little on the longer side, 160ish pages, and very spicy. There is a lot of buildup in the beginning. The miscommunication is annoying – it is supposed to be – but the writing about the character’s thoughts really makes the reader understand why the miscommunication is happening. You can really feel the love the characters have for each other and their reasonings for not just speaking up because that is also out of love for one another.
Boundaries, consent, etc. is done wonderfully and shows what an ENM relationship should have.
Another review said it best: “the biggest source of conflict is basically that they all love each other too much.”

This book was delightful to read! I loved the banter and sighed at the miscommunication! I laughed with the characters. I cried with the characters. I moaned with the characters. Such good spice!

The story reflects that a FMF relationship can work in a positive way. I'm all for non-traditional ways of living. You could feel how much the three characters loved each other. Wonder job done by the author!

Must read novella!

I love this story. I was hooked from the start. Eve is invited by her best friends Oz to a tropical vacation where he would propose to his girlfriend. Who is also her childhood best friend Harper. They all have feelings for each other. Eve is hard to convince at first but after some time they finally give into their feelings. Will they still feel the same once they leave and go back to the real world?? 5/5 recommend it

The Missing Piece was such a cute, feel good, and quick read. The tension and build up between Eve, Harper and Oz was hot. The spice was hotter.

The concept of how Harper and Oz got things in motion was kind of crazy.. planning a trip to Fiji and then manipulating plans so that they have to stay in one room/bed was a bit over the top.. especially when it meant Eve was at the short end of the stick emotionally spiraling. But overall, it was cute and I loved the HEA!

I overlooked a lot of the grammatical errors and choppy writing, but if that bothers you, proceed with caution.

Let’s take the plot of the parent trap, but switch cloned Lindsey Lohan for a down bad couple trying to bait and switch their BFF into admitting she’s in love with them while they’re also keeping a rattling lid on the fact they’re in love with her. Someone SEDATE ME this was so cute and I didn’t want it to end! I love H.O.Es that is all.

This was SO FUN!

I loved the banter and really enjoyed the author's writing style. This is such a feel-good book, and I predict it will become one of my comfort reads. All the warm fuzzies and such a great spicy + sweet novella!
