Months after the terrifying events at Camp 1985, Ander is back. He is invited to be one of the first people to stay at an underwater hotel. Bringing Liam as a plus-one, he sets off with a handful of other VIBErs. But once again, a spirit is let loose and soon, they find themselves trapped miles below the surface, with an angry ghost, and dead bodies.

I absolutely loved Camp 1985, purely because I'm genuinely a sucker for a horror set at summer camp. I was a little nervous about reading the second one, knowing it was continuing away from camp. But, you know what? This one was fucking brilliant. It was tense, it had me feeling claustrophobic, and at points I actually felt really stressed. It had me wanting to slap some characters, and wanting to party with others. I loved everything about this one, including the romance blossoming between Anders and Liam. I'm super excited for the third book.

NOTE: This book has a lot of LGBT characters, so if that offends you for some reason, this book isn't for you.

Thank you Matthew R Corr for this read!

Ahh another instalment in the Slasherverse series and its another winner. I was unsure where the author was going to take us this time - I go in blind - and this book ticked all the boxes for a brilliant underwater horror! The claustrophobia, action and heart break mixed in with all the gore elements of a slasher with a paranormal twist.

I love how our characters are evolving and I feel like I am getting to know them so much more as well as see their connection strengthen.

Fast paced and bingeable in one sitting! Now onto book 3 for me and I couldn't be more excited.

Blood In The Water (Slasherverse book 2)
by Matthew R Corr
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is another great horror book from Matthew R Corr! This book takes place several months after Camp 1985 (Slasherverse Book 1). Ander gets an invite to a new underwater B&B for the weekend and invites Liam to go with him. Ander thinks this will be a great place to revive his on-line presence as well as get closer to Liam. The relaxing weekend quickly turns to anything but relaxing! This book is an intense read! Lots of underwater killings and gore!
The story is very original, suspenseful, thrilling and entertaining!

Thank you to Matthew R Corr for an arc of this excellent and exciting book! I’m looking forward to book 3!

Not as good as the first one, but still entertaining. The setting for this one was interesting, as was the killer. Definitely a unique concept! That said, the uniqueness was almost too much at times, but it didn't really detract from the story too much for me. Just something to note if you're not into a lot of scifi type stuff, since it does go there pretty heavily.

That washing machine scene though...yes.

Kindle Unlimited (Season 1, Book 5)

An 18-year-old James Charles gets every woman and girl in an underwater facility brutally slaughtered by a reanimated misogynistic maniac because he touched a book and also has a special crystal or whatever. Neat. Wish I’d gotten killed too to be spared from this.

crazy because the first one was fun, but you spend 8 chapters doing nothing with nothing happening. when it finally does, literally all the female characters and the one black character dies. sexual assault storyline was so poorly done like??? idk call me too woke but hmm.

Ok… this one was spooky! I mean… Ander is back getting himself in supernatural trouble…but it’s in an underwater resort.

This second book felt a bit harder hitting to me… maybe because it was underwater and the idea of being “under” tons of ocean water is extra spooky.

I loved this instalment of the Slasherverse. The gore and violence is amped up in this story as Ander fight another… supernatural force. No spoilers here.

As always, this is written really well. Particularly the action - and there’s a lot of it. I raced so quickly through one scene because of all the extra adrenaline in my system! Corr writes in a way that really takes me and plunks me right in the middle with the MC. I love that!

In addition to much mayhem, there are some lovely and tender moments in this novel. I enjoyed the addition of an older queer couple to the supporting cast. Great characters.

If you love horror I’d definitely recommend this series! I can’t wait for book 3!!

Ander and Liam survive a nightmare of a summer camp only to go on vacation and have to fight for their lives again. A nightmare vacation weekend at the worst underwater bed and breakfast ever. Note to self to never stay anywhere that makes you give up your phone and swim with sharks.

Another great queer horror book that brings in the hurt/comfort vibes that only a slasher film could. There was also a nice balance of sci-fi elements added in here as well. The plot was nicely paced out, setting the scenes and bringing in the suspense of what was going to happen. And when things get bad, they got worse. There were lots of sad deaths but I really liked how things played out in the end.

And the lore of the glowing crystals was really interesting, I really liked that element. I’m curious to know if the different colors will have different meanings or if it’s just random

A big thank you to the author for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book 2! This one had a slower burn for me
It took me longer to get into this one but I still really liked the story
I love that we get to see another chapter of Ander and Liam this time around they are in an absolutely different atmosphere compared to the camp
This world was technological and underwater! I would absolutely give this book a try if you want to continue the story’

Overall, this is a really fun and intriguing follow-up story. The first half to the story, focusing on the ability to get over the previous massacre at the summer camp, trying to make a long-distance relationship work now that the two are on opposite sides of the country, and the references to getting back into the habit of creating content for his social media pages following the slew of hectic action undertaken. This type of PTSD and hoping to overcome it comes off incredibly realistically, especially for the sake of being a teenager during this period, as this vulnerability and realistic take come together incredibly well. When the opportunity to visit the underwater bed and breakfast comes about where not only can them come back together to rekindle their relationship together but to also use the visit to get back to a sense of normality with posting again, it feels like a logical enough connection to make by undertaking the offer and going along.

With this focus on the first half of the novel, the introductory walk-through of the facility and what goes on down there gives everything a solid grounding for each of the characters. With the other couples showing up there being given their distinct feel and flavor to make them all standout, with the bickering sisters and the friendly gay couple alongside the main pair from the previous story, this group of guests mesh nicely alongside the work done for the administrator of the facility, her daughter, a doctor on site that carries out her research, and the all-purpose assistant who's supposed to help them when they go through their activities around the weekend. With the whole group shown to become fast friends with a series of interactions bringing them down to the quarters where everything takes place, hosting a dinner together, starting impromptu dance celebrations, or exploring the facility together, it all brings them together into a group that's quite fun to be around and develop the necessary sympathy for what's about to come.

That explodes in the final half when the book turns into a blood-drenched slasher offering incredibly strong slashing scenes against the dwindling group. The unleashed spirit is given a decent enough backstory to rationalize the rampage as a means of revenge against the staff of the facility for stopping his perverted and deranged actions toward them when he was alive, the sudden bursts of violence here include the manipulation of sea creatures to attack the group, strong confrontations with the indestructible killer inside the doctors' lab or out in the common-area lounge, bringing about some chilling scenes as well as the somewhat sickening bloodshed as the kills are ramped up a notch into a graphic outburst of splattered entrails and oozing wounds. Wrapped together with a solid series of advancing connections to the strange crystal necklace that ties into what went on in the first novel, with what could potentially happen in the further sequel, this is a genuinely enjoyable offering with a lot to like.

If the story is to have any issues, it's mainly in the overlong build-up to the actual slashing and horror happenings. We get so much detail and general hanging around exploring the amenities of the bed-and-breakfast, looking into how everything works, what type of activities are present for guests, and getting to see the burgeoning friendship develop between everyone, that it takes quite a while before anything happens. It's well over halfway into the story before that comes about, which is not in the slightest bit detrimental due to how much fun it is to be around these people, but due to the book rushing through the slashing in the back-half as everyone starts getting knocked off in rapid succession this is highlighted to a degree. As well as some bizarre bit of contrivance to avoid keeping their phones yet again that doesn't feel earned, these are the issues to be had with the sequel.

4.5/5

Ander is pretty sure that nothing could top that summer at Camp 1989-the memories of the horrors and death still haunt him, his aunt, and his crush-but-wish-he-was-my-boyfriend Liam. In an effort to take a step back and reconnect with both his VIBE career and with Liam, Ander accepts an invitation to The Oasis-an uber exclusive luxury resort housed in an underwater research lab.

But when yet another vengeful spirit gets unleashed in these tight quarters, the bodies start to pile up around Ander's feet yet again. This time, it's not so easy to get out when the entire place is literally under the sea and in this circumstance, it is 100% not better down where it's wetter-take it from Ander and Liam both. As the horrors continue, the lore behind Ander's crystal and his familial legacy becomes even more intense with even higher stakes than before.

Matthew Corr needs to write faster. And I say this with all my love but man oh man, this series has me in a chokehold. I am fully obsessed with his style of horror writing paired with the diverse casts of characters that actually break your heart when they die, even in such a short time. That's skill and talent-to actually write characters that bring tears to my eyes when we lose them in less than 300 pages? Obsessed.

Another insane gory wild twisty masterpiece in the Slasherverse-check. Cannot WAIT for the third one...

Solid slasher novel again! I loved being with Ander & Liam and we got more loveable characters who you wanted to survive 🥲 Some died in even more brutal then the previous one - this was very different for a slasher, unlike the first one which was stereotypical in a good way, and I appreciate Corr taking quite a big jump with this one.

There was quite a lot of set up about the science, my only main critique of this is the supernatural/horror element didn't happen until after the 50% mark. I enjoy a good setup but I think some of it could've been cut to bring the action in sooner as once one death happened, it was non stop action until the end.

Waiting on the rest of the series! Buzzing about this. Literally feel like the old slasher films and Goosebumps books had a baby to make this series.

Underwater terror is always a pretty big win for me! I've always been intrigued and a little scared of being trapped in some dark ocean with no escape... add to that fear everything that BLOOD IN THE WATER offers and, well, let's just say I would have noped the hell away right from the beginning!

I loved seeing more of Ander and Liam and their relationship grow. Matthew R. Corr does a great job at character development and making the reader truly connect with their stories. I enjoyed how there were callbacks to the first book... but did these kids learn NOTHING about giving up their cell phones the last time around?! Another, "Nope! Thanks but no thanks!" moment for me where none of this would have happened.

Some pretty gnarly death scenes that had me turning the pages so fast!

And another cliffhanger ending that makes me so ready for BOOK THREE!

The dynamic between Ander and Liam really grows in this book and I absolutely loved that for them. I honestly can’t tell if this was super fast paced or if I just devoured it so quickly it felt fast. Definitely an amazing sequel and I am 100% looking forward to the third book in this series.

This book is also the perfect example of why you shouldn’t do anything that involves going to the bottom of the ocean. In the words of Jamal, “I did not sign up for this Titanic-ass escape room”.

I am going to lose my absolute shit by the time this series is at its end!!!!!! I am so addicted to this I honestly think I might cry when I finish the third book.
First of all anything involving being under water freaks me out. Add on a slasher then it decreases my freak out slightly until you get to the first kill in this book which made me extremely upset. along with the knowledge that after I was done reading I realized that all the characters I love in always leave me devastated and heart broken. The events leading up to this were breathtaking in a claustrophobic way. there was one character not saying who, when I found out. their lore my only thought was man, fuck this guy. Im going to need more people to read this and let me know if they went through all the stages I went through while reading this

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Blood in the Water is the second book in the Slasherverse series by Mathew R. Corr. Ya'll book one felt like it was made for me but some how this one surpassed it for me. As someone who is not a fan of enclosed spaces just the thought of an underwater bed and breakfast makes me more than a little uneasy .

We are back with Ander and this time he's trying to spend a weekend away with his gamer boy crush. It's hard to get your flirt on when you live on opposite sides of the country. He gets an exclusive invite to a new underwater bed and breakfast. Since he has had no motivation to post on VIBE since hunted down by a a paranormal killer over the summer he thinks this is just what he needs. Once again Ander and Liam find themselves without their technology and once again fighting for their lives.

Once again the gore is on point with a crazy scientist ghost who can move through walls, killer marine life. Anders and Liam's supporting cast is a mix of people you're waiting to go away and others you hope make it out at the end still breathing. Of course I was also very excited to see Anders and Liam fumble their way into making things official. Just as with the end of the first book it ends satisfyingly but left me excited for the next book!

"You're invited to the Oasis!"

Months after the incident at Camp 1985, Anderson Thorne receives an enticing offer: a weekend stay at the world's first (only?) underwater bed and breakfast for him and a guest. Excited to get back on the VIBE bandwagon and get his life moving again, he asks Liam to accompany him. The Rhode Island B&B is at the bottom of a lighthouse...kind of. At least, that's how you get there... Liam is hesitant, particularly after the pair is asked to give up their cell phones again. But since you obviously aren't going to get cell coverage underwater, they willingly say goodbye to their cells and jump into the adventure. Sisters Mirissa and Monica, and husbands Jamal and Cooper climb in as well and are prepared to be wowed. An underwater research lab, the Oasis has views unlike anything they have seen before. The group is naturally a little nervous, but things seem great until the daughter of the Abby, the woman who is overseeing their stay, goes missing.

Similar to the first book of the series, Ander comes across an item that makes his necklace glow - this time, it's a journal. And then things get weird.

I have been going through a camp phase, buying all kinds of horror books featuring kids having a lovely time in nature. Well, okay, not quite that... I adored the first book in the series, so much so that I went right into this one. Obviously, this was quite different. The claustrophobia present in this entire book was an entity all of its own. YIKES. That alone is reason to read this book. Just thinking about it now is still making me uncomfortable. The slasher was interesting, the way he...well, you just have to read it. All in all, a worthwhile second installment of the Slasherverse. On to the third!

As if the survivors - 2 of them - from Camp 1985 haven't had enough adventure and terror in their lives ... Anderson gets an invitation to an underwater oasis (part of it is a research facility) and he invites Liam to join him.

They arrive ... and guess what? They have to give up their phones AGAIN. They have to travel to this underwater facility on a tram-type thing and, once there? NO TRANSPORTATION. The emergency pod fits maybe 2 people. There are at least 4-5 couples attending. Let's hope and pray nothing happens right?

Sorry. This is a Matthew Corr book. Something happens ... there's another corporeal entity that is SUPER human in the worst ways. Seeking revenge on everyone. Terror ... death ... OMG the little girl! Does anyone survive besides our beloved Liam and Ander?

But, now there's a twist. Ander wears a necklace with a stone that glows when these entities are around. And now, there are 2 others? One from the entity at Camp 1985 and now here? What is going on??? What does it all mean? And will they live to find out?

After Camp 1985, I would have turned tail immediately when they said no phones. Nope. Been there ... done that.

If you want terror. If you want to read a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you want to literally SCREAM while you're reading ... NO DON'T DO THAT! RUN! Then reading this series by Matthew Corr is exactly what you need.

Very excited to see what happens in the next book. I doubt it will be anything good.

Thank you Matthew Corr for letting me read an eARC, in exchange for an honest review! I am loving this novels! Ander is back, it’s been a few months since they survived Camp 1985 and of course no one believed them about what happened. Now Ander is struggling to figure out what he wants his VIBE content to be, dancing just doesn’t seem to fit anymore. So when he gets an opportunity to be one of the first to stay at an underwater Bed and Breakfast with a plus one he’ll jump at the chance. Especially as this means seeing Liam again and not just through a phone. The Bed and Breakfast is actually an underwater research facility that’s trying to break into the tourist gig as well. Ander and Liam, along with four others will be the first to stay. The facility has state of the art equipment, a biome full of aquatic animals, and a beautiful reef. But then like before Ander begins to hear things. When people disappear, a body is discovered, Ander and Liam realize it’s happening again. This time trapped in the deep of the ocean will they survive? And what exactly is going on? An interesting setting that creates tension all on its own! Exciting, thrilling, and plenty of gore for slasher fans! A nice followup to book one that was fast paced and kept me hooked! It also left me screaming for book three!!

After what happened with Camp 1985, I had to pace myself with this book. However, I found that every moment I was doing something else, all I could think about was this book.

With that being said, this book is on par if not slightly better than Camp 1985. Whereas in the first book introductions to all the characters had to be made, as 2 of the characters are recurring, it gave more time to spend with the background characters so the book felt like it had more depth.

I cannot explain how much I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I have an idea of how the 3rd one will go as they elude to it at the end of this book but I will still be gleefully reading it -- probably highlighting in my kindle and talking out loud about how silly the decisions are. Same for the 4th book later this year.

The characters have a lot of depth, the storyline is easy to follow (I could actually imagine it happening in my head which always helps me), and the interwoven clues from the first book are amazing, it's one of those moments where you do the 'hey, I understood that reference!'

Cannot wait to begin the 3rd book!!

This one was wild, but in a good way. The stars I took off were for very specific reasons.
I took off 1 star because of how long it took anything of consequence to happen. This is a short book (250 or so pages), so for it to take 150 pages for something to happen, that's just too slow. I could see people checking out and DNFing it before then, especially during the part where we took 5 pages to describe Ander getting ready in the morning.
I took off another star because of a personal preference to wanting my characters demographics to be more realistic. Yeah, this book as a whole isn't "realistic", but I started to get annoyed with almost every character being gay/lesbian. I actually removed two stars for it, but had to give one back because Jamal is one of my favorite fiction characters of all time.
I had a lot of fun reading this one. I am genuinely interested in seeing where this story goes, how certain things get solved, the answers to my many questions. One thing for sure is that Matthew Core can write a death scene. I just hope the rest of the series doesn't wait until almost the end of the book to get things going.

Following the events of Camp 1985, Ander and Liam are trying to find their feet again and navigate their relationship. When Ander is offered an all expenses trip to the first underwater hotel for the weekend he knows he will take Liam and it will also be a chance to restart his social media account. But when an evil force is expelled from a book they and the other visitors and staff at Oasis are soon fighting for their lives.

The second story in the Slasherverse which takes the slasher trope mixes in a good dose of the occult and produces a gore fest. This time they are trapped in a deep sea installation, a research facility that is branching out into hospitality and something is out for revenge.

The research is dodgy to begin with and the experiments on the marine creatures deeply disturbing. Ander and Liam are 2 of 6 social media influencers invited to test the facilities as a weekend getaway with a twist. A claustrophobic thrilling story that soon turns into a gruesome death fest beneath the sea.

Blood in the Water is an absolute thrill ride from start to finish. The violence, gore, and sheer craziness had me hooked right away. It’s incredibly fast-paced and filled with tension—I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The characters are fantastic, each with their own distinct personality. Some you love, some you hate. There are even some unexpectedly funny moments that give the chaos a wicked edge.

I really appreciated the strong LGBTQ representation throughout the book. The plot is unique, addicting, and packed with great slasher vibes. The spooky underwater setting adds an extra layer of terror—no thank you, terrifying. As a sequel to Camp 1985, it absolutely delivers, and I’m already counting down the days for the next adventure with Anders. Totally obsessed with this series! Also, I love how I went from space horror straight to underwater horror—clearly, I have a thing for terrifying settings.

Returning to the characters of Ander and Liam, this picks up in the fall after the events of book 1, and Ander has been offered the opportunity to visit a new type of B&B. The only person he can think of going with, Liam, is only too eager to get away from the world to spend time with Ander, and just have some quiet time.

Once again, gather a group of influencers together at a remote location, and mayhem ensues.

This was so much fun. A bit less than book 1 but I still had a blast. Book 1's premise was a bit more nuanced and easier to immerse yourself in, where book 2 seemed to take a step in the opposite direction and made it a little harder to suspend disbelief.

The characters were still wonderful, except most of the staff were just plain brats.

The plot was fast and fun, but I'd love to see more of the world built up around what's going on. Hopefully this is planned in future books.

The was worth the time to read and I definitely want to continue the series. Soon.

Blood In The Water is book two in the Slasherverse series and this time Ander accepts an invite to The Oasis which is the world's first underwater research lab that turned into a luxury vacation spot. The author has done an amazing job writing this and I was turning pages until the end. I loved that this one was set underwater since it gives it an extra spooky vibe. The plot was great and characters were so good. It had so much action, gore, tons of water and plenty of thrills. I can not wait to read the third book in this series! This is one I loved and would recommend to any reader but especially to those who love horror. Thank you to the author for this ARC read in exchange of my honest review of Blood In The Water.

this second book in Matt’s Slasherverse series was way more gory and scary than the first! there is a slow, ominous build up to the explosive plot twist that rocks Ander, Liam, and all of our new cast of characters, making it feel as though Jaws himself was waiting in the ocean surrounding the Oasis. i found the new characters all very unique, and was gutted when some of my favorites did not make it until the end! i also really loved the continuation of Ander and his quest to piece together the mystery of his necklace. Liam also gets more airtime as he continues to be the cutest, and both he and Ander prove that they are final boy material. overall, this was an incredible sequel and the tension was palpable, even claustrophobic at times! i cannot wait for Book 3!

This is a great book 2 in this series. One of my favorite parts was how he reminded you of key points from the first book without giving you a boring summary. It was a fantastic storyline with a brilliant idea of an underwater hotel/resort. They are all tentative to try out this new resort but decide it’s worth it. People start dying and chaos ensues. The scene where we all learn about gay water was great. This book is fast paced and kept me wanting more. I wish he had spent a little more time at the end explaining who the killer was and why they were so upset. It seemed to be a little rushed. Overall great book, I give it 4.5 stars and I am excited for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this series!

The Slasherverse just got bloodier, and danger lurks around every corner!

Blood in the Water is the latest jaw-dropping installment from Matthew R. Corr, and it's by far the most gruesome and thrilling yet. This time, Ander and Liam are trapped in a former deep-sea lab turned bizarre getaway, but things quickly spiral into chaos when a guest goes missing, triggering a brutal, high-speed hunt that will have you on the edge of your seat.

While the story starts with a slow burn to set the stage, once the bodies start piling up, it’s a non-stop, gory thrill ride. If you're a fan of The Meg, Deep Blue Sea, Ghost Ship, or Thirteen Ghosts, this one's for you. Can't wait to see where the Slasherverse goes next—bring on the carnage!
