Valda Aither has abdicated her claim to the throne. With Arwin taking her place as ruler and a dangerous false queen rising in their midst, Valda is forced into exile. Separated from her soulmate, Maris Era, she struggles to find a way to reclaim what’s been lost amidst the war.
Maris, meanwhile, hides in the shadows, grappling with her true identity. As she embraces who she truly is, Maris must deal with the aftermath of her separation from Valda. Yet, in her dreams, the two are drawn together, their bond calling them to reunite for the good of the kingdoms.
As war breaks out between the Vulcanians and the Skylians, Valda and Maris must confront their own traumas and find forgiveness within themselves if they hope to bring order to their kingdoms. Can they reclaim the life, the throne, and the future they once envisioned? Or will hatred keep them apart?
I enjoyed this one a bit less. It also made me kind of sad, it is a big part about the reservation I have for some fated/mates stories, like situations in which you have this serious unforgivable (even just the perception of it) act and it is continuously being superimposed by a bond / mate need, desire or love. I know this has a different reading in the line of "how strong this love is", but the back flip of it gets dark too quickly. Also, I am not so pumped about "a love that big", when a bond drives it like that.
I am being a party pooper of course, these were my personal anxieties, it works fine for other folks.
I absolutely loved the first book and the cliffhanger at the end left me craving for more immediately and that’s why I was so ecstatic to receive an ARC for the second book, I couldn’t wait to read it and jumped into it right away.
I must say, the author did not disappoint. I was afraid that the conflict between Valda and Maris would be dismissed too early in the second book but it was dealt with so well. The pain, the longing and the fighting felt right knowing Maris’ dilemma. And you could truly feel how desperate and powerless Valda felt all through the book, even when they find their way back to each other again, things just aren’t that easy. It was probably some of my favorite parts of the book, the other one being the world building. It was just impeccable in the first book and the second one really is just as good. Let me also mention the side characters!! I loved them all so much, but what’s funny is that Eyphah definitely isn’t my favorite, which makes me even more curious for what’s to come next!
That being said, it was action packed and well paced. I hadn’t expected to cry as much as I did but be prepared because this book is definitely an emotional one. The ending was absolutely perfect, and I’m glad we’ll have a bit more of Valda and Maris even if they’re not the main characters anymore, they deserve nothing but peace and love for the rest of their lives!!
Reading the second book only left me more impatient to read the next one.
Whew! After that cliffhanger in book 1, I couldn’t wait to start book 2! I was very anxious to see how Valda and Maris could continue their journeys and hopefully win against Arwin and Eris. I was not disappointed and could hardly put this book down! The world building continues and boy was it easy to picture and feel a part of the scenery! Well done! Ugh the angst and turmoil throughout but especially the first half. So many feelings had me in a chokehold. I enjoyed how Maris trained and gained strength and confidence (mostly) in herself and her power. Valda also grew more self aware and less reactive. Make sure you have some tissues ready, just saying! Highly recommend these two books and can’t wait for the next installment featuring new (and familiar) leads!!
It was a good book, don’t get me wrong. I guess I thought, since I was aware that there was a third book for this series, that this book would end off on a cliffhanger. And instead, it was wrapped up in this book. I mean, I liked it. I can’t complain and excited for the third book. 3.5 ⭐️

I finished The Stolen Kingdom and I honestly don’t even know where to start. As soon as I picked it up, I was right back into Valda and Maris’s world, and what an emotional rollercoaster. The book jumps right in where the last one left off, and I loved how it really dives into Maris working through her hurt and frustrations while still loving Valda — it felt so real, like their feelings and struggles are totally relatable, even in a fantasy setting. One thing I didn’t see coming? The focus on secondary characters like Malvian and Isen. I mean, I love the story, but OMG what the author did with them—I'm still mad about it! And meeting Queen Kenna of the Vulcans was such a cool addition. Her instant mate bond? So sweet, and I loved how her character brought a new vibe to the story. Also I LOVE Eyphah and I'm glad she she get more time—they add so much richness to the world. The action scenes were much more intense, especially with the war between the Vulcanians and Skylians. The battles felt really high-stakes, and Maris’s powers? I loved seeing more of it. I loved all the emotional moments, especially the tender ones between Valda and Maris — those parts felt so genuine, I could really feel what they were going through. And let me tell you, the ending was satisfying but still left me dying for the next book. The way everything came together with Valda and Maris’s story? Very well done. I’m just excited to see what happens next. Gonzalez’s writing is addictive, and I couldn’t put it down. In short, if you’re into romantic fantasy with strong characters, emotional depth, and some epic battles, this is totally worth your time. I’m already counting down until the next one!
3.5⭐️ I was honored to receive an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
For starters this book started off right where the last one ended, which unfortunately gave me a little bit of whiplash. To no ones fault this was released “early” or earlier than expected and I had no time to brush up on the previous book. In addition I was in the middle of a stressful new grad RN orientation and with 15 hour days coming home to read was sadly low on my list. Once I had reviewed the first book I finally started up this one. I will say there is definitely a lot of action. Which is nice and there’s nothing better than well described fight scenes so you can fully understand what is happening. Some of the fight scenes in this book I felt could have been edited better but that wasn’t my main “issue”.
For me, Valda really fell flat this book. I felt like she lost all her personality from the first book and that even her being softened by her love for Maris and her guilt wouldn’t have changed her THAT much. Another thing I didn’t really love is the passage of time. I had a hard time “believing” that months had passed and the only way I was really oriented to how many days/weeks/months had passed was a growing pregnant belly or when the author specifically stated it.
Additionally the whole concept of Maris becoming a healer seemed to just drop off after her friend died. Like she spent a majority of the book learning it and learning how to fight and then after that it really wasn’t focused of again.
The end felt a little rushed after having spent so long detailing the months they spent apart.
I really enjoyed Cerberus and how she maintained presence in the book even if she wasn’t the focus so that you wouldn’t forget she was “there” in the room with them etc. I definitely thought that was a nice touch.
While I was so excited for this book to come out and to read it I felt that I’d enjoyed the first book more. I finished the first book in under 48 hours and this one I just wasn’t finding myself interested in. Granted I had things going on in my daily life but I didn’t feel that “pull” to read and devour more. I feel like the first one was paced better and I felt more enveloped by the story.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC! It was an honor.

What a sequel! We had left Valda and Maris in a bit of a big crisis, and as the saying goes, it gets worse before it gets better. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was hard. It was painful. My heart ached for a big part of the book, and I even cried. Honestly… this was a criminal offense to bring me such a heartache. I could never fully guess what would happen.
The Stolen Kingdom was awesome, and I look forward to reading the third book of The Queen and the Heiress series.
i genuinely don’t even know where to begin because this book wrecked me in the best way. the stolen kingdom picks up right where the curse of the goddess left off, and that cliffhanger? it gutted me. i dove into this sequel feeling both excited and terrified, especially after that revelation about valda’s involvement in the destruction of maris’ family. like… how do you come back from that? how do they come back from that?
but holy hell, this book delivers. c.c. gonzalez doesn’t shy away from the pain, the grief, the betrayal. every emotion is raw and razor-sharp. valda and maris are apart for much of the book, and yet their connection never fades. in fact, their separation just makes the ache deeper. every dream sequence, every flash of memory or ghost of a touch, it was all gut-wrenching and gorgeous. the yearning is next level. it felt like my heart was constantly being pulled in two directions, just like theirs. but when they finally find their way back to each other? oh my god. it was so well-earned. not easy, not clean, but real. and beautiful. and i cried. obviously.
and then there’s the action. if the first book felt more like the calm before the storm, the stolen kingdom is the storm crashing down at full force. it’s war. it’s fire. it’s vengeance and legacy and survival. maris becomes the warrior queen we always knew she could be. valda, broken and determined, steps into something darker and more powerful. there’s a specific battle scene that i honestly need printed and framed:
"valda planted her feet firmly in the sand, her arms rising as she turned in slow movements. the wind howled in response, swirling around her like the sand beneath them shifted and rose, forming into a tornado. the vortex grew wider and stronger with each sweep of valda's arms, pulling soldiers and horses into its grasp."
this was so satisfying i was internally screaming “valda let’s fucking go!”. c.c writes combat with such cinematic clarity that i could see every movement, feel every heartbeat.
also, can we talk about the side characters?? i don’t always latch on to subplots but melvian and isen?? i would die for them. their love story, though quieter, hit me like a freight train. they were soft in a world that demanded hardness, and they loved each other so fiercely. what happens to them shattered me. i wanted to throw things. they deserve softness. they deserve forever.
i know book 3 is moving toward a different central couple (which i’m also excited for, obviously), but i just want to take a second to sit with how much valda and maris mean to me. their relationship—complex, wounded, but deeply rooted—is everything i want from sapphic fantasy. they’re such distinct characters, two queens with contrasting leadership styles and emotional cores, and yet when they’re together, it feels like the universe designed them for one another. like fate was screaming “this is it. this is the one.” i can’t explain it, but it felt real. and that kind of chemistry? celestial.
thank you, c.c. gonzalez, for the e-arc of this incredible book. i know i’m late in posting, but the honor of reading this early hasn’t dimmed one bit. this sequel was brutal and breathtaking, and i’m still reeling from it. i’ll never be the same after valda and maris. i don’t want to be.
Wow wow wow! Idk where to start with this review because this book was that damn amazing. I was not sure how this book would play out in the first half due to the cliff hanger in the first book, but I remember telling myself before I started reading this book that I hope it doesn’t drag out the cliff hanger because I knew that would’ve likely ruined this book for me. Well… I can tell you that this author did not disappoint and I couldn’t have been happier with the pacing and the back and forth longing between Maris and Valda before they finally reconnected.
I loved being able to see the conflict, hurt, desire, and love all stewing together when Maris and Valda were apart, but their soulmate bond still kept them tethered together and provided that much needed outlet for them to stay connected. I also enjoyed how descriptive the author was surrounding the soulmate bond in general that it made the book that much more fascinating to read and stay hooked on to.
The main supportive side characters (Isen, Melvian, Eyphah, and later on Queen Kenna and even Kayden) were very much valued and just as important to have in this story in my opinion. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but just know that you’ll never under appreciate side characters again after reading this book. This comes from someone who isn’t as concerned with side characters as I am with my two main love interests’ story line. And yes Cerberus 🐱🐈⬛ is given plenty of love and attention in this book just like the first one, so that was great to see in addition to how helpful she becomes later in the book.
I feel it is also important to note how much of a damn roller coaster this book had me on in the best way possible. I felt almost every emotion one could while reading the book in its entirety. It’s been awhile since a book has been able to extract that many emotions from me and I loved reading one that kept me that invested with the action, grief, desire, love, and of course the spice! The spicy scenes with Maris and Valda are 🌶️🔥👌🏽 which isn’t surprising as the first book was just as spicy.
I was given the opportunity to be an ARC reviewer and I’m so glad that this book was not only my first time being an ARC reviewer, but this is also my first time EVER leaving a review for a book. That shows you how eager I was to get my hands on this book after reading the first one, which I’d also highly recommend you read before this book’s release.
The first book in this series reignited my love for reading and is my favourite fantasy/love story, so, to when I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book I was over the moon.
The story picks up where the last book left off, so you are immediately immersed in the drama. I went through just about every emotion while reading this book. The characters are so well presented, their motives are clear, their relationships feel genuine and really pull at your heart.
I found the pacing of this book some of the best I have experienced. I was able to relax and enjoy the descriptions of more serene moments, but when the action really kicks in the pacing pulls you along with it and you really feel yourself immersed in the moment.
The author has also allowed the characters to grow and learn as the story goes on. The development is done so well, and makes you root for each character. The two main ladies have love and conflict, but, more than anything else, respect and space for one another.
The world that has been created for this book is vibrant, intense, beautiful, and scary at times! The book also has one of the best villains I’ve seen written. There is motivation behind his actions, even if you hate him for it.
I would want anyone who enjoys fantasy, mythology or ladies who love ladies to read this book (and the first one). I don’t want to say too much about the plot, because I think anyone reading it should be allowed the same experience I had. No expectations, but taken on a journey of ups and downs and breakneck turns. Stunning. 10/10 every day.
Since the first book I couldn't wait to delve back into the world of the queen and the heiress and I can tell you know that I enjoyed the wrap up to Valda and Maris story.
This time around the book had a lot more action in it, there were many battles and fight scenes that had characters showing us more of their powers. Characters explored more of the world, and we got an introduction to the Queen of the Vulcans, Kenna (who instantly became one of my favourite characters.) Loved seeing Valdas and Maris love get tested and watch them overcome their issues together. Maris this time around got a lot more of a chance to star as a baddie with a Triton and water bending skills. Loved Eyphah appearing more in the story ( I have a big crush on her and am glad the 3rd book will be focusing on her).
A few things that kept this book from being perfect in my opinion were first of all the focus being taken away from Valda and Maris to focus more on secondary characters. I personally didn't care for Melvian and Isen being such a big part of the plot and thought at times it was taking away from Valda and Maris. There was also quite a bit less intimacy scenes with Valda and Maris which was one of my favourite parts of the first book. Even though we do still get quite amazingly described spicy scenes, I do wish we got more...
Overall Gonzalez did an amazing job concluding Valdas and Maris' story. I am really excited for the 3rd book and can't wait to read from Eyphah's POV. That woman is a mystery I can't wait to unwrap! I can't wait to learn more about the Vulcans and Kenna. As far as Valda, Eyphah, and Kenna are concerned, they are my daddies 😆.
Thank you C.C. González for the eARC. My thoughts are not influenced by the gifted copy.
The Stolen Kingdom is the conclusion to Valda and Maris' romance and arc in the world of The Queen and the Heiress. The story picks up right where The Curse of the Goddess left off, and Valda and Maris are on the run! With the help of allies and friends, Valda and Maris work to take back their kingdoms. However, Maris and Valda separate for various reasons. Will they be able to take back their thrones and get back together?
Maris, for understandable reasons, is angry at Valda. She needs to spend time away from her, even though Valda is her soulmate. I loved the fact that Maris was allowed to feel her anger and spend time away from Valda. I also love how Valda needed to spend time on her own reflecting on what she'd done, while also allowing Maris the space that they both needed. Both Valda and Maris dealt with a lot of hardships, and they needed space without needing a full-on break-up scene. I'd like to give the author a lot of kudos for this. The romance between Valda and Maris was one of my favorite parts of this novel. Spice-lovers will especially enjoy the steamy scenes between the two.
As for the side characters, we spent a lot of time with Isen, a Sealian guard loyal to Valda, and Melvian, a Skylian who is Maris' best friend. I love a good side cast, and while I was sad about what happened to these characters, I loved the characterization of each character, and I loved their relationship. Additionally, we spend a lot of time with Eyphah, Isen's sister and de facto ruler of the Sealians without their queen. Eyphah's love story with Kenna, the ruler of the Vulcanians who was introduced in this novel, seems intriguing.
One aspect of the world that I enjoy is the unique worldbuilding. I enjoy the take on the fated mates trope, and I love how despite the mate bond, each person still has their own will. As a Greek myth fan, I love the world is based off of some Greek myth aspects. Some of the Greek myth-adjacent ideas and lore played an important role in this story, especially. I think that fans who want to see powers and races based on the powers of Greek gods and/or Titans will love this aspect as well.
That being said, there were some aspects of this novel that weren't my cup of tea. I missed the political intrigue factor that was in the first book. I also sometimes felt like the war seemed like it was in the background. I understand that the main characters weren't always on the front lines, but I would've loved to see more strategic meetings on war strategy and more battle scenes. This could also be a me thing, as I was reading this novel while in a reading slump. I could also just be unfairly comparing this novel to post-war novels that show when characters plan out battle tactics and have strategic meetings together. Overall, I feel that while the romance shined, the actual aspects of the war were present, but not to the extent that I would have preferred.
Regardless of my disappointment on some aspects of this novel, the romance in this book shined, the characters shined, and I ultimately loved the conclusion to Valda and Maris' main story arc. I also appreciated the fact that there was a setup for the third book in the universe. Fans of sapphic novels, fated mates, spice, and unique worldbuilding will enjoy this novel.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of The Stolen Kingdom. As always, all opinions are my own, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
3.5 stars rounded up.
The Stolen Kingdom started right where The Curse of the Goddess left off, which was… good and bad. Good in the sense we got right into the action, bad in that the angst from the end of the first book was still heavy. But the reader doesn’t miss anything, which can sometimes be a complaint of mine with time jumps.
While I did enjoy this book, it felt like it was missing something compared to the first book. There was so much angst between Maris and Valda, particularly from Maris shutting Valda out, and it kind of felt like it dragged on. Because of that, a lot more of the book was focused on the action in regard to the war/rebellion, so the romance felt like it fell to the wayside. This is a pretty stark contrast, imo, compared to the first book where the romance is front and center. This is not the only series where I’ve felt that the second book had a very different feel than the first book. Personally, I am not a fan of this as it can make the series feel disjointed. If I loved the first book, I end up a little bit disappointed when that happens. Unfortunately, that was the case with The Stolen Kingdom. I’m glad to have read it and finished out the story though I wish perhaps it had been done a little bit differently to feel closer to the first book. That being said, I am looking forward to the next book and seeing Eyphah’s story (even if she isn’t my favorite side character… I think that will make the story all the more interesting)!
The Stolen Kingdom took me on a true emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. C.C. Gonzalez has once again delivered a gripping and emotionally rich continuation of Valda and Maris’ journey. I already loved them in the first book, but somehow I came to love them even more in this one. Their bond deepens in such a natural, powerful way that every moment between them felt meaningful and real. Even with their separation, the readers could still feel the love and the yearning between them. What really stood out in this book was the action. The fight scenes were intense and packed with energy, giving a realistic view of the chaos and brutality of war. I really appreciated how Gonzalez captured the sharp contrast between the quiet lulls and the sudden explosions of violence. It made everything feel grounded and unpredictable in the best way. And the ending... I’m still emotionally recovering. It hit hard in all the best and most painful ways, but I’m so happy with how Valda and Maris’ story came to a close. It was heartfelt, bittersweet, and beautifully done. If you're looking for a story full of emotion, love, and high-stakes conflict, this book will stay with you long after the last page.
Been looking forward to this ever since finishing the first book. So happy to be an ARC reviewer for the first time, and I am not disappointed!
The story begins straight after the last book's cliffhanger so gets straight to the action. We see Valda and Maris take different paths for the first half of the book while they resolve consequences from the past, and it's like reading a slow burn romance develop even though they're already established. I liked how enough time was given to these issues and it wasn't just wrapped up quickly. Of course absence makes the heart grow fonder and it's amazing to see them come together again!
Maris takes up more of a leadership role in this book and you really see her as Valda's equal both on and off the battlefield.
The side characters really have a more prominent role and I have to say of two of the side characters in particular, chapters 26 and 28 had me in tears, and I don't often tear up at a book!
The epilogue wraps up Valda and Maris's story well while leaving it open for the 3rd book to focus on two of the side characters, which I am now also very much looking forward to reading!
Wow. Simply WOW. The first book in the series was stunning and mesmerizing. Everything a Romantasy should aspire to be. Yet The Stolen Kingdom surpassed everything and is even better than The Curse of the Goddess. The focus is still of course Valda and Maris’ relationship, how they cope with separation and the gut wrenching revelation at the end of the first book.
However in the second half the plot becomes even more balanced, and even though Valda and Maris’ relationship is still in the spotlight, we get more action, more tension, stakes are higher as ever, devastating loss, and an epic final battle and conclusion that was simply perfection.
C.C. Gónzalez carefully crafted a plot that felt organic, well thought and very well executed. This book gave us loss, grief, but also resilience, perseverance and justice. The climax and conclusion are fast paced but at no moment did it felt rushed or wrong. Every page, story and sub plot was a delight to read. The book is spicy as ever, and Cerberus is officially my favorite character.
I can’t recommend this book and this series enough!
What a rollercoaster! I was blown away by this sequel to Valda and Maris’s story. I could feel the depth of their bond in my soul. I laughed. I cried. Im pretty sure I stopped breathing. Their yearning for one another made my heart ache. From the first pages this sunk its teeth into me and did not let go. Picking up right where book one left off this continued the story without missing a beat.
The pacing was so well done. And let me tell you my heart needed the quiet moments that came when they did because once the action kicked in I was pulled under. I loved watching how the characters developed. How the things they go through changes them as it would anyone, it makes them feel so real. I loved seeing Maris really step up in this book, even if there were times her stubbornness made me so angry with her.
The world building is wonderful and I love seeing all of the nods to Greek mythology.
The spice is 🔥🥵! Which was no surprise because it was great in book one. I was thrilled to be able to be an ARC reader for this book and I cannot wait to see what C.C. Gonzalez does next!
Oh my GOD! What a wonderful way to end Maris and Valda’s love story… for now. I absolutely loved that when we pick back up from the last book, even though it’s stressful and Valda is hurt, they don’t make up right away. Not even CLOSE to right away. I loved the dual stories of Maris with Melvian and Valda with Isen. It was all very realistic (in a fantasy kind of way) for them to reunite and still fight and argue and deal with everything they hadn’t talked about. I can’t believe certain parts of this FUCKING amazing book, and I cried like a little baby. Character deaths are the fucking worst but I loved it. I didn’t quite see it coming and that broke my heart even more. And much like the first book, the second books spice was SPICING and I loved every second of it! I loved every single chapter of this book. I can’t wait to see what comes next and where we’ll pick up with Eyphah and Kenna. I’ll never not recommend this series to people. I loved it.

First off, let me just say I was so very happy to see Cerberus alive and well after the way the first book ended. She’s ok!! And a little badass herself. I absolutely loved that she was a part of some of the action and an overall constant character wherever our FMCs were. I enjoyed this book…not sure if I liked it more than the first, I feel they were pretty equal for me. I feel the same way about this book as I did the first when it comes to the many many spicy scenes…they were very well written, because man I was fanning myself a couple of times, but sometimes I wanted the story to progress while we had to stop for three pages of them falling into each other, but that’s just me. I enjoyed the fight scenes and the epic battle at the end was well done in my opinion. I also detest cliffhangers so I was more than thrilled that this wrapped up nicely…although I know there will be a third book.

Oh lord this series is a great one to scratch that sapphic romantasy itch. One FMC with an unknown past, raised by adoptive parents who passed away, and struggling to make ends meet. The other FMC a strong princess, high and mighty, and having recently lost her father.
A strange twist of fate brings two strong women (in different ways) together to butt heads. An angry queen-to-be, fighting through a sudden, debilitating blindness and a stubborn maid there to assist her through this disability. The two learn to work together and use their strengths in tandem. As their teamwork intensifies, so does their affection for one another. Its not long before their bond goes from "possible love" to "fated soulmates". As rebellion and cruelty spreads throughout the kingdoms and secrets are revealed, the two FMCs find that even through the toughest of times, they find solace in one another.
This one is good you guys. So much yearning, love, devotion, and heartbreak.
ohmygod. this book. this book!!!!! this whole series!!!!
i am absolutely blown away in the BEST way. now i’m going to be honest sometimes it’s hard to find cool world building in some lesbian novels. but this series has my favorite!!!!!! every detail put in was just so cool and added so much to the story!!! i loved it!!!
all the characters were really well rounded too. i love a complex character and this was well done.
also valda and maris. AHHHHHHHHHH BOTH I NEED BOTH. genuinely my new favorite lesbian couple. idk no one else beats them. i love them SO much. the spice was perfect btw. i saw someone say too much spice in their comment and i disagree FULLY. let lesbians have their spice packed fun okay????? it’s magical and we NEED it
yeah i will be waiting here for the next book so not patient at all because im SO EXCITED
I didn’t think book two could Top book one… but I don’t know why I would think that. Maris and Valdas love is so strong and pure. I know there are others that find their soul mate/ but their bond is unlike any other. I laughed, I cried, I love how they will go to the end of the earth to find each other and keep each other safe. Maris has grown so strong and independent. This book was brutal and beautiful. I didn’t want it to end. And also we cannot forget the spice?… definitely 10/10. Don’t read at work lol. I enjoyed every chapter, there were some points where I thought NO WAY do Something, it’s too easy, but overall amazing 2nd book, can’t wait to see what Eyphah's and Kenna's love story intels.

I loved the first book so much and gave it 5 stars and have it on my book trophy list. So I was so excited to read this, but this was a bit of a let down. It felt so rushed and also felt so much shorter. A lot of grammatical errors as well. Mostly I felt like I was rooting for Cerberus more than the main characters. The ending was predictable. The death of certain characters just simply weren’t needed and didn’t do anything for the plot but add shock value. The epilogue didn’t feel needed either and could have been so much different but I guess the magical strap needed to make another appearance. There is gonna be another book not centering around Valda and Maris but I don’t feel attached enough to any of the characters to want to read it. This was a bummer.

This book was amazing! I was so excited to get the chance to read the arc copy of it. It starts off exactly where the first one ends. Initially, I was heartbroken to see the pain that Maris and Valda were feeling. They both had valid reasons to feel the ways they do but it hurts just the same to see them upset. There were chapters that crushed my soul and broke my heart. I stayed up until the early hours of the morning devastated and crying. The way the story brought in a new romance for a character that I so badly want to have happiness was very interesting. I'm not ready to let this world go and can't wait to see what happens next!
I had the honor of getting an ARC of this book and it took me longer to read it than I’d like to admit, but I finally did it and I am so glad I did.
I love the story of Valda and Maris and I am so glad I got to continue reading it! Their trials to move past what was discovered in the first book was everything.
I love how they both learn to be vulnerable, to figure out how their relationship works through the trauma they’ve both experienced.
This book is filled with love, with heartbreak (I am still internally crying about it) and the spice! I love it and will forever recommend this series to everyone I know!
