I enjoyed this little book. It was a nice, short read. I did hate that it just kind of ended, but there are more on the way, so that helps. Can’t wait to find out what happens to everyone.

Patience Is a Virtue

Olivia Chen 30 years old, is sick listening to her mother harassing her about getting married and giving her grandchildren. It sounded like she just wanted to have something to boast about to her circle of friends. Plus, Olivia herself wants all that too, especially a baby, but her boyfriend for the past 12 years, Luca, has never proposed, even though they have a wonderful, loving relationship.

Taking what would be an extreme step in her Asian family’s culture, she goes to Luca’s apartment and waits for him to return from his job as a surgeon in the local hospital. It’s not even Leap Year, but she has a ring in her bag.

Luca is delighted to see her and soon they both are half naked in the hallway. Luca, ‘pulls out’ at last minute and Olivia begs, “no stay, let’s have a baby together”. Shocked and momentarily speechless Luca moves away to the other side of the room. Nothing will convince him, and Olivia grabs her bag and underwear and leaves. She doesn’t go back.

Determined to go it alone without a husband, with her skills as a lawyer she drew up an airtight contract which has all the clauses needed to relieve a man of any need of responsibility for her or any baby if their ‘arrangement’ was successful.

Let’s leap ahead a year, Olivia is a single mother, estranged from her parents and going crazy with the stress of it all. Surrounded by all unpacked baby stuff in her living room, and crazy from lack of sleep, when the doorbell rings, she just opens it.

Expecting her sister Alex, she is shocked to see who is standing there.
**************

I was about to read an ARC of Book 2 in this series when it suggested reading Book 1 to get a proper handle on this story. Luckily ‘ Her Bold Proposal’ is a short 90 pages. It is my first Matilda Grei book and I loved it.

So happy that there are 3 books in the series and I hope they will each be as enjoyable as this one. It’s available on KU.

Normally I avoid the M/F Romance books but the blurb intrigued me. Also I liked Olivia’s character, she
wasn’t a simpering damsel. She had established herself in a great career, knew what she’s wanted and set out to get it, despite all against her.

Eager to get to the next in this ‘ Bold’ series by Matilda Grei.

It was a good book but it was hard to follow at times and jumps around a lot. Some books just need to be longer and this was one of them because it had a lot of potential. Not bad just short and it’s written in third person which is a turn off for me personally.

Quick short read.
12 years together and still not married. Her friends are all married with kids whilst she is. They still have their own appartments and aren’t properly living together. So she turns her life upside down and her proposition is very bold and quite stubborn.
Seems far too quick to agree and the story is very short with lots of time jumps. I get it was a super short story but it was just to wild and unrealistic at times.

Still an ok novella just not my cup of tea. It has breaking societal expectations but for me it felt off. It still had character but isn’t something I think I would read again. At times it was jumpy. The jumping and too much in too little was where it lost me. I’d love to see it fluffed out as I actually really like the way the author writes just needed something more.

The writing is there and the author has done well writing wise just felt this plot and length needed more.

I would love to read a version that’s been fanned out a bit!

Dear author I know it sucks getting a 2, it’s just how it felt for me.

I look forward to seeing how the next book is! The author has potential for sure, just this one didn’t hit the spot for me.

2.5 ⭐️

Thanks to books and b!tches for my ARC. These are my totally honest and awesome opinions.

Her bold Proposition Review
This was a great short novella. I didn’t see it ending the way it did so that was a little twist. I definitely was team Levi haha
A great quick read!
I gave it 5 stars because it was a good story and I knew it would be short. I wish it was longer and more in depth. Is Olivia’s story over? Levi is never coming back in the picture? It just left me with questions.

nice quick read. the story was just okay for me. i get it's supposed to be a short book but i really felt like there needed to be more. it just seemed like there wasn't enough time for the story to develop. but i mean the story was still pretty interesting.

I really loved the storyline of this book and it was a short read but I wish there was more to the story and what happened between some of the time jumps and also I wish there was a bit more explanation around Levi and oliva and depth there.

Can I just start by saying that I would not have thought this was a first time authors book!

I was hooked from the moment I started! And devoured in one session!
I love the characters, I love Olivia! How strong she is!
I wish I could have known more about Levi! But I’m pretty sure that’s going to be in the 2nd book and to say I’m excited is an understatement!
I don’t know how to feel about Luca😂
The story was a little quick - in the sense would have loved to hear more about her pregnancy and those first few months ect but in saying that I love a quick read! And it’s not like things are left unsaid so that was perfect!

It’s perfect for someone who just wants to read a quickie 😂
I wouldn’t have minded if Olivia and Levi could have tried a few times for the baby though ;) hehehe
All in all thank you for a great book and bring on the 2nd!

"Her Bold Proposition" is a short but powerful story that introduces readers to Olivia, a woman determined to take the next step in her life after being in a long-term relationship for 12 years. Her desire to become a mother drives her to make a bold proposition, showcasing her strength and determination.

While the story is short, it is impactful, leaving a lasting impression on readers. Matilda Grei's ability to create a compelling narrative in a limited space is commendable, and it speaks to her talent as a writer.

I agree that it would have been nice to see more development in the story, but considering that this is Grei's first book and a short story, it sets a promising foundation for what's to come. I am excited to see where Grei's journey takes her and eagerly anticipate her future works.

"Her Bold Proposition" is a testament to Grei's potential, and I have no doubt that she is destined for great things in the literary world.

What did I just read???? I don’t like the pregnancy trope but this has to be one of the worst ones I’ve read so far.
1. She’s been in a relationship with a man for 12 years!!! You tryna tell me in all that time not once did they talk about marriage and kids? And whenever they try to he avoids the topic and she just……stays???
2. She leaves him and then automatically find someone who works with them to get her pregnant?? Not only that she basically harass the man and he agrees and she sleeps with him that same night….no tests or ntn lol
3. She immediately gets pregnant and then is all alone. Complaining and whining about how hard it is and how tired she is. And how she’s scared of messing up…..um what were you expecting?? Who told her having a kid was a walk in the park??
4. Then her ex of 12 years comes back with a tragically sad story as to why he didn’t t want kids. Shouldn’t that be something they spoke about at some point during those 12 years??? Does he even know who her baby daddy is???
I guess it’s cute that she made up with her parents and her man I guess. And he finally married her. She was naïve and dumb if you ask me. I understand there are people who dream of being mothers but to think that just being financially stable is reason enough is bogus. From she stay with a man for over a decade with no hopes of marriage when that’s clearly what she wants I should have been able to tell she didn’t have it all up there.

This is a good book for a first time author. The subject matter of the FMC (Olivia) taking charge of her own life to get what she most desires will speak to many women going through the same obstacles. This was more of a personal growth book with romantic aspects than a full blown romance in my opinion though. The only things I would comment on from a negative outlook would be the pacing of the book and the lack of real character development. There are some time skips within chapters without any sort of break in formatting to indicate it. This makes it a little bit confusing to keep up with. As for the character development, the book itself lays the foundations for the characters growth, but doesn't really offer any details or explanations on how they got there - only that they did get there. Overall, its a very nice short read and I would definitely read more from this up and coming author. Interested to see how she tackles book #2!

2024:
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
I didn't love this story. I feel like there was a lot of potential, and it just didn't deliver. I personally feel like the story was rushed and the book too short. The storyline was very jumpy. Big chunks of time flying past. If the book had been double the size, the storyline could have been padded out with minor, seemingly inconsequential details to help the flow of the story feel more natural. I hope the author takes feedback on board and pads the story out to help deliver a more well-rounded experience in book two.

I adored this quick read. The story comes right to the heart of the matter early on and keeps moving without things feeling rushed. When the story ended, I was left satisfied and yet I would have loved to keep reading about these characters and diving deeper into their story.

The author, Matilda Grei, has a wonderful writing style that is not overly verbose and gives you a cozy feeling as you read. While the book had several spicy scenes, it was not dripping with it. I would not only recommend this author but I would definitely recommend Her Bold Proposition to anyone looking for a quick read that pulls you in. I cannot wait for the sequel!!

This was just ok. Due to the short page count it felt that the plot was rushed a little and therefore it felt that it was quite difficult to get know the characters with any real depth. Olivia was a cool protagonist but I felt that the two male characters in particular weren't that well fleshed out due to the plot points needing to move so quickly. I think an extra 10 to 15 pages or an extra chapter would have helped me connect more to the male characters in particular. I think I will read the next in the series because by the description at the end of the book it's focusing on Levi's story who of the two main characters I was the more intrigued by.

Bold options but I like that she knows what she wants, is frank about it and makes a bold relationship decision to fulfill her wants. A deal-breaker isn't negotiable, they're mature about it even though they clearly have been in love for a long time. Realistically, sometimes a break can be a good thing, and sometimes you have to lose to win. Short and gets right to the point with some steam and family drama to keep emotions engaged. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is amazing. I loved it so much. I first read it many months ago on a plane ride and fell in love with the author and all her other work on Inkitt. The main character is so inspiring and I love how realistic the book is. Real-life problems and relationships. I found myself present with Olivia at every moment. Levi is just😍. Believe me when I say the rest of the series is just as good if not better! Would recommend 100%

Olivia is a very strong willed woman that knows what she wants. Luca is a man who doesn’t know what he wants. Levi is a very intriguing man. This book will send you into a roller coaster of emotions as you go through the journey with Olivia. Not only does she know what she wants, she knows how to get it. I can not wait to read the second book of this series. In my opinion Matilda has struck gold in her first book and I can not wait to read more.

There is so much to unpack here with the trauma of our FL. I think I was just uncomfortable with the fact that she jumped so quickly from a 12 year relationship to a one night stand just for a child. And then went back to the relationship she broke up with. He also didn't have a lot of time to process or discuss children which really threw me off. There is so much that could've been done with this story, but it just wasn't there.

This was a great short read!
This story holds relevance to all people taking control of their lives & doing it their way... Screw the status quo and I love that!
It is a little jumpy in the time line, not leaving much for development between the characters & events happening however overall it all fits.
It's very captivating & I'm keen to see what comes next for Olivia, Lucas & Levi.

I did enjoy this book, and was aware that it was a short story going in, however I wish there was more. It felt like the story kind of jumped time but never really clarifies how much time has passed in some parts. And it just ... Ends. There is such an amazing story that could be had here.

But again, I DID enjoy the book. It's just short.

"This is a story about a woman who refuses to settle for what life offers her and breaks the rules to achieve what she wants. Despite her unconventional methods, Olivia acts with a pure heart, believing that love can conquer it all. This is a family love story with a great twist. Highly recommended."

Short little novella with an interesting storyline..
The story was light and easy to read.. and I enjoyed it.. I felt like there was room to make the novella a full novel by more in-depth details..
But I enjoy short novellas to cleanse my mind between long books, and I'd definitely read more from this author

Rating 3 and half ☆ (but amazon and goodreads round it up )

A debut novella for Matilda,
This book is fantastic take on a modern day woman who wants a family but her long term partner does not.
So she takes matters into her own hands..

A short read with a good plot.
This realistic story will have you smiling and also shocked in some parts.

Quick funny but lighthearted story about Asian parents who want grandkids by their youngest daughter who has been in a relationship for 12 years.

Was a good Segway into book 2 and 3. Could have had a little bit more in some sections but still a good book for a new author in a novella.

I read the book in less than an hour. It's only about 60 pages. I enjoyed the story. I do wish there was more to it. I, however, love that it is a story of woman empowerment. She goes after what she wants. Goodreads doesn't do half stars. I rate this 3.5 stars.

What an unexpected ending, but it's HEA nonetheless. It's a story of a strong-willed woman doing everything she could to achieve her dream (no spoiler ;) ). Beautifully written with a unique storyline, and again, not your typical HEA kinda story, but I LOVE IT!
