SASSI ROBINS needs money. Lots of money. If she can’t get her hands on enough by Dario Correa’s deadline, she’ll be forced to walk down the aisle at his side. Damning her father for dying and leaving her with his debts won’t help. She needs a job, one that pays damn well.
CAPTAIN SWAIN needs a cook. One who can cast off without delay, and he doesn’t mind paying for the privilege. The waif who shows up for the job doesn’t seem like she’ll last a day on the waves. But the sweet-smelling wench has a fire that draws him in, mesmerizes him, and makes him lose his mind.
Although Sassi knows she should resist the gruff, overbearing master of the vessel, it’s a fight she can’t win. On his ship, she’s his to do with as he pleases… and his desires have a lot to do with pleasing her.
But the fantasy can’t last. Reality is waiting for her onshore and time is working against them. Sassi has to let her captain go to save his life and fight against the clock to save her own.
Contains explicit language and imagery. Suitable only for ages 18 and over.
Writing has always been a big part of my life. Since I was a child I've known exactly where my passion lay. No matter what's gone on in my life writing has been my touchstone. After all, we all need a place to escape to. Reading is my idea of heaven. There's nothing I like more than to switch everything off, close the bedroom door, and curl up with a good book. I have a feeling that's something all at Goodreads can identify with.
Thanks for taking the time with me today. Now do something for yourself, go and curl up in your own reading heaven.
3.5⭐️ I really enjoyed this book until the very end. I was invested in all the characters and enjoyed the build up of the story line. However the ending I felt finished very abruptly and areas that could have really helped build up the tension got missed. But overall as an easy read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This story is an unexpected gem in contemporary romance, while it has the well known aspects of most romance books it also steps outside of the box with it's characters as well as it's setting. And I for one loved it. When Sassi Robins takes a job as a cook on a sailing vessel she's only doing it for the money but she quickly discovers that she loves the open water, the sense of freedom and the type of men that gravitate towards this lifestyle. One man in particular catches her eye, Captain Swain. And while she knows better than to mix business with pleasure life on a boat doesn't leave a lot of room for space.
THIS book. It was absolutely AH-mazing. One of the best books I've read this year. The feels. The HOT alpha male. It made me laugh and it made me cry. I swooned for the Captain. He is my new, ultimate book boyfriend. The hairs on my arms tingled with the suspense. I have to say that this book is crack for readers. I just couldn't get enough. There was absolutely no way that I could put this book down. I didn't care that my family was fed. Laundry? What laundry? This is a MUST read. Caution: Book hangover! You will want to read everything from Scarlett Finn!
What an exciting adventure! Captain Swain is rough, rugged, and totally swoon worthy. Sassi is Sassi by name and sassy by nature. It’s filled with fun and sexy banter, and shipmates that will do anything to protect Sassi. It’s a great read that you won’t want to miss!
Sassi and the Captain—trying to come up with enough cash to pay off her dead father’s debt to a scumbag so she wouldn’t have to marry him, she signed up to cook for the Captain’s crew, even though she was a pastry chef and not a regular cook; she figured she could put together basic food for the crew. She falls in love with sailing, with the crew, and with her captain. And then once the voyage is over and she’s back on land with her brother and his girlfriend, she learns that the debt she was trying to cover was just a drop in the bucket. And then her captain learns about it. His solution is to keep her safely on board with her brother and his girlfriend while he goes about using his savings to pay off all the debts—to the tune of over $100,000. When they pay off the debt to the scumbag, the captain drops her off at their apartment and says she’s free. He’ll be back in four months to see how she’s feeling about him then. But the crew seeks her out and gives her the option of coming on board again, so she stows away for their first day out at sea until she reveals herself. The sparks will fly—they always have—between the captain and the cook, but there’s no doubt they’ll have their HEA. The narrative doesn’t always flow as smoothly as I’d like and normally I’d give it 4 stars, but there’s were passages so poignant that I teared up. That’s powerful writing. TW: violence.

These characters are well built. Their confidence astounded me and their chemistry had no bounds. I enjoyed their dynamics and how well they bantered. They fit together seamlessly and pushed each other’s buttons in such a natural way that had me begging for more. His dominance thrilled me but it was her need for him I craved the most. The plot winds you up and keeps you on your toes. I could never guess what any turn would bring. They intrigued me and at times drove me crazy. The emotions were high and the words dripping in angst. A tale of passion and sassy independence
4-5* So Much Fun What a wonderful way to spend my time! Sassi is running from a very serious situation and in dire need of a lot of money. Joining Captain Swain’s crew for a salvage run to the South Atlantic looks like the perfect way to get some. The all-male crew is infatuated with their new cook, who fills their bellies not only with the wanted comfort food, but also with all kinds of sweet pastries. Even with the menace from the criminal back home, who wants to possess Sassi and who doesn’t shy away from violence, it’s a lovely romantic story, with spice and a lot of sweet, witty banter.
Discovered this not-so-little nugget on kindle & it did not disappoint! It's worth putting it on your TBR pile. That's an order! The fun stuff: I love how the chemistry between the 2 main characters grew from not knowing each other to catching feelings for each other (keeping it brief!). And catch feelings they both do!! The captain & the crew of Eros will certainly grow on you. Poor Dario never had a chance. And if you are wondering who he is & what his role is in all of this you will just have to read, 'Sweet Seas' (Lol).
I loved this one so much! It grabbed my attention from the beginning. For me it was a moderen day Pirate story, and I really enjoy those. Sassi had her work cut out for her to prove she could do the job that she was being paid well to do. This job seemed like her prayers were anwered to have a way to pay back her fathers debts. Of course it isn't always as easy as it seems.
I loved this story. I loved that the MFC was fiercely independent and that the MMC loved her more for it. The push and pull between the characters had on the edge of my seat. The story alway kept me wanting to know what's going to happene next, I would have to force myself to stop reading because I just needed to know.
Sassi and Swain are perfect together. When Sassi is trouble she has to find a way to make a lot of money to payback some debts and she finds a way to get a job on a ship to get some quick money and along the way she falls in love with the Captain and it’s love at sea
Very good story maybe a wee bit stretched on reality but still enjoyable. Some good action, light sex and emotion and nautical terms I understood and missed from his g an ex sai!or.
This is a steamy love story with everything you need, love, hi jinx, drama, steamy love I really enjoyed this book, although I do wish it had another chapter to tell the end with the knot!
I really loved this book. It was a feel good story. Both the H & h were strong independent people. They caring about others and did what they thought was the best for them. At first their relationship was just attraction and fun. But it built into a love.
Absolutely brilliant book hooked from the start couldn't put it down superb well written and a great cast of characters and story line absolutely loved it
dnf at 80% (you can see I really tried). but like stop with the back and forth ugh. I would’ve loved it if it was a much shorter book. 3 stars because I enjoyed the storyline.
What a fun, hot, sexy story! Little did Swain know that Sassi wasn't just her name, but her attitude as well. Scarlett comes up with great plot lines that are refreshing to read. Will definitely be checking out more from her!
I could not put this book down. It had so many great moments of banter with the 2 main characters and the entire crew I loved Sassi's attitude from the start. I was a little worried that she was gonna be too whiny or too stubborn and sassy to really go with the Captain Swain but once she got in the rhythm of cooking on the ship and being friendly with the crew, her attitude leveled out to the stubborn sass she needed to push the captain's buttons. There was a good amount of spice but the story line also was strong enough and interesting enough to where I didn't need it in every chapter to keep me interested. I was interested in the relationships and the adventure of the book. It ends in a happily ever after and I am so happy to say that it didn't end up in a pregnancy like everyone believes happy romances should be.
Scarlett Finn you have blown my mind with this book. At first I fell in love with Sassi because of her great personality, because she has a lot of sass, and doesn't take and crap from anyone, not even a gangster/loan shark. Then she meets Swain and wow do they clash 🤣🤣 but there are also sparks, the sparks then turn to romance. My poor heart went on a ride, but I don't want to give too much away, I don't like giving spoilers away. I'd definitely recommend this book as I devoured it in one sitting, be prepared to not get any sleep 💗💗💗💗
3.75 🌟 I loved the setting for this story. It was different. Captain Swain was a sexy grouch. Sassi was exactly that. She gave as good as she got. She was also bold, no beating around the bush. The crew was filled with fun side characters, and Jockey was the father figure to them all.
