Sayings and Stories of the City Mothers and Fathers: A collection of sayings and stories of the men and women who have found themselves unknowingly ... from religious vainglory and praise of men
Unfortunately for me, I devoured this book in 2 hours. Akin to eating an entire box of pastries in one sitting, maybe I should have consumed one at a time, truly savoring it, and saved the rest for later. If you struggle to understand how to become a saint in this world, in everyday life — without fleeing to a monastery — this book is for you. Warning: you may weep.
I started this in January but ended up flying through it the last two days of Holy Week…once again, this author wrecked me. He writes about peoples relationship with God in such a beautiful way that you can’t help but weep over your own sins and pride and all the things that get in the way of you and God. I fear I must reread this once a month or something just to keep myself grounded lol
