This book evoked a whirlwind of emotions and left me genuinely surprised. It made me feel deeply, even to the point of sweating (more than one reason 🤭, if you know, you know). I highly recommend diving into this book without any prior information— skip any spoilers and go in blind, as I did. However, I do urge you to check the trigger warnings, as it is undeniably dark and spicy and intended for readers aged 18 and up. Your mental health is essential, so please be mindful of the content. I was obsessed from the first page and could hardly put it down. I even stayed up until 3 AM just to read more! I eventually paused because I was too tired, but l would have kept going otherwise. This was my first read by this author, and it certainly did not disappoint. It was eerie, spooky, possessive, and obsessive and had paranormal elements. Some twists and turns made me cry, blush, and be shocked. It was an emotional rollercoaster. Also, I have so many annotations in it!
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The story is a dark paranormal romance with an eerie premise. However, as you progress, you'll question the characters, the setting, and every aspect of the story. I loved the moments that shocked me to my core when I pieced everything together. I crave that kind of immersive storytelling— something that makes me think and feel deeply. Moreover, this book features the "why choose" trope, which I recently discovered and became obsessed with. For a brief overview, we follow our main character, Lilith. From the time she was born, anyone she touches dies. In her early twenties, she has spent her life running from the Grim Reaper, who shadows her but refuses to let her take her own life, even after multiple attempts. When Lilith gets a job as a bartender at Voodoo Steakhouse, she enjoys a rare four-year period of peace. However, everything changes when one of her colleagues dies in a tragic accident, making her fear that the Reaper has returned-and this time, escape may not be possible.
I won't share more details to avoid spoiling the story. I have one last recommendation: please read it and recheck those trigger warnings. If you enjoy dark romances and paranormal novels, especially ones that are steamy and might even challenge your sanity, this book is definitely for you! Also, I highly recommend listening to the playlist Alexandra created and I created an extended playlist that suits the vibes of the book so perfectly ✨ (you can check it on Spotify)
⚠️ Spoiler Warning: The following review contains spoilers for Death Trap. If you haven’t read the book yet and want to experience its twists and surprises firsthand, proceed with caution! . . . . . . . . Death Trap is an enthralling, dark, and twisted tale that had me hooked from the very first page. The story centers on Lilith, a lonely girl who seems cursed—everyone she loves or gets close to ends up dead. Her life takes an even darker turn when she is relentlessly stalked by a demon who delights in her torment. That demon is Death himself, Ramel, who was tricked into torturing Lilith by none other than Yahweh. The plot thickens as Lilith is kidnapped and taken to Hell, where her destiny as the Queen of Hell unfolds. What truly elevates Death Trap is the author's dedication to the history of their world—it was fascinating and really made this a next-level read. The romance in Death Trap is anything but slow—it’s erotic, hot, and forceful, perfect for lovers of CNC and degradation. The tension between Lilith and her two demons, Ramel and Shemhazai, is intense, and each encounter leaves you breathless. Ramel, as Death, is both cruel and seductive, reveling in his torment of Lilith, while Hazai offers a quieter, more dangerous allure. The way they dominate and degrade her adds layers of twisted passion that keep the story relentlessly thrilling. The chemistry between the three was palpable, adding an erotic intensity that left me craving more of their dark, addictive dynamic. I couldn’t get enough of Lilith, Ramel, and Hazai. Each scene between them was charged with sexual tension, and the author masterfully kept me on edge, teasing at their dark desires and leaving me desperate to see what would happen next. Death Trap is without a doubt one of my favorite reads of the year, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment. If you enjoy dark fantasy, sinful romance, and characters who blur the line between pleasure and pain, this book is a must-read!

Lilith is cursed, everyone she gets close to dies. There is a shadow that has stalked her throughout her whole life.. the grim reaper, death himself. After a turbulent childhood Lilith is trying to reclaim her life, getting a bar job & hoping death will continue to leave her alone, by keeping everyone at arm’s length. But she can’t escape him that easily…
Where do I begin with this review?! This book is insane & I loved it for it! When I started this book I could never have imagined we would end up where we did! Fair warning (as the book states) if you’re religious THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR YOU, you will be offended. However for someone such as myself (atheist)I loved the blasphemous tone. It certainly was an interesting take! I loved the way this story unravelled as you read & as someone who misses foreshadowing 🤦🏼♀️ I loved the revelations that kept unfolding.
It can’t be unstated this book is SPICY! I mean if you’re reading it you’re a sinner anyway, so it might as well be super spicy! The romance in this book is MMF, so if that’s your vibe or not, now you know.
The only thing (other than the religion plot line) that I think might put some people off is the length of this book. It is a long one, but it doesn’t get to deep in lore that it’s confusing. Just take your time & enjoy the craziness that is DeathTrap! Praying for you 😉😂
Definitely the most interesting and original take on heaven and hell I’ve ever read! 😈 It’s dark, twisted, and totally addictive. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. This is book 1 of the Murder an Mayhem duet, and I seriously can’t wait for the next book! ❤️
The worldbuilding is bold, blending religious themes with fantasy in a way that feels fresh and unique. That said, I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings first ⚠️ If you’re even slightly religious or sensitive to faith-based themes, this might not be for you.
The romance is intense and packed with tropes I love: touch her and die 🔥, morally black MMCs 🖤, and just the right amount of possessiveness and tension. The bullying and sharing dynamics definitely added to the chaos in a way that really worked for this story! 😮💨
Read if you like: Soulmates / Religious trauma / Touch her and die / Black cat energy / Morally black MMC’s / Bullying / Sharing
The amount of information within this story between world building, character development and more it will have you hooked and not wanting to put it down. With this story you will enjoy the Grim Reaper (Death) who follows and torments Lilth. Any person she has touched has wound up dead. I highy recommend this story especially for this season and it is available now!
The plot was complex with quite a bit of religious terminology that gets lost to get to the ultimate climax. The dark romance is think which I liked but the loss of the plot and world building left it as a slow read for myself.
Amazing! Plot twists on top of plot twists that I absolutely did not see coming! The character development was amazing and felt like it followed a pretty real timeline. The trigger warnings are absolutely to be listened to, especially the ones referencing religious triggers!!!
Didn’t realize there was so much sharing, which isn’t my favorite thing to read. I didn’t find it dark, but can see it if people are sensitive about religion.
