Betrayal is the one thing she would never forgive… Shattered. Trinity Falcone struggled to define her state of being when her husband of over twenty years wrecked their otherwise happy home. They had it all. Both at the pinnacle of their professional careers, three well-adjusted children, two dogs, and the assurance of their love for each other. And then she walked into a scene that was the equivalent of having her heart ripped from her chest. Shattered. Devastated. Anguished. She was all those things, and somehow, someway, she had to survive his betrayal.
He would do anything to win her back… He was a man of law and order. A man of principles and honor. Or at least that is how he used to think of himself. Judge Paolo Falcone was used to attractive women chasing him for his wealth and power, and he wasn’t too hard on the eyes. In fact, since he hit puberty, he’d had his pick of women. Since falling in love with Trinity more than two decades ago, no other woman had existed for him, and he usually hated their mercenary pursuit. As a judge, he held any oath that he made sacrosanct, and for sure he held his marriage vows the most sacred of them all. So, he had no justification for hurting the one woman he loved more than any other. Vows, when made with the kind of love they felt for each other, were never meant to be broken. Paolo will have to do everything in his power to convince Trinity that he deserves a second chance.
The first romance novel I ever read was Cinderella! I devoured Disney’s version of romance until I was eleven, and then I discovered Mills & Boons. In those days kissing was the most explicit intimacy disclosed: the hero and heroine went to bed and came out the next day with smiles! I had no idea what happened, but I was intrigued. My mom had shelves and shelves of them. Over the long summer breaks, I barely left my bedroom! My busy parent had no idea what I was up to. I’ve always been fascinated with love stories. I started writing in college, but I never expected anyone would ever read my whimsical musings. LOL! Now years later, after husband and kids, and a solid career in finance I’ve started publishing those early ideas.
I write my stories so that every woman would be inspired to find the other half of themselves. With every story I tell, my Caribbean sisters are highlighted. Our culture is a melting pot of all ethnicities, where love has no color. We love who we love and make no apology for it. These stories are also infused with my love for sports and action thrillers. I’m an avid sports fan. Tennis, football, track and basketball are my favorites. I devour dramas and action movies. So it’s to be expected that my books have a healthy dose of adventure.
Writing romance novels has been a dream I never knew I had. It was born out of suddenly having a little extra time with the kids out of the house. I absolutely love this creative outlet.
Author’s Creed I like women strong, and my men stronger! I like my sex raunchy but meaningful!
I couldn’t get past chapter 7. Paolo cheated on his wife. He thought she’d get over it. Somehow he still turns her on. Their children are team Dad. The son tells his dad his mom’s business. There is NO LOYALTY to their own mother. No anger towards their cheating father. The way the whiny college aged daddy’s girl checked her mom for checking her dad is insane. The way he manhandled a woman that he cheated on is so wrong. The same weak bastard that cheated on their mom gets all the love and none of the blame. I just can’t anymore. How damn needy and pathetic.
I can honestly say that I’m disappointed, but glad it was free.
Fabulous read, Paolo is a good man a true Alpha realizing he did his wife wrong apologizing. A lot of men would have slept with the secretary when she first put it out there. The love Trinity and Paolo have for each other and to be married that long that’s just beautiful. I thought my Aunt & Uncle had a happy marriage but he cheated on her all of there marriage, from the marriage ceremony til the divorce 30 something years later. I can name others that was just as bad, the only good marriage I saw was my mom’s baby sister her husband treats her like a Queen and caters to her every whim. Those men are hard to find & so is a good women.
D.M. Mortier does it again. This book made me laugh and cry. The arrogance and cockiness of a very handsome and mature man, who is intelligent and rich how can he act so carelessly. This man, Paolo, having been married over twenty years to his best friend, Trinity, allowed her to believe that he had cheated on her. To the point that she filed for a divorce, she still loved him, but she was truly hurt. And to also not let her know how much danger she and the children were in from the mob boss he had judged and sentenced. Everything worked in the end so we did get a happy ending.
Someone tells you something is one thing, but for your own eyes to deceive you !? 🤔 … is a whole different beast! For 2 years, she has been suffering from her husband’s betrayal, married for twenty plus years and three children in the mixed… she saw it with her own two eyes, or so she thought. Things are not always, what they seem, in this case there was an explanation, however, it took Paolo over 2 years to come clean and with him a whole load of danger following and threatening his family. It’s not a long read but it’s packed with twists and turns that will keep you enthralled.
D.M.Motier has done it again! I love All her books and this is no exception. Paolo and Trinity are childhood sweethearts. Unfortunately, Trinity walked in Paolo’s office during a bad time. Can their marriage be repaired? “Sacred Vows” has all the details and emotions. My only complaint is, the bedroom scenes are not as hot.
💔⚖️ REVIEW: A Raw, Emotional Tale of Heartbreak, Betrayal & the Fight for Redemption ⚖️💔
Some love stories begin with passion. Others begin again after devastation. This one does both, and it had me hooked from the very first page.
Trinity and Paolo Falcone’s story isn’t your typical romance, it’s a deeply adult, emotionally complex, and utterly real journey through betrayal, broken vows, and the haunting question: Can love survive the unimaginable?
Trinity is a woman you root for. Her pain is raw, her anger justified, and her resilience undeniable. Paolo, on the other hand, is a man caught between who he was… and who he wants to be again, for the woman he should’ve never hurt. Watching him fight for her trust, for their family, for redemption, was both painful and powerful.
What makes this book stand out is its honesty. It doesn’t romanticize infidelity, it confronts it head-on, showing the wreckage it causes and the strength it takes to even consider forgiveness. Every emotion is earned. Every page pulses with regret, love, and a desperate longing for a second chance.
To the author: You’ve written a story that hurts beautifully. It’s graceful, bold, and unflinchingly human. A love story that doesn’t pretend to be perfect, and that’s exactly what makes it unforgettable.
This is more of a 4.5. I enjoyed this book. I was invested in the characters and the plot. The reason for the 4.5 is that the story was a bit fantastical at times. Not enough to cause me to stop reading but enough to catch my attention. Thankfully Ms. Mortier is a master at drawing you in. I recommend this but understand that there will be at least one scene where you might pause for a moment and think, "really??". lol. Overall an enjoyable read.
I really do like this author’s style of writing. She usually mixes romance with suspense in an interesting way but this book just didn’t land for me. I give this 3 1/2 stars because of the grammar.
