Quinley Bevan doesn’t expect to get smacked in the face by intense sexual chemistry during the meeting, but Isaiah Hale—dark, masculine, rugged—sets off all her hormonal fireworks. More, as a dominant shifter, the enforcer pulls at her submissive nature and calls to her inner cat. Both his power and stabilizing strength are plain drugging.

Their agreement is pretty standard: If they don’t imprint on each other within two years, they’ll dissolve the mating. But with his cat holding back, danger lurking around corners, and her true mate making a reappearance, things might be more complicated than they bargained for.

When he first joined Find Your Match . com, Isaiah wasn’t confident he’d be paired with someone who truly fit him. But he feels a kinship with Quinley. The healer stirs up his protective instincts and ticks his every box. He always envisioned that he’d mate a fellow dominant, but this submissive healer pulls him in like no other.
Still, he doesn’t expect to feel possessive of her so fast—she’s a relative stranger. But as soon as he puts the claiming brand on her neck, everything in him screams Mine.

His cat, though, doesn’t view her as its mate. The animal is still angry at being unable to have the female it was predestined to claim. But when Quinley’s own fated mate comes sniffing around and she becomes a target of their enemies, the cat is finally in agreement with Isaiah on one vital thing: Quinley belongs to them now, and they’ll never let her go.

Ya'll are probably sick of hearing this, but it's still true and still needs saying...Suzanne Wright is one of my ride or die authors and I stan all her books. Are they formulaic AF with lead characters that are usually variations of the same person? Yes. And I don't care. Because, for me, they are guaranteed guilty pleasure reads and I am here for it every single time.

So just know that.

For this book we revisited the Olympus Pride. And, while I will never love this series as much as my BELOVED Dark in You or Phoenix Pack series, I still enjoy it well enough. I will admit that, now that we are six books deep, the characters from previous books in this series are starting to all blend together a little bit...but that's neither here nor there.

As always, I enjoyed the pack world and dynamic. And I REALLY loved the whole added element of what amounts to a marriage of convenience/arranged marriage situation. Delicious.

Quinley and Isiah had great chemistry and I just enjoyed their story. I liked all the Olympus/Blackfoot drama as well. Could have gone for more of it actually. I also could have gone for a little more time and relationship development before their actual "moment." But I still really enjoyed this and foresee many re-reads to come.

3.5 stars rounded up

Like many other reviewers say about this author's books, there's a certain formulaic quality to them and you generally have an idea of typical character traits, behaviors, and what to expect, but there's a comfort in reading many of her paranormal books because of that. This one diverged a little differently for me since it's an arranged mating via a matching website and some other elements, so I enjoyed that. I also appreciated that the communication was stellar between the main couple, oh my goodness they had in-depth conversations, reassured each other, and were completely dedicated to their mating fully developing. I did feel like something was missing and I have no idea what it was, it bugged me quite a bit since I was having a great time reading and yet, I wasn't as immersed as I wished I was, but that could still be remnants of my moodiness.

Quinley (h) is my second favorite FMC of this series so far (Bree from book 1 remains my favorite) and is the first submissive shifter that I've read of this author's that I can recall. I adored her inner strength and assertiveness, submissiveness didn't mean that she allowed herself to be walked all over. Her inner feline was also hilarious with its death stare and creepiness. She was rejected as a teenager by her fated mate, which was obviously devastating, however she simply wanted to move along and still have a happy life. Isaiah (H) was a solid MMC and an enforcer of the pride whose fated mate was a human in a happy relationship. He also wanted to be settled down, though his inner feline was a harder sell on that. His mom is also a submissive so he had a lot of respect for the designation and knew how to show Quinley the caring side of him she needed to be comfortable. Per usual of guys in this world, he's uber protective, but he also acknowledged that he needed to not steamroll all the time.

This author writes high steam and tends to lean towards rougher physical intimacy so plenty of that. I personally didn't love Isaiah's kink of free use (I think that's what this qualifies as) but that's personal taste. I loved them together and this felt lower angst for me, in spite of all the talking of fate vs. chosen mate and the question looming of whether the imprint bond would develop. They do very much choose each other and build something together, though I wish there was even more one on one bonding moments because I always want more of those. There's also still some drama and there is, of course, a suspense plot complete with danger and violence. The sporadic incorporation of the suspense plot might be what kept me less engaged now that I think about that, it wasn't as central as some of the other plots have been.

Written in third person, multi-POV (a few instances from a villain's perspective). No ow drama, some om drama from h's fated mate, and neither were virgins (let me say, the fact that H didn't have a prior f-buddy popping in and making a scene was awesome; he did have some casual prior relationships and h also did too).

Many cameos from prior books in the series and a fantastic couple of scenes involving an eating contest with my favorite wolverine shifter. Some of the other characters' behaviors, which were funny earlier in the series, get a little tiring when they continuously pop up throughout other books too, but overall I'm fond of this shifter group a lot and keep coming back to their series specifically.

The climax does require some suspension of disbelief, I feel, but it does wrap everything up nicely. The HEA is assured with a strong bond between the human and animal sides. I don't know how many more books she'll have in this series, but there's at least a couple more I think so these two I'm sure will be cameos in other books still.

*1-18-25 listened to the audiobook. The narrator did a good job, especially since she was also doing the male voice as well. Not bad at all.

I was really looking forward to a rejected mate situation… and it was something new… but SW doesn’t really do feels, so this follows the standard outline… danger/kidnapping, ex-partner drama, a couple bad guys, but nothing heavy. (no angst)

If you’re this deep in the series, you know that she’s very formulaic and readers typically enjoy it or don’t. I’m a huge fan and have read pretty much everything she’s ever released, and I reread them often, but more in a comfort read kinda way.

The book opens with Quinley being rejected by her mate, then it FFW nine years later with her and Isaiah both joining the find your mate dating site. I liked both main characters, and I found their chemistry believable. I loved Quinley’s personality. She was strong while still being calm AND mature, which was a nice change after suffering through annoying Bailey.

I always enjoy new shifter species, but I was confused a bit by the indestructibility of the Black-footed Cat shifter. I know Alex the wolverine can take a beating, but it seemed completely unbelievable.

Bottom Line- Much better than the previous book. IMO the H’s of this series are always a little flat, but this h was the best we’ve had since Bree. There’s a bad guy gang trying to kill them, and the ex-mate comes on the scene around 30%. It looks like she’s setting things up for Elle next book… maybe… I think it could be Joaquin… but I’m hoping it’s Gabriel. My only concern is that I’m SO over her Damian is Beelzebub/anti-Christ, etc., etc. shtick. It was bearable when she was a teenager, but that shits OLD now. I don’t know if I could handle an entire book from her POV.

This one was a fun change of pace. I'm tagging it with my "marriage of convenience" label because it's an arranged mating story.

In this book, we have two shifters who are both unable to be with their fated mates - hers because he rejected her in favor of a mating that would make him pack alpha, and his because she was already with someone else when he found her - but are determined to make a life with a partner anyway. And I loved it - I loved the resilience, the vulnerability, the courage they show when they decide they're moving on and they will be happy, goddamn it.

So the arranged mating is a service offered by a website. It has seekers fill out a super extensive personality questionnaire and suggests matches based on that - people who seem to have complimentary personalities, and goals / worldviews that match up. It doesn't allow for dating or hook ups - you meet the person, and if there's a spark of compatibility, you move directly into a committed relationship for a set time (2 years) to see if you imprint on each other. It requires commitment right out of the gates. It's a brilliant idea, honestly, and I enjoyed seeing it play out. These two fit well together, and the bond they form is lovely.

It gave me an all new appreciation for non-fated mates, honestly. Usually, in shifter books, the fated mate thing is this big, holy grail-esque draw ... but if you think about it, there's something even more lovely about a couple of brave people living in this world of fated, perfect couples, choosing each other, knowing it could all fall apart. It's not a second-best thing. It makes their relationship even more special, because they had to take a leap of faith in each other, and work for it. I really, really enjoyed it.

3.5 stars. This was not phenomenal, and not the author’s best, but, it was solidly enjoyable. It would make more sense if you read the earlier books in this series, but you could read it as a standalone if you wanted, and you wouldn’t be lost. For this series, I liked it more than Bailey and Deke's book, but not as much as Bree and Alex's book.

This author has a formula – and I don’t mind it, it works. Her books are great palate cleansers between other reads, because you know what to expect, and, while they’re not always amazing, they reliably deliver a good time without being too heavy, or too fluffy without enough plot.

This book is her usual Thing, but it makes some minor changes. Her formula is: Gruff hero and sassy heroine dance around each other, then they get together while 3 different potential villains shoot at them and try to kidnap them, they try to figure out who it is, meanwhile, their ex OW or OM cause some drama, and side characters add banter and comic relief.

This book changed the, “They try to figure out who the villain is” part, because they know who the villain is all along. They just don’t know WHERE they are, to catch them and make them stop. There’s also a bit of free use kink in the steamy parts, which is new.

And, the “hero and heroine dance around each other” part is a bit different, since Quinley, the heroine, and Isaiah, the hero, meet online and go into an arranged mating agreement, after each of them gets left by their “true mate.” It’s like they use a dating app, on steroids. So, that takes away from the “they dance around each other” part, since they enter their arrangement trying to become a couple deliberately and quickly.

I appreciate the author putting a new spin on her Usual Thing. But also, since there was no, “Will they or won’t they” stage – even though we know they always will – I do like that stage. So, the absence of it did take away from a little bit of the relationship-development process. But they’re both fun and likable, and I didn't feel like they lacked chemistry (the way I felt for Bailey and Deke in their book). I liked how Quinley was a submissive shifter who turned into a tiny cat, but she wasn’t a damsel in distress. I like that she was still part of the final battle, and wasn’t benched during it. (I know this author would never bench a heroine from the action, but I wasn't sure what a tiny cat could do in a fight - it turns out, a lot of damage!)

As a side note, it was distracting how this story kept calling Quinley "short," but it said she was 5'6. That's a tall woman - or at least, 2 inches taller than average! Maybe shifters are taller than humans - but if that's part of the worldbuilding, I don't think it's ever been said before, in past books? So it took me out of the story, any time this book was like, "She's 5'6, so tiny!" It talked about her like she was 5'1. It made me be like, "Does this author know how tall women generally are?"

Anyway, if you enjoy this author’s formula, this delivers that, while also putting a new spin on some of it. If you don’t enjoy her Usual Thing, this probably won’t change your mind. It seemed to set up the next book to be Elle and that mysterious emotionless guy, Gabriel.

🦸🏻‍♂️ Hero Spotlight: Isaiah

Isaiah is a pallas cat shifter and a formidable enforcer in the Olympus Pride. Years ago, he met his fated mate—a human woman engaged to another man and completely unaware of the shifter world. For a time, Isaiah held onto hope that fate might intervene, but when she and her fiancé began IVF treatments, he knew the door had closed. Resigned but not defeated, Isaiah turned to a shifter matchmaking app, seeking an arranged bond that could offer companionship and stability.

🦸🏼‍♀️ Heroine Spotlight: Quinley

Quinley, a submissive black-footed cat shifter, met her fated mate at sixteen. Summoning her courage, she confessed the truth to him—only to be dismissed. He was older, from a prestigious family, and had already planned to mate with the alpha’s daughter, securing his future leadership role. Quinley was left heartbroken and humiliated. Years later, determined to move forward, she signs up for the same matchmaking app, where she crosses paths with Isaiah.

🔥 Plot Pulse

From the moment they meet, Quinley and Isaiah share a quiet understanding and mutual respect. They agree to a two-year trial mating period, hoping to imprint and forge a true mate bond. But their journey is anything but simple. Isaiah’s cat still yearns for his fated mate, and Quinley carries emotional scars from her past. They’re virtual strangers stepping into a deeply intimate arrangement, knowing it may take time—and patience—to build something real.

Quinley continues working at the pride-owned salon with her sister, even after moving to Olympus Pride to live with Isaiah. Her hope? To avoid crossing paths with her fated mate and his chosen partner—the same woman who’s made a habit of bullying and belittling her.

❤️‍🔥 What Hit Home

• I appreciated how both Isaiah and Quinley enter this relationship with eyes wide open. They know it won’t be easy, but they’re committed to trying, supporting each other through the uncertainty.
• Quinley’s decision to leave behind the pride that hurt her and embrace a fresh start with Isaiah felt empowering and emotionally honest.

🤨 Room to Grow

• I struggled with the premise that, in a world where fated mates exist, Isaiah and Quinley aren’t each other’s. It added tension, yes—but also a lingering sense of emotional dissonance, especially when Quinley’s true mate reenters the picture.

🎧 Narration Vibes

Told in dual POV, the audiobook is narrated solo by Samantha Cook. Normally, I gravitate toward dual or full-cast narration, but Suzanne Wright is one of my auto-buy authors. Her world-building—from Phoenix Pack to Mercury Pack to Olympus Pride—is consistently immersive, and I’ve devoured every installment. I wasn’t about to skip this one, even with my usual narration preferences.

📝 Final Thoughts

This story explores what it means to choose connection over fate, healing over history. Isaiah and Quinley aren’t perfect, but they’re trying—and that makes their journey worth listening to.

FMC/ QUINLEY:- a black-foot shifter cat, Quinley is an unranked member of Crimson pride and is a submissive healer.

MMC/ISAIAH:- an enforcer and bodyguard to the Olympus Pride alpha Tate, Isaiah is a pallas cat.

Introduction

Quinley met her true mate when she was a teenager, but was rejected. Rather her TM signed an agreement with the alpha of her pride for his daughter Nazra. Isaiah's TM is a human female who has a fiancée and is pregnant. Having suffered for some time and wanting to move on, both reach out for an arranged mating.

Review **spolier**

Overall, it was an average read.

Isaiah and Quinley developed a cute (and steamy) relationship, despite it being an arranged mating. But before they even got into one, bullets came knocking on Olympus Pride's doors, which eventually resulted into Isaiah becoming a target.

Though we see action, and reaction, I didn't find it climactic. Even the end where it was supposed to be a climax, I just thought it to be illogical. If you already involved Alex, just get him to do his wolverine thing and enter without alerting anybody and pick the brothers off together. Or prop a window open for Quin. I mean there were multiple ways that didn't involve getting injured. Or the roof. Maybe, I am reaching. But it didn't feel like it when I read the scene.

So it made it challenging for me to fully connect in the end. But otherwise, it was an okay read.

Suzanne Wright writes something, I read it. Those are the rules. This was very middle of the road for her. I liked the arranged mating angle, that was new and fun. Also the h being submissive was a nice change of pace but she honestly wasn’t all that different besides getting left out of some fights. I’d like to see a super sweet h with no bite from SW, that could be fun.

As is typical everything else was the same: life threatening danger this time in the form of a brand new pack that everyone has always known about but they’re only now they’re making trouble for their pack and so the h & H’s lives were endangered no less than 3 times. There was the instalove, ultra possessive, alpha shifter things and the random ultra quirky thing about the h. In this case she has a never ending appetite so much so that she can beat grown men Wolverine shifters in eating contests…🤷🏼‍♀️ idk why SW always has to add in some party trick for her h’s to seem unique but she sure does it.

I can’t really complain though, SW is a comfort read author for me for sure. I love knowing what I’m getting, it’s just some books are better than others and unfortunately this wasn’t one of her best, but it was still enjoyable!

PS random of me to care, but wtf was with everyone commenting on how short the h was? Am I insane? 5’6” is not short for a woman in my eyes. Maybe that’s because I’m 5’4” which is the average height for a woman in the US, but still calling her fun sized and talking about putting her in your pocket… that’s how people talk about people who are 4’11”-5’2”…like c’mon. When she introduced herself as “height challenged” and that’s why she felt like him being 6’2” was too tall for her to even message him I was expecting her to be soo short. Anyway rant over, bye haha
ETA: SW explanation for this is that it’s known that shifters are taller than humans so that’s why she’s considered short…but then in my eyes 6’2” ain’t that tall for a man so should we be calling Isaiah short too? 😅

Boring

I normally love this author and this series but not this time. This book was filled with a bunch of filler conversations and details that did not move the story along at all! It's like the author was just trying to meet a word count. This was not good, it really only deserved one star but I gave an extra because I got to catch up with many characters from previous books.

When He Dares is the sixth book in the Olympus Pride series and features Quinley and Isaiah. These two shifters didn't have luck with their true mates and enter into an arranged mating. In true Suzanne fashion, this story is mashup of two people seeing only each other and cementing their bond, a villain on the loose and some heavy "outside of the relationship" drama.

Quinley is sure of Isaiah but her true mate is sniffing around and Isaiah has no intention of giving her up. He will stand toe-to-toe with the man that could have had her even though danger is nipping at their paws.

“You look at me, and you see someone who has no real claim to her. But it’s actually the other way around. You gave up what you could have had. You hear me? You had a right to her soul, but you gave it up. And I then took it. Claimed it. Wrote my fucking name on it. She is mine.”

Quinley has been hurt and is hesitant in some ways about entering into an arranged mating but not because she isn't sure of Isaiah. Her nature compels her to think about Isaiah more than herself and he does a good job at alleviating her fears. Quinley is completely smitten with Isaiah and his dominant nature.

“Your tongue is a gift, your cock is a must-have, you fuck like a master, and your bed is the comfiest thing ever. I’m giving myself a mental pat on the back for mating you.”

When He Dares was action packed and steamy and had a delicious dominant/submissive vibe. Isaiah was yummy and Quinley was sweet but not too submissive that it bothered me. Suzanne follows a formula and I love her for that. I do wish she'd bring back another true mate book however. Overall, a decent installment in this series.

This one I may read. I do like SW, the only thing is, she's become repetitive to me. But this one looks different: for one, maybe not an unrealistic kick your ass down the stairs without spilling my coffee wearing 6 inch spike heels, a smirk on her face, a great pithy verbal setdown special "woman" heroine who can handle 6 men in the bed and 5 on the street and still be a lady. Sorry, did I get that backward? Anywho, I'm gonna read. Maybe.

Yeah, read it, no, no change. Surprise!!!!

Another brilliant heroine.

Suzanne Wright creates such amazing characters. The women are just the best, I want to be a member of the Olympus Price so.I can spend my time.with these fantastic females. Quinley is a Black Foot cat (looks just like a domestic cat but with black feet) and a member of the Crimson River pack Black Foot cats run their packs differently they have a hierarchy and Quinley and her family are at the bottom of it. When she is fourteen Quinley runs into her fated mate, young though she is the feeling is undeniable. Unfortunately her mate Zaire does not feel the same way about her, when Quinley is sixteen she learns Zaire is going to imprint (another form of mating) on the Alpha's daughter and one day rule the pack with her. Quinley goes to him wanting to stop Zaire before he does something so damaging to them both. Zaire rejects her, calling what she feels "a crush" and that's not the worst. Someone else overhears and for the next nine years Quinley is subjected to ridicule and abuse from the elite pack members. Now, nine years on, Zaire is returning to take his place as Alpha, Quinley cannot stay and swear fealty to him and his mate so she signs up for a dating all that matches shifters who are seriously looking for a mate with whom they can imprint, due to not being able to claim their true mate for whatever reason. Quinley is strong, decisive, has a good heart and is sexy as hell so it's no surprise that when Isaiah from the Olympus Price sees her profile he is caught............. The two are genuinely committed to making things work between them but then...Zaire turns up having realised (only after she left) that Quinley was right all those years ago............... I love this author and.I love her books, my only quibble, and it's totally a me issue, is with The sex scenes, they are very graphic, but they fit the stories and the characters so I just sometimes skim those bits, like I said totally a me issue..............

Honestly at this point I don't care which couple her books are about, I'll read anything that Suzanne Wright puts out, especially if it's in the Olympus Pride / Mercury Pack / Pheonix Pack world. Actually, writing that gives me the itch to reread all of those books. Did I just decide what I'm reading next? Go me! It's never that easy!

i really need to stop reading Suzanne Wright books, because my god, the writing is poor. maybe because i’ve read so many good books and fic lately, maybe because i write fic, but i just can’t stand her awkward way of writing anymore.

and again, since when did we start putting literal pornhub tropes into books and acting like it’s nbd lmao i’m skeeved out man

Mates who were rejected by their fated mate and instead enter an arranged imprinting mating. Total communication porn- there are ZERO miscommunication tropes here and it was so easy.

Quin isn’t my favorite FMC of this series but she’s definitely up there. both MCs are so rational and caring, just an easy delightful external conflict read.

When He Dares (Cesaret Ettiğinde?!)

Açıkçası olaylara bakış açısını beğenmekle beraber kitabın konusunu hiç beğenmedim. Aksiyon az, olay yok, dümdüz işe gidip geliyorlar yani az bi suları dalgalandırsaymış.

Çok şaapmadım Suzanne Hanım - başka rejected mate konularına artık kısmet. 🧿

Time to end this series - read on KU

Typically, I love Mrs. Wright's books. However, I have not enjoyed this series. I wouldn't have read past the first one if they weren't free on KU.

Feral Sins is my favorite PNR book. I reread it when I'm grumpy. While it wasn't perfect, the relationship between Trey and Taryn is great. The steamy scenes in that book are HOT. (I have the original version. Later, she changed a scene because readers thought it was out of character for Trey, but I loved that scene.) There is so much chemistry in that book and most of that series and the first spin off series. This whole thing has been flat. The Phoenix Pack series was so funny. This series counts on immature behavior for humor, and it was only mildly funny when first brought up.

The grammar in all of her books needs to be edited. And using "stood" is so not an American thing. And she didn't use it in her earlier series. It just seems like she's getting lazier or someone else is ghostwriting this series. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter.

I downloaded this book weeks ago and had to force myself to finally read it. I definitely did some skimming. Way too much of the book was repetitive filler material.

i’m biased but who cares. wright is simply an author that can write a story and i won’t care what it’s about, ill pick it up and i love it. it’s a rare instance she isn’t my kryptonite, especially when it comes to her shifter stories.

i’ve said it before, she has a formula and it works. this particular novel deviated from it slightly, but it works. i thought the plot was unique. very different from her other submissive and/or imprinting stories.

i’d like to see her do another shifter + human story though. i’m not sure we’ll get it since elle’s book is next and im not sure if there’s another character in this pride who will get one.

I liked Quinley and Isiah as a couple and I love the whole arranged marriage trope. I think they're one of her better couples (I'm side-eyeing that irritating Bailey here).

I enjoyed the beginning and end but I struggled with the middle of the book. It seemed to drag on, and on and became repetitive.

I enjoyed the read, but didn't love it like I do her older books

I own & have read every book, minus 1, that Suzanne Wright has written/released. Most of them are incredibly good w/ amazing O.L.L., (Out Loud Laughs). But every once in awhile, a book will have too much repeated conversation/internal thoughts in it. Here's an example:

***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***
Quinley talks with Isaiah about being glad they went ahead with the website. Isaiah will agree & add too the topic of conversation. About 3 Pages later, they'll start to talk about something else. Then in the next chapter, the "exact" conversation of visiting the website is repeated again for another page worth or 3. (Or it'll be the same subject but slightly different way of discussing it.) And then again and again and over again ... It can be about this topic or how they can't be without each other, or about their TM insecurities, or another topic that's based around these type of emotions & more....
***END OF POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***

My main reason for the complaint about this is that this particular book has close to or even more than 3/4 of it filled with repeated conversations & internal thoughts. So much so, that although I couldn't wait to get my hands on & read another book release of hers, I actually skipped a bunch of paragraphs because it was just so freaking repetitive. Ugh. I Despise leaving bad reviews on her work. But it's important that people get TRUE, HONEST reviews & not just a bunch of glossed over ones because they love the author & don't want to offend them. "I" don't want to offend the author either. But I Hate it when I read fake or pushed reviews & I'll not leave one myself. Not fair to readers OR the author for that matter.

With All that said, and even though I gave this particular book/story, a 2.5-3 star review, I still recommend this read and especially this series. If you like shifter books, paranormal romance, & of course, to laugh & laugh hard, then you'll enjoy the series as well. Please note that although it's not necessary to read all books or even read them in order, I still would recommend reading all & in order. It'll help explain the other characters in the series & why certain things are or happen.
Either way - Enjoy a laugh.
