I recently finished a quick and easy read that kept me hooked from start to finish.
I'm excited to see how the next books in the series unfold because this author might just become one of my new go to authors!

The story is painted with such vivid and evocative words that you can almost feel the crisp autumn air, the sense of Halloween magic, and the fleeting beauty of the season. It's like stepping into a beautifully illustrated fall-themed dream. The main character, Hannah, is incredibly likeable, and the narrative seamlessly transitions between the waking world and the dream world, making it a delight to follow.

Maple Hollow, the setting, is so richly detailed that it feels like a character itself. Hannah's journey there, driven by the mystery of her Aunt Jewelia's disappearance, is both captivating and atmospheric. I found myself wishing for more interaction with the Dream Haunters—those moments were tantalizingly brief—but I’m hopeful we'll see more of them in future books. And you can bet I'll be ready to dive in when they arrive.

This book does have some of the typical quirks you might find in self-published works. There are areas where the editing feels more polished than others. Some parts of the story flow smoothly, while others come across a bit more choppy. From time to time, you might spot issues like passive voice and head-hopping, though these aren't overly common.

Overall, this book is a perfect autumn treat despite the fact that I’m reading it during the summer. You’ll probably catch me reading it again when fall time rolls around. It blends mystery, fantasy, and a touch of the supernatural in a way that's both engaging and enchanting. The author's talent for creating a vivid atmosphere and an intriguing plot has definitely piqued my interest for the rest of the series. If you enjoy stories with a mix of reality and fantasy, and characters that feel genuine and relatable, this book is a must-read. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!

Thank you to netgalley for providing me with an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Too much tell and a lack of show makes for robotic flow.

I bumped the rating up to two stars because Pearl Hewitt’s narration goes the extra mile. Also the bare bones premise was promising.

Hannah has a string of bad luck. She loses her job and finds out her aunt is missing. She moves to Maple Hollow, a town where nothing is what it seems including the pumpkin patch. Soon after searching for her aunt, she discovers she has special abilities.

The weak execution with underdeveloped characters is where this book unravels. The writing is redundant, choppy, and riddled with info dumps. The storyline is wrought with cliches and stilted dialogue. The characters including the protagonist are two dimensional. Hannah’s personality did not shine through for me. I didn’t feel any connection, nor did I feel like I knew her once the book ended. Just the facts that happened without depth. Melodramatic villains better suited for a children’s movie than a cozy fantasy put me over the edge.

I love to get lost in a myriad of worlds, but this failed to hold my attention. As much as I love talking cats, they couldn’t save this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.

A cosy fantasy perfect for Halloween season.

This was a Listen Now on NetGalley and I needed something to listen to, so this ticked the box.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't cosy fantasy! The story follows Hannah, who heads to Maple Hollow after the mysterious disappearance of her Aunt Jewelia (and I'm glad I was listening, because the spelling of that name alone would have done me in - yikes!)

The atmosphere is perfectly Halloween-y, with dark and stormy nights, pumpkins and cats. Hannah is a likeable enough protagonist - very wholesome and sweet. She introduces herself to everyone in the town as she meets them, and quickly becomes a friend to several. Meanwhile, she sets about trying to learn more about the town's history, in order to solve the mystery of her Aunt's disappearance.

I liked the narrator, and her voice enhanced the vibe of the story. On paper, this would likely have disappointed through lack of excitement, but with this narrator it was like I got exactly what I was supposed to out of it. Low stakes and easy clues leading to a simple resolution.

Admittedly, the easy nature of the story meant I wasn't 100% tuned in, 100% of the time. I also had to listen at 2x speed so that I didn't doze off. Still, it was easy enough to follow and I didn't seem to miss much.

Overall, it was an easy listen that was a pleasant way to kill some time. I'd recommend it for fans of cosy mysteries - particularly those who like a sprinkling of fantasy and a dash of Halloween.

With thanks to NetGalley for an audio ARC

Very sad about this ARC.

2.5

The plot is a nice cozy magical story with some actual stakes, but it lost me so fast with the lack of editing. So much of what we actually got were just descriptions of things that felt more like notes you'd add on a movie script for the set dressers, and physical movements you'd add in brackets on a script so that actors know what to do.

It would have been a novela if we got rid of all the unnecessary sentences going over physical movements one by one. We don't need to read things like ''she got up and put on her coat. she walker towards the door and reached for the knob with her hand. She turned the knob around and opened the door. She crossed the door one foot at a time. She stood on the other side of the door.''

That's not an actual quote but these are:

''She ran immediately to the bathroom. She approached the sink and fumbled for the cold knob. As water began to flood out of the faucet, she cupped her hands under the stream and splashed pools of water on her face''

She ran to the bathroom to splash cool water on her face.

Done.

''She studied the oversized menu. It was approachable, with lots of variety. She opted for the wood fired pizza, adding some unusual toppings to keep it interesting. Without writing it down, the waitress acknowledged her order and disappeared into the kitchen''

She looked at the long menu and ordered.

i saw the cover of this book on netgalley (thank you goes to them!) and also in the audiobook category so i knew i had to try it out. it seemed like a fast and cozy read and it was!

🦇 this was giving cozy fantasy vibes and it was so atmospheric! you definitely could feel the autumn within these pages.
🦇 i also could relate to hannah quite a lot: she loved thunderstorms, preferred animal company over people, basically was an introvert, never knew both of her grandads either.
🦇 loved the mercury retrograde inclusion, i find astrological things so fascinating!
🦇 it does read a bit too ya-ish but i was still enjoying it. i think even the teenagers could read this. the writing was also easy to get into and nothing too lyrical or hard to grasp.
🦇 i loved the idea of cats being able to talk to you in a spiritual manner. 🖤
🦇 it was a good time to read it as well because american congress confirmed days ago that aliens were in our oceans and since then i've gone into the rabbit hole regarding egypt's mysteries such as the pyramids and sphinx and in this book other dimensions and pyramids were mentioned also!
🦇 the idea behind the dream haunters is quite unsettling lol i have seen this done before but it'd be fascinating and scary if it happened in real life.
🦇 morgan was my favourite character. she came across as such a spiritual and emotionally intelligent person. kinda like a mentor to hannah at the same time. i loved their conversations.
🦇 music doing things that it did in this story was a bit cheesy though.
🦇 when stuff hit the fan at like 87% i did find it a bit cringy which made me decrease the rating from 3.5 to 3, i thought it was gonna be a bit better than that, but honestly i still liked it, it just wasn't my favourite.
🦇 this is the perfect book to read just before or during halloween as it takes place in october. and if you like cozy books that you just have a good and easy time with, you'll breeze through this!

This was a NetGalley audio read.

I like stories like this. Uncovering family secrets, hidden legacy, travelling to an ancestral home, etc. I love the cozy fall atmosphere. I love Pearl Hewitt’s voice, so that was an added bonus. Hannah is a likeable FMC. This is a great Fall read.

This was a fun quick read that is perfect if you want more of a cozy book to read for fall/Spooky Season. With a long lost aunt, magical pumpkin patch, a dreamworld, and talking cats, what else could you want? While I really enjoyed this book, I hope that the following books in the series really dig deep into character development and cementing those complex personalities that make the characters unique. I like Hannah and Jewelia well enough, but there is SO much potential for these characters and the series as a whole.

I did listen to this as an audiobook. I enjoyed the narrator’s voice, and thought she did a great job with the story. I also loved the bit about the author at the end of the book! I found it very interesting. Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself!

Overall, I’d rate this 4 stars. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I need ALL the talking cats! ❤️

Wow!.. Megan Mary really knows how to create a magical mystery!

This storyline had me gripped from the very beginning.. I don't want to say too much about the actual storyline and give the exciting bits away.

I absolutely loved the main character, for she is brave, strong and quite determined to find out what happened to our aunt. I love the clues that she left for her.

I loved the pumpkin aspect, I thought that was a really cool concept.

I think that this book is perfect for getting into the spooky / witchy / Halloween vibe!

Also I have to say I listened to this through netgalley and the narrator was just perfect for this story.

The mystery and Halloween vibes kept me listening but I found myself totally tuning the audio out because there was so much telling and talking at us. We would get a scene and then that whole scene analyzed. I honestly felt lectured at a few times 🤣. The Halloween vibes were totally kitschy but fun….a magical pumpkin patch lol. I struggled with the narration too—sometimes the narrator did a great job and other times it was way too OTT and some of the side characters and villains voices were very cartoony. I’m not going to continue on with the series but for a very quick audio it wasn’t too bad to listen to.

Overall: 2.5

The Dream Haunters was a cozy fall read about Hannah Skye who goes on a journey to Maple Hollow after news that an aunt has gone missing. Maple Hollow is where dreams meet reality in a magical quest filled with shapeshifters, ancient legacies, and the thin veil between worlds.

If you are a fan of The Good Witch or Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, you will enjoy The Dream Haunters by Megan Mary.

The story sticks with Hannah and her aunt in Maple Hollow. There is no love interest or romance. It is YA appropriate, if not YA leaning.

Overall, a cozy, quick read for pumpkin season.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book did catch my attention. I enjoyed the narrator for the audiobook. I felt like there could be so much more for this book. More details and descriptions to understand what is going on and how things came to be. I did like the concept just wished the author would have developed the story a little more.

The Dream Haunters is a spooky mystery following Hannah Skye as she loses her job and seeks meaning in her life. This time of change occurs in October at the same time her Aunt Jewelia disappears. Aunt Jewelia was the last surviving member of Hannah's family of origin, but had never met Hannah, which didn't stop Jewelia from sending a cryptic letter right before her disappearance, urging Hannah to follow her to Maple Hollow. Maple Hollow is a seemingly enchanted island with perpetual Halloween vibes, overflowing with pumpkins, crystals, and spiritual vortexes. As Hannah takes up residence at the family manor, she begins to uncover mysteries about not only her missing aunt, but the island, it's inhabitants, and her lineage as well. This was such an interesting read and outside of my normal genre, but kept me hooked from the beginning to the cliffhanger end! I can't wait to read the next one.

Keep in mind that this book has common errors you'll find in self-publishing, but it was easy for me to move past these. The writing style is unique and may not fit everyone's tastes, but the story and plot are wonderful and perfect for jumping into the autumn season!

This story is perfect for those looking for a fun, mystical, fall vibes spooky read. Hannah, our main character, returns to her family's home on the island of Maple Hollow after her aunt has gone missing. The island is known for its pumpkin patch & fall festivities. While staying at her family's manor, she begins to uncover her family has a legacy in magical & mysterious things connected to the powers of those special pumpkins! 🎃 ✨️

Hannah receives assistance from many cats on the island & also in her dreams, which she discovers her family has a legacy & much power in the dream realm. A power that she must now learn to understand to not only save her aunt, but herself, & possibly the fate of the world. She is also assisted by the family groundskeeper at the manor & a local shop owner who is familiar with the supernatural & the powers of cats to help as guides between different realms.

This book was a light, entertaining book appropriate for all ages. It dives deep into exploring interesting mythology about our dreams & the powers they have. It offers good suspense as Hannah battles against evil forces aiming to trap people. For animal lovers, it's great to have a story so directly involved with animals driving the plot. If you're looking for a book that explores witchy, magical things, & gives you all those autumn vibes, I strongly suggest this book & I look forward to the rest of this series! 🍂 🍁

She was deep in the shadows, trying to find her way back up. Carefully choosing which mask to wear, which person she’d try to be. Anyone but herself.

Hannah is sure of only a few things: that she is down on her luck, and that she feels a powerful, unexplained draw to Maples Hollow... where her estranged Aunt Jewelia has just disappeared.
She does not know of her metaphysical heritage and the powers she possesses or that they are her aunt's only hope of rescue. Can she figure it out in time?

This is the debut book of a new series, The Witches of Maple Hollow.

Tropes:
discovering a fated destiny
good v evil
powerful heroine
reunited family/found family
magick/metaphysical ability

content warnings:
previous death of family members is mentioned (but occurs off page)
a handful of on-page fight scenes (no excessive gore or violence)

what I liked:
when I tell you that I LOVE this prose....

Raindrops sprawled like the roots of a fast-growing weed, then descended like the long legs of deep red wine cascading down an oversized cabernet glass.

The story is painted with vivid words that perfectly encapsulate the feeling of autumn; the sense of Halloween and pre-winter possibilities and the awe that comes only alongside beauty that you know is fleeting.
This book made me feel like I was nestled in a forest of changing leaves with a comforting cup of coffee in my hands.

On occasion, I see an artist put a piece of their soul into one of their works that resonates so well in my own that it almost feels familiar. This book was one of those times.

She had always felt like her lifeblood had been slowed, darkened. It didn’t run as quick, light, and fast as everyone else.

As she stared at the waning gibbous moon, she realized that the moon was teaching her all the time. Sometimes we stand in our brightness, sometimes we sit in our darkness, but at all times we must balance both sides of ourselves.

what I didn't like:
I'd love to see more of the dream haunters, but I suspect we will get more of them in upcoming books.
This book has a few errors common in self published works. Some sections are edited more thoroughly than others. Some sections flow extremely well while others are more abrupt. We encounter occasional issues like passive voice and head hopping (though not terribly frequent). I might normally take off stars for that, but I don't think I will this time, given that there are entire sections of this book that I want to print, frame, and hang on my walls to reread regularly. This is such a rare occurrence for me that I'm leaving my rating for this book at 5 stars.

Thank you Megan for the ARC of this book. It is out 3rd October.

I can confirm this book is perfect for fantasy lovers. Particularly perfect for me, as it includes everything I love and more in this genre!

Hannah is a little bit lost in life. Lonesome and now unemployed. She doesn't really hesitate when she gets a letter from her aunt Jewelia who lives in Maple Hallow, to catch a flight there. But Jewelia is missing, and Maple Hallow is going to wake something up within Hannah that will change her life forever. A mission to save her aunt by the end of Halloween, escaping the shadows that seem to follow her, entering dream worlds with talking cats and learning much, much more about herself and the magic of the world.

I loved Hannah's journey (I extra loved Old Man Adams hehe). It was magical and wholesome.
If you've felt different to everyone else, haven't you always wished there was a reason? Some magical world that belonged to you? Have you ever wondered if dreaming was actually being in another world? Have you ever tried to interrupt them? Yes? Well this book is for you.

It's fast paced, it's gripping and it's just a great adventure. It has amazing autumn / Halloween vibes! If you love learning about dreams, then like me, you'll find this fascinating. It'll bring up those childhood hopes of being wooshed away to another world: your real home with your real family. It'll make you want to fall asleep and dream and then perhaps journal them.

It's beautifully written with stunning descriptions of Maple Hallow and the goodies that celebrating Halloween brings. It's very magical to a point you feel like the author is the magic one, bringing you into their world so you can see it, hear it, feel it.

To be read on a stormy autumn night with a cat, blanket and hot chocolate! And plans for the pumpkin patch the following day.

This book is the "other world" you are looking for.

Hannah has had a run of bad luck, after losing her job and being kept up most nights by a recurring dreams she recieves a letter from her estranged aunt, unfortunately it is indecipherable but promptly After opening the letter she gets a phonecall from a detective saying Aunt Jewelia is missing. Hannah decides to up and leave her life to try and uncover the mystery of Aunt Jewelias dissappearane. Aunt Jewelia lives on a quant enchanted island "Maple hollow" which seems to be the epitome of Autmun incarnate. Will Hannah find Aunt Jewelia? Is there more than meets the eye of Maple hollow and its inhabitents?

This book took me a few chapters to get into, however once i did i found it a very easy quick read. There are a few 'plot holes' but i think that these will be uncovered in the subsequent books. i loved the cosy feel this book had and i found that i could easily picture the scenes in my head. my only gripe would be i would of liked the dream haunters to be introduced earlier and hinted at so you could really get a sense of urgency in finding aunt jewelia. i look forward to the next one.

Thank you Mary for allowing me to be an arc reader, i am honoured <3

Dream Haunters by Megan Mary is an enchanting cozy mystery set in Maple Hollow. It's a perfect book for those who love fall, Halloween, and all things magic.

Hannah Skye heads to Maple Hollow when she learns her Aunt Jewelia, her last remaining relative, is missing. While there, she begins to recognize that her family has a lot of secrets - and these secrets have a direct impact on her.

Will she figure out what she is supposed to learn from the residents of Maple Hollow? Will she rightfully take her place in the family line? Will she be able to save her aunt from the dream haunters? More importantly, will she be able to save the world?

Megan creates a wonderful scene and cast of characters. You won't want to miss this cozy mystery.

Dream Haunters is a metaphysical fantasy debut novel by author Megan Mary. Inspired by a vivid dream, this is a story set in the town of Maple Hollow. A place with a deep magical history that ties into FMC Hannah’s story.

Around the time Hannah loses her job, she receives a cryptic message from her Aunt Jewelia who is missing. This leads her to embark on a spiritual journey to the town of Maple Hollow. With the help of some familiars, she uncovers a magical family history and an evil order of shapeshifters called the “dream haunters”. It’s up to Hannah to stop them and save Maple Hollow before mercury retrograde is over. This novel explores many mystical themes such as spirit guides, portals, and the hidden meaning of dreams.

I enjoyed the setting of the story,
and how descriptive the author. This novel felt heavy on the fall vibes which I did enjoy, perfect for this time of the year. I did enjoy certain concepts, like the importance of felines and pumpkins. I did like Hannah as a character and enjoyed the progression of her spiritual journey. I look forward to knowing more about her family history, with the novel only being 177 pages I would have loved a heavier emphasis on Hannah’s discovery of her gifts/family history. The end wraps up a little too quickly for my taste. This was a 2.5 star read for me.

"The Dream Haunters" by Megan Mary is book 1 of her new Witches of Maple Hollow series. It's a teen/YA mystery.

I listened to the audibook narrated by Pearl Hewitt . She is a good narrator, but she was absolutely the wrong narrator for this book, in my opinion. The voice didn't fit the story at all. Other reviewers liked her narration of the book.

Hannah is a young lady who just lost her job and then gets an encrypted letter and a plane ticket from estranged Aunt Jewelia. Then she finds out her aunt is missing, so she packs and heads to her aunt's place across the country.

There is a talking cat, a hidden library, and pumpkin portals. There is a lot of teaching about Mercury Retrograde, Halloween, and power vortices. There is too much telling and not enough showing, though at the end there is more showing. It's a bit too simple for most anyone who is anyway into metaphysical stuff and likely to pick up this book.

I liked the cats. They were the best part.

🇺🇸 The Dream Haunters by Megan Mary was, unfortunately, not a book that resonated with me. I gave it 2 out of 5 stars, and honestly, I don’t think I was the ideal audience for this story. Even though I tried to approach it with an open mind, hoping that I would find something that would draw me in, I ultimately found it a bit too peculiar for my taste.

The concept and premise had potential, but the execution left me feeling disconnected. The narrative style was perhaps too unconventional, making it difficult for me to engage with the plot or characters. It felt as though I was constantly waiting for a turning point that never quite came. While I can appreciate unique storytelling approaches, this one didn’t land for me. There were moments where the strangeness of the plot overshadowed the emotional depth that I usually look for in a story, making it hard to invest in what was happening.

I can understand that for readers who enjoy more experimental or abstract narratives, this book might offer something intriguing, but for me, it missed the mark. That said, I wouldn’t discourage others from giving it a try—it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Sometimes, it’s all about finding the right match between book and reader, and this one wasn’t for me.

_____________________________________

🇫🇷 The Dream Haunters de Megan Mary n’a malheureusement pas su me convaincre.

Imagine this, it's a rainy fall day, you have the entire afternoon to wile away at your leisure with a warm drink, a cozy blanket, and a cuddly cat and you need the perfect book to fit the mood. This is the one for you. Megan Mary's way of writing will transport you directly to the small island of Maple Hollow where you will join Hannah and Old Man Adams in their search for the missing Aunt Jewelia. Megan Mary's style of writing is unlike anything I've read and is a masterful blend of fact and fiction to create a beautiful atmosphere in which the story grows.

Hannah, the FMC, is a sweet lost soul looking for answers and a place to belong. The story follows her journey to not only connect with distant family but also to find in herself what she has always suspected was missing. Unsatisfied with her current life, when a mysterious letter and one-way ticket to Maple Hollow arrive by post, she does not hesitate to make travel arrangements. Once in Maple Hollow not all is as it seems and Hannah soon learns to trust her instincts and dreams. Through the course of the book, she meets a wide array of characters who help her on the journey. Some of this plane and some of the next. She learns to listen to her dreams and about a whole side of the universe, she didn't know existed. And by doing so, she learns a lesson we can all benefit from, and that is to trust in yourself.

I have always been a fan of dreams; especially as someone who has suffered from my share of nightmares and terrors and have a small fascination with their meanings. This book called to me from the first time I read the blurb. A whole book full of magic and dreams; count me in. The underlying message of the book is one we should all take to heart, presented in a beautiful story. A story that is enjoyable to read (or listen to) and transports you away from your own world for a while. If you do have a chance to listen to the audiobook, the narrator, Pearl Hewitt, is the absolute perfect pick for this story. Her voice is almost spell like and she truly brings the words to life.

I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys magic, dreams and their interpretations, Samhain, and a magical mystery that needs solving before time runs out. And no Halloweenish book is complete without cats, and this has some adorable little familiars to help along the way!

“The Dream Haunters” is a mysterious and cozy fantasy novel by Megan Mary, who builds a magical world where navigating the thin veil between dreams and reality helps unlock the secrets of the past.
We meet Hannah, a girl who is a bit down on her luck and seems lost in her life until she receives a cryptic letter from her estranged aunt Jewelia. She finds out that her aunt has gone missing and is filled with a sense of purpose once again to help locate her, while hoping to fill in the blanks about the woman she was never able to know. She travels to the town of Maple Hollow, an island that is home to an eternal autumn, where she will discover who she was always meant to be.
Hannah’s journey is one of growth and self-discovery. On the road to unlocking the mysteries behind her aunt’s disappearance, she starts to discover all the magic of the island and her heritage. Behind it all, she must look deep into her dreams, knowing that they hold the key to the answers she seeks. The veil between Hannah’s dreams and reality gets thinner as the story progresses, and her battle between good and evil will rely on what she can unlock while she slumbers. Not only suspenseful, this novel is equally charming. Maple Hollow is home to the famous Halloween Festival, and Hannah arrives just in time for her favorite holiday. We are immersed in crunchy leaves, mystical pumpkin patches, enchanting feline friends, and a crisp autumn wind on the island. Megan Mary’s writing is engaging and descriptive, bringing every scene to life.
I enjoyed this story on audiobook, and the narrator does a beautiful job of bringing it to life. Every character has a personality, and she brings something special to the suspenseful moments in the story.
I found “The Dream Haunters” to be a perfect book to read during the autumn months. It was exciting and easy to get enveloped in the story. While it’s suggested for the New Adult group, I think that Young Adults would benefit from this coming-of-age story as well. It is a lightly supernatural world, perfect for anyone looking to get an introduction to a fantasy book. The shorter length and chapters make it a quick read, and with the added bonus of whimsical talking cats, this cozy fantasy mystery has something for everyone. So grab your pumpkin spice latte and a warm blanket, and get ready to travel to Maple Hollow!

The Dream Haunters was a lovely autumnal, cosy read. . I listened to this book and loved the narrators voice, she read the book so well, making each character come alive.

Hannah goes on a journey to Maple Hollow after the news that her Aunt Jewelia has gone missing. At Maple Hollow Hannah is on a journey to find her Aunt and free her before the end of Halloween night. She has the help of local villagers and Midnight, a talking cat. There’s a magical pumpkin patch too!

I loved how the story has a deep message about life, I could connect to it so much. I related to the main character Hannah, her life, how she has always felt different in the world. Having a chronic illness and having had a spiritual awakening myself, I found this book so healing and soothing. I enjoyed hearing about the author, Megan Mary, at the end of the book.

I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the second book in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author, Megan Mary, for the eARC copy of this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read!

It was a little bit out of the norm for me personally and I found it sort of fell into that ‘cozy mystery’ vibe a little, but if you enjoy witchcraft, cute talking animals/familiars and a quest to discover a missing family member, you will likely enjoy this one.

I listened to the audio and thought the narrator did a fantastic job at portraying not only the human main character, but the voices of the animals too.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book

Title: The Dream Haunters

Author: Megan Mary

Length: 214 pages

Publisher: Inner Realms Publishing

Publisher Date: 30 September 2024

Genre: Fiction, Fantasy, Astology, Action, Mystery

My rating: 4/5

Summary

The story is about a girl named Hannah who gets a ticket from her aunt with whom she has not been in touch for ages. Her financial struggles convince her to visit Maple Hollow where she has to search for her aunt who has Disappeared and nobody knows where. The journey forms the crux of the story

My take:

The title is quite intriguing which coaxed me into picking this book. I like to thank the publisher for giving me an ARC for reading and reviewing through netgalley. The views expressed in the review are my own and I have not been paid for this. The title is quite different from anyone you would come across and the same is aligned to the story. After reading this book you can’t think of any other apt title.

The story is medium paced, not very fast but not too slow either. Story does seem stagnant at few places. Characterization is good and believable. While listening to the audio version the characters come to life. The descriptions are apt and doesn’t reveal too much leaving some room for the readers to picturize the story as per their imagination.

The book is not a regular story but about various dreams that one has and what it can mean to them. A concept that has rarely been explored.  Any person who dreams a lot would definitely like this book. The author herself is a dream analyst, intuitive, and mystic which is quite interesting. I would definitely visit her website for more insights into the mystical dream world.

A light read for people who like to read about mystical topics.

This book is the epitome of a witchy read, perfect for anyone looking to cozy up with a cup of tea and enjoy a fall escape. The pacing is well-balanced, blending elements of mystery with a deep sense of self-discovery. The key iconography woven throughout adds layers of intrigue and symbolism, making it a satisfying thread in the story.

Hannah, the main character, truly shines as she embarks on her journey of learning to trust her intuition and embrace her identity as a witch. Her growth felt personal to me, reminding me of my own journey in trusting myself and connecting with ancestral wisdom. There are so many moments of magic and self-realization that really stand out.

While the ending didn’t quite live up to the rest of the story’s build-up, it doesn’t detract too much from the overall experience. I’d recommend this book to anyone seeking a magical, reflective read with a side of mystery. It’s a perfect companion for autumn evenings.

Beautiful Read!!!

Finally a book about amazing woman finding their way together with their beautiful familiars!!! This book was just so beautifully written, there was no gratuitous sex or language. The woman were amazing n not angry narcissists in love triangles like every other Witch books seem to be lately. This was a refreshing find and the cats added to the mystery. I can hardly wait to read the next book!!!!
