Power comes with a price.

On an alternate earth, a cataclysm has altered a subset of the population. Talents are persecuted for their psychic and physical mutations, giving rise to two conflicting societies based upon maintaining genetic purity. And the Source, a shadowy corporate entity dependent upon the exploitation of captive Talents, is hunting them…

Chaos rules the city of Glynfyls.

And all Flynn Scot can do is watch. With the hill frozen in the shadow of the coming Incursion, and the commons giving into a bacchanal madness, the city’s chances of survival are dire. His hands tied by mandates, in order to do what he knows is right and give them a fighting chance, Flynn will have to risk everything by doing wrong.

Meanwhile, Kara can’t hide her declining health.

The Triam’s location remains elusive, and the window to get the treatment she needs is closing. Unwilling to give in, or idly await her fate, she hatches a daring plan to help save the city, even if it ends up destroying her politically.

Because Titus’s army is marching closer to Glynfyls, and they’re not alone.

With them comes a monster that threatens not only the city, but the entire Breaker hierarchy. As the world watches on tenterhooks, Flynn and Kara race against the clock to save their people, but there’s no guarantee they can save themselves.

AK Nevermore is a bestselling, award-winning author of dystopian sci-fi, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance. She enjoys operating heavy machinery, freebases coffee, and gives up sarcasm for Lent every year.

A Jane-of-all-trades, she’s a certified chef, restores antiques, and dabbles in beekeeping when she’s not reading voraciously or running down the dream in her beat-up camo Chucks.

Unable to ignore the voices in her head, and unwilling to become medicated, she writes full time around a nest full of ravens. Her books explore dark worlds, perversely irreverent and profound, and always entertaining.

AK belongs to a bunch of industry associations, volunteers for far too many committees, teaches creative writing, and on the rare occasion, sleeps.

I read this days ago and still don't have words that will sufficiently describe how I feel. Ya know, at the end of the last book I complained about being left hanging....and here we are again... Im honestly getting tired of the edging you're giving us, Nevermore. I just want the world for Cara and Flynn. They deserve their HEA!!! 😭😭

I mean, what can I say that I haven't said already? This book and series as a whole has fantastic world building, great storyline, some characters that you love deeply and others that you hate with so much passion, hot AF SMUT and the tension....so much tension....I mean, come on!!!!!

I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

Overlord is one hell of a rollercoaster. SO much happens in this book, which makes sense with it being 640 pages. It's a chunky book.

The Source is on Glynfyls doorstep, Flynn is forced to challenge Alpha, and Kara's health is still deteriorating.

There are so many revelations that are exposed in this story it's honestly hard to wrap your head around. Just when you think you know what's going to happen - another plot twist.

Fitzpatrick -S'fitz- character still really stands out to me, and I am literally dying for him to get his own book. To the point I will get on my knees and beg AK if I have to.

Very well done, and I highly recommend you start this series. I absolutely cannot wait to see how AK finishes off this series.

Woooo!! That was one heck of a ride. There was so much going on. Everything was coming to a head and sh*t hit the fan. And in all that, Flynn and Kara’s HEA was at arms reach and yet so far away.

AK Nevermore was throwing revelations left and right. It was great to see how things evolved to the current state. There was a lot of sneaking around, which made the action much more intense. As a secondary character, Fitz continued to stand out to me.

That cliffy!? GAAAHHHH, I am beside myself with that one.

Overlord is the wildest ride of the Price of Talent series so far! I mean, it’s a roller coaster ride.

I wanted to scream at so many characters, so many times. The only downside to getting so many POVs in one book is that as a reader we know things the MCs don’t.

This one is somewhat *less* spicy that the previous books, but when the spice hits, IT HIIIIITS!

And don’t you dare get me started on the ending! The absolute visceral need I have to know what’s going to happen next is so very real. It’s going to drive me insane.

I have to admit, when I start this series I wasn't too sure I was a fan of Dystopian romances but now being on the fourth book, I AM HOOKED and need the whole series to come out already. Author A.K Nevermore does it again with this amazing book! You never cease to amaze me. The action, drama, destruction and steamy steamy scenes have me on edge the whole time. That cliffhanger left me wanting more and I cannot wait for the next book!

Do yourself a favor, and read this series.

A.K. Nevermore continues to deliver nonstop action, suspense, and excitement in this gripping series! Each page had me eagerly anticipating what would happen next. The stakes keep rising, and with every twist and turn, the story only gets better. I'm absolutely hooked and can't wait to see how it all ends. Oh and the spice is a chefs kiss!

An incredible read that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Man, I'm a hot mess trying to put my feelings into words! This book was like a crazy rollercoaster ride - so much was happening I didn't know which way was up! The drama and spice was turned up and I was literally on the edge of my seat. I did not see Kara's sneainess coming and I'm low-key anxious about the consequences for everyone.

And come on, how can you leave me hanging like that?!

I can’t wait to see what happens next to finish out the series!!

Each book in this series is better than the last! Overlord starts out with a bang (literally) and doesn’t stop. We get plenty of Fitz in this book, which OF COURSE I LOVE because…you know, Fitz.

Wow. I need a moment to marinate on what just happened. Kara...girl...idk what to say about her right now. In this book she was able to get some great things accomplished but also....that ending. Had me like...AGAIN?! Flynn was out here kicking butt and taking names. Of course there was the typical political drama *eye roll*. I almost wish that Flynn would just embrace being a dictator. The way things are up in Glynfyls is enough to make you want to smack someone! There is also so much clarification that we get in this book. We get more information on all parties. I mean from more clarification on the who all the Overlords previous have been to more information about the Original Houses. I was very interested in all the little bits of information we were able to get. This is one of those series that you HAVE to read the blurbs at the beginning of the chapters. It gives you so much information and context on what is about to happen that, if you skip it, you miss things. Another great entry in this series!

The spice in this book was ok. Due to all the craziness that is happening, not to mention Kara's health issues, there isn't a lot of spice in this book. So for the spice, I give this book a 3. When it happened, it was definitely spicy! Flynn and Kara always serve us when it comes to the spice. Overall, I give this book a 4 out of 5. I really enjoyed this entry. Getting to see everyone's perspective in this series has made things so interesting. It has made me root for characters that if this book was just in one or two people's perspective, I wouldn't like as much. Fitz, Marcos and Nora, are all side characters that got spotlight and enabled us to see and experience things from their eyes. Cal, Rogan and Mother also gave us their perspective on things. It is just amazing seeing how all the little pieces are coming together. I can't wait to read the next novella and the last book in this series. I'm not ready to say good bye to these characters nor this world. I can't wait to see where this goes. Even though this book definitely ends on a cliff hanger that had me CONCERNED and a little UPSET. We will see how things go.

It’s the end of the world as Glynfyls knows it and Flynn, Kara, Cal, and Rogan do not feel fine. Titus and his army are closing in and they’re not alone. Titus’ Alpha is an evil psychopath hell bent on destruction. When the battle begins, will Flynn use his power as Overlord to win, no matter the cost? Because the power within is like a caged animal itching to be released. The cost? The cost could very nearly kill Flynn…or Kara and the babies.

I know I say this with each book, but I swear Overlord is the best book in The Price of Talents series. There is so much that takes place in this story. Many of the questions I’ve had throughout the series are answered. There’s action, drama, subterfuge, death, destruction, political intrigue, and steamy sex. That’s not even touching the relationship between Flynn and Kara.

The emotional narration deserves some recognition. AK Nevermore injects this dystopian saga with huge amounts of emotion. You’ll effing live and die reading these characters and what happens to them. Even characters you don’t like will mean something to you.

Note: there is a cliffhanger. AK Nevermore did a fine job with it, in my view. What happens next? You’ll have to wait a bit. It’s currently being written.

If you love dystopian romance sagas with lots of swearing, action, and hotter than hot sex scenes, you need to read Overlord today. Be forewarned, you’ll lose sleep.

My Rating: 5++ stars

In this fourth installment of the Price of Talent series, AK Nevermore proves that good things come to those who wait – and oh my, have we been waiting.

While previous books may have had us hot and bothered with their generous helpings of spice, Overlord takes a decidedly more plot based stance. Don't worry though, when the heat does come (and oh, it does), it's enough to make even the most seasoned reader sweat. Quality over quantity has never been more satisfying.

Nevermore weaves a tapestry of power plays and secret alliances; each revelation answering a burning question while lighting two more fires in its place.

And that ending? I adore this author so much, but I felt so much wtf and now I just want the next book. And while part of me wanted to lash out, I am impressed by how invested she has me. Proving exactly how strong her prowess is in crafting powerful stories. I started with Breeder last year and I am soooooo emotionally attached to Kara.

Overall, Overlord delivers its intoxicating blend of power, politics, and passion with masterful precision. It's a delightfully dangerous cocktail that'll leave you thirsty for more.

This is a series I never want to end! Each book gets better and better. This one has to be my favorite so far though. There is a lot happening in this story. The action starts right from the beginning and doesn't stop until that CLIFFHANGER at the end. Kara's growth from the beginning of the series to now has been truly amazing. Watching her come into her own, make her own decisions, and do what needs to get done, even if it means going behind the backs of people and being sneaky is admirable. Flynn also really took charge and stepped up when he needed to. I loved that a few of the side characters got a little more recognition and brought to the forefront in this one. Kara and Flynn's spice is still intense and spicy, though, they toned it down a lot more in this book. But I think that's just because there's so much happening. I can't wait to see how things play out in the next one and come together. A.K. Nevermore continues to do an amazing job on this series. You definitely have to give this entire series a read. I highly recommend it!!!

Breaker had been my firm fave in the series so far, but Overlord tops it, and then some. The web of conspiracies and intrigue builds and builds with exciting twists and turns all over the damn shop. But compared to the previous book (which felt more heavy on the intrigue), this one was also more action-packed and stuffed with exciting set pieces. The final major scene is a killer. Lots of fantastic new major and minor characters (I especially loved Fitz) keep it a page-turner right until the end. Can't wait to see how she ends it all in the final book. It'll take something special to top this one. Highly recommended.

Overlord is the fourth book in the price of talent series. This book had so much going on, it was hard to put the book down! I think AK Nevermore really stepped up in this book, and I loved every single second of it. Kara continues to be an amazing FMC but damn that ending was not okay!! I appreciated the fact that we got to see more perspectives from other characters this time around. It felt like the series really came into its own with this particular book, and I'm excited to see what is coming next. AK Nevermore, you did an amazing job!

I had no idea that when I started this series that I would love it as much as I do. I just want to throw it out there. Each book in this series is better than the last (not sure how that can be, but it is!) and this one is no different. Nevermore brings the spice, suspense, and the development of characters that seriously lead us to some serious distress at the ending. Overall, this book (pretty sure I said this last time) is my favorite so far and I can't wait to continue reading!

In this captivating series, A.K. Nevermore keeps up the action, tension, and thrill! I was excitedly awaiting what would happen on every page. The tale simply gets better with each turn, and the stakes are always growing. I am completely engrossed and eager to see how it all turns out. The spice was very well written as well.

Another exciting installment

Wow, I continue to be impressed by Kara’s relationship and how well they are able to support each other in such difficult circumstances. Along with how all the other characters are finding themselves and becoming more sure in what they can do. What will come next for these talents?
