The Man Date

Rate this book
No matter how old you are, you want your best friends to be friends...

Mac Kelley arrives in Pine Lake to work his dream job at The Love Broker. He quickly befriends his shy landlord, Beck King, a retired model with two beloved dogs and a camera around his neck.

Deacon Wiley has been on the road with his beloved guitar, touring with country western bands for almost twenty years. He’s gotten used to having a job and an eight-by-eight cubical on the bus. But now his life has imploded, and he’s forced to high tail it to the tundra of Pine Lake to bunk with his best friend, Mac.

Three bachelors, living their best life!

Except Deacon thinks Beck is a fancy poser, and Beck believes Deacon should shower more.

However, with Mac busy working with a hostile boss and his ego, Deacon and Beck spend time together.

And then things get...interesting.

It’s a sexy secret but it’s just temporary.

It’s a connection between two people who’ve lived their lives moving and pretending to be something they’re not.

It might be bigger than either one of them imagined.

(And Mac is in for one hell of a surprise...)

Pine Lake has one rule - Fall in Love.

Tere Michaels unofficially began her writing career at the age of four when she learned that people got paid to write stories. It seemed the most perfect and logical job in the world and after that, her path was never in question. (The romance writer part was written in the stars—she was born on Valentine’s Day.)

It took thirty-six years of “research” and “life experience” and well… life… before her first book was published but there are no regrets (she doesn’t believe in them). Along the way, she had some interesting jobs in television, animation, arts education, PR, and a national magazine—but she never stopped believing she would eventually earn her living writing stories about love.

Her home base is a small town in New Jersey, very near NYC, a city she dearly loves. She shares her life with her husband, her son—who is also her personal trainer—and an exceedingly spoiled cat. Her spare time is spent watching way too much sports programming, going to the movies and for long walks/runs in the park, reading, and doing yoga.

Nothing makes her happier than knowing she made a reader laugh or smile or cry. It’s the purpose of sharing her work with people. She loves hearing from fans and fellow writers and is always available for speaking engagements, visits, and workshops. Send her a message through her contact page or connect with her on Instagram (@TereMichaels) and Facebook.

She teaches regularly at SavvyAuthors, as well as running a private consulting and developmental editing business.

Loving this series... can't wait for the next one

The ebook had weird issues when I first got it but then it updated and the formatting/editing issues were all fixed. I'm so glad! I LOVED this book. I'm having fun with this world, the Cupid matchmaking is nothing what I first thought, especially now that I know more about the mystery of the town... Funny book, great characters who make me giggle and also say "aww." I like when opposites attract because it makes for great banter. :)

Mac who while not the central character is in the middle of the whole thing and trying to gloss over his past. Beck is Mac’s landlord and friend who has secrets (or does he?) and is happy for Mac to host his friend. Deacon arrives with a suitcase full of secrets of his own. There is a pull between Beck and Deacon that starts a whole new round of secrets. But secrets have a way of getting found out and you have to deal or walk away. And underlaying all of this is the secrets of Pine Lake itself. This second book in the Love Broker Universe is even more magical then the first. #CMCon26

I honest to goodness thought this was going to be Mac's story, because why read the blurb. Instead, this is Beck and Deacon's story, with Mac providing support, and what a ride it is. There are secrets, Mac is not happy. There are sexy times. And a baby on the back step. The backstory for both Beck and Deacon is tragic, painful, but makes them who they are and falling in love becomes magical. I loved the camping scene - it's a hoot. And watching Mac and Deacon find their footing back into friendship was also a hoot. I'm looking forward to the next book.
