When a monster groupie with psychopathic tendencies heads to her favorite horror convention with plans to kidnap her Frank-n-heartthrob, she's not expecting him to like it. Will the lovable but unhinged scream queen throw her willing victim back, or protect him from dangerous loan sharks out to de-animate her celebrity crush?
Roxy Malone has her eyes on the horror industry's beloved monster actor, Acid Green. After a one-night stand gone wrong, he mistakes her kidnapping attempt as a clever escape from the loan sharks fast on his heels and a cute attempt to be a bad girl. Drawn to the thrill of the chase, and Acid himself, the punk princess will put her science-loving skills to work when her family legacy of monster creations becomes his one way out.
This was a 3.5-3.7 of action packed gory insanity. Roxy and Acid are hilariously, monstrously, murderously great together (well mostly Roxy). This is my first book by this author and it was a good read but he warned it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s a gory love story wrapped up in a romantic murder fest 🤣🤣🤣
Roxy is the daughter of a mad scientist who she helped create Frankie's with. They raise the dead through reanimation. Her father was eventually locked up for murder leaving Roxy to pick up the pieces of their shattered home.
She's a genius but a bit on the crazy side and enjoys nothing more than horror and monsters galore.
Acid is a celebrity Frankie that was created by Roxys' father but Roxy has an obsession with him and is set on making him hers.
She puts together a plan to kidnap him but finds herself in a tornado of chaos as she ends up saving Acid from his gambling mistakes a few times from some loan sharks he's been dodging.
Eventually these two end up uncovering some pretty interesting secrets about her father and who Roxy realy is.
Would recommend this book to anyone who loves Frankenstein lore and is looking for something that's dripping with twisted infatuation.
The only reason I didn't rate this book 5☆ is because of how some of the dialog read. The formatting made it a bit hard to follow at times and I had to go back some at times to make sure I knew who was talking. I also felt that the book over all needed another proofread and feel it would of made the book a bit more manicured..
All in all .. an entertaining story thats filled with sweet revenge and an underlying message about the importance of equality.
This book was insane. I expected a fluffy monster romance, and I got serial killing psychopaths. I didn't love or hate it. The story moved along well enough, but the writing felt a little stunted to me, to be honest. It was a fun read to end October with, all the same. If you like crazy MCs, insta-love, and monsters smut, you'll get your fix with this book.
I LOVE this so much!! A gory, spicy 🌶️ Frankenstein - monster romance story!
The daughter of the “mad scientist”, is into the same stuff as her dad. She was always told she’d turn out just like her dad (who’s in prison btw!) She is obsessed with the green guy (IYKYK 🙃) & she has her heart set on having him (even if involves in a bad k!dnapping attempt). So much takes place, especially trying to take down Donnie with the help of her “Army”. I will say that her dance she does is GREAT. I can visualize it! Please read this!
This story is incredibly creative in every aspect, from it's quirky title to the intriguing characters. Loretta Kendall did Mary Shelley proud with this modern punk-rock horror version of "The Bride of Frankenstein". It's a entertaining page turner, full of macabre humor and mayhem reminiscent of "Rat Race". This book just made a space for itself on my personal favorites bookshelf. I highly recommend this read to anyone who loves horror/slasher tales and dark rom-coms, as well as fans of monster romance, zombie satires and supernatural fiction.
The characters are crazy and lots of fun. This is a true monster romance, very Frankenstein vibes. It's a good read and interesting, though!
Acid and Roxy are perfect for each other.
There are some typos (ie things like calling an uber then getting into a taxi when it arrives and “He’s rioting in a prison because of you!” instead of rotting) but nothing major.
Fun read, crazy characters, very creative. Worth a read!
I 100% loved this book! It was a perfect horror romance with a Frankenstein esque twist and a side of murder!
I think that Loretta Kendall did a really good job with this story. I had a hard time putting this one down! I wanted to keep reading it to find out how it would end!
I will definitely be recommending this book to others and reading more of Loretta Kendall's books!
This wasn’t exactly what I was thinking it would be but it was very cute. Definitely more of a rom com vibe, I wish it leaned more into the horror angle but the horror aspects were good. There was a lot going on and things seemed tied up then moved on to something else really quickly but otherwise this was enjoyable.
I loved this! Such a fun read for me. I have been wanting some monster romance that didn't just focus on the spice! And I found it! I great play on a frankenstein story.
Oh and don't worrie there is spice is there for you 🌶 lovers.
Absolutely loved the concept of this book! It’s super fun and fresh and carries a depth to it that doesn’t feel heavy but feels so meaningful!
I love both of the main characters and they are so sassy and perfect for each other throughout the whole book! The vintage monster (Frankenstein’s Monster) element is so well done mixed with a modern day take!
This was super cool! It could stand a good proofread, but the mistakes don’t take away from the story at all. Five stars!
