Genuinely, I am a little flabbergasted at this book and how much I loved it while I enjoyed the rest of this series, I ADORED this final installment. Lisa outdid herself with the intrigue in this novel and writing a truly disgusting villain. I would definitely recommend some content warnings because while nothing *actually* happens it can become quite uncomfortable. However, it is all so worth it to see the characters overcome and be stronger for the pain they’ve endured.

CW: Violence, disability, attempt of SA, attempt of rape, attempted coercive abortion, child predatory behavior, attempt of child marriage (all done by one incredibly sick dude.)

I don't know if I wrote reviews for the previous books. I know I didn't for the series previous of this one it was a good book but felt shorter though.

Fathoms thoughts:

TASTE THE URINE WHAAAT (pg 183)

I hate ercole so much

Omg a net ? They're never gonna return in time now. Great love that.

' "I need not your heart. Only your body. Your title. And to know that what once was denied to me,.." ' (pg 292) ah hell I hate him so much.

I really hope tiliani gets to reunite with valentino instead of marrying this bastard

How the hell did they "airlift" their weapons ??

Oh dang this is the last book in this series. I need to reread the first series sometime. I did really like that first series but going through a series again is difficult. A 4th book with just nice moments bc there is always a war in these books would be nice or like a little novella of just happy times but these characters have come to an end.

“Fathoms” by Lisa Bergren is the third book in the “Oceans of Time” series, which is a spin-off from the beloved “River of Time" series. I eagerly read the original “River of Time” books when they first released in 2011 and was so excited to finally have some Christian young adult fiction that was just as good as any secular fiction of the time. Since then, I have read every book in both series. I am sad that this beloved series is ending, but I was so glad that the final book lived up to my expectations for a series finale (it went beyond my expectations)! As I read “Fathoms,” it felt like coming home to read about this world and these characters. It was neat to see familiar characters, especially from the “River of Time” series as well. The book is gritty, heartfelt, and realistic with wonderful faith content!

In the beginning of “Fathoms,” Luciana is struggling with losing her sight and realizing her value is found in who she is, not in what she does. She is debating whether she should risk going through the tombs again to be healed but is not sure of where or when in time the tombs will take her on the return trip. I loved watching Luciana learn to adapt to living a life without her sight and how she learns ways to still fight and be a girlboss (or “She-wolf”). The characters of the book face immense joy and great hardships. I loved the beautiful faith content, which had me in tears and encouraged me in my own faith. There are lessons on family, love, and choosing to risk loving on a deeper level. The characters learn that God puts us in certain moments, places, and times for a purpose. They must learn to welcome peace, regardless of the circumstances. I do not want to say too much about the plot since it is the third book in a series, and I do not want to spoil anything. I will say there’s non-stop, pulse-pounding action and it was hard to put down. The romances were beautiful, as were the family relationships. I am so sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I am glad I can always re-read all the books. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book and series! I cannot wait to see what Ms. Bergren writes next!

Content: I give this book a PG-13 rating. Some examples of the content: mention of bawdy jokes; mention of bedding someone once they’re married; mention of alcohol; mention that people might be accused of witchcraft; someone wonders if they are hallucinating; a child is pledged in marriage to an old man; vague reference to past r*pe in a previous book; a bad man makes lewd jokes and sexual innuendos; someone thinks they’re possibly going mad; forced medical examination and procedures without consent; a man wants a woman to become his consort and it’s implied he has mistresses; a character possibly has PTSD; a man tries to force a woman to have an ab*rtion; blood, gore and violence; reference to a couple’s wedding night and waking up in each other’s arms.

TW: brief mention of hallucinations and possibly going mad; past r*pe; forced medical examination and procedures without consent and unwanted advances and kisses (with the intent to take advantage of her, but he is not able to); possible PTSD; mention of ab*rtion.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Edited to add: The “Oceans of Time” books are adult.

Fathoms is another rip-roaring adventure with action, romance, high tension, more medieval torture, and kick-butt female characters. Seriously, this book had me on edge from page one and the stakes did not let up until that final chapter. I was so, so, so very worried about who would live, who would survive, and where the characters would be at the end of this story. I know in the end Lisa would give us some kind of happiness and contentment, but I also know she’s willing to kill off characters to get to that happiness.

So much happens in this story that is eye-opening about what happened during the Middle Ages. I appreciate Lisa’s attention to detail even if it was absolutely horrible. I also love that this book has such a good balance between the action-y moments and the romantic moments. Even when characters get together and are finally happy, she throws something into the plot to wrench them from each other. My heart!

My only hang ups are that I wanted more Valentino in the story (petition for Lisa to write a short story/novella about what he was doing during the events of this novel) and that I have to say goodbye to these characters again. The ending left my heart full, but I wanted an epilogue to show the characters a few months or years down the road. I can only hope that it was left a little more open because Lisa might write about these characters again in the future. (Please, Lisa! Please! I beg of you!)

But overall, this book is so amazing with such a satisfying ending (even if Lisa didn’t make it easy for the characters) to the series. It reminded me of why I love the River of Time books and why I love Lisa’s writing. She-Wolves Forever!

~Thank you to the author for sending me an early copy in exchange for a review!~

Sobbing. 😭 this was everything I wanted. Well, except for the fact that I want MORE. Like, I needed MORE Giulio and Luciana together before ending please. Like yes, everything was wrapped up beautifully but I’m far too invested in these characters that I need to know what they’re doing and how well they’re doing and seeing more of them. I just love them too much! And what about Domenico and Ilaria? How are they doing? How’s Domenico’s business coming along?

One of the things I’ve appreciated about this series so much is Nico & Luciana’s twin dynamic. They love each other so much, it made me want that sibling dynamic for my children, or even wish that I could’ve had a twin like that. What a special family.

Also, this particular book challenged me.

********⚠️‼️⚠️‼️ SPOILERS AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!⚠️ ‼️ ⚠️ ‼️ *******

But, one thing I love about Lisa’s books is that she loves giving her characters happy endings. Did we lose Rodolfo Greco and Ben before in the previous series? Yes. It was absolutely heart wrenching. I didn’t love it. But it was real. She doesn’t shy away from that, either.
But I loved that in this book, she didn’t decide Luciana would stay blind. Yes, Luciana would’ve been able to have made peace eventually with it and had a good life. There could’ve been plenty of good lessons in that itself. However, sometimes, I think we need a reminder that sometimes God does things to simply delight us. To remind us of His sovereignty and just how powerful and big He is and that He uses all of that to LOVE us. To lavish love. That as a Father, He delights in giving us good gifts.

Reading through this, I felt encouraged once again in this. A reminder that God does not have to work within our boundaries of what we believe will happen, and He enjoys surprising us.

It was just too amazing, as is the entirety of the Rivers of Time and Oceans of Time series.

It will go down as forever one of my fave series. I don’t want it to end. I need more 😅

Thank you Lisa, for writing a book that challenges me in my walk of faith, in a way that is real, authentic, exciting, passionate—everything magical and messy and in between. I love these so much.

I started reading the Oceans of Time series from the beginning in preparation for the Celebrate Lit book tour. 3 books in 2 weeks is a lot, but it was worth it. I think I enjoyed this more than the original Rivers of Time series. Probably because that was YA fiction. I read it in my late 20s, so the teenage characters didn’t appeal to me.

Although marketed as romances, there’s a lot more of the Historical Fiction flavor. I prefer this. The historical setting is authentic, and although the plot is complicated, it feels true to the period. Mostly anyway.

Medieval Italy was different from some other countries at the time. It consisted mostly of small city states. Their rulers continually fought wars over territory and resources with no central government. Almost like gang wars today but on a larger scale. There is some dark and brutal content here. However, it is not graphic or offensive.

Recommended for all lovers of Historical Fiction with an Inspy flavour.

This is the third book in this triology and I wasn't sure where Bergren was going to take us. My goodness this has been an action packed and full trilogy-you simply can't put these books down! Fathoms picks up right where the last book left off. You have to read these books in order otherwise you will probably be pretty confused. Luciana and Tilani both have drastic things happen that I was totally not expecting in this story. The romance is well written and there is a lot crammed into this one book. Lord Ercole is truly a terrible bad guy and it was shown all the more within this story. I was disgusted by some of his intentions but it did add to the story.

Overall this is non stop action and the author does an excellent job wrapping up all of the threads from the first two books. If you like time travel, clean romance, lots of action, and a fun family dynamic you will enjoy this book!

I very much enjoyed this novel and I look forward to what the author writes next!

This needs more than five stars!

Wow! I’m so glad I’m not a character in this book. So many events and things happen, I don’t think I could survive. This story truly makes me appreciate my modern-day conveniences. I also don’t think I would have the strength to battle all the bad guys!
Lisa T. Bergren is a wonderful storyteller; her books are full of colorful events and medieval pageantry. A part of me wanted to surround myself with all things Italian. Of course, some of that might be because I’m half Italian, so there’s that underlying desire to connect with my heritage. However, this author truly knows how to paint pictures, so we have no problem seeing what’s happening in our minds! Her books are colorful, exciting, and easy to read. The dialogue flowed smoothly, and I was caught up in the story and didn’t want it to end. It took me to Italy, where I’ve longed to go, with so many wonderful images and splendid verbiage. I loved everything about this book!
This book has drama, suspense, action, medieval elegance, hardship, and sweet romance that will knock your socks off. Oh, the Romance! It’s fun to see how the characters get out of the situations they are in. At first, you think it’s impossible, but they stand strong, and truth and God’s plan come about.
This book will keep you reading until you discover you're on the last page. It will then leave you with the question of whether or not time travel is possible. Would you do it if it were possible?
I’m not sure if this is the last in this series. If it is, then I’ll be sad, but I can rest assured the characters are all taken care of. If it isn’t the last, then I’m ready and waiting for more!
I highly recommend you pick this book up and let it take you on an adventure you will never believe!

Do you know what sadness is? When you finish a series like this and there's no more stories left!

Luciana is blind (spill over from book two) and she doesn't know what she'll do with herself now. Because of hey blindness, she tries to distance herself from Guilio. As with any time period, the loss of a sense of any kind, it's hard to know that she has any value. Luciana struggles through it all to understand faith and what that looks like with her loss.

Tiliani can now love Valentino, after the death of Aurelio but it's bittersweet. I just love Tiliani. She's such a strong, caring character. She's a woman not to be messed with. That's what makes Val such a good pairing for her.

Then... THEN there's Ercole. If ever there was a despicable character, he's at the top is the list! His demand forces Luciana and Tilani to go to his castello to protect Lady Romano. There they truly learn about the strength they each have. What the women have to go through to keep themselves safe, because he's not picky, would make any woman repulsed. It's a good reminder of how some people are definitely sheep in wolves clothes. Just... ish!

I'm already ready to slip back through time and visit these characters. I'm sad the series is complete! Highly recommend!

Another incredible journey through Medieval Italy comes to an end with Fathoms. Lisa always does a fantastic job with fully immersing readers into the worlds of her characters, and she did so yet again in this conclusion. I either laughed, cried, and nearly pulled my hair out with every image I read. The lessons of faith woven throughout the entire story are wonderful reminders that, no matter what trials we face, God is on our side. We may not know why things happen, but He is faithful.
I HIGHLY recommend both the RoT and OoT series'. 🤍

What a page-turner with these Medieval Italian families and their struggles to hold onto what is theirs. With the help of a little time travel, the characters forge the grim lines of history to save their families and dreams.
Evil exists in every era and in many forms. Images arise of historical evil menaces of society wanting to conquer and enslave their own people as a tyrannical dictator would. As the characters struggle to remain free, the evil man’s cursing fingers grab a hold. Will love and dedication be enough to cut the strings of oppression?
Bravo, Lisa!

Fathoms, by Lisa T. Bergren is the final book in the Oceans of Time series and it is a befitting end to this saga. I have not read the first book in the series, but I read the second one and that is the reason I had to read this one when I saw that it was coming out. The second one was so good and as mentioned earlier, this book took the series out on a high. This book has lighthearted moments, but there are many serious situations that are seen. Some of the weightier scenes talk about abortion, rape or possible rape, pledging a very young girl to a much older man to be his wife, mistresses and bedding multiple women. There were no explicit scenes and certainly not vulgar language of any kind. This is a Christian book, and God is talked about many times, prayer to Him is also spoken by the characters multiple times throughout the book.
There are a few main characters, but Luciana is probably the one that stands out the most as the female protagonist in this book. She is what is referred to as a she-wolf. No, she is not a literal wolf as in werewolf, but it is more of a reference to a strong personality and physical ability. While she is referred to in that way, the author still manages to keep Luciana’s character more on the gentle side. Luciana has been blinded having fought in a recent battle with a big ogre of a man, who bashed her head into a rock over and over, no doubt with the intent to kill her, but she survives and when she wakes, she cannot see. She is pledged to be married to Giulio Greco who is one of the main male characters. She feels sorry for herself and decides that it will be better off if Giulio does not marry her, since she now feels she will just be a burden that he does not need or deserve. When she has the honest talk with Giulio, he tells her that he will always love her, but not because of what she can do or how she looks per se, but because of who she is. This reminded me that this is how we should love God, not because of what He does or can do for us, but because of who He is.
The other main character is Valentino, who is to marry Tiliani. Celeste is the very young girl who is pledged to be married to Ercole, who is the main antagonist in this book. In a deal to achieve peace with Ercole he takes Celeste in pledge to someday marry her, so he has her come to live with him. Tiliani volunteers to go with her and will be apart from Valentino to ensure Celeste is taken care of. Luciana also volunteers to go as Celeste’s tutor, though she is blind. There is a plan brewing to achieve peace, but not as it seems. In a turn of events as demented as Ercole is, he will go after any woman and so eventually strikes a deal to have Tiliani as his wife, though she is pledged to be married to Valentino and she tells him as much several times, that her heart belongs to him.
There are some major twists and turns further in the book that if I keep writing I will give away the plot, but you will have to get immersed in this story for yourself to find out what really happens and what the outcome will be. I recommend getting this book and settling down on a nice comfy chair or couch with a lamp nearby because you will probably start reading during daylight and won’t be able to stop until it is done.

I received a complimentary copy from the author through Celebrate Lit, for my honest opinion.

TOMORROW! Fall into the past one last time in Fathoms, the conclusion to the Ocean of Time series from @lisatbergren . I have been a huge fan of these romantasy books since Waterfall was published 14 years (!?) ago and the River/Oceans of time books are some of my most recommended books. Fathoms picks up where Rip Tide left off, with Luciana Betarrini blinded from battle and Tiliani Forellin closer to Valentino than ever. These Betarinnis find themselves once again sequestered in Castello Paratore and separated from their families as tensions between the Sienese and Fiorentini grow with every passing day. Everything we love about Bergren is in Fathoms-increasingly high stakes, sweeping romance, deep family ties, faith, and the will they/won’t they decision that Luciana and her brother have to make about whether to go home to the present, or stay for love. The She-Wolves of Siena are back and stronger than ever! Once I got into this book I had a hard time putting it down-I love reading about this second generation of Forellis and seeing Gabi and Lia’s stories play out. I will sing Bergren’s praises from the rooftops forever-I love these books SO much and am so glad she keeps writing them! Grab this book tomorrow!

(Note that Bergren doesn’t shy away from the realities of medieval Italy which includes questionable medical practices and a child being promised to a man when she comes of age as a peacemaking overture. The darker subject matter is on par with Deluge.)

Ercole has firmly ensconced himself in castle Paratore and has managed to gain favor with many to align themselves against the Forelli's. His demands to make peace come at a high price. Thwarted from marrying Tiliani he demands the hand of a child-Lady Celeste is just 9 years old! He agrees to allow Luciana and Tiliani to chaperone the child until she comes of age. Everyone knows he cannot be trusted, their only hope is to be able to convince others to stand with them to defeat him.

Such an exciting and stressful read! Time travel, castles, battles, intrigue and romance. Along with a villain that one cannot wait gets his comeuppance! I love seeing the strong women characters. They definitely deserve the title She-Wolves! Ercole is the perfect villain. I hate to say I wanted him to die a gruesome death, but I really did! He was evil! Confession: it took me almost a month to read this! Not because it was boring, not because I didn't enjoy every bit of it, but because I would get so stressed I'd have to put it down! And then when I read the last page...I missed all of the characters and wanted more! I loved the River of Time series, and I loved the Ocean of Time series just as much. I fell in love with the time travel and I fell in love with all of the characters. Seriously, read this series!

Romance. Heroism. Action. Adventure. Faith. This final installment of the Oceans of Time series delivers all that we expect and more from Lisa T Bergren’s medieval Italy time traveling adventures! I adored Fathoms with its fascinating perspective into the medieval history of Tuscany, insightful faith lessons of Gods love and plans for His children, and the classic good versus evil struggle where good wins out! My favorite part, of course, was seeing the culmination of the love stories and the happily ever afters for our favorite couples! Packed with well-written action that keeps you riveted until the last page, this book and this series simply cannot be missed. Although you do not have to read the original River of Time series to enjoy these new adventures (although there will be spoilers to the River series in the Oceans series) you DO have to read the Oceans of Time series in the order of release. So grab your copies and get ready to escape through the pages of these adventures to medieval Italy!

If you haven’t read a book from this author you are missing out. The characters are dynamic, flawed at times and have a depth of faith. I love how she allows readers to place themselves in the story and feel as if they are a part of it.

Luciana is overcome with the thought of never being able to see again. She wonders why God has not healed her yet. As she is being examined she is told, “You need all the light you can gather.” We certainly need to surround ourselves with light and not allow darkness to come into our lives. So many times we fight battles forgetting that the light is our hope and rescue.

There is a lot going on in the book and the action is non stop. I liked how the author creates a world where suspense runs rampant. I liked the nice romance where we see unconditional love and a fierce protection of each other. Some of the characters are not easy to like but that makes the story more intriguing.

I received a copy of this book Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I'm thrilled to read the third book in this series. I enjoyed the first two, and this one is also great. I missed the feel and world of this series, so it was wonderful to revisit it again. The found family theme is near and dear to my heart. I was fascinated by what the author did with our dear characters in this tale! Luciana is going through major struggles and in the process trying to learn more of who she is versus what she can actually do now. Having been blinded in war is not a small thing at all. I thought she was very brave and amazing. The romance aspects of this book are just perfect. It's really multi-layered, and I'd recommend reading them in order. If you want drama, romance, suspense, a lovely medieval-type setting, faith, and grit, this book (and the series) has it all. All the feels are included here. I don't want to spoil anything so I have to recommend getting these and reading them!

Thanks to Celebrate Lit for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own, and a positive review is never required.

Adult Historical Fantasy is a new genre for me. Fathoms by Lisa T. Bergren is Book 3 in the Oceans in Time series. I have not read the first 2 books in this series, but I also felt this book was a good standalone book. I have never read any books by Lisa T. Bergren and she has written MANY books!

I have to say this storyline took me about 3 chapters to figure out. The main character is Luciana Betarrini. Luciana was blinded in an accident and is trying to figure out life moving forward. The struggles that she is going through also show how strong she is. I really LOVE how she is reminded that in order to overcome the blindness, she needs to concentrate on the good things and not the bad things. Luciana and other characters in this book create an action packed storyline. I think my favorite part of the book was the romance in this book. The book is a quick read as the reader really wants to keep reading to get through all the suspense and action. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Adult Historical Fantasy. GOOD BOOK!

Fathoms is the third novel in a series and a wonderful one that will suck you into a land of fantasy and adventure like none other. This is historical fiction but also a bit of fantasy because she-wolves. I love a good historical fiction novel, and this takes you to the medieval time period. You’re going to love it.

It reads quickly. The characters suck you in. You’re invested in their lives and what is going to happen to them. Trust me when I say you have to keep reading to see what happens.

Now, because this is part of a series, please do yourself a favour and read the books in order. Do not just start with this one. You’ll be lost, and nobody wants that. Read them as a series and get the most of the adventures.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. Lisa did it again! Fathoms is a gripping read from the first page to the last. I would have read it all in one sitting if life wasn't going on around me.

I wish I would have reread Estuary and Riptide prior to getting Fathoms because so many things were fuzzy in my mind and it took me a a few chapters to sort everything out.

The book continued to switch between Lunciana and Tiliani's POV and we got to see more of their relationship built between the two of them and their guys.

I will say the ending felt a tad rushed. I would have like to savor the time just after the final battle to the last page a little more. I would have liked to see more of Nico's relationship with Ilaria.

I did love the end when Luci went and sought advice from Lia since they both had similar feeling about staying in the past.

I know Lisa has said that this is the end of the series but I hope she finds it in herself to write a novella just as she did with River of Time.

10/10 will ALWAYS recommend.

This is the first book that I’ve read from the series called Oceans of Time, and it’s book three in the bunch. I have much catching up to do. From my understanding the term, ‘she-wolves’ means a female leader. The book starts with Luciana blinded from a battle and she takes the encouraging advice of friends and family. The book switches from two perspectives; one is Luciana and the other is Tiliani. Both women have love interests and I found the romance too sensual, which is not my cup of coffee. Thus the book picked up for me after the 15th chapter. That’s where the intrigue and action picks up, which I liked. Tiliani and new found ally, Maria, the servant girl are brilliant in foiling Lord Ercole’s crazy and repulsive plans. They all don’t give up even when it seems bleak and hopeless. I received this e-book for free from Celebrate Lit Tour and the opinions I express are honest and my own.

I will never tire of reading the adventures of the Beterrini/Forelli/Greco clan! I started Fathoms last night and simply could not put it down! Such high stakes at every turn, I found myself more concerned for the characters throughout Fathoms than any other in their saga!
I do hope this is not truly the last time we shall get to delve into these beloved character's lives! I feel there are so many more stories to be heard! Could Nico and Ilaria get their own novella? More of Fortino and Benedetto? Or a story that covers the creation of the brotherhood when Marcello, Luca and Rodolfo were younger and before the events in Waterfall? Anything with these characters will always be an automatic read for me since I feel like I have known them for many years. Thank you for allowing us this glimpse into their lives!

I have previously had the pleasure of reading the first two books from Lisa Tawn Bergren's Oceans of Time series, Estuary and Rip TIde. I was excited to have the opportunity to continue the series with the third installment, Fathoms. Since this is a continuing series, it would be best to read the books in order. I was instantly thrown into Luciana and Tiliani's story and catching up with them. Once again, they are faced with adventure, action, and danger. I loved it.

I am going to give Fathoms five stars. I believe readers and fans of clean historical fantasies will love it as much as me. As always, I would be excited to more books like this from Lisa Tawn Bergren in the future.

I received a digital copy of Lisa Tawn Bergren's Fathoms from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Very satisfying (although terrifying at times) conclusion to the Oceans of Time series. It had been awhile since I read books 1 and 2, but what I needed to remember came back to me as I read this one. If you have NOT read books 1 and 2 yet, you really need to do so before reading this one.

Since much about medieval Italy isn't known, Bergren has created a fantasy-historical setting that is fascinating. Since people haven't changed that much in their desires, mistakes, greed, etc, it's all too easy to identify with the characters who are faced with life and death choices over and over. When you're ready to get lost in the past, this book is a good escape...and when you're ready for a break from the fighting and the bad guys, you can always go back to washing the dishes or cleaning the bathroom :-)

"Sometimes the wise way costs you something."

What an exciting conclusion to the Oceans of Time series. I loved returning to 1372 Italy and this book picked up right where the previous book left off as Siena and Firenze locked horns in an ongoing war. It was interesting to see that the republics of Siena and Firenze came to blows because of one man's greed, deceit, and betrayal. First person voices of Tiliani and Luciana were easy to love and cheer on. Tiliani's bravery, strength, tenacity, and loyalty made her a true leader. Luciana's resilience, cleverness, and resourcefulness made her a She-Wolf for sure. I really loved Valentino and Giulio for their selfless devotion, solid faith, unshakable integrity and loyalty. We didn't see as much of Domenico and Ilaria as I would have liked but they played great supporting roles in this book. There were plenty of realistic battle scenes and I felt like I was one of the Fiorellis anxiously anticipating the next move.
Some of the subplots felt a bit contrived and Ercole was difficult to understand as a character but all the subplots melded together nicely in the end without loose ends.

If you enjoy speculative novel set in the medieval times, you would enjoy this. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Enclave Publishing via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

3 stars. It would have been 5, but the stupidity surrounding Catholicism and the "big bad, money hungry Church," with it's "big bad, money hungry clergy," was enough to make me lose brain cells.

Story-wise, very entertaining and a good finale to the series as well as the River of Time books as a whole, despite the flaws regarding religion. Lisa's portrayal of the Church was very disappointing, but I will always have a soft spot for these characters she's written.

That being said, this will sadly have to be my last foray into any Christian historical fiction set in a time pre Martin Luther. Even with all the passive aggression towards the Church in these books, it is sadly one of the less offensive cases I've read.

Lisa this was just uncalled for. THE ANXIETY. THE STRESS.

I am so invested in these characters I swear I had heart palpitations.

Such high stakes it had me on the edge of my seat

After finishing it, I'm now even more invested? Because so many baddies kept their heads after watching bad men do bad things, Sienna and Firenze? Will ee have peace, will we have more violence? I am invested in a high stakes, high political machinations, next book. Also I love every romance Lisa writes.

Will we get a 'Celeste visits the she wolves every year to learn in their ways and grows up to be a sharp, witty and politically savvy young she wolf, determined to end the strife between peoples?' I can dream.

For Sienna!

DNF. I’ve tried both the River of Time and Oceans of Time series by Bergren. I enjoy the first two but the third of both series gets way too sensual for my taste. It is apparently a pattern for Bergren.

In this book, the very first chapter mentions Guilio wanting to bed Luciana. Then Tiliani and Valentino are forced to wed and consummating their relationship is mentioned. Tiliani says she wants Val, and then they get married and she gushes about being able to kiss without stopping and coming together as one. I’m disappointed as this isn’t even 10 chapters into the book. I don’t believe I will read anymore Bergren books.

OMG!!! I ate this book up so fast and highly enjoyed it. Andrea Ercole is the bad guy you love to hate so much that you end up cheering one of your favorite ladies to just land a good solid punch to his face! Ercole is such a creep who thinks his farts don't stink/full of himself. If this is the last book in the series it has such a happy ending but if it's not it leaves off for a fourth book.
