"Everything is fine. We are okay. We've gotten the hang of this." But for Naveed, Shanice, Luz, Tim, Jquan, and Minh, everything was not fine.
When men in black surround them during a routine scavenging stop, the group find themselves separated from those they care about most. In a race against the impending snow and the mysterious static crackling at their heels, they each embark on a quest to reunite before it's too late. With the obvious dangers of this new world both ahead of and behind them, the last thing they expect is to unravel the danger within, hiding in the shadows of their souls, trying to strangle them.
The group will soon learn that their first winter in the world reforged is not just a battle against the elements, but one against themselves.
I felt a need to finish the book and get to the end. The book kept me captivated and wanting more. This is an excellent book and can't wait to read the next book
I was eager to dive back into the world of Davila's characters, who by now had become more than just names on a page, they felt like family, the kind you can't help but root for. The plot, however, veered in a direction I hadn't seen coming, taking on a deliciously unexpected edge. It gave me serious The Walking Dead vibes: a gnawing uncertainty about what dangers lurked in the shadows, alongside the very real threats staring them down in the moment. I knew from the start this book was going to tear at my heartstrings, and, oh, how right I was. As much as I'm already counting down the days until the final installment, I have no illusions about the emotional carnage that awaits. One thing’s for sure: by the time I turn the last page, there will be no dry eyes left.
