Absolutely loved it,cannot wait to read the next book, this was such a great lite prequel to get you hooked! Def feel like these books are gonna be another 5 🌟 read for me. Def add to your tbr it is a great start!
Vale is one of my favourite characters in this series, and while I ended up reading this after the novellas that sit between books three and four, I still really appreciated the chance to go back and learn a little more about him.
Told from Vale’s point of view, this prequel gives a glimpse into his role as a Fae warrior and protector, and the weight of responsibility he carries within the Winter Court. His sense of duty and loyalty really come through here, and it adds a bit more context to the character we come to know later in the series.
I also liked the way this sets up some of the wider tensions within the world, particularly through his mission to find the lost Hallow. The arrival of a mysterious woman at Frostveil Castle adds an extra layer of intrigue, quietly challenging what Vale believes and hinting at the bigger story still to come.
As a prequel, it’s fairly concise and more focused on groundwork than a fully developed arc, but it does what it needs to do in setting the tone for the series.
Final Thoughts: A short but interesting introduction to Vale and the Winter Court, offering a bit of added depth to his character and the world. Not essential to read first, but a nice addition for those already invested in the series.
It’s a teaser for book#1. It got me Hyped up. Do not worry .. I checked , it’s in kindle unlimited. I liked it, this was a good idea. Also hope the heir prince gets punched in the face, dude has an attitude and I can tell he’s gonna be the antagonist or something on book 1. (Twin princes- it’s like I can smell the drama coming)
It was okay, gave some incite and background. Person who did the audiobook didn’t do a great job. Found it hard to follow when he was mixing up accents for each character 😂😂
Thoroughly enjoyed this prequel novella from the author! A great intro to a series that’s been on my TBR for a hot minute. I can’t wait to dive further into this world.
