Irresistibly, achingly beautiful. Play style bingo: fancy shelving, hi-fi, round modernist kitchen tables, architect (as so many flat owners seem to be). I read this (it’s mostly pictures but the descriptions and mini interviews are excellent) from cover to cover twice yesterday. I always wanted to live in the Barbican.

I loved this. Fascinating introduction to the Barbican and Golden Lane Estates, situating them in the historical context, followed by beautiful photos and snippets from the lives of people who live there and references to interesting design features. What a great idea for a book!

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was beautiful, but the iconic original bathrooms were continually mentioned yet never shown. I wish the interior pictures also depicted the less public and artful aspects of the Barbican apartments instead of only pictures showing the decor.
