The In Laws 4⭐️
Summery
There are monsters in laws, and then there are Chelsea's in-laws. As soon as she gets to the cabin in the middle of the woods, she knows something is wrong. A four hour hike into the woods just to get to her in-laws' house was only the first bad Omen.
My Thoughts
Wow. I think this is my favorite read from Caine. Every chapter had me completely engrossed and holding on. It is books like this that keep me reading his tales. Though I often find the author hit or miss, this was a home run!
Chelsea starts the book very nieve and trusting. She only sees the best in people. Her gullibleness had me wondering about her sanity. The character growth was amazing. She goes from completely innocence to finding her strength and will to live/fight.
Nothing is as it seems. No matter what you are thinking in the first half of the book, YOU ARE WRONG! The midway twist gave me whiplash, wondering where it could possibly go from there.
Not only is nothing what it seems, but NOONE is who they appear to be. The twists and turns in this book are so windy, and Neverending it will leave you reeling.
The Boss 2.5⭐️
Summery
Nicole Barrett is 31 and the Boss. She climbed Torontos' corporate ladder all the way to the top. She came from nothing and became something. A lioness in a man's world. Now everything has gone wrong. Everything she worked for is slipping through her fingers. Drastic measures are taken.
Alice Walker is a new hire at Lovely Beauty Supplies. She is excited about her new executive career path. She doesn't know the job offer comes with unbearable strings. She doesn't know it will be her last job ever.
My Thoughts
This is my definition of a "fluff" thriller. No real depth but a fun read. It's one of those books you read between favorite authors to give yourself a break or to get you out of a slump. I would absolutely recommend this author to fans of Blake Peirce. I will absolutely read more by this author because they are decent reads, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to a close friend.
The characters have just enough flaws and realism to keep me engaged but not enough to truly feel for them. I did highly relate to Alice's anxiety over everything. Her need to turn a mole hill into a mountain. I have the same tendency. In book form, when you know what is happening, it comes off as rather shallow and annoying. Nicole is just egotistical, vindictive, and over the top. She is just a horrible person for the sake of having a horribly unlikable character. There was nothing to her except nastiness. Evan, Alice's husband, well he's just a weak willed, spineless, little pathetic man.
******SPOILER******
STOP reading this review now if you plan to read the book!
The ending!!!! It's so unbelievable that it ruined the whole book for me. It brought a 3⭐️ read, down to a 2⭐️ read.
Nicole kills Leigh in a fit of rage, stuffs her body into a suitcase, and then 24 hours later throws her over a balcony of a high rise to fake her own death!?! That's not just improbable but impossible. First off, even though it was the top floor, and the body would have been mangled beyond recognition, DNA testing would have proved it was NOT Nicole. Even if someone was arrested for her murder it wouldn't have taken weeks, let alone months, and a guilty plea to exonerate. Second, she was in the suitcase for 24 hours. Time of death would have proved the body couldn't possibly be Nicole. She didn't liquefy. There would have been enough left for the coroner to have a reasonable time of death. The police got to the scene within minutes, and they definitely would have been able to tell, most likely on sight, that the body had been dead for at least a few hours. Lastly, a high-profile criminal murder case of that magnitude would never have been given to a green attorney with no experience. That would be grounds for a mistrial.
The Girl Outside 3⭐️
Summery
Mandy's life is falling apart. Divorced single mother, just lost her job, no experience to find a new one...... What else could go wrong? At least she still has her perfect daughter Callie.
"Her life was always a train wreck, and the only thing that kept her from complete derailment was Callie."
When Callie disappears, Mandy wakes up to realize her "perfect" daughter isn't as perfect as she seems. Does she even really know her own daughter?
My Thoughts
For such a short story, it truly packs a punch. Every page, every paragraph, was a new twist. Every chapter is a new turn. By the end, I couldn't tell what was up and what was down.
None of the characters were well fleshed out. None of them have any true depth. It's an easy quick read that keeps you on your toes and guessing what is going on. It's gripping in its simplicity. I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading it.
Mother and Daughter 2.5⭐️
Summery
Roger has been lying. The pressure of all those lies makes him snap on his wife. Now, he fears the look in his daughters eyes. He's become a monster to her.
Sarah is just trying to hold on while everything falls apart. She's not sure what is going on with her husband, but she is determined to find out. She starts stalking her husband to learn the truth, but being late for her daughters' daycare pick-up has dire consequences.
Annie's mother is dying. With her will dye the dark secrets of their pasts. She has been watching the children at her daycare. She wants to save them, but will her plan cause more harm than good?
My Thoughts
Where do I start? I'm not even sure if I liked this book. The plot was good. It kept me ingrossed and reading on, but the writing style was boring and juvenile at best. I didn't fully engage with the characters.
This 50% uneventful build-up. It's very clear what is going to happen. There is no real twist that can't be seen from a mile away. The characters didn't upset me with their actions. They did exactly what most people would do in the situation. They were just way too predictable. The book might have worked better as a crime drama, to be honest.
In the end, it was an ok read. I wouldn't recommend it, but at the same time, I'm not upset that I wanted time reading it. It was just that, a time waster while I wait for the book I want to read to come in the mail. Ehhh, I can't say much more about it without giving the whole book away. Even the main plot shows the ending.

If you love psychological thrillers that keep you on edge, this box set by James Caine is an absolute must-read! Each book is packed with tension, unexpected twists, and that addictive “just one more chapter” feeling that makes it impossible to put down.
From The In-Laws, where a simple weekend visit turns into a nightmare, to The Boss, which makes you question just how far workplace horror can go, every story grips you from the start. The Girl Outside throws you into a small-town mystery with dark secrets, while Mother and Daughter keeps you guessing with its eerie family dynamics.
James Caine masterfully builds suspense in each standalone thriller, making you immediately want to dive into the next book. Fans of Freida McFadden and Kiersten Modglin will absolutely devour this set—I know I did!
I love all these books! What a wild ride they ALL had and left me wanting more. I really enjoy this author and plan to continue to read more by him. 100% would recommend to anyone! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hmmm on the title, "Gripping Standalone Psychological Thrillers", gripping and thrillers should have been used very loosely. Of the 4 stories, #1 was a 4, very well written, plotted, developed and the surprise near the middle was on point! The other 3 stories were 3s and not all that interesting and definitely not thrillers or surprising in any way. I would recommend finding "The In-Laws" as a standalone and skipping out on the other three altogether.
I have been on a James Caine kick since receiving an ARC that introduced me to his twisty thrillers a few months ago. After finishing one of his books, I’m always wanting more, so this box set with 4 thrillers was perfect!! I loved that each story was very different from one another, so it didn’t feel like I was reading the same / similar themes.
The In-Laws: After a whirlwind romance and marriage, Chelsea meets her in-laws for the first time at their incredibly remote house in the woods. Aside from their seclusion, this starts out as what seems like a stereotypical Monster-in-Law story. I also really thought this was going to take some sort of Norma-Norman Bates turn, but instead it had a few twists that I truly wasn’t expecting! This was a good paced book, and the unsettling feeling it gives makes you want to keep on reading. I also liked the ending of this one as it wrapped things up nicely and felt well-concluded with an ending as happy as it could be.
The Boss: there are little tidbits throughout this that point to something nefarious happening, and it’s just enough to keep your attention, even though I felt this was a little slower of a book. This didn’t really bother me though because Caine does a great job at steadily building tension. The Boss is written in a first person narrative, and I do like how it alternated POVs, which made it easier to truly understand what the characters were feeling and the reasons behind it. Both Nicole and Alice are successful, ambitious women. Nicole is quite confident, manipulative, and has diabolical schemes that are motivated by her own selfishness, while Alice is a ball of anxiety and it seems a lot of her motivation stems from her insecurities and the way her father treated her as a child. As someone with anxiety, I get how easy it is to make a mountain out of a molehill, but also felt that it was super repetitive. Alice also constantly talks about how her husband doesn’t have a job, how lazy he is, etc. and all I could think is “why don’t you do something about it or leave?” which I know is easier said than done, it just was crazy to me that a woman as driven as Alice would put up with a man like Evan. While thrillers aren’t always the most believable, parts of this one were so far-fetched, such as how Nicole’s plan pans out and the incompetence of the police, that it made it kind of frustrating and ehh for me. Overall a decent read that steps beyond a typical “bad boss” story which sets it apart from other books with similar storylines, but not my favorite by Caine.
The Girl Outside: like most of his books, this is a really short, fast-paced read that is easy to finish in one sitting. While I figured I would’ve enjoyed the plot, I felt that this one wasn’t fully developed and it seemed kind of rushed. At times the story wasn’t flowing very well, almost like some words were left out. There were also some errors with character names that would distract from the story at times; for example, he wrote “Mandy sighed” when it should’ve been “Callie sighed”. The ending was also kind of abrupt and did not leave me satisfied; I felt that the ending could’ve been longer, especially since the book was already so short. I think almost every (if not every) James Caine book I’ve read has had an epilogue, so it was odd that this one didn’t, even though it may have helped strengthen the book. Unfortunately, I think this is the first book by Caine that I didn’t really enjoy a ton, even though it had so much potential.
Mother and Daughter: **some light spoilers ahead** this was another quick read, and is a solid story if you are looking for a morally grey vigilante character. Sarah and Roger are a married couple that have been experiencing difficulties in their marriage. They usually try to keep this away from their four-year-old daughter, Gracie, but recently she was caught in the middle of a fight between the two of them where she almost got injured. As we see later in the book, she has also witnessed her father getting physical with her mother. Lately, Gracie has been attending preschool in an attempt to socialize her with other children while Sarah plans to return to work. She adores her teacher, Annie, and her teacher adores her right back…but maybe a little too much. Putting together hints that Gracie has shown in her art, the way she seems uncomfortable around her father, etc. Annie takes drastic measures to help Gracie. This storyline shows that you can’t always trust the people that you should be able to, due to the many secrets and actions of the characters. One thing I liked about this book is how clearly I was able to feel the characters emotions, from Sarah’s frustrations when others doubt her suspicions, Roger’s attempts to serve justice to a local pedophile that he believes took Gracie, and to Annie’s turmoil of the choices she makes. Of course, it was heart-wrenching to see Gracie’s parents go through her abduction, even though the reader knows where Gracie is. And you can’t help but feel bad for Annie. The ending was so good too, mainly with Sarah, and I liked the last little turn of events with Annie!! But, it did leave me wanting more unfortunately. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and thought it was an original plot that highlights the complexities of trauma, abuse, and definitely of the morally-grey area.
Thank you to James Caine and Book Sirens for this free ARC. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

1) The In-Laws What an Amazing Story! This story had me wondering just what was going on!?? I mean, Chelsea married the perfect man for her! Now, she gets to go meet his parents, who live 'off the grid', but it is so much more than that! Anyone who wants a play-it-out book to remind them why their life could be SO much better??.. This is the book to read, and let your mind wander... The ending of this book is epic!
2) The Boss Building your resume in an epic way! Alice gets a big pick up to her career by moving and taking a new job which is starting her executive side in a way she has only dreamed of! Her first day, she is so nervous, and as the President of the company )Nicole) is giving her a rundown, there is someone on the leaving side of the company, a female who was the Vice President, is being fired! As office gossip goes in some places, this place does not really have room for that. There is only one thing that Alice needs to remember, 'Do Not get on Nicole's bad side'! It did not take long at all for Alice to find out how easy it is to do that. I sat up in the night reading this book so I would not miss something! This book then goes in to some very strange directions, but ones that you do not want to miss, especially if you are looking to further your career!
3) The Girl Outside What a twisted story that includes brothers and one of their wives, who is now having a thing with the one she was not married to. Mandy's ex is mean. Steve has anger issues, and many other issues as well. James and Mandy have a good time, now and again, and she keeps her daughter from knowing about it. The ending of this story is not at all what I was expecting! It was amazingly great though!
4) Mother and Daughter This is an amazing and twisted story that shows how a person can start a whirlwind of life and death actions that can not be changed or made better... or can they? When a person is living a life of abuse, even if it starts what may seem as an accident, what will it take for them to do something about it? Mother and Daughter is a great comparison of what can and may happen in both good and bad scenarios. Thank you, James Caine, for a Great Thriller Box Set! I received a complimentary copy of this set of stories and this is my honest review.
This is a four-book box set. Each book is an unrelated, individual story. It is a real bonus having four books from James Caine. I recommend the set.
BOOK 1: The In-laws This psychological thriller is about a young woman Chelsea who is taken to meet her in-laws for the first time. The trip is just for the week-end - or that’s what she thinks. It is is a horrifying suspenseful story. Not all is as it seems. The in-laws live in a remote area, off the grid. Once she gets to their place, she has no idea that she will not be allowed to leave.
I loved the story.
BOOK 2: The Boss The story opens with the Prologue. Nichole Barret, the boss of Lovely Beauty Supplies has blood splattered on her face and red stains on her pants suit. "This was not my fault. It was Alice Walker's fault. I should have never hired her to begin with."
So, I immediately think that Nicole has murdered Alice. But then again, having read quite a few of James Caine's book, maybe Nichole has come across Evan's murder. Did Alice murder Evan? Or did Nichole murder Evan?
Forget asking questions or making assumptions. Just enjoy the intriguing read with lots of twists and turns.
I arrived at the end, thinking "Wow! That was some story."
BOOK 3: The Girl Outside Callie is missing. Where is she? Her parents are separated. Is it something to do with that? Did she run away? Has she been kidnapped? If so, who is the kidnapper?
There are twists and turns and I made an assumption on who had taken her, but I was wrong.
This is a story that could really happen.
I found the ending a bit quick. I guess I know what actually happened but would have liked an epilogue for more explanation.
This is a book that is hard to put down. I recommend it.
BOOK 4: Mother and Daughter This is one of those books which is I found hard to put down once I started reading it.
It's a story about abuse.
It's also a story of a young 4-year-old girl going missing from daycare. Was she taken? Did she run away? What happened to her? Where is she? Is she alive?
This is one of those psychological thrillers which is full of twists and turns.
James Caine supplied a bonus story about Annie. I would like to hear more about her.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Even he discovers the truth about the garden.

“The Boss”
Nicole Barrett, president of Lovely Beauty Supplies, is a boss that demands the best of everyone on her staff. And of herself.

But, somehow, Callie has vanished . . . and Mandy learns that everything is a lie.
“Mother and Daughter”

This box set contains four standalone, intriguing thrillers, each filled with unexpected revelations, dark secrets, and surprising twists. Readers are sure to find it impossible to set the book aside before finishing each nightmarish tale. Readers should expect the telling of each tale to be filled with edge-of-your-seat moments, stunning disclosures, and cloaked in suspense.
Readers who enjoy psychological thrillers will find much to appreciate here, especially with the unexpected, jaw-dropping denouement that ends each story.
Highly recommended.

This is an amazing boxset of thrillers! All four books will keep you on the edge of your seat just wondering what’s waiting for you on the next page. Each story is unique in their own way. So many twists and turns! This boxset will not disappoint!! My personal favorite is The In Laws. Chelsea and Henry got married and Henry takes her to meet her in laws for the first time. Chelsea knew they lived off grid but had no idea just how off grid it was. Her in-laws end up being pretty strange but she’s only visiting for the weekend so she just keeps reminding herself of that.Never ever did she expect her weekend to go off the rails the way it did! The Boss Alice moves with her husband for her dream job. Little does she know her new job and her life is in jeopardy because her boss is out for revenge! The Girl Outside This one is about a mother and daughter and the daughter goes missing. Mandy Knox never suspected that her daughter was living a completely different life than she thought she was. Callie was sick and tired of the life she was living and wanted to try to live out her dream of moving to the city and becoming an actress. Never did her or her mother know what was really going to happen when Callie decided to leave. Callie and her friend end up in more trouble than they bargained for while her mother Mandy goes down her own dark twisted path. Mother and Daughter Sarah takes her daughter Gracie to daycare one day and when she goes to pick her up she discovers that she’s missing. Sarah and her husband Roger are each on their own crusade to find out who has taken their daughter. There is the pedophile that lives nearby or is it the weird daycare teacher that smiles just a little too wide.
The in-laws: Chelsea has married the man of her dreams. Or so she thinks. When she's taken to meet his parents, it quickly becomes clear that all is not as it seems. The plan is never to let her go. Does it succeed? Read and find out. James is the master of complex characters and it doesn't get more complex than this lot. A fast paced thriller that has more layers than filo pastry.
The Boss Alice has dreams of making it big in the corporate world and is delighted when she lands her dream job. She soon realises it's her nightmare job. Her boss Nichole is at some points lovely and other points evil. We soon realise why. Alice has to fight for her marriage, her career and ultimately her life. Another fast enjoyable read.
The Girl Outside
Mandy isn't the best mum in the world. When her daughter Callie goes missing, she quickly realises she didn't know her daughter at all. Is Callie missing from choice? Has she been taken? Mandyattles her demons and tries to find her daughter, but is the issue closer to home? I did feel the ending to this book was rather abrupt but again, an enjoyable fast paced read.
Mother and Daughter I really enjoyed this book. Again we have complex characters with very complex issues. We meet a daycare educator with such a sorry past that has affected her life. While she's determined not to follow in her mother's footsteps, she begins to believe a child in her care, Gracie has an abusive parent. The consequences are far reaching and devastating (to a point). This is a thought provoking book and was my favourite of the four. I'd recommend these books. You'll have a roller coaster of a ride reading them.
I really fell in love with this box set. I feel that psychological thrillers are either good or they totally flunk. James Caine is a fantastic author, and he does so well in this genre. I am going to review each of these books separately...
The In-Laws .... Absolutely fantastic story. Loved the characters and WOW.. what a twist. I honestly did not see the twist in this storyline coming. The book keeps you engaged from start to finish. On the edge of your seat adventure. And I really loved Fred, he was a great character, absolutely wanted all good things for him, he deserved it. Recommend this read to everyone. The Boss …. This book was great. The twists, the adventure left me wanting more. A book I could not put down. Murder, an indecent proposal, stalking, suspense and adventure all wrapped up in a nice big bow. This is a must read for the lover of thrillers. The Girl Outside…. Another great book. This one held you right to the last chapter, left me wondering who did it, all the way through, so many things pointed to one person, then another, but in the end, did not see it coming to who was the actual baddie in this book. Unfortunately, so many to choose from. Mother and Daughter…. Fantastic…. This was a gripping novel that held me all the way from start to finish. I absolutely loved this adventurous story. I felt for the parents of little Gracie. Especially, mum. I do hope that everything that went down in the house actually came out in the end.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
WOW! The third of this book was a wild ride. I much preferred this last bit overall, but it may be too OTT for most people. I do recommend it, but go into it with the mentality of a lifetime movie!
The explosiveness here was off the roof; it was everything I expected in a popcorn thriller; I binged it on a day.
THE IN-LAWS: Almost up there with The Boss from this author, I think!
I got it right with the general twist because I feel like every “in-law” book goes this way, but I liked how Caine tweaked a few things to make this common twist his and original. Recommend!
MOTHER DAUGHTER: Solid 3 stars, it was pretty obvious what was going on but the last events of the final chapters made this one get a higher rating. Fun, interesting.
THE GIRL OUTSIDE: This is an outlier so far from this author. A short read (shorter than others); I actually thought this was a novella or something, but it felt longer than it was because of the pacing.
I feel like the story needed more development and also for the characters to be a bit more fleshed out, maybe? I felt very disconnected from Callie's diary entries/narration, and perhaps this made me not really care too much for what happened to the story overall.
I am grateful to have received an advance review copy of this set for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Overall, this was a very fun, easy to read, well paced set of books. The plots were fun, with good twists, and simple and enjoyable thrills.
The In-Laws: Very fun! It is hard to surprise me with plot twists. This one was a wonderful surprise! I very much enjoyed this book and was particularly touched by one of the characters. You have got to love making a more heartwarming connection with a character in a book. This was my favorite of the four books in this set.
The Boss: I had a little struggle getting into this book but it was very much worth it. I did not relate to any of these characters as much as I typically do with this author, but it was still very entertaining with some fun plot twists to keep you interested.
The Girl Outside: This was not my favorite of the four books, but still a fun, quick, entertaining read with some fun twists and a good mystery.
Mother and Daughter: I appreciated the shift from the typical mystery story here. It was fun to have a change of topic. I also appreciated the twist at the end. It was a fun revenge twist.
Overall, this is a great set to have and enjoy. And perfect for holiday and birthday gifts!
Closer to 3.5 stars. My thanks to the BookSirens team, the publishers and the author for this review copy. This is the second time I have picked books by this author.
This is a great box set of 4 separate stories, all psychological thrillers and coming from the quill of James Caine whose work I have had the good fortune to read a couple of months back, so nearly 800 pages of pure thrill.
All four stories are very good premises and well written with the second story, 'The Boss' for me the pick of the lot and the third one, 'The Girl Outside' the weakest of the four. When I say weakest it is my choice of the stories in order with the first and the fourth coming in between. What I loved about the stories was the commonality of the situations in everyday life, the jitters for a person visiting the spouse's parents house, the situations cropping up while working for a demanding boss and situations in family relationships.
The volume starts of with a bang with, 'The In-Laws', a truly twisted tale and the cold moments keep coming up every few pages for the rest of ths mammoth volume.
I’ve read 9 books by James Caine. 5 plus the 4 in this collection. I enjoy his style of writing and his creativity. The 4 combined I give 5 stars but individually I rank the Boss and the In-laws 5 stars and mother and daughter 4 and the Girl Outside 3 stars. The In-Laws, you never see anything coming. Wow!! The Boss another book so full of surprises!!! Loved the great endings in both of them. The Girl Outside kept me reading but the ending had so many unanswered questions it was a let down. mother and Daughter I had read previously and I like the chapters with alternating characters Roger, Sarah, and Annie’s point of view. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you love edge of you seat twisty thrillers then you will love this box set!
The In-Laws Chelsea is visiting her new in-laws for the first time in their remote cabin in the woods but not everything is as simple as it might seem at first. Her new husband, Henry, thinks she will get along rest with them but she gets a frosty reception from her mother in law and there is also something strange going on with her father in law as well. Will she be able to survive the weekend with them or will things take a sinister turn when she least expects it!
I’ve only read the first book so far but I loved it and could not put it down till the very end. This was very entertaining and I am looking forward to reading more from James Caine.
I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.
WOW what an amazing boxset of thrillers! All four books are psychological thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Each story is unique in their own way full of twists and turns!
The title of the four stories is: Book one: The in-laws, Book two: The Boss, Book three: The Girl Outside Book four: Mother and Daughter.
All four stories are excellent reads, I highly recommend this fantastic box set!
I received a free advance review copy of this box set through BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
These stories were F*cked UP! Twisted and mentally exhausting! I loved them. Well, all except the last one. That one I couldn’t read. I have a thing about kids. Can’t read anything disturbing about children. But the first 3 i loved. They made me uncomfortable and nervous. Had me on edge and anxious but enthralled to the very end.
5 stars for the first 3 books in this set. 4 stars overall because I couldn’t read the last book in the set.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was nervous about reading a box set of individual books. But considering it was free I decided to try them. I wouldn’t say I am disappointed overall it would be a 3.5 but below I rated each book. 1. The In-laws. This was incredibly well written and a pretty fast read. The characters were interesting, but the wife is a bit naive okay maybe a lot lol. The story line kept me wanting to read and figure it out. I was kept guessing which I liked. This was my favorite out of the set. It’s my first book by the author. 2.
This is a great collection of great stories by James Caine. They are all psychological thrillers. Each story was awesome. They are fast paced and exciting. You can’t put them down. I had read the books at different times and having them all in one box set is a great idea. You can have a bunch of great James Caine stories all in one place. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
I am no stranger to this author! some books have been hits while others have not. that does not stop me from reading the different plots and story lines! If I had to pick a favorite story from this boxset, it will for sure be the in-laws!! This author is easily becoming a favorite. I am generally enjoying the different themes and plots!
4.5 stars -The Girl Outside. I was really intrigued by the characters and I liked the web that was created between them. there was a lot of finger pointing and i was there for all of it! I enjoyed how the perspectives kept changing, making me stay engaged and paying attention. I especially loved the ending! It open ended with some questions remaining! hmmmm!! I am excited to read the other 3 books in this boxset and hope they are as entertaining as this one!
5 stars! - The In-laws Wow. This one was my favorite!!! I really enjoyed the plot. I love mother-in-law thrillers and this one was completely different than any other one I have read making it a real page turner! I definitely didn’t see that one coming!!!
3 stars- The Boss This one had me until one little detail that actually turned into a big plot hole. It just wasn’t believable. Please contact me personally if you want to hear more on this one!
Mother and daughter- 5 stars. OMG. This story was wow! I was not expecting that ending. I loved it! Wow. Excellent dark and disturbing for sure. I’m becoming a fan of this author!!
All these books were suspenseful psychological thrillers which I thoroughly enjoyed. Immediately you knew strange creepy events were going to occur. James Caine does a great job turning his twisted imagination into enjoyable thrillers.
I received a free copy of this book via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I liked the unusual stories the writing so good you can visualise the scene Lots of twists but the endings not good leaves you in limbo unless there is a second book continuing the story line You need closure on all the characters I really enjoyed Rhiannon set
This is a new to me author, but I will definitely be looking for more of his works. These stories will keep you on the edge of your seat and riveted to the pages. If you enjoy mysteries, suspense, and thrillers, you will enjoy this box set.
I received an ARC from BookSirens and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
James Caine is strong at creating twists that you really don't see coming. The psychological aspects of the book grip you and keep you asking questions. However, the characters lack depth and I struggle to empathise with any of them. With a little more focus on adding depth to create more rounded characters and I feel Caine could become one of my favourite authors.
The mix of stories in this collection are all thrilling and totally addictive, once you start reading you will not want to put it down until you finish. Each tale just pulls you in immediately and keeps you gripped through every line. If you enjoy stories with twists and turns then this selection is a must read for you, it will not let you down.
A fantastic collection of edge of your seat, page turning thrillers complete with twists and turns that you can't put down. I highly recommend this box set where each book will grab you from the beginning and never lets you go until the surprising endings! I received an ARC of these books but the opinions here are strictly my own
I didn't see that coming, amazing writing! Hopefully he will come out with a second to the book it was so good. All 4 of the books in this thriller set were great reads! highly recommend
Overall there were good once you get past the mistakes.
There were several typos in all four stories and even a character mixup in the third story. The story lines were good and kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next. I would read more from this author.
