As a seasoned Dom, nothing much surprised Merrick Coleman. Recalcitrant submissives, bratty Littles, sneaky masochists... he'd dealt with them all. His reputation as a fair yet strict Dom followed him from his previous life in New York all the way to Denver, a fact he took pride in. But when he stumbled across a shocking find, one with repercussions for the whole of Serenity, not even his years of experience could save him from what came next.
Tamsyn and Merrick’s story was spectacular. This couple pulled on my heartstrings deeply. Poor Tamsyn has had a deplorable upbringing until she takes fate in her own hands and runs from her community. Merrick has the patience of a saint but love will do that to a man. This story was a lesson in faith indeed! It was also about trust and love and chosen family. Kay Elle Parker has written another amazing story in this Serenity series ❤️
I think this story is the best of the series so far. This author has a way to evoking so many emotions with her writing. Merrick is a character we know from the previous book in the series, someone who is always willing to help out someone in the Club Serenity community. Tamysn has escaped from her own community, but it is not as supportive or loving. When they first meet Tamysn has become spontaneous mute due to her trauma. She is scared of just about every one and every thing except Merrick. In fact, she's attracted to him and the feeling is mutual. Unfortunately they have some major obstacles, both real and imagined. After a few bumps along the way, they fortunately find their way. The growth of Tamsyn is a sight to behold and Merrick's love and acceptance is amazing. The inevitable showdown at the end was good, even with the TSTL moment. Great HEA for this couple.
Where do I even begin with how incredible this story was! I’m a lover of this series and each book tells its own unique story. But nothing prepared me for the onslaught of emotions that I would feel while reading it. A definite five star plus from me! My heart broke and was put back together so many times. The journey that Merrick and Tamsyn took me on was unlike any other. Merrick is a Dom/Master at Serenity who is so dark, depraved and delicious. When he unexpectedly comes upon Tamsyn, it’s game over. But she comes from a world of such horror and heartlessness that I wanted to jump thru the pages and wrap my arms around her and hug her. Merrick is so kind and patient, my heart literally melted. These two are utter perfection. What I also enjoyed was learning more about the other characters and their dynamics. Your head will spin, your heart will implode and you will fall irrevocably in love with Merrick & Tamsyn. There is a reason I enjoy this author’s stories, and this one, is a perfect example. Pure brilliance!
I preordered this book in December ‘24 and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I love the Club Serenity books and the Club Avalon books, too. This one made me cry (in a good way) because the relationship between Tamsyn and Merrick was so overwhelmingly sweet without the slightest bit of saccharine. Parker manages to portray love between her characters that is so true, so believable that you wish you could meet them in real life.
I wanted to like it more than I did, there was just a few too many things/situations I didn’t like, like him trying to pawn her off on someone else when she was so inlove with him, without communicating which he says is so important in their dynamic…
Holy moly .. another extraordinary read by Ms. Kay Elle Parker! Darker (oh Meck!), dirtier, more suspense, such love, such respect. Absolutely unbelievably fantastic book. KLP has outdone herself. A long book, but hers are never long enough. Don't miss this one. Another 10☆ book and really should hit #1 right out of the publishing house. xo
This is book 5 in the Club Serenity series. Merrick has found a damsel in distress. Literally found her hiding in a cupboard in Club Serenity. And then my heart broke. Broke for Tamsyn and her atrocious past. The author has this incredible talent to make me feel everything her heroines lives and this story is no exception. Tamsyn and Merrick's journey to happiness is not easy, but so worth it !
Tamsyn and Merrick’s story is truly an emotional journey of trust, hope, faith and love. A wonderful story as a young woman running scared, for her life runs away from the community she has been raised in, from everything she's ever know. Tamsyn's story pulls you in its such an emotional story to hear the abuse and degradation she's been living in until she decided to run away and take her life back. I love how patient Merrick is with her, she's so scared and anxious. I love how gentle he is with her; he shows her she can trust him and gives her hope and faith for a better life. He's such a strong dominate Dom at Club Serinity it's really nice to see a softer, gentler side to his personality. A captivating story with many obstacles to overcome, I love how she grows and matures with Merricks gentle hand, love and patience. Merrick feeling he's too old for her and fights his feeling while always knowing they have a connection a connection he's never felt before. There is love story is an emotional rollercoaster as Merrick is gentle and patient, he show's her she can trust him, have faith in him as she to overcome the trauma in her life to find love and happiness. Can he keep her safe from the abusive community she escaped from? I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story.
A community where females are chattel. They are not even documented. They are traded , bartered, and killed with abandon. Tamsyn has run out of time. Even though it is January, snowy and cold, she runs. Battered, bruised, a broken wrist, and mute she is discovered by Merrick. He and his crew at Club Serenity circle the wagons.
Limited reading or writing skills, never having seen technology such as TV or phones, and knowing that a wrong word can mean death. This is an ingenious journey, presented in heart-breaking and heart-warming fashion. To finally be safe, to have enough food, to have someone look after your needs.
Clever, gripping, irresistible story which you will never be able to put down, and which will stick with you after the last page is turned.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
A Journey of Growth and Redemption The story deeply portrays Tamysn's emotions right from the start. The narrative allows readers to closely follow her journey and experiences. Merrick's character is presented as easy-going, and his development throughout the series leads to his happy ending while maintaining a certain distance from others. The plot includes unexpected twists and turns. The scene involving Linnie was significant and leaves questions about her future and the role of the Masters of Serenity. The concept of a 'hero complex' is explored in the context of running towards danger. This book is recommended for its emotional depth and moments of levity, featuring reunions of old friends and the formation of new relationships under challenging circumstances.
I've been a fan of Kay Elle Parker for several years now, and let me tell you, she is one of my favorite one-click authors. Her latest book, Lesson In Faith is so very good!!! It's commonplace to get every emotion pulled from your body, you're scrubbed raw, and then you're put back together again. Merrick and Tamsyn's story is full of heart stopping moments, I couldn't put it down. I've always loved Kay's writing, and this story is no exception. I cried, I laughed, I even wanted to throw the book across the room at one point. In my estimation, that's what you'd call a wonderful reading experience. Thank you, Kay for continuing to bring us brilliant stories that we cannot simply live without!!
This was such an amazing story and the title says it all. Merrick and Tamsyn were so perfect together her Merk and his little Owl my heart melted at the patience and the understanding by both and the family at Serenity.
Tamsin had a horror of a life and to get past that was a feat in itself the pain and flashbacks will haunt you as she survived the Community she came from. Merrick is like a teddy bear with her but also strict and takes the reigns, what love will do is amazing.
It us the most beautiful story so full full of connection, praise, big emotions. Their are scenes that are intense had my heart in my throat. I love this Authors writing so much, she brings her characters to life in a way you feel it all and fall in love.
This book is a doozy it's long with long chapters and throughout references a community that abuses women and children. Overall, the characters kept me interested and I wanted to find out how they grew and changed. While this story is not directly linked to others in the series, there are references and characters that overlap.
Tamsyn runs towards the lights, hoping to find a place better than the almost assured death she left behind. She finds herself at a BD$M resort and a whole different world than she left.
Merrick cannot get the big eyes of the strange woman from the forest out of his mind. He needs to help her adjust to this life without losing his heart to her.
I've been eagerly anticipating 'Lesson in Faith' by Kay Elle Parker, and it did not disappoint. The title perfectly captures the themes of trust, submission, and faith that weave throughout this heart-wrenching yet passionate romance. Merrick, a seasoned Dom, and Tamsyn, a young woman fleeing abuse and evil men, form a complex and intense bond as Merrick takes her in and slowly teaches Tamsyn about love and trust. And I’ll just say.. the hotness is freaking HOT! With danger lurking, their relationship is put to the test, but ultimately, they find their happiness together. “This is a lesson in faith, little owl. Faith in yourself, faith in me.” Love reading The Serenity series! 🤓
Lesson in Faith by Kay Elle Parker is fantastic. This is one of the few authors I read who does indeed build her own world to sink into. Her characters have such depth and her stories have great plot lines. She writes interconnected stories that are easily read alone but a joy to return to previous characters to see how they are progressing. It is the inclusion of these characters that provide such depth. I have been holding back from this story on my TBR list because it is long but it was so good, I was sorry it was over. In brief, Tamsyn escapes from a cult that abuses women and finds herself at Club Serenity where Merrick takes over her care. She is initially mute due to her trauma but Merrick is capable of understanding her regardless. Just a fantastic read!
When Tamsyn shows up at Club Serenity she is broken, bruised, and mute - and on the run from a religious "community". Her eyes tell her entire life's story and earn her the title of "Little Owl" from a big, very big (winkwink) man. She should be scared of him but he quickly becomes her comfort. Merrick has sworn to never love, he is a career Dom who does not want his own sub - until both he and his "little owl" become so entwined that they cannot bear to be parted. "Lesson in Faith" is aptly named and must be read, nay devoured in order to truly understand its title. As with all other Kay Elle Parker books, this is a Must Read!
This is an amazing story full of feelings and an ending that will make you cry tears of joy. It is one of those stories that you want to speed through but at the same time you never want it to end it is so good. This is indeed a lesson in faith and Tamsyn has so much and Merrick is the epitome of patience which is exactly what Tamsyn needs. To say her upbringing was horrific is an understatement and to see her grow and develop, love and trust and find her voice under the most dire of circumstances was wonderful. This is a story that is not to be missed.
Tamsyn stumbled into her future when she was wandering in the woods and sought shelter in a cabin in Club Serenity. This new family in Denver is an extension of the original family and some of them come to visit! This is a story of emotional growth and almost as a baby seeing things out in the world for the first time. It's magical. Merrick is the right person for Tamsyn, he is her missing piece, and she is his. The freedom of love is an eye opening experience and I saw it here, in this book.
I have been a fan of this series since the first book was published. Bring out the tissues on this one! Tamsyn and Merrick, are meant to be together and Merrick's patience, kindness towards her is what makes this story so interesting and spellbinding. This emotionally charged story of a young woman having to learn how to trust, to love as she comes from a world of darkness and pain will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions along with her. I am in love with this series and the powerful emotions Kay Elle Parker brings into it.
When I given a chance to go back to Club Serenity, I couldn’t wait to jump in and sink back into the world that will make me feel like the world is better place to be in but when the first few pages revealed a dash for freedom in a life and death situation,it felt like I was with Tamsyn with every breath she took until she fell under the spell of master Merrick as he tool on his little Owl… I loved the age gap/virginal vibes between Master Merrick and Tamsyn as they take baby steps in desensitising Tamsyn form the horrors that she escaped from, and with club Serenity all collectively coming together to aid in the process definitely made this an emotional read and another favourite to add to my collection…
I love this spin off from Club Avalon. We've met Merrick before and this is his story. Tamsyn's story broke my heart and she had issues with people after that. But Merrick sees her and wants to help her. This story will take you through all the emotions. I can't really say to much or it will give the story away but Kay Elle Parker writes stories that will keep the reader engaged because you won't be able to put it down. There were definitely some obstacles for these two to overcome but you know they'll get there. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would!!
This is one of the best books in both series in Club Serenity but recommend to start with Club Avalon because the characters carry over both collections. It will help get the backstory of all the characters and drag you in all books. I really love how the chapters are written. And I do love when the books are written so feel I have a to gotten a complete story line that doesn’t leave you hanging. Although I would not mind a book about the lives of Club Avalon to catch up on them. Thank you Ms. Parker for the best reading experience.
I loved Merrick's story. Tamsyn is a great character for Merrick. Watching her grow and discover who she is as a person was interesting to read. Watching how she and Merrick just feel so quickly in love was also fun to read about. I also love the growth of Club Serenity and it's members. How we are getting the group growth we got with the previous series is wonderful! I really can't wait to see where everything goes!
Excellent book.Jasper and Anarchy are still my favorite couple in the Avalon/ Serenity series, but Marrick and Tamnyn are close. Good suspense, good plot, fantastic world building and supporting character.Coxswain sounded like something from a historical romance. The humor all through the book was grant. It had a good balance of humor and intense seriousness. Well done.
4.5 🌟 This series remain a solid favorite. BDSM used as tool for trauma & phobia healing is a trope but also a reality. It's concentrated humanity in the rawest form, good bad and ugly. So many interesting & fun secondary characters (some that we know by heart by now & others we would like to get to know)... I'm convinced 50 books wouldn't be enough to tell all the stories (Serenity needs to be renamed Pandemonium for real).
Somehow I hadn't come across this author but took a chance upon a friend recommendation. So very glad I did. I need to go back and read the club Avalon series. Even if you aren't into the bdsm lifestyle, the stories and characters are so much more than a particular genre. This was a longer book, but worth the extra time. Be sure to read this series in order.
Kaye is a phenomenal writer with the ability to do what a book should do and fully submerge you into the story. Club Avalon was an emotional winding climb and moving into serenity's world seemed difficult, like cheating almost but it has captivated just as much as Avalon. A beautiful story with passion and devotion in all the right places
Wow!!! This book was longer than the others in the series, but it needed to be. Any shorter and the author wouldn't have been able to do it justice! Merrick and Tamsyn's story has areas where she remembers glimpses from her childhood, teens, and twenties before escaping. Intrigued?? Read the book!! 😁
