Rieccoci al rientro dalle ferie… e sarà la malinconia per la fine dell’estate, sarà la poca
voglia di abbandonare spiagge e lettini, ma a segnare l’inizio di una nuova stagione di
recensioni tocca a una lettura che ho trovato non proprio soddisfacente.
Ed è un peccato perché lo stile dell’autrice non è male, il ritmo regge e la storia ha del
potenziale.
Un potenziale che un po’ sfuma a causa dei livelli di assurdità raggiunti dalla trama –
capisco che parliamo di fiction, ma mi aspetto almeno una storia che possa essere
verosimile.
Mega riassunto: la protagonista, Lisa, lavora in un ufficio a New York e all’improvviso
viene denunciata per aver sottratto dei soldi, che poi si scoprirà essere stati rubati dalla sua
responsabile, la quale altri non è che la fidanzata del fratello vigile del fuoco dell’avvocato
che rappresenterà il suo ufficio in tribunale. Lo so che vi state chiedendo perché ho
specificato il lavoro del suddetto fratello, beh ve lo svelo: per un falso allarme antincendio
proprio lui – toh, che coincidenza! – arriverà a casa di Lisa e diventeranno quasi amici… e
questa amicizia appena nata salverà la situazione.
Questo avvocato, il nostro protagonista Nick, risolve tutte le beghe dei suoi clienti (anche
quelle al limite della legalità) e conosce Lisa su un app di incontri, dopo qualche messaggio
le propone di passare un weekend con lui a Las Vegas dietro lauto compenso e lei, tutta
timida e riservata, nonché in crisi per il processo che l’attende di lì a qualche mese, cosa fa?
Accetta, signori e signore! L’integerrima Lisa dall’etica incorruttibile (proprio quella che la
mette nei guai) finisce con l’accettare, preferendo tirarsi fuori dai guai in questo modo
piuttosto che chiedere aiuto alla sua migliore amica, sposata con un milionario… sì, avete
letto bene.
Il motivo che spinge Nick al viaggio a Las Vegas è la risoluzione di una di quelle beghe che
lui spesso risolve, non che gli dispiaccia avere compagnia, ma proprio per questo, dopo una
notte infuocata, sparisce e a Lisa non resta che tornare a New York delusa, amareggiata… e
incinta!
Immaginate quando poco dopo tre mesi se lo ritrova davanti in aula… esilarante.
Menomale che ci pensano i momenti spicy ad animare le pagine e quella perversa (e un po’
masochista) curiosità che si scatenerà in voi di capire quanto ancora più ingarbugliate
potrebbero farsi le cose.
La storia resta lineare, non vi aspettate di soffrire o di assistere a un’evoluzione vera e
propria dei personaggi, perché non è questo lo scopo del romanzo. Nemmeno il doppio pov
(punto di vista) in prima persona riuscirà a farvi identificare con i protagonisti… e
menomale, potrebbe dire qualcuno.
Insomma, se non vi siete persi nell’azzeccagarbugli del mio riassunto e avete qualche ora
libera da passare in compagnia di una lettura leggera, veloce, senza troppe aspettative,
fateci un pensierino!

Ich liebe das Buch. Das Cover ist toll und passt super zum Buch. Die Geschichte von Rick und Lisa ist einfach toll. Beide lernen sich durch bestimmte Umstände kennen. Danach haben sie eine Weile nichts mehr miteinander zu tun. Dann treffen beide wieder aufeinander und jeder hat seine Geheimnisse. Warum ist er plötzlich anders? Verrät Lisa ihm ihr Geheimnis? Diese Fragen werden euch im Buch beantwortet. Im Klappentext findet ihr die wichtigsten Informationen zum Buch. Vieles scheint auf den ersten Blick nicht so zu sein wie man denkt. Ich habe alle möglichen Emotionen beim Lesen gefühlt. Von begeistert bis schockiert war alles dabei. Rick und Lisa mag ich beide sehr. Beide machen im Laufe der Geschichte eine Wandlung durch. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist absolut fesselnd und mitreißend. Ich kann das Buch nur weiterempfehlen. ❤️❤️❤️

Sarò sincera, mi dispiace davvero molto per questo libro. Aveva del potenziale, ma non è stato sfruttato nel modo giusto. Da come l'ho conosciuto, mi è stato presentato come un pregnancy trope, ma non è proprio vero. Se dovevi esserci la tematica della gravidanza nella storia, andava approcciata in un altro modo! Mi è sembrato tutto tropo lungo e complicato, senza che c'è ne fosse un reale motivo e alla fine mi sono ritrovata con un salto temporale di tre mesi e "sorpresa sorpresa" lei era incinta! Il primo quarto, quasi la prima metà, è stata noiosa e non mi faceva nemmeno troppo impazzire il modo di fare del protagonista maschile. Rick ho cominciato a capirlo meglio dalla seconda metà in più, quando anche la storia, il loro rapporto e i capitoli si sono fatti più interessanti. Il fatto è che pensandoci, è abbastanza assurdo e irrealizzabile come situazione (e capisco che sia finzione, ma davvero uno sconosciuto su un'app di incontri ti offre 50.000 dollari, un weekend con lui a Las Vegas e tu accetti?) è stato poco credibile. Che poi sia migliorato nel corso della storia è un'altra cosa, alla fine si percepiva l'interesse di Rick nei confronti di Lisa ed è stato carino il suo atteggiamento con lei. Ma torniamo sempre al discorso di prima: loro potranno aver trascorso il loro tempo insieme in maniera intensa e significativa, ma tu una persona "normale e qualunque" in due giorni si innamora di uno sconosciuto solo stando a quei pochi giorni passati in compagnia??? Non penso proprio...mi sembra molto accampato in aria e mi dispiace, perché se strutturato meglio sarebbe venuta fuori una cosa molto più carina.

Ok I did enjoy the story for the most part . Kinda bugs me how they all start with the Man having no real respect for anything or any one. And then one encounter changes her whole personality just seems a little bit too unrealistic yes I know I know it’s a bike they’re not supposed to be realistic but they seem so far out there and left field but I still read it I still enjoyed it so I guess that’s what matters right but in her books they all have sterling blue eyes but none of the covers have blue eyes why just why

November 4, 2024Rick and Lisa. They meet on a blinddate. The date in Vegas. What happened in Vegas doesnt stay there. Theirs is a chaotic story with misunderstandings and an attorney with an agenda. It all works out in the end.

Enjoyed their story till the end. So many coincidences, but it turned out find. What a happy ending, she got her man and had his baby boy.

Dit was even een boekje tussendoorn. Niets bijzonders, gewoon prima om even in een dagje uit te lezen. Lekker ook in bed gelezen, dus een prima boekje voor tussendoor.
