He came to Sleepy Hollow, and he’ll destroy them all.
They’re here in Sleepy Hollow—witches, ghosts, demons—and everything that exists in nightmares around the world. The Headless Horseman, his cursed blade gleaming as he rides through the night. A relentless force of vengeance, he returns every few years to claim the heads of the living, leaving nothing but terror and death in his wake.

When the Headless Horseman slays Katalina Van Brunt's father, she vows to stop the monstrous legend once and for all. Armed with an alleged silver bullet, she shoots him down, believing the nightmare is over.

Too bad no one told her the Horseman can’t be killed.

Revived and seething with rage, Fallon—the man behind the legend—captures Katalina, dragging her into his cursed domain. Believing her to be a witch and the key to breaking his curse, Fallon subjects Katalina to medieval tortures, desperate to pry information from her.

Despite his relentless attempts to end her life, a cruel twist of fate prevents him from delivering the final blow—and they both discover that a mix of pain and pleasure is the only thing that can quell the curse’s wrath.

As they battle against the dark forces that bind them, Katalina finds herself torn between her duty to her town and the dangerous allure of the man who was meant to kill her. But as Fallon's pain grows, so does his obsession, and Katalina must decide whether to save her heart or her soul.

Return to Sleepy Hollow in this delightfully delicious new standalone story that is part of the Van Tassel Witches series.
Kat Van Tassel is in for quite the ride when she witnesses the demise of her father at the hands of the Horseman. She gets revenge, but victory is brief when he captures her the next time he rises. Fallon, the horseman, believes that Kat knows who wields his curse. But when she finally convinces him otherwise, he decides she’ll help break it instead. Turns out Fallon knows a lot about the residents of Sleepy Hollow…and their secrets.
This book is a page-turner. It gripped us from the first page with the call to the Horseman to action. From there we’re hit with drama, suspense, mystery, and a healthy dose of enemies to lovers romance. Peppered with questions this book will keep you glued as you read to piece together the riddle of who the witch is and why they Kat no longer of this world.
The author promises a happy ending and definitely delivers. We’re eager to read more of this series and see what else we can discover in Sleepy Hollow and the Van Tassel witches.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Part II
I’ve read the author’s ‘Chronicles of Tarotland’ series and had been anxiously awaiting this book. Merely by her name alone, rather than having any clue about the book description.
I started reading it without even looking at the cover – and boy, was I hooked from the beginning! I mean, I really really really enjoy retellings, different perspective, and story continuations; but this… get your copy and find out for yourself how gothy a modern reader can write.

I’ll add to my review later (Imma gonna take my time with this treasure), but here are a few comments other than praise:

*Readers are treated to a wee bit of philosophy, which *could* pertain to any type of monster (including IRL humans).
‘How could such a monster possess a soul?’
Not that I’m excusing what said monsters do/say, but there are times when we as humane people need to realize that “this doesn’t come from nothing” as a friend once informed me.

*Chilling!:
‘I first have to accept who I am so that I can conquer with confidence.’
‘There is only darkness, as if a black shadow conceals whatever lies within.’
‘There’s a crazed look in his eyes. The bluish-gray color cannot mask the many different shades of insanity he has inside them.’

*** EDIT:
After finishing, I really don’t have anything to add. There were a few contenders for (my infamous) “Fave line”, but they all would have been spoilers to some extent. So, I stand by my closing line…

Absolutely LOVED THIS!!!! I read this cover to cover in a day because it was that good. The story is about a girl (possibly with powers) who decides to fight back against the headless horseman. When her and a friend attempt to badly injure the headless horseman he comes back and takes her captive. At first the horseman tortures her to get answers about her family and town that she really has no clue about. But slowly she learns more and more about the quiet town that her mother married into. Also, throughout the story we learn more about the headless horseman and his heartbreaking past. Together they strive to figure out who is cursing the headless horseman and discovery feelings. Finally, there is also a touch of witch trials in this at the end that ties everything together. Great ending!

This was so well written and the plot kept me glued to this book. There was always something contributing to the story in a good way. The novel is perfect length. The authors writing style is barely any fluff. The sexual tension in this book was something else. There are two romance scenes in this book. I would definitely say this is an adult type style book.

Slow burn
enemies to lovers
possessive / protective
Non-traditional sexual play
Forced proximity

Triggers:
Violence/Torture
Sexual Assault
Assault by step parent
Narcissism

Thank you Author Killian Wolf and BookSprout for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions in this review are honest and my own.

Rating System:
1 star - I did not finish and will not pick it up again
2 stars - I did not finish, may finish sometime in the future. Was not interested in the story, was not enjoyable, or was poorly written.
3 stars - Finished the story, it was average, did not dislike or like it overall.
4 stars - I liked the story, it was enjoyable, would recommend.
5 stars - I loved the story, will recommend every time, and would even read it again.

First and foremost, check the trigger warnings prior to reading. I do not consider this book to be grotesquely or egregiously violent, but others may disagree.

I have always loved the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Tales of the Headless Horseman. And just like all of my other dark romance girlies, who wouldn’t love the headless horseman? He’s always been a vibe.

So naturally, I saw this book and immediately wanted to read it. I requested and ARC and was approved!

This is the story of Katalina Van Brunt, daughter of Katrina Van Tassel. After witnessing her father’s murder by the Headless Horseman, she is on a quest for vengeance. Armed with a silver bullet, she hunts him down and shoots. Taking him down and believing the nightmare is over.

Then one night, Fallon the headless horseman, is revived from Kay’s attempt on his life and is seething with rage. He captures Katalina and drags her down into his lair. Believing that if he tortures her for information, he may be able to find his freedom and break his curse.

The character development is perfectly paced for this book. You get to know Katalina and Fallon, their backstories and personalities. Katalina is strong, sassy, and brave and stands her ground. Fallon is dark and brooding, but honest and passionate. The story is paced very well, starting out with action and continuing through the whole novel. The spice is great and doesn’t consume the whole book (which I prefer). I thought that this was a unique retelling of this story, and also believable (with magic of course). The author also wasn’t overly wordy with descriptions and the plot points throughout were not repetitive.

I started reading this book at around 8:30 pm and would not stop until I was done! I haven’t had that much interest in a book for quite some time.

This is definitely a 5 star read for me!

This was a slow-burn retelling of the headless horseman with some familiar names popping up in a creative and interesting way.
We follow Katalina as she is taken by the horseman, but not all is as it seems. The town and history has managed to warp his story. Not only that, but we find out he has risen upon a witch's command.
Katalina manages to strike a bargain with the horseman to help free him and save Sleepy Hollow by figuring out who it is. However, the more time she spends trying to figure it out and also develop her own magic, the more things change between her and the horseman.
I think this was pretty good, but sometimes the pacing seemed a little off. Maybe it was just me though. I think it picked up in the last third.
I will say it was nice to watch the dynamic change between them overtime. And seeing her slowly change her mind about him, and him slowly opening up was pretty cute. However, the fact he had had a wife was odd, and there is a scene later that seemed to kind of throw me off. I get it though, he had a whole life before everything happened to him.
I do like how everything was wrapped up neatly, and a lot of things were finally made clear. I definitely didn't have a guess at the answer to the mystery!
Overall, a nice twist on an old tale.

Of Headless Hollows by Killian Wolf

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

GENRE: Dark Romance Horror
TROPES: Enemies to Lovers, Age gap, Torture, Curse, He falls first (I think)
PROS:
👻 I loved sleepy hollow the movie and this feels like a follow up to the movie (with a few tweaks).
👻 The story was cohesive and would make sense whether or not you know the sleepy hollow story as well as me.
👻 It was 🔥🔥🔥 and knowing the headless horseman had an irish accent? AHhh!

CONS:
🎃Katrina Van Tassel. It’s the characters name in the lore, but Katrina is my daughter’s name and I hate it when a member of my family’s name is in a book.

When I found this book I squealed with excitement and dove right in. I wanted it like I want chocolate when I’m sad, and it did not disappoint!

Curses, rage, betrayal, forbidden love, and talking ghosts! Ahhh I loved it all. Honestly if you love any version of sleepy hollow (disney cartoon, movie, book) and you love spicy dark romance you have to read this book!

**I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

5 stars out of 5.
3 peppers out of 5 spice - Plot over spice.

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Dual POV/First Person

This story was such a fun read, and having read it on kindle, I'm tempted to get myself a physical copy to own. It was hard to put down and go to bed at a decent hour - in fact, my cat had to knock the kindle out of my hands so he'd get some more scratches while I was standing in the kitchen reading.

I love the authors writing style, it flows at the perfect pace, with enough details to immerse you while keeping the story moving forward. The characters make sense. Their feelings are conveyed beautifully, their motivations and actions make sense.

This story will probably be a re-read for me every Halloween. If you're looking for a spooky, spicy, Halloween-vibe story, I highly recommend giving this one a try. I already want to re-read it.

When Katalina tries to rid Sleepy Hollow of its legendary horseman, she doesn't realize her actions would only make him come after her. But he wants more than just her life. He kidnaps her to his realm to torture secrets from her, thinking to release himself from the curse. There's more to his story than Katalina ever expected and she finds herself more and more wanting to help him. Can she break the curse and release the man from the monster he's become?
I saw the arc for this and requested more out of curiosity than anything, especially since it's released shortly after Halloween. How do you fall in love with a monster with no head? One so morally black and bent on torture and destruction? But as I got more into the story, the reasons for his behavior become clear and I was rooting for her to save his tortured soul. The ending turned out even better than I expected! I look forward to more books by this author!

A twisted tale of the headless horseman that surprised me by taking me on this incredible journey that I thought I knew where it might go, but LOVED the shock and awe of the curves it threw my way. Just when you think you know the legend this author’s take on Sleepy Hollow was mesmerizing with the darkness that you dive into and yet with the hints of something more that brings light to that dark. I don’t want to give anything away because this book is an experience that the reader needs to just dive into and expect the unexpected. The characters have so much that they carry on their shoulders and a lot stacked against them ever being prosperous, but just when you think it’s the end you get slapped in the face with surprise after surprise. I enjoyed this dark take on this incredible tale and I think the author did a fantastic job putting their own spin on it. Will definitely be reading more from this author.

This was a first Killian Wolf book for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn’t even at the 50% mark when I got to a point where I didn’t want to put it down.
I found it a decent pace, it didn’t drag you along, and it didn’t rush to the end, as much as I wanted to finally get to the end of the story to see how it turned out!
As I was reading, like most people, I tried to figure out who the villain was in the story, and it was NOT who I was expecting. And then the reasoning behind this person’s actions? Not sure how I didn’t see that coming either. Throw in the accomplice? Well, that one didn’t surprise me, but that’s the person I thought was the villain, or at least behind it all.
All in all, a great book.
Highly recommend if you like the Sleep Hollow legend and some of the darker romance (although, that is not a big part of the book, but it is in there).

Of Headless Hollows is a slow-burn retelling of the classic Headless Horseman tale, with a fresh, creative twist. The story follows Katalina, who is taken by the Horseman, but soon learns that not everything is as it seems. The town's warped history and the fact that the Horseman has risen under a witch's command add layers of intrigue to the plot.

Katalina strikes a deal with the Horseman to help free him and save Sleepy Hollow, but as she works to unravel the mystery, her own magic grows, and her relationship with the Horseman evolves. The story masterfully balances suspense, romance, and supernatural elements, making for a captivating read.

Overall, Of Headless Hollows is a creatively crafted and atmospheric retelling with strong character development and a unique spin on a classic story. Fans of slow-burn plots and dark fantasy will enjoy this one!

I was so keen to get into this story and it didn’t disappoint. The characters were easy to enjoy and the enemies to lovers story was really well done. I do love a witchy curse and I enjoyed the way this story unfolded. I did guess early on who the culprit was but I doubted myself a few times.
I like how this addresses misogyny and the way women were treated but also the strength that women drew upon to survive.
The headless horseman curse and story was quite the adventure and the spice was spicing!!!
Overall I loved this book, I did feel in some parts it took a little long but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of this book.

I really liked this unique twist on a classic story. It was not the typical cast of characters that I grew up with in the story. Although, I like the tie into the original story. The story as a whole is what I enjoyed the most. The gothic vibe and the fact that I was engaged with the characters made this an intriguing read.

Fallon is on a mission to destroy everyone in his path. That is until he meets Katalina aka Kat. They shared an enemies to lovers vibe. Yet, their chemistry is not an instalove but a slow burn one. I liked this better as it felt more believable and real. Although, the romance is not the main focal point of the story and there are just a few quick, spicy scenes. The way Fallon and Kat's relationship progressed was nice.

This is the first book in the Van Tassel Witches series, and is a romantic retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. There are some violent scenes, so please do read the trigger warnings.

Initially, I found the writing hard hitting and punchy, and I felt there was a lot of suspense. I was scared, but I couldn't stop reading.

There were some spicy scenes, but I connected with the romantic element of the story too. I connected with Katalina, and I really liked how Fallon, and the character of the headless horseman, was brought to life in a whole new way. I did find this a very unique and interesting take on the original story.

I absolutely love retellings and this one was fantastic. Kat witnesses the headless horseman murder her father. In an attempt at vengeance, Kat and her friend team up to go after the horseman. But Kat ends up getting captured. While Fallon has her captive and is trying to pry information from her, we learn of his history and why he's here. The chemistry between them takes time to build, but it's there. When they give in to the tension, it's steamy. I didn't see the twist coming in this story and it caught me off guard. The story is pretty fast paced. I ended up finishing it the same day because I just couldn't put it down. It held my attention all the way through. If you like retellings, this is a definite add to tbr.

I read this whole book within a day. I actually came across it by accident. I was perusing the shelves at my local indie bookstore and saw the cover. Sleepy Hollow retelling? Say less.

The vibes in this book are perfect and definitely set the scene for the legend. I was immersed into the world of Sleepy Hollow and I didn’t want it to end. Think rainy, misty, spooky village vibes.

Kat is captured by the horseman but for some strange reason he isn’t able to k*ll her. But does he really want to? I enjoyed the pacing, the plot, and the spice. There are elements of the original story but also some fresh takes. We meet the horseman and get some back story and the way the curse enacts was clever.

I have also been told book 2 is coming! I can’t wait!

Of Headless Hollows is not only the first Killian Wolf book but also the first Headless Horseman reimagining I've read, and I'm so glad that I found it in my search for dark/Halloween-themed romances. The MCs are interesting and relatable (if unrealistic, for obvious reasons), while the plot and worldbuilding are fascinating and original (albeit based on an old story). I love how FMC Katalina and MMC Fallon, both fierce, independent, resourceful, and stubborn, come to depend on and fight for each other. Their complicated relationship delivers delicious enemies-to-allies-to-friends-to-lovers vibes and lots of slow-burn tension that leads to the perfect amount of steam and a well-deserved HEA. Given her ability for creative and riveting storytelling, I'm excited to read more of Killian's books in the future.

An enjoyable retelling.
This is my second retelling of a headless horseman's tale this fall. Both were well done, and I enjoyed them. In this one, it follows along some lines of the original with the Van Tassel Witches. But that is where things take another path in storytelling. The Headless Horseman, Fallon, is an Irish man, not a Hessian. This Irishman is out for revenge against the witch pulling his strings, but not all his deeds can be laid at the witch's feet. Kat, unfortunately, or fortunately as the case might be, is the one who pays his price. Expect some dark and spicy times as the two try to figure out who exactly is pulling his strings.

At the very beginning I struggled a little bit with the writing style (could be my personal preference) for example it’s written like “I stand up and grab my coat and walk to the kitchen” when in my mind I kept trying to fix it and read it differently “I stood up and grabbed my coat and walked to the kitchen”

Everything else was absolutely amazing, the plot was very very well thought out and I honestly couldn’t put it down. It was nicely paced and the spice was also really good! I would definitely read more books from Killian :)

It was Halloween, and as I love the Headless Horseman stories, I could not resist this hot, sexy reimagining by Killian Wolf. It was awesome!

I loved everything about this book, all the hot, sexy bits, whew! I adored the characters! Our Hessian is dark as sin! He's a murderer! But, of course, he is mostly controlled by another to do said killing. Katalina is smart, sassy, and braver than is expected. And, best of all, a real plot! There are several twists and turns which kept me guessing until the end! Wonderful, wonderful!

The story of the headless horseman has always been one that's fascinated me and so when this came across my screen I just had to read it and I was not disappointed. I think Killian Wolf did a fantastic job of weaving in tried and true parts of the story while also making it her own.

Both MC's are fiercely independent and strong in their own right. Enemies to lovers with a slow burn. Definitely recommend this book for those looking for a spooky yet spicy retelling of Sleepy Hollow.

I love that the story continues after what we know of as 'the Headless Horseman'. It's dark, in various ways, pls read the TW if you need them, but it's not garish or grossly outright. The fast pace kept me hooked, with realistic twists and turns as our MCs battle it out.

The. Spice. Be. Spicy! If you're at all even a little twisted like me, go for it. ;)

A fun retelling but the pacing and writing was so strange, particularly in the first 30% of the book. The characters all felt a bit juvenile with little character development and gaps in the storyline. However, it was very atmospheric and I loved the general idea of the whole retelling. Another 50 pages or so to fill in the gaps, develop the story a bit better and this would have been a 4+ star read.
