Gertty Rudraw is an indie romance author who has taken the genre by storm with her popular series. She writes both contemporary and paranormal page-turning romances . Readers consume faster than she can produce. And you will be pretty happy about that!
She lives with her husband and two awesome sons in Sedona, enjoying plenty of farm animals, and devotes her life to writing stories. If you are looking for romantic books with alpha heroes who have to contend with sassy heroines then you might just love Gertty’s novels.
There’s a lot of unaddressed misogyny in this book. Leilani’s reputation is ruined when an edited nude orgy photo is released of her. No one asks her for the truth, she’s just immediately turned on by her entire pack for being a whore. Her father denounces her and tries to force her to marry an old man with six dead wives. Meanwhile, Chris is having affairs with everyone she knows, and that’s fine. Women can’t lead packs. In Leilani’s pack, they don’t go to school or get educated. She still thinks her father is amazing, despite all of this.
There are also a lot of plot holes…
There’s a weird moment where Asher doesn’t kill Christian because the only time he can legally kill someone is in a duel. But Christian is in Asher’s territory trying to rip out Talon’s heart and attacking Asher. Who made this law? Who enforces it? Why would he not be allowed to kill someone in self defense?
Leilani’s wolf is inexplicably absent whenever she needs it. The mating bond also works or doesn’t work without any rhyme or reason.
No one shifts in this book. Does it even count as a shifter book if there are no wolves?
Christian rejects Leilani for no apparent reason, then spends the rest of the book chasing her. We never find out why.
Anyway… it’s an ok book. Very soap-opera ish. I think all the plot holes and lack of actual shifter lore spoils it.
Good read apart from that one tiny flaw ** SPOILERS BELOW **
This is a very classic case of enemies to lovers, it’s a bit confusing at times. I absolutely hate leaving reviews with any spoilers but this calls for it. The confusion is based on the MMC’s change in behaviour, all of a sudden he doesn’t hate her as much as he did before. Everyone else around her appears to hate her, obvious scorn and derisive laughter. She’s understandably defensive about it. He won’t let her have any alcohol (her poor coping mechanism) and calls her out on getting to know his people. Why should she try when they clearly don’t want to know her?
The other point feels horribly pedantic (and probably is) but how does a female “go into heat” when they’re already pregnant??? In canines it’s impossible to go into heat whilst already pregnant. In humans, superfetation is so rare that it makes headline news when confirmed. It’s the bizarre phenomenon of getting pregnant whilst already being pregnant.
The story is about a non existent supernatural species, surely it’s better to set the stage and explain what passes for normal by detailing the entire process beforehand? Or drop consistent subtle references. Alternatively, take the easy route and just blame an increased libido on pregnancy. Slightly annoyed at being pedantic. Ignore those two points and the rest is basically golden.
They talk about some scenes towards the 60% mark that I feel like should have been included in the book because they seemed important parts of the FMCs development (like actually talking with her fellow pack members, acting like she wants to be luna oh and attacking a whole girl). Plus I kinda think they flip floped a few times literally right after they shared *moments* together from love to hate but for what reason lol.

~ rejected mate ~ enemies to lovers ~ second chance mate ~ forced marking
⚠️ miscarriage, cheating (not between the H and h), physical abuse, dubcon
There’s lots to like here- drama, angst, a good villain and a good anti hero. The heroine has a backbone but does succumb to BBS from the bond. The steam was really good, I connected with the characters and because I’m a bleeding heart even could see some things from the villains pov and felt bad for the psycho. There’s complexity to everyones story, the author isn’t pulling punches.
Unfortunately there’s so much confusion regarding bonding…it doesn’t seem to matter much so why bother? Everyone cheats. Sometimes it’s felt and sometimes it’s not. Although this time the rejected mate got to feel it too! Someone can have two bites at a time. There’s a scene missing around 60%…a confrontation between the ow and h that we hear about after but never actually happens.
The heroine only ever gets to experience her 2 fated mates while each of them get to have multiple partners. 🫠
The Hero Asher gives me whiplash but he’s the typical damaged dark alpha.
My biggest issue was the rejection itself. Chris didn’t have to reject the heroine, in fact it didn’t make sense that he did because he was so possessive and “in love” with her. He could have put the ow as Luna without the rejection. As the catalyst for the story it didn’t track.
I have a ton of notes and most are spoilers so skip them if you want to go in blind. I know this review jumps around but it’s late, sorry! It kept me engaged until the end.

I liked this book. This author does have a good writing style and voice that keeps me in the story and doesn't feel like a middle schooler wrote it. That being said, there were so many issues with this book, too.
First, there were editing issues everywhere. Words missing all over the place and missing or extra punctuations. I found a random extra line with just the letter W in there for no reason.
There wasn't enough world-building here. We keep hearing about their wolves, but literally nobody shifts in the whole book. The structure and hierarchy isn't explained, either. What does the council do and why is it important? Who makes and enforces their laws between packs?
For being a non-shifting shifter book, why was is Leilani had so many issues connecting with her wolf? At that point, why did it even matter enough to mention it in the book?
I would possibly read and recommend this book if there weren't so many questions left unanswered. As it is, no. I don't think I would.
Theron & Seren: WOW, I loved this concept. It's so different from the typical paranormal romance. There's no insta romance however the heat does begin to boil over pretty quick. It's a second chance romance and there's some angst. Seren, at first felt like she was going to be the typical human mate to the alpha shifter but we get a chance to watch her grow as a person before becoming a mate. It was very empowering. The author also doesn't make the alpha the hero that knows everything and is always right. He gets a valuable lesson as well. I enjoyed seeing that the alpha's wolf was also a character within the story and he also has the opportunity to merge into human form and show his undying devotion for his mate. So good. Loved it.
Christian is the heroine’s mate, but he’s an unbelievable disappointment. The betrayal is strong in this man, and he rejects her for the best friend. Why is it always the best friend who turns out to be a jealous biotch? And who always eff’s the supposed mate behind her back?
The new Alpha shows up and grabs our heroine, eventually marking her…
I like this one better than the first book. Mainly because the betrayers actually got what was coming to them. Kind of rare when it shouldn’t be, since these are werewolves and they do understand revenge.
KU read, and I’ll look at the next in the series. This author has some great ideas…
Why is it ALWAYS a miniature red head? The high school mean girl who became my nemesis was a red head. every book I seem to read had the desirable MC a short red haired beauty. I am tall and brown haired. No man lusts after me in books. The men are all tall and muscular. Their hair and eyes can be any color but short men need not apply. How sad for tall ladies or short men. Curvaceous women are desirable but rounded men are frowned upon. This book follows the perimeters of the norm. Violence and sex.
The storyline and characters were there, and they were what made this 3.5 stars for me, but the typos and plot holes kept it from being a solid 4. Some things stayed with me through the whole book, nagging at me. Like how she felt her ex with someone else after she left the pack, but never before that when they were still in a relationship? I think this just needed a good editing.
This took my a few chapters to really getting into so put it down a bit but that might have been because I just finished a larger series. Once I got into it I stayed up until the sun came up to finish it :). Loved it - their story, the plot - all of it was great read.
It is a HEA but there is cheating. The spice was well done - love a bit of hate s$x - he is definitely no cinnamon roll in that respect!
I feel like I missed a part because they went from hating each other to him being obsessed with her in like a chapter lol. Could of used another 100 pages or so but either way was a good plot, loved the characters, it's always a compliment to want more content !!!!
I have many thoughts about this book. Mostly the audacity of Leilani's family and the craziness of her friends. I felt like when the fates smiled on her again was the best thing for her. She deserved every happiness and someone to love her like their next breath.
✅Enemies to lovers ✅Fated mates ✅Rejected mate ✅Second chance mate
Lei catches her mate Christian with her best friend Georgia. Which leads her into the arms of Asher…the alpha of the enemy
All I’m gonna say is that Christian is a total tool bag and Georgia is a piss poor best friends but let’s talk about the scenes between Asher and Lei 🔥🔥🔥
The book provided a moderately engaging reading experience, but it fell short of being truly exceptional. While the narrative had some interesting elements, it did not fully captivate or leave a lasting impression, making it a somewhat average literary work that did not stand out among other books in its genre.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I was consumed by this book from the very beginning. It had all the feels for me. At times it's like a crazy rollercoaster ride and the suspense is intense. At times I had tears running down my face an at times I just felt jittery from the excitement. There are moments that left me thinking HOLY S**T! I did not see that coming. There's romance and lots of smokin hot sex scenes. I'm talking off the charts smokin hot. Lol. The Author's descriptions of the characters makes it easy to visualize them. Asher sound like a Greek God and Leilani like a sassy little spitfire. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Loved every single word of this story. The twists and turns and action keeps you reading just to find out more. I love how they hated each other and the love they had came out in every action they took. I will definitely be reading the next book.
I never like to review unless is a GREAT book. This is one of those books. The story was beautiful and the ups and downs had goosebumps crawling down my arm. Have a tissue ready. Definitely will recommend.
I'm not one for supernatural books but this one is one of the best BOOKS I've read in awhile. Great story. Some crazy characters and lots of violence but a very good story and well written.
Another well written story! This had lots of action and kept me flipping pages. Leilani and Asher were so good together even though they couldn't stand each other at first. i
This story was so moving, exciting, entertaining and just WOW!!!. I was soooo happy that they both got out of this alive and together☺️. Gertty is a PHENOMENAL storyteller and writer!!.
