Is there going to be a war? War is surely upon us! Or maybe it isn’t? There are strange events unfolding around the small principality of Liechtenstein. It seems to have its fair share of enemies, and there has been an invasion, but war hasn’t been declared…
That’s politics for you, however. It has its own laws. But for Theodore the Babylonian, this can mean only one thing. It’s time to speed up my own development, mobilize all my forces, and show my enemies that they shouldn’t have attacked the country that I’ve come to call home. My new home…
It's very obvious that the author knows nothing about helicopters and very little to nothing about combat in general. The described damage would have forced two different helicopters to crash regardless of how good the pilots are. In hand to hand combat nobody would be throwing away their weapon, especially a sword. Not just once but twice. Also two different types of swords. A cutless and a short sword. Both times these thrown swords managed to kill enemies. This was done by a soldier that is supposed to be extremely skilled and with years of service. Any skilled soldier will tell you never throw your melee weapon. Swords aren't meant to be thrown. Still, despite these flaws and the seeming need for everyone to have not just a silly nickname but a stupid one I still enjoy the series.
4.5/10 Yes this review is based off of the ARC I received.
The series is very good, it's also very entertaining and well written. Honestly my only problem with the series is the MC. The MC is written like he's some secret bad a** unfortunately though he's always reactive. He always gets mad and has these thoughts about i have to protect what's mine and the people I care about and then just sits on his a** until the danger is on his doorstep. He knows who his enemies are but never goes after them even though he could easily get away with making them disappear without a trace. Sure he handles what comes at him but for someone who gripes about the people he cares about being put in danger he certainly puts them at risk himself often enough. It's just comes off as contradictory and lazy. But otherwise the series is great.
Wow, things are happening in this book. We don't actually know just how devious the main character is yet, since the book ends before the full extent of his trickory is revealed, but that just makes waiting for the next book a whole lot better. We do see various attempts to force war on his home, and even more attempts to take him down, none of which succeed of course, but if you've been waiting for things to take off in a big way in this series, I'd say it's here, and that should make the next few books extremely interesting. Looking forward to more in this series.
In this book were some rather absurd battles, including thrown swords and sheer indestructible helicopters. The MC once again stuns everyone with his ridiculously strong powers. In fact, the powers he showed bordered on parody.
Besides the fights not much interesting happened. Just a sale, that showed once again how amazing the MC is, comes to mind.
Sadly, the parents and their "cunning plan" were absent. They always are great comedic relief.
The story that just keeps on getting better and more intriguing the longer you read. War has started, Theo is surrounded by an ever growing list of enemies but no matter how often enemies throw grenades at him he keeps on getting back up and hitting back stronger
This installment was good. Theodore continues to rebuild his family dynasty, kill Shadows, train others to their full potential. Great planning in all things. I felt this book was good; yet it is probably a build up, precursor to bigger things ahead. I just don’t know what those things are.
Feels rushed with unnecessary flaws with the authors indulging in an absurd amount of nonsensical/illogical asspulls.
Story/plot chronology is poor.. No not poor is utter crap really. Chapter 4 and I am considering if this series/story and the supposed authors aren't just a total No Go.
Gah.. Figure I will just shelve this for now.. Sad stuff. Hopes for better.. just dashed.
As the title states it's far to short a novel for it's price. Nothing ground breaking here, just some good characters and some above average expository story telling. Worth it if you don't mind the poor cost to value ratio.
This is an action packed installment in the series. There are higher level opponents in politically important positions who are now focused on the Babylonian and scheming specifically to take him down
I think every reader needs to start doing this to force authors to write a quick Recap chapter, which readers can skip if they remember, and those who don't won't stop reading the series.
The Ivanov are still around just at a commission for now. And now he's an enemy apparently with the prince and he says I'm going to take care of them and that's probably going to take around another six books and I won't actually get rid of them
I love this universe that exists for this series. The characters and action have me reading the book very fast. I wish the series was available in its entirety as I currently have to wait before my next fix.
