Several months after the London season comes to an end, Anabel and Lord St Germain are once more thrust together at a house party he’s hosting, very much against his will.
For him, it’s a burden—another responsibility set upon his shoulders, never mind he hasn’t been to the house in twenty years because it’s haunted. For her, the party is torture—being under the same roof as the man she’s loved since childhood and can never be with.
If there’s a silver lining to the house party for Anabel, it’s that the gothic manor is bursting at the seams with secrets and intrigue, something to keep her mind and traitorous heart distracted. That, and her surprising discovery St Germain is skittish, of all things.
Almost as soon as St Germain arrives, he hears things that go bump in the night, objects begin to disappear from guests’ rooms, and Anabel Boyton, the lady who’s existed in his periphery forever, has taken to tormenting him for her own delight every chance she gets.
But when curiosity gets the best of Anabel, leaving her in a dangerous situation from which she can’t escape, will St Germain rescue her in time or lose the woman he loves just as he’s discovered that she's the one for him?You met Anabel and St Germain in Painting the Duke. Find out if they get their own happily ever after in Haunting the Earl.
What a delightful, beautiful story this was! Haunting the Earl reintroduces us to Anabel and St. Germain (Saint), who were secondary characters in Georgina North's previous book. Though this book stands alone, it's even more lovely if you remember the characters from before.
The first third of the book establishes Saint's family home as a place he loathes because it reminds him of his final days with his father. We also get to see Anabel at home, where her mother treats her abominably because of what the modern reader will recognize as dyslexia. Anabel's longing for Saint makes you sympathetic and root for her. Actually, getting her away from her mother in any way possible would be nice! Bonus: Pip, a cute and mysterious kitten joins the cast.
We we move into the phase where Anabel and St. Germain are in closer proximity, there are wonderful steps forward that are immediately followed by a step back. You know where we're headed, but the path to happily ever after is definitely not smooth and there will be many moments where you think Anabel and Saint are finally getting together, but it doesn't happen. The reader feels the angst along with the characters when their private moments are interrupted.
Of course, we get a satisfying conclusion with a happily ever after.
We get to see the characters from Painting the Duke briefly in this, which was a nice nod to readers who have read Georgina North's other books.
Anabel and Saint were both interesting characters with unique qualities and fears. I was immediately drawn to the story because of them and I really enjoyed the chemistry between them.
The book had a general sense of mystery and magic to it that I also quite enjoyed and, although the author kept it more on the realistic side of things, it had a good balance between fantasy and reality. But I still would've liked that aspect of it to be explored a little more.
Once more, Georgina North's writing was light and engaging and she delivered a fun, interesting and romantic story that I think most fans of historical romance will enjoy!

Thanks to Booksprout for a copy of this ebook and this is my freely given opinion.
This is a story that I found myself loving more than I expected, considering this story featured secondary characters from previous books. But it did have some lovely themes that I adore, such as secret childhood crush, secret vulnerabilities being revealed, a hint of the gothic, and a bit of forced proximity in the form of a house party set in a gothic, reputedly haunted old manor house.
Lord Valentine St. Germain is haunted in many ways, by his past, his memories, his family. He is forced to confront many of these when his family insists on having a house party at one his more notorious estates before he sells it. His meddling sisters have far fonder memories of it than he does, and they want one last hurrah before saying good bye to it, and it would also be a good opportunity to perhaps introduce their single brother to some eligible misses.
Saint however does not have the fond memories of the old pile that his sisters have. As the heir, he faced a lot more pressure from his father than they did, and memories of this, and witnessing his father's death at this estate, when Saint was just a child, weigh heavy on him. In addition to this, the estate has a bit of a notorious history as well, being the site of the mysterious disappearance of a peer. His aloof, noble mien hides a great deal of insecurity and anxiety about his past and his ability to live up to his father's and family's expectations.
To make things tolerable, Saint invites his old friend, and said friend's sister, whom he also had a friendship with with they were children, Anabel Boynton. Anabel is a sociable, mischievous, chatterbox, but this is also a facade to keep others at bay because her mother and family have convinced Anabel that she is lacking in her ability to attract a man, and be a proper wife, because she is dyslexic - which others who are aware of this interpret as Anabel being lacking in ability and intelligence. She has loved Saint from afar for years, but knows he has never noticed her beyond being friendly to his friend's younger sister, and even if he did somehow become aware of her, she would never be suitable as a countess, because of her impediment.
Regardless, she finds herself at the house party and is determined to enjoy herself, and that includes trying to solve the mystery of the disappearance from years ago. She and Saint find themselves over and over in each other's presence, with Anabel caught between the agony and ecstasy of being with him, but not being worthy of his attentions, and Saint coming to realize how attractive Anabel is and how much he likes the warm, sweet, curious person she is. Their intimacy grows as they share much with each other. I love their growing closeness and the wonderful shared dialogue and banter they have. They growing relationship is warm and lovely to witness in the reading as they grow closer and share their vulnerabilities with each other.
A sweet, lovely growing relationship between two friends who renew and grow their friendship. Saint, when he realizes Anabel's anxiety and insecurities about her inability, is so very loving and supportive. I love their friends to lovers dynamic.
Since discovering Painting the Duke a couple of years ago, Georgina North has been on my auto-buy list of authors. She is a talented storyteller, and her ability to draw readers into her novels without any gimmicks or shortcuts makes her books deeply satisfying. Haunting the Earl is no exception.
Set primarily at a house party in the English countryside, it narrates the story of Valentine (Saint) Lord St. Germain (who inherited his earldom at the age of nine) and his friend’s younger sister, Anabel Boynton. Both Saint and Anabel are of marriageable age and have known each other for many years. However, Saint is insecure, and Anabel feels unworthy due to her dyslexia (how will she be able to run a household if she cannot read?). Both characters bear scars from their upbringings, leading to self-doubt.
Saint’s older sister coerces him into hosting a house party at one of the family estates, Sylvancliffe, despite his fear of the place. Saint’s father died in this house, a woman disappeared, and Saint is convinced that it is haunted. Anabel, who uses being a chatterbox and trickster as armour to keep people at a distance, enjoys teasing Saint about his skittishness; this results in some great comic moments in the novel. However, the main story revolves around Anabel’s tendre for Saint, which she has harboured since her childhood, and Saint’s dawning recognition that Anabel is the woman he wishes to marry.
What I loved about this novel was the slow burn between Anabel and Saint. Although Saint endeavours to show Anabel how he feels, she is too insecure to believe he desires anything more than friendship. However, Anabel is not a shy and retiring wallflower. On the contrary, she is a vivacious and witty woman. The witty banter and sparks between these two keep the story sizzling. While less steamy than the earlier novels in this series, Haunting the Earl compensates through the yearning and discussions between the main characters, showcasing their compatibility, turbulent emotions, and how right they are for each other.
The secondary characters, especially Glassbrook and Pip (the rescued kitten), add depth to the story. One gets a sense of what an actual house party would feel like, and it is delightful to see the side stories woven into the action. The gothic elements introduce some suspense and spooky vibes without overshadowing the main character focus of the novel. It is my favourite kind of read.
North writes beautifully, and I highlighted numerous passages; I particularly loved a poem that is part of Saint’s discovery in the house. Although this novel possesses a more meditative tone and pace, it is engrossing and entertaining. It is gratifying to read such a well-thought-out and executed romance. I also loved the epilogue! While this novel is connected to the first book, it can easily be read as a standalone. However, Painting the Duke is my favourite so far and well worth a read. I loved seeing Vivienne and Brick make an appearance here! Overall, I highly recommend this novel!

I enjoyed this brother’s friend, childhood crush romance. I'm not usually a big fan of house party tropes, but the side characters were all very likable and homogenous, and the gothic vibes added suspense and mystery to the story. Saint and Annabel are endearing protagonists who both suffer greatly from their insecurities and 'inadequacies' and deal with them in different ways. The chemistry between them is strong and sizzles from the beginning. I liked how after Annabel's initial teasing and their secrets, they came together, built each other up and supported each other.
Valentine „Saint“ Ainsley, Earl of St Germain, has always been terrified by his family estate Sylvancliffe. His childhood ghostly fantasies, the death of his father, the pressure of having to grow up early and his feeling of not being good enough have always been associated with this place. He therefore decides to sell the scandalized and mysterious estate. However, when his older sister finds out about his plans, she persuades Saint to organise one last house party and, reluctantly and in a panic, he agrees. Since childhood, Annabel Boyton has been considered dumb by her relatives because of her reading difficulties, which she compensates for with gossip, her eloquence and curiosity, even if she is ashamed and loathes herself for it. She knows that she will never be able to take on the duties of a wife or mother and must hide her flaw from society. When she is invited to Saint's house party with her brother, she is less than thrilled as she will struggle to keep her secret disability from the other guests, even though she is secretly excited to get to the bottom of the infamous estate’s secrets. Annabel has been in love with Saint, her brother's friend, since she was little, but until now he has only ever seen her as his friend's little sister. Surprisingly, this changes at the house party and they get closer. But Saint is afraid of failing and Annabel knows that she can never marry him...
Overall, a captivating story with endearing characters, a touch of suspense and some steam, that I‘m happy to recommend!

In "Painting the Duke," we're introduced to Anabel and St. Germain, whose paths cross again at a house party, sparking a reunion fraught with unspoken emotions. Despite her yearning to see Saint, Anabel is painfully aware that their love is seemingly impossible. Meanwhile, Saint grapples with the weight of his duties, contemplating the sale of a long-abandoned, haunted property that holds unwelcome memories.
From their initial encounter at the gathering, the palpable chemistry between them is captivating. Saint is jittery and on edge, while Anabel playfully engages him with good natured teasing. The author masterfully crafts their personalities, portraying two individuals wrestling with their inner demons. Saint's lingering childhood anxieties contrast with Anabel's struggle with reading, a challenge that her family has unfairly stigmatized, causing her to hide what she perceives as a flaw.
Their interactions are a joy to witness. As their relationship deepens beyond friendship, Anabel hesitates due to her literacy difficulties. Their journey is filled with both turmoil and tenderness, culminating in Anabel's emotional confession of her struggles to Saint, who responds with empathy and support.
The narrative is filled with ups and downs, leaving me unsure if the couple would truly find happiness together. Yet, Pip, a charming little black kitten, seems to root for their union, adding a delightful touch to the story.
The author's writing style is vivid and immersive, skillfully weaving complex emotions and character dynamics into a compelling narrative. The blend of tension and tenderness kept me engaged, while moments of levity, such as the antics of Pip, provide warmth and charm. The conclusion of Anabel and Saint's story is a testament to love's resilience, leaving me with a hopeful outlook and a sense of fulfillment.

“Haunting The Earl” by Georgina North is such a fun and charming story.
It reintroduces us to Anabel and Saint, who were secondary characters in the author's previous book “Painting The Duke”.
Lord St. Germain (Saint) and Anabel Boynton, his friend’s younger sister. Both are endearing and relatable. Both struggle with insecurities and self-worth. Anabel due to her reading difficulties and Saint due to the pressure of having to grow up early and his feeling of not being good enough.
Saint has always loathed his family estate, Sylvancliffe, because it reminds him of his final days with his father. He thinks it’s haunted. But when he decides to sell the house, his older sister presses him to host a final house party.
Anabel’s mischievous personality shines, she draws St. Germain out of his shell and they get to know each other on a deeper level. It’s a slow burn at its best, but the witty banter and the chemistry between Saint and Anabel keep the story sizzling.
Georgina North has a smooth writing style and does a great job developing the MCs and bringing the story to life with great secondary characters, especially Mr. Glassbrook and Pip (the rescued kitten), who add depth to the story.
The storyline flowed smoothly and the gothic elements introduce some suspense and spooky vibes that kept me turning the pages anxious to see what would happen next.
A really enjoyable and entertaining story that had me captivated till the very end. This book will pull you right in and keep you engaged and smiling all the way through.
I enjoyed “Haunting The Earl”, and I would definitely recommend to all fans of Historical Romance who love some mystery with their romance.
This is the second book I’ve read by the fabulous Ms. Georgina North. I loved this book and I think I even liked it better than the previous book I read from her. And now I want to read the book I missed inbetween!
Sylvancliffe is a house of many mysteries, located in Norfolk, and Saint is haunted by his father’s death which occurred in Saint’s presence at this location. Saint finds a buyer for the house, but his sister, Franny is mortified, and convinces Saint to have one last, lavish, weekend-long, party. As the guests arrive, Saint believes this party won’t change anything, but the arrival of his friend’s little sister, Anabel, turns his world upside down. Anabel is all grown up, with an incredible personality, and enthralled with solving the mysterious disappearance of a former friend of Saint’s father, Lady Cecilia Walker. As they begin to unravel Lady Cecilia’s disappearance, more mysteries abound. Will the quest to solve these mysteries draw them closer together, or end up leaving them feeling haunted?

For the last year, I’ve been hyperfocused on Romantasy, but this year, one of my resolutions was to get back into my first love, historical romance. Ms. Georgina, I loved this book! I loved Anabel, her personality, and her constant curious nature. I also loved Saint, but I think I like the name Valentine better! I’m so looking forward to reading Painting the Duke and to see what you come up with next! Thank you for reminding me why I love historical romance!
I just needed to carry onto North’s next book to learn the outcome for Saint and Anabel, and I was not disappointed.
The MC’s Saint and Anabel, the closest friends of the protagonists of Painting the Duke, have long been in each others world given their place in the British social scene of the time and because Saint is good friends with Ana’s older brother.
Since childhood Ana has been in love with Saint, but never believed she would ever have a chance to become his wife. Partly due to her learning complications but mostly because her family deemed her less than as a result of her struggles to read as others do. Therefore concluding that she was not capable.
Saint has long suffered the weight of his title and the childhood memories that haunt him, especially the loss of his father at a young age. Finally reaching the decision to sell off one of the family estates as it has haunted him for years, his sister convinces him to host one last house party in farewell.
The more intimate proximity and extended amount of time in each other’s company, has Anabel being present to Saint in a new light…one the hits him quickly and with great feeling.
Throughout the book we see Ana struggle to realize she is good enough and for Saint to overcome his past demons. Together they have many amusing mishaps that just add to their connection and bond, the opening up of secrets and sharing of intimate truths.
Loved this book too, I really enjoy North’s writing and her approach to historical romances. Some can be daunting or eye roll inducing…hers have the cozy approach that is both endearing and rewarding.
Haunting the Earl by Georgina North is an appealing story that touches the heart.
It is set at a house party hosted by our male main character, Lord St. Germain, who invites close friends and relatives to celebrate the impending sale of a family estate. St. Germain is eager to rid himself of the property because of his haunting memories of his younger life there.
Anabel Boyton is invited due to her older brother's friendship with St Germain. She has worshiped him from afar and often gets lost in thoughts of what could be between the two. Anabel's undaunted curiosity is a curse and a blessing as it brings personal danger and emotional encounters.
The estate has bumps in the night, unaccountable loss of personal items, and haunted ruins on the estate's grounds. Add to that, the unresolved disappearance of Lady Cecelia still discussed in the present day and we have the makings of a proper gothic mystery.
However, it is more! It is a sweet tale of how two people fight through anxieties, insecurities and society's expectations to discover their love for one another. St Germain discovers Anabel's hidden shame, and she helps him face his deepest fears. It is a beautifully written story filled with twists, turns, disappointments and hope. I enjoyed reading Haunting the Earl.

2.5 stars I was really quite disappointed in this book because I felt like it could have been much better. The author clearly has good writing skills and is capable of crafting some really witty banter. My annoyances with the book are as follows: 1. It was quite slow moving. There really isn't much going on plot-wise. 2. Why would the hero suddenly and miraculously discover that he is completely and wholeheartedly attracted to someone he has known for a long time, and has interacted with many times in the past? 3. I found Anabel's character rather immature. In the interest of showing her "fun-loving" nature, the author made her a tease--and she teases the hero about something that he is supposed to be terrified of, and yet, he just loves her for it. Oh, and she starts a food fight... 4. When was the last time you saw an adult pinch the bridge of their nose while annoyed or frustrated, or the last time you saw an adult stick their tongue out of the side of their mouth while they were concentrating on something? I admit I find these stereotypical behaviors really annoying. 5. The resolution of the Lady Cecilia mystery is completely unbelievable. Her aunt should have known where to look for clues as to her disappearance. Anyhow, just my take on why my rating is lower than so many other folks' rating.
This utterly romantic story set on a picturesque haunted house with secret passages and secret truths was a dream to read. The main two characters Ana and Valentine really stuck out for their unique situations and problems they face throughout the book.
The pair of them had wonderful chemistry, and while she has loved him her whole life, their forced proximity really allows him time to naturally see her for who she is and begin to fall for her in a way that is not rushed but entertainingly drifts from confusion, to curiosity, to intrigue to adoration in the best way.
Pip was of course the MPV, and the cast of side characters produced a fun environment and some hilarious interruptions as well as some excellent telling of ghost stories. The focus of course is the couple, but I had just as much fun with the cozy mystery of the house and a fantastic wingman on Ana’s side who knew exactly what to do to trigger jealousy. Overall a wonderful read with some very nice spice scenes sprinkled in!
Extremely well written with lots of excitement , drama, love, romance, ghosts, mysteries, emotions and twists. Lady Anabel has a slight problem that she can't figure out. She has trouble reading the words as they just keep changing on her. So when pushed into society, she knows that she can never accept a proposal as she has doesn't have what is needed to be the lady of the house. Her brother, Freddy and her were invited to Saint's home for a fall get together before he sells it. Saint- Valentine hates that house thinking it's haunted. Once everyone is there , they can hear the house groan and creak as always, making Saint feel that it is haunted. He really hates this house. There is also a missing lady who disappeared during a party from there. Has lots of action to keep you reading, not being able to put it down till the end. These characters are remarkable, witty, fun with so much personal growth. Absolutely the best story. Would recommend to everyone.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.
There was a suggestion of some paranormal content in the synopsis for this title but I felt it was very much in the background and didn't really feel it developed into an important part of the story.
However that wasn't really important to me. What I really loved about the story was the very real love between Saint and Anabel, two people with issues that today can be addressed but back then were considered shameful disabilities, to be hidden away. I found Anabel particularly well written, beautiful, witty, and obviously intelligent - yet believing she could never marry because she would be unable to fulfil her duties as a wife in the sphere she was born into. Saint, the male main character, would not give up on her and, when she finally confesses, immediately sets out to help her.
Overall I simply loved this book. The only reason it is missing a star is that although I found it pretty well written, there were several occasions that I was pulled out of the story by the use of modern phrases and expressions. I would also have liked even more of Pip the cat (maybe that's just me)

Lord Valentine St. Germain is hosting a house party at an estate he plans to sell. The house is haunted and has haunted him for the last 20 years. Anabel Boynton has been in love with Saint for years, but he only sees her as his best friend’s little sister. She has been belittled and told she will never be fit to marry, because of difficulties now recognized as dyslexia.
Another original plot from Ms. North, an engaging and emotional story, with wonderful and realistic characters, lots of secrets, and a bit of humor. I loved the gothic elements, Saint was truly haunted, and the growing relationship between the lead characters was delightful to read. Very atmospheric, both Anabel and Saint have secrets and very realistic fears that they must overcome. I didn’t get his initial attraction to her, but the rest of the story was very well done. Several months after the London season comes to an end, Anabel Boyton and Valentine (Saint),Lord St Germain find themselves together at a house party that St Germain is reluctantly hosting. For him, it is not only a burden but a house that is haunted. For Anabel, she is forced to be with the man she has loved since childhood when he was her brother’s friend, but she believes that due to her dyslexia, she is not suitable as a wife. Yet they find themselves, thrown together as the party unfolds. I enjoyed this romance, which slowly burns bright from a friendship to a wonderful romance. I loved Anabel’s wit and enjoyed seeing Saint fall for Anabel, seeing her for the delight that she is. There is plenty of tension between the couple, but it is balanced by the affection that they try to hide from each other. When I read the blurb on this story, it called to me and didn’t disappoint! I adored Annabel and her feisty spirit to search for a woman missing for. 20 years. I hurt for Saint as he dealt with being an Earl way too early in his life. The author has a very fine imagination and weaves a tale both touching and interesting. Pip is adorable and the secondary characters are well developed. I adored Mr Glassbrook and his charming way of helping Annabel . Truly a wonderful story that has the reader giggling, sighing, fretful and loving. The chemistry between them grows stronger with each page and leaves you wanting more! I especially enjoyed the author’s bent on Anabel’s issue and the research that must have gone into it was well done.

I have so enjoyed reading Anabel and Saint’s journey to joint happiness. This is, without doubt, Georgina North’s best work to date.
Clever, unloved, dyslexic Anabel, who has loved Saint forever, unwillingly attends the last party at his country home before it is sold. Saint is haunted by the ghost of his dead father in this place. There are mysteries to unfold. Their internal dialogues revealing his guilt, her shame, lead the reader to understand the depths of their emotion and pain. Their teasing and mishaps leading to their growing love are a twinkling joy. I need to make apple pie now. Saint’s father’s poem, undiscovered for 20 years, moved me to tears.
It’s an engaging and poignant story and I’m so glad to have read it. These characters will stay with me.
I received an ARC of this book and provide this review unpaid.
This book combined two of my favorite tropes: a house party and brother's best friend. Saint and Anabel were both very likeable characters and down to earth. They each have their own issues and challenges to overcome. Saint experiences anxiety stemming from his childhood and he doesn't look forward to visiting the house that he hasn't been in the last 20 years. Anabel has a reading disorder that she feels she has to hide from everyone because of the stigma.
I just wanted to hug them both. I also wanted to give the Very Good Kitten, Pip, a big ole smoocher because she ends up saving Anabel's life.
The scene where Anabel reveals to Saint that she has difficulty reading was very powerful. Thank you for giving us Anabel and Saint's story! Also, thank you to the author for for the gift of this great book. Opinions are my own.
Anabel has pined for St. Germain since she was a young girl but to St. Germain, she has always been his best friend’s little sister. When St. Germain is forced to host a party before selling the family home, he invites Anabel’s brother and much to her shock, she is included. What starts as an adventure for Anabel to explore a well known haunted house and spend time with St. Germain, turns into St. Germain realizing what a treasure Anabel is. Anabel’s mischievous personality shines, she draws St. Germain out of his shell and they get to know each other on a deeper level. The hauntings persist, but while trying to solve them, will they both be vulnerable enough with each other to find their happiness together? Another great read from Georgina North, along with appearances of characters from interconnected books.
Georgina North is a new to me author right now but I plan on reading the rest of her catalog because WOW!
Her writing is a notch or two above the typical romance author, she really invests in writing with beautiful prose and original poetry!
This book kept me up into the wee hours of the night and I had the hardest time saying goodbye to the characters when the story ended, I just wanted to go on and on!
Her writing pulls you in and allows you to feel the characters angst (low stress) and attractions and later love!!
There was intrigue and a hidden passage way and final awareness of feelings and someone carrying a long burning candle for someone else.
I won’t spoil the story for you but tell you that this a MUST READ!!

How fun to see Anabel and St Germain get a story worthy of them. I loved the mystery interwoven in this story. Like Georgina North’s previous books, the dialogue and character development were masterful.
I read a lot of Regency romance and Georgina North has brought the heart and soul back to the genre. Too many books today focus on rebellious characters and action-packed plots. I’ve missed books like hers, where character development and slow-burn romance are central to the story. She also gives us characters with secrets and vulnerabilities that I haven’t read before. I hate having to put her books down because I want to finish them in one sitting. Each of her books is better than the last.
And a special nod to Pip, the kitten. Simply brilliant.
Haunting the Earl was such a treat! The main characters, Saint and Anabel were relatable in their own ways. The loss of a parent and the longing for their approval long after their last breath is something I deeply resonated with. I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The representation of those with learning disabilities through the leading lady was refreshing. Can’t say I’ve seen that in a historical romance novel! I also adored Pip, the rascally black kitten who was always up to something! I loved the gothic elements of a spooky manor! Saint and Anabel’s connection was palpable and I enjoyed watching their love blossom. I cannot wait to read more of North’s works.
It was such a delight to read Anabel and Saint's wonderful and moving slow burn love story in Haunting the Earl. It captivated me from the first moment. Saint and Anabel are wonderful and complex characters. He is haunted by his father's death in Sylvancliffe when he was a young boy and she is tormented because of her "reading blindness", believing the man she loves is out of her reach. Their story is engaging and sweet. I loved how it slowly unfolded, from the first moment Saint realizes how lovely, sweet and witty Anabel is and Anabel's pining for a man she believes will never be hers. I was very much touched by their story and found it very enchanting, romantic and lovely. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a historical romance where the male lead finally falls in love with a childhood friend who has held a tender for him since she was a young girl. I wondered if it would be limited in scope, as it is set for the most part in a house party, but the book weaved in some really interesting themes as it progressed. One important factor was that the two leads both suffered from their fears, one was dyslexic and one had a problem accepting their status after seeing his father die when he was young. There was also a nice line in humour making this an enjoyable read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Slow burn. Ana’s had a crush on Saint forever but he’s seeing her in a new light. He struggles with his fear of the home where his father died and she struggles with her fear of anyone finding out she’s illiterate (not really, because she dyslexic). Another guest pays attention to her, purposely to make him jealous and it works. Everyone seems on board with pushing them together.
Such a sweet story and there’s even a kitten 🐈⬛! The spice 🌶️ at the end is perfect.
I’m curious about the research the author did on dyslexia in this time period.

This is a mystery romance that kept me entertained from the start. I loved the interactions between Anabel and Saint. I was quite surprised at how playful she was towards him. I was expecting a shy, demure FMC and that was not how Anabel was when she was around Saint. The story flowed very well and I loved how it ended - climax of the story indeed! I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a good mystery romance to cozy up to.

I loved the slow-burn love story going on in this book. I found the main characters, Anabel and Saint, were well-developed. They are complex characters who harbour secrets and profound emotions. The story gives an in-depth view into each character's soul. As we get to know each character, we see how Anabel and Saint's relationship blossoms. The author creates a heartwarming tale. The book was such a delight to read.

Selling his mansion is his goal — and his sister is determined to help him find a wife. And as this is difficult, she wants to have a ball . . . . An enjoyable read with a little bump in the night overtones. The main characters are very relatable with their insecurities but very admirable that they turn out kind and with a sense of humor. I like that the cat is the hero of the piece as well.
