I shiver whenever I read a book by Holly Roberts. First, because of the anticipation! Secondly, because she usually scares the stuffing out of me!
I felt the malevolence of the sharks emanating from the pages and I was like Game On! I loved the rapport and banter between the Captain and Stirling. Ultimately, Jerry took on the form of Quint in my mind (for me from Jaws) and I couldn’t unmoor the depiction so Jerry-Quint he was to the end. He was crusty and cranky but willing to lay down his life to save others. To me the title Depth represents the depth of development for some of the characters: Dr. Stirling, Blakely, Ryan, and even Dex, and Smitt. I felt safe with Blakely. I knew she would save me even though I wasn’t on the boat. I was so hoping Clarissa would be the first munch and I didn’t trust her at all. I thought she deserved to be shark food. I loved and despised the two sharks. JX became Jax in my mind and I was echoing Brody from Jaws saying Kill it Kill it! Oscar and Travis got what they deserved and I thought good riddance! I wasn’t as scared as I was when I read Churn but I still was very tense as I read. I had to remember to keep changing sitting positions because I held my body so tense! Although the Queen Velvet might have been an old bucket, the broad did her duty to her end, hats off to the maritime matron! Thanks to Holly Roberts for the early copy!
Depth by Holly S. Roberts This series has been so fantastic. I love how Holly tells a story, bringing it to life in a tangible way.
I loved seeing teenage Ryan. She was such a fantastic leading lady, and her development throughout the book was beautifully done.
The descriptions were so vivid that you could almost feel the jostling waves and ocean breeze.
The bold characters added depth to the plot, making it an interesting addition to this series. I love how the stories were interwoven, keeping things connected and flowing smoothly.
Finding novels that incorporate sharks that are well done is a challenge, but Holly has created such a brilliant series. It encapsulates the beauty, strength, and agility of these animals- while dabbling in the fear of the deep, cold, dark waters of the ocean.
This series is an absolute must read for all shark lovers. Katy approved!

Twelve years after surviving the catastrophic events that shook up her world, Ryan is returning to the ocean on a vessel participating in activities of a marine biologist with a man who has inspired her through his videos. With another fourteen students, they settle in quickly when it soon becomes clear that this won’t be a regular research adventure😳
This books was fast paced, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved getting a feel for an older Ryan. I shed some tears and had goosebumps at the end🙌 I’m not sure if I’ll be cut out for another Carter Family Adventure in the future but I won’t say no if Ryan turns up in a book again one day🙃
Highly recommend. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review🔱
Get ready because this book is going to take you on an exhilarating adventure. Ryan Carter 11 years older gets accepted into an exclusive research program to study sharks. Two days into the program and disaster strikes. Will Ryan and everyone aboard survive, to find out read this book and please remember to breathe because you will end up holding your breath waiting to see what happens next.
Basically, Jaws the Revenge as a gaggle of college marine science majors go out to sea to tag sharks, and get initiated into the business. The purpose of the trip is actually to get some of the students to quit. Of course, there's the usual tragic background and such.
On the whole, not bad, but slow to get going. Everybody who needs to be eaten gets ate!
Really enjoyed this short novel that followed the original novel and the novella (important primer for this). While the premise might be a stretch, the action and character interactions were excellent.
Great writing and a solid storyline. My only complaint is giving animals humane characteristics like memory, vengeance etc. but definitely worth the read.
