From the praised author of Saving Rain and Warrior Blue comes a thrilling love story between a pink-haired dancer and her half-blind protector …

I never knew how to stick up for myself.

I never had to.

That’s what Nate Manning, my best friend, was for.

After an accident left me disfigured and half-blind, I took the torment and bullying while Nate fought my battles for me, as unhinged and questionable as his methods were—and I let him.

But that was before I bumped into the confident and strong Indigo Sky.

Suddenly, I had something to fight for, something to defend—something more important than me … especially after taking a job as a bouncer at the club where she danced.

I made a vow to protect her at all costs.

And I will do anything to keep that promise … even if it means burning bridges with my best friend—or risking my own life to save hers …

When I was a wee lassie, I was told by my preschool teachers that I was a natural at storytelling. When I was just a little older than that, an old friend's mother said to me, "Kelsey, one day your books are going to be on the shelves at the library."

Well, Diane, I don't know if my books are ever going to be on the shelves of libraries, but I'm sure as hell going to try.

When I'm not writing stories destined to be bestsellers, I enjoy devouring TV shows, listening to every type of music there is and going to concerts, reading pretty much anything (with a soft spot for romance and certain books located in 18th century Scotland), obsessing over makeup, and pretending to workout.

I also have a fondness for cats, my family, tattoos, and a really good French fry.

I really loved the romance between Kate and Rev. I just didn’t feel like it was the focus of the book. I never liked Nate and I didn’t like how his story ended. Not my favorite Kelsey Kingsley book, but as always I enjoy her writing and she does such a fantastic job writing solely from the male pov.

Revan + Indigo

They meet-cute at the strip club she's working at. And after she gives him his first kiss they don't see each other for over a decade. We don't know what happened in Indigo's life in that time because Rev is telling this story. So we hear about his life. From when he was only eight years old, how he lost his eye and how he found his best friend Nathan. And then we see his whole life with school and Nathan and work and Nathan. But Nathan is not really the friend we always thought he was?
Stuff happens.
And then we finally meet Indigo again....

══════════════════

description
description

That was... adorable and so sad and heartbreaking somehow.
Poor Rev has a great home life, great parents, a pool, a dog. But after the accident things went downhill for him. Nate helped him a lot in school at the beginning - they were like brothers for years. But some bad stuff happened too - because of Nathan.
We don't like Nathan very much in the beginning - or for most of the book really.
We want all the good things for our Rev, but it takes him such a long time to get anywhere near his happily ever after!
I really enjoyed reading this. It was so sweet and sad and a bit mysterious.
It was also a tiny bit slow and uneventful at times. But I still liked the story and the people! I would not mind seeing this on TV one day!

INDIGO SKY was a beautiful love and life story!
Sweet + emotional + sad + dangerous + mysterious ... READ IT!

Weak hero

Kelsey Kingsley has actually written two of my favorite books—“Saving Rain” and “One Night to Fall”. I loved those books so much. I did not like this one at all.

Rev-(I did love his name though) just came off so passive and weak to me throughout this entire book. He was in a constant state of self pity and self doubt. He was constantly contradicting himself in his inner monologue. He was never happy—always second guessing himself about everything. This man had absolutely no confidence and it had nothing to do with his childhood injury.

SPOILERS AHEAD

What truly put me over the edge though is that he felt guilty about killing the guy (he no choice) who stalked, beat and raped his girlfriend. The guy had also killed her dad’s caregiver and was going to kill all of them. But Rev feels like he failed everyone including the killer because “he could have got him help instead”. WHAT?!? Then in the epilogue, (to show you how contradictory his thoughts are), the love of his life tells him she’s pregnant and is first thought is..”was she trying to pull a quick one one on me—straddle me for life without my consent?” Who thinks that about the woman he loves and after everything they’d been through together?? In the epilogue???? I did not like him as a hero at all.

I think this was the first book I had ever read that was from a male POV that wasn’t like a retelling type of book. This whole book is written from the males POV, and I’m going to be honest I am here for it! I really enjoyed it. This book has some suspense, and even psychological twists in there with his best friend.

This is a Suspenseful Contemporary Romance. The romance in this book is more of a slow burn. The Romance does tend to play out more in the background for a large part of the beginning of the book. Letting the books plot take the main focus. The book does have some mild spice, as well. The book moves at a quick pace following Rev throughout his life. The book follows his friendship with Nate, and how it leads him to meet a dancer named Indigo Sky. She is now his reason to fight, and he made her a promise. A promise he will do anything to keep, even if that means risking his life to save hers. This book is full of twists, and turns you wont see coming. That keeps the book exciting, and addicting.

I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll start off by saying that this romance is one of the most original that I've read. Why? Well, first off, it's told completely from the male POV, a one-eyed male that wears an eye patch. And the romance? Well, it doesn't start until pretty far into this story. Seriously, this book gives new definition to the term "slow burn", yet this will go down as one of my favorite love stories ever.

A childhood accident left Rev disfigured and half-blind, and that's when the bullying started. He never learned to defend himself, because he never needed to. Nate was troubled and mean, but he became Rev's protector. He became his best friend, his only friend. Then Rev meets a woman who he wants to protect, but in order to do that, he may need to cut ties with his best friend once and for all.

A good part of this story revolves around the relationship between Rev and Nate, and let me just tell you that it had me sitting on pins and needles a good deal of the time. Rather than an indigo sky, I felt like there was a big black cloud just hanging over my head, ready to pour down at any moment. Talk about a page turner! I couldn't get through this story fast enough.

I loved the relationship between Rev and Kate, but there is some serious suspense and foreboding that surrounds them. So many times, I thought that I knew what was going to happen next, and again and again, I was wrong. I have never distrusted so many characters at once!

I've often said that Kelsey Kingsley is one of the most underrated authors out there today, and she's proven it again with this book. While this wasn't the tearjerker that many of her stories are (although I did cry a few tears), the angst was definitely there, and I just know that I'm going to have one huge book hangover from this one. I have no doubt that I will be thinking about Rev and Kate (and Nate too) for quite some time to come. This will definitely be one of my top reads of this year.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Indigo Sky by Kelsey Kingsley is an unforgettable journey that pulls at every emotional string. From the first page to the last, I was completely captivated by this deeply moving story of resilience, love, and transformation.

What makes this book truly stand out is the powerful voice of the MC. Kingsley masterfully illustrates his growth through distinct changes in his narrative tone—capturing his evolution from a vulnerable, uncertain young man to a self-assured adult who has found his inner strength. This transition is woven so naturally into the storytelling that you feel every moment of his struggle and triumph. The voice shifts subtly yet meaningfully, making it clear just how far he has come.

The relationship between the MMC and Indigo is beautifully complex and tender. Indigo’s unwavering spirit serves as the perfect catalyst for his transformation. She is not just a love interest; she is a force that inspires him to step out from behind his best friend Nate’s shadow and become his own protector. Their connection is raw and real, filled with moments that are both heartwarming and heart-wrenching.

Nate Manning's character adds an intricate layer of conflict that propels the story forward. The friendship between the MMC and Nate is multifaceted, depicting loyalty, toxicity, and the painful process of breaking free from the past. Kingsley does not shy away from the complexities of friendship and love, making the stakes feel real and urgent.

The themes of self-worth, courage, and the power of love are handled with depth and sincerity. The author’s prose is vivid and immersive, drawing readers into every scene and making them feel deeply connected to the characters' experiences. Each chapter is laced with tension and hope, leaving you unable to put the book down.

Indigo Sky is more than just a romance; it’s a story of healing and finding the strength to fight for what truly matters. Kelsey Kingsley has delivered an incredible novel that stays with you long after the last page. If you’re looking for a book that balances heart, grit, and redemption with captivating character development, look no further.

Highly recommended to anyone who loves stories of personal growth, passionate love, and unyielding loyalty. Indigo Sky is an absolute gem that deserves every bit of its 5-star praise.

Here is why you'll want to read Indigo Sky:
💜 Hot bouncer with an eyepatch
💜 She gives him his first kiss 💋
💜 Touch her & 💀 vibes
💜 Male POV
💜 OMG SUSPENSE

"She moved with grace to the music and closed her eyes, as if to shut out the crowd. She danced with emotion and striped as though she was doing it more for herself than the audience before her"

Revan is a sweet, insightful, respectful and caring man. When he was just 8 years old he suffered a life altering injury, resulting in scars and the loss of his eye. His only friend in the world was Nate: a broken boy who grew up to be an angry man, a master at gaslighting and showed little remorse or care for his unlawful actions and their impact on his friend.

Indigo (Kate), is a beautiful young woman who dances at a local strip club. She is smart, caring, strong and confident. She has a lot of love to give to the right person.

This is a beautiful story about friendships, hardships, love and the sacrifices we are willing to make for those we love and care about. This story is also has a plot twist I did not see coming.
The book is written 100% from Revan's perspective, and it is so well done! We are invited into his mind and heart. He is so caring, so genuine and an overall good guy. He is so respectful of women, especially the two most important women in his life: his mom and Indigo. His friendship with nate is often tested and there may come a point where tough decisions need to be made, but you will be pleasantly surprised by Nate in the end.

The book is low on the spice meter (compared to those I typically read), however it is very high on passion, devotion and love.

I was given a free ARC of this book. This review is my opinion.

ARC READER REVIEW:: I LOVED this story. Rev is the ultimate MMC. So sweet, so caring. And scarred in the places he can’t hide. Growing up as the outcast kid with an eyepatch, Rev wasn’t the most liked person. He was bullied until Nate, his best friend, entered his life and protected him. Through thick and thin, Rev and Nate stuck it out until Rev needs some space to grow into his own person. Enter Indigo, the instant love of his life. They are throttled into a deep, immediate connection that neither of them are able to forget for years. When tragedy strikes and Rev has to be the hero for everyone, my head was spinning!!! I was not ready for the twist! I ate this story up so fast! I didn’t want to put it down! I loved the way the story was written, as if Rev was sitting in front of me, and telling me himself.

Kelsey did it again with an incredible story that brought on a roller coaster of emotions. My favorite thing about this book and all of Kelseys books is how amazing she is at making you feel exactly how all the characters are with her writing. I laughed, cried, and laughed some more. Throw in some suspense and an HEA and you will love this book too.

The relationship and growth between our MMC Rev and our FMC Kate/Indigo is so cute and I love the banter between them. They may be the main romantic relationship in this story but in true Kelsey writing style, there are many more relationships in this story. We also have Revs friendship with Nate, his best friend who always causes trouble and dynamic of Rev with his parents who have always been there for him. I love seeing different how the different relationships and dynamics play out in anything Kelsey writes.

Kelsey has been called the Queen of the male POV and I have to agree. Her male POV books have all been incredible and this book is no exception.

Kelsey Kingsley has made a name for herself with her heart-wrenching, earth-shattering stories, and Indigo Sky is no exception. While undeniably emotional, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t leave me as tearful as I had anticipated. Written from the MMC point of view, Kingsley offers a fascinating exploration of the male psyche through a female author’s lens. The story follows the poignant relationship between a pink-haired dancer and her half-blind protector, a bodyguard who vows to keep her safe at all costs. Brimming with longing and suspense, this novel keeps readers hooked until the very end. A truly captivating read!

Every moment of this story made me feel something. I quite honestly didn’t want it to end. Kelsey’s writing is phenomenal, I cried, I giggled. I was sucked in from the first page. This is the kind of passionate love and growth I want to see written on paper. This is the kind of suspenseful, mysterious and wild plot twist I want.
I loved the full male POV from Rev.
She was fantasy.
She was power. 💜

Once again Kelsey can do no wrong when it comes to her men. I LOVED Rev and Indigo's story. I will say it was not as emotionally heart breaking as her previous ones, thank god-idk I could handle anymore heartbreak, but it was still angsty and very enjoyable.

If you have read other books by Kelsey you are going to love this one. Rev is such a sweet cinnamon roll and Indigo deserved the world.. Nate on the other hand, smh. I was ready to fight him.

Thank you wildfire PR and Kelsey for the ARC for an honest review.

It’s 2:13 AM, and once again, Kelsey Kingsley has RUINED my sleep—because I had to have answers! This book? A rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I screamed (silently, because it’s 2 AM). Time disappeared as I ate up every word—one minute, I was just reading, and the next, 20% of the book had vanished in what felt like seconds.

Rev and Nate’s friendship? Gut-wrenching in the most beautiful way. Watching them as little boys, you can’t help but fall in love with their bond. But as they grow, and Nate’s boldness starts revealing a darker side, the heartbreak and awareness sneaks in. And then, when Rev finally sees what we’ve been dreading? Ugh, my heart! I was so proud of him but also still concerned for Nate. The way their paths keep colliding, giving us new glimpses into Nate, was perfect—it all slowly starts to click as to why he acted out the way he did in the past.

And then there’s Kate. She’s an angel in human form, a ray of light (see what I did there, IYKYK) in Rev’s life who comes and goes but leaves a lasting impression. Her backstory? Also lovedddd! Her job, one that many would judge, the reason she continues to dance for HERSELF, absolutely adored. The way she fiercely loves and protects her circle just makes you want to reach through the pages and hug her.

This book wrecked me in the best way, and I’m begging you—read it. You’ll lose sleep, cry, and maybe scream into a pillow… but it’s so, so worth it. And yes, there is an HEA, but trauma first, then happiness! 🤣

It’s not often you come across an author creatively inclined enough to write a character’s entire life’s story so well that you feel like you know them. I first fell in love with Rev and how he held all the good in him. Most of all, I fell in love with his loyalty. And then I fell in love with Kate. I wanted to embody so much of what she was. But their love, man, that’s what truly got me. I loved how two people from two different walks of life came together for this instant forever love. I’d recommend this book a thousand times over.

Was fortunate enough to read this as an ARC and it did not disappoint

The book is solely writing in the MMC perspective which I found so refreshing and different from most books I’ve read and it was done well, although the writing style wasn’t something I’ve come across I found it made me more intrigued on where the story was going.

The book goes on about how traumatic events can define you, the turmoil a toxic friendship can feed into everyday life, and a tender relationship that ties everything together. All together it was raw, intense and passionate.

The MMC (Rev) overcomes so many obstacles but never changes him as a person. Although I wanted to scream and got frustrated at the clear manipulation he’s best friend was doing I don’t think this book would have captured his journey without it.

If I could put Kate/Indigo in a bubble and protect her from the world I would and the relationship between the two is tender, understanding and passionate. Couldn’t have written a more perfect FMC for him honestly.

I did however feel like their relationship was more closed door slow burn as I felt like things happened fairly quickly but how everything tied into each other at the end 🤯 did not expect that.

I love a cute love story were there is so much growth from the two main characters but especially from Rev in the best way possible. Just from personal growth alone is astounding.

“I think about sunshine after days of darkness, I think about vibrant and colorful beauty when everything else is so fucking dull. But probably more than anything, I think about coming back to life after too long of believing I was better off dead.”

I would love to be loved like this. Revan loves with all of his heart, and I think everyone deserves to be loved like that.

My feelings and thoughts are all over the place after finishing this book. The way this book had me feeling almost the entire time, like I had a boulder in my stomach just waiting for the proverbial shit to hit the fan, only to completely throw me through a whirlwind and change my mind completely 🤯 like wtf?!?! KELSEY!! You really had me dreading every chapter, cause I was so scared about what was going to unfold next. 🫣 I was not expecting things to go down the way that they did!

There was so much suspense through the entire story, I was literally on the edge of seat. I loved every minute of it. 🤭

I’ve never read a character driven or plot driven book that was done as good as this. That you would be so pulled into what’s going that you don’t even mind if it doesn’t have a lot of spice. Which if you know me, you know I love the perfect dose of spice in my romance books. But I was completely fine with what we were given. In fact, it made it better. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Highly recommend this if you love a slow burn romantic suspense, that grips your heart in a vice.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (first 5-star read of the year!)

Indigo Sky by Kelsey Kingsley completely caught me off guard—in the best possible way. What starts as a gritty, emotionally raw love story unfolds into a gripping, twist-filled rollercoaster that left me gasping.

Rev, the disfigured bouncer with a quiet, aching strength, tells his story like he’s sitting across from you in a bar, spilling his soul one shot at a time. It’s intimate, magnetic, and painfully honest. And Indigo (Kate)? She’s more than just a dancer—she’s a symbol of light, healing, and fierce independence. Their connection isn’t just romantic, it’s transformative.

But let’s talk Nate. The best friend who redefines “toxic” in every sense. He’s manipulative, emotionally stunted, and his hold over Rev adds a layer of tension that never lets up. It made me want to shake someone. Hard.

This book dives deep into themes like trauma, self-worth, friendship, and family with a grace I didn’t expect—but it works. And just when you think you’ve figured it out… you haven’t. Trust me. The twists? Devastating and delicious. That redemption arc had me suspicious until the very last page.

This isn’t just a romance. It’s suspense. It’s raw healing. It’s everything I didn’t know I needed outside of my usual fairy-winged, spice-filled reads. It’s beautiful. It’s brutal. It’s unforgettable.

Bravo, Kelsey Kingsley 🤩 And thank you.

This gifted wordsmith is one I’ve been with since the beginning, and I love the recent development of adding some psychological suspense to her romance. With the plot twists and story arc of a seasoned thriller writer, this one kept me reading late into the night.

It all starts when Rev Waters is a boy and gets injured. The permanent scarring and eye patch he now wears incite unbearable teasing and bullying. But then the biggest bully in school, Nate Manning, befriends Rev and they become inseparable. There always seemed to be something different about Nate, but Rev is an non-judgmental friend, and their kinship lasts into adulthood. It isn’t until Rev meets a girl named Kate that things go awry.

Kingsley did an amazing job with this one, keeping me wondering until the last page about so many things. She tugged my heartstrings with Kate's father and Rev's parents and how supportive they were of Rev and Kate. With an element of suspense that will keep you guessing, this sweet, steamy romance with an abundance of heart is sure to be your new favorite read

This book ruined me and my sleep! Go read it !

Indigo Sky by Kelsey Kingsley is a raw, intense, and super emotional romance that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go. I finished it in a day and I’m still digesting it—it’s one of those books that makes you feel, cry, and want to punch something all at once. The story is so real, with characters you feel like you know, and it hits hard, especially if you’ve ever dealt with bullying or toxic friends.
Indigo Sky is about Revan “Rev” Waters, who’s got scars and lost half his sight from a firework accident as a kid, dealing with bullies, a complicated friendship with Nathan Manning, and falling for a strong pole dancer named Indigo Sky. It’s a real, emotional book with laughs, tears, and some intense moments, showing how tough it is to figure out who’s really there for you, and it’s a solid 5-star read.

This book is wonderful!! Definitely delivered another masterpiece. Not going to lie, I had a moment where I almost turned into a bawling mess. Some gasps. Some W-T-F moments, I was questioning some things towards the end. But this book delivers! Indigo, Rev... this is definitely in my top 5 for book couples!

The MMC... 🔥, but Kelsey always delivers with the book boyfriend type!! 😘 i don't want to post spoilers, but I can't sing enough praise for this book or author!

Review

I don't know what happened to me, but I was dragged in this book and read it in little over 24 hours.

This was an emotional roller-coaster of emotions for me personally because we get to see deeper into MMC emotions and past, all of his struggles. The book was told entirely from the perspective of Raven our male main character.

I loved this book because it was (kinda) realistic, struggles of these main characters as well as their emotions.

So Raven our main male character is just a regular person (minus the missing eye) he is such a gentleman and respectful person it made me tear up. His first kiss was with Indigo Sky, our female main character who is an exotic dancer, when he was 21 years old.

I cannot really tell you anything about Indigo except she is a very brave person. I loved her self confidence.

The plot twist was great and I was sure that I knew who the stalker was and then *BANG* it slapped me right in the face.

There is just something truly special about the way that Kelsey Kingsley tells a story and Indigo Sky is no exception. Her characters and storylines are so relatable and real, you just feel every emotion that she intends for these characters. I am also in awe of how a plot twist can be so subtle, yet so mind-blowing at the same time. My favorite parts of this book are the development of all of the unique characters and their relationships that grow and evolve throughout the novel. The ups and downs, the heartache, the kindness and all of the emotions the author incorporated into this devastatingly beautiful story made it one of my favorite books I have read this year.

Every book this author writes is unique and pulls me into the storyline and characters quickly. The fact that it is told completely from the male POV was perfection. I loved how it followed Rev and Nate's friendship for years and yes you get to know them but there is also an underlying feeling of secrets being kept. I loved Rev, and with each new page and chapter more is revealed about this complex character. This is a very slow burn romance that was so worth the wait even if I did think at times it was going to go in a different direction. Nate is pivotal to the storyline he had me conflicted, confused and at times angry at his actions but in the end I understood him. This book really did feel like a journey through someone's life, exploring how he felt and coped with all life threw at him. Another great story from this author that made me think, feel and fall for all the characters.

3.5 ⭐️ for being a unique read. This was told entirely from the mmc’s POV, which stands out in the sea of romance novels. And as much as this IS a romance story between Rev & Kate, it’s equally a story about the evolution of the friendship between Nate & Rev. Talk about character development, these 2 guys have some serious ups and downs.

A billionaire, high-powered, alpha male who-makes-all-the-fmc’s-dreams-come-true romance this is not. But if you’re open to a scarred, shy, mechanic mmc and an exotic dancer fmc romance set in a small town, with a little angst thrown in, give this a go.

I actually really enjoyed reading this book. Rev is such a compelling character, he’s been through so much, from a traumatic accident and a toxic friendship to feeling isolated without much support beyond his parents and Nate. I really felt for him, especially in how hard he was on himself. He took on blame that wasn’t his and internalized so much pain, which deeply impacted his life. Then came Indigo Sky. She had her own battles and struggles, but she truly saw and loved Rev for the caring, strong, and thoughtful man he is. Such a great read!
