Bay Winchester thinks the only thing on her to-do list is a memory spell to make Aunt Tillie’s archnemesis forget all the bad things that have happened to her in recent months. When the spell almost backfires thanks to an error on Aunt Tillie’s part, things almost spiral out of control and she’s annoyed. That annoyance turns to fear when on their way home they find a vehicle in the middle of the road. It’s running, but nobody is in it. A quick search leads Bay and Evan to three bodies in the woods. And they didn’t die of natural causes. When the FBI arrives on the scene, Bay has a choice to make. She agreed to help with their new paranormal unit, and it seems they’ve finally found a case. Just what will this new partnership entail, though? Bay wants to help. Even more, she wants to be part of a team. What if the team she already assembled was better than her new one, though? There’s a monster on the loose, and it is not done killing. If anything, it is just getting started. On top of that, Bay has family problems coming out of every cauldron. Aunt Tillie is up to something, Thistle is covering for something, and Landon just found out he no longer has an eight-pack. Bay has a lot on her plate. There’s no turning back, though, because if she doesn’t find the monster, it will find her family. And it won’t stop until everybody is dead. Bay is the mightiest witch in Hemlock Cove. Even she might not be able to fight this darkness.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
What s more terrifying than one Aunt Tillie, in this book we find the answer. No good deed goes unpunished, it's a classic saying for a reason, while trying to help Mrs Little (who after previous events is having a massive breakdown) Aunt Tillie looses control of her magic........and let's just say it doesn't end well. Not what Bay needs when she's dealing with three death's, the F.B.I., a Thistle who's acting secretive and a husband who has lost his eight pack and doesn't know where to find it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who has gotten tired of Tillie? No matter how often Ms.Lee tries to spin that deep down Tillie loves her family, at the end of the day she is a spoiled vengeful woman, who takes delight at mayhem she causes. It is time to retire Tillie, in my opinion. The series is at a crossroads, embrace the shift towards the FBI team up, or wrap it up. All good things come to an end, maybe it’s time.
This is another great entry in the series. She is overlapping with characters from other series, so we also get to see Stormy and Scout. Bay is trying to work with the FBI as part of a new paranormal team they are starting. Adjustments are required on both sides. I really enjoyed it.
Another great read, Lee! I'm also happy that this one was so long. I like the details. I wish there'd been less of the kvetch Clove, but I am glad she is back up to taking on adventures.
The answer as to what's up with Thistle wasn't answered, but I'm sure Lee will mention it in book 27!
Aunt Tillie is was especially obnoxious in this, but the reasons behind why became clear eventually. It's a doozy too!
Landon was picked on by Bay and the rest of the Winchesters and it caused him to take drastic measures.
There are several problems that occurred in this read and I'm happy to say most had a solution that made everyone satisfied.
My next adventure in bookland is a story by Lily Harper Hart - an author Amanda M Lee knows very well 😉. The book is Book Nine, "Skeletons in the Closet" from her Return to Magic Cozy Mystery series.
This was my first favorite book of Ms. Amanda M Lee's since I have read every series she has written. This is book 26 and I do not know how but she keeps improving upon perfection. This book had me laughing out loud out quite often as can be expected with Aunt Tillie involved. But the snark and sarcasm is so much fun to read. Adding neighboring paranormals to the story is so enjoyable. I feel like it keeps the characters from Ms. Lee's other series relavent and me as a reader salviating for their series releases. Not to mention when all the characters interact across series to remove a monster it is so fun to read with addition snark and sarcasm. Love this book but I recommend reading all her series so you understand the characters and their strengths. Love loved this book. Double the trouble is the best!!
Winchesters are in middle of murders mysteries again
Oh aunt Tilly she such great charcter with her side kicks. This one had lot going on and Landon DoD not bet on my nerves as much but I do agree he is a male Clove but I finding him most whinny charcter of all her books and thing with bacon it is like his drug of choice along with Bay lol. Which we vet story with the other husband partners of cousin in them more like Sam and some story m ystery another on on the haunted boat. But we had 3 cousins Tilly all trying to fix marget and things go side wise from there FBI is involved scout gunner Evan all help in this one . Aunt Tilly acting extra strange in this one great plot twist to that story
The wicked witches of the Midwest are my guilty pleasure. I don’t know why I love reading these stories. I love the characters, they’re funny and flawed, and I can’t get enough of them. Who doesn’t love Aunt Tilly? I am happy to say that finally the typos are not as prevalent as the first few books, and the author has gotten better at character names. I swear some of the names were selected from the phonebook - first name found on page 25 and last name on page 41. Beyond the typos and the weird names of the ancillary characters, I do love the Winchester ladies. I will say that I find Landon to be too sappy for an FBI agent. But I look beyond all of that bc I know I’m not reading them for their literary value.
Captivating from start to finish, this installment of the series delivers an exhilarating narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The intricate plot weaves unexpected twists that make it impossible to set the book down. The beloved characters shine once again, their witty interactions and dynamic personalities bringing both laughter and depth to the story. As I turned the final page, I found myself eagerly anticipating the next adventure, already imagining the potential for future storylines and spin-off series that could emerge from this rich, imaginative world of the Witches.Midwest series. Keep up the good work and thank you!
What can I say, but I love this freaking series! Bay and her crazy family always have the best adventures. This book is no exception. When trying to do a nice thing for Margaret - yeah, I'm with you - Tillie manages to screw up (not a surprise), but the repercussions of this particular FUBAR are more troublesome than most.
Love the character, Bay and Landon are so cute, while Steve makes an appearance to test the waters of his paranormal investigation offer when something happens to catch the eye of the local FBI office. Can't wait to see what the Winchesters get up to next time.
I really love Bay/Tillie's compassion in whatever situation they may find themselves in as well as the justice they wield. All bases are covered justly. I am glad Thistle/Clove are back into the fold so to speak.but don't forget about Marcus seeing as he was Tillies 1st right hand man; plus no mention of how his business' are fairing, aren't they getting married soon...don't knock up Thistle, like kvetch Clove. That's not her style, much less Marcus's.JMO Dedicated reader~
Book twenty-six, and the storyline is still not growing stale as some series do. Bay is out in front in this one as she tries to solve the mystery of the death of three men in the woods. So many questions as to what they had been doing out there are answered in the end, but getting there took a lot of investigating with the FBI wanting to be involved in paranormal situations and breathing down Bay's neck. With the help of the family and friends from other series(I love how they are integrated in each other's stories), the truth is found, and justice served as it should be.
It's beginning to feel like the series is floundering. The main character group was thrown together briefly but they were even more irritating that usual with identical "threats" and verbiage used in Book 1. At least there were only 2 (maybe 3) references to "eating dirt" this time. I'm not quite certain where the series is going with Bay and the FBI involvement. It's really muddying the water. Scout was brought in a couple times with Evan and Gunner. Landon is becoming a bit of a patsy and almost superfluous.
Super impressed. Tremendous steps forward in my opinion. Bay is coming into her own, Landon is less weak as a strong woman would expect. Thistle has grown a bit but was missing at the end. Bay's mom is no slouch either. There's mire action nut the fun and comedy still shines. The kitchen conversation had me in hysterics. Bay is no longer the weak sister in Amanda's world of witches.
I have loved the Witches of the Midwest since I first read the first one. Tilley is such a character and the whole family have become a family I am emotionally invested in it seems. This book was a real good one in this series. The usual banter with Bay and Landon was so entertaining and also realistic in this one. I loved the morally grey areas and the FBI trying to wrap their heads around the new world opened up to them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Wonderful read. Love the way the story is progressing. So many options for the Winchesters now and Bay. This series just keeps getting better and better. The other groups, Scout and Stormy, all work well into the picture. Amanda M. Lee is the most amazing writer. Seems to be no time lapse between stories. Other authors I need to try and remember characters but Amanda's characters are always memorable. Keep writing Amanda (and Lily).
Throw in a vampire, A pixie and a witch doppelganger and the FBI trying to learn about the paranormal and the plot gets pretty convoluted. The theme is which is more important, justice or the truth (or the law)?, and some juvenile pranks, and it's a midi level Shadow Cove adventure. Why did Clove see Aunt Tillie dancing naked on the ship?
I loved it! This is one of the best books I have ever read. Danger, some humor, many mysteries and twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. I literally could not put the book down. The ending was excellent. I highly recommend reading this book. But, to get the most out of these books, read the entire series starting at book 1. You will be entertained for weeks, if not months. Thank you Amanda. 💕👏
The Winchesters are some of my favorite characters. Watching how Bay has developed throughout this series has been incredible. I love how Amanda M. Lee has made different characters from other books not only make an appearance in this series, but she has given Bay friends who count on one another. I love how much Bay has grown. This was a very good book and I loved then ending!
Amanda M Lee’s books are my absolute favorite! She gives me a world of magic, snark, and humor. Her characters are have good hearts, are smart, and become the best person they can be. Justice is served with a side of humor and snark in the world she creates. Reading Amanda’s books are an effective coping mechanism for me. I always look forward to the next book.
This was another enjoyable addition to the Winchester Witches series which definitely needs to be read in order to I liked that Landon finally learned that their are consequences to the way that he has been eating lol! I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t learn what was up with Thistle though. That ball seemed to be dropped.
Where are the laughs? I just couldn't give this one 5 stars. I didn't find the plot as humorous as usual. I would have liked more of Millie. And can we move on with the Thistle plotline soon? Poor Marcus and Sam never even come to dinner anymore. Good thing they get cookies.
Completely Fantastic!! Waiting is always hard but when the journey with Bay is over it was well worth the wait!! Bay ha new choices to make and decisions that can affect her friends. What will she choose? Bay always does what is best for everyone especially her bacon loving hubby!!!
I wasn’t sure how the possible partnership with the FBI would work but I like the direction it went in this book. As usual, the gang was all here and even more of Thistle and Clove than we have had in previous books. Love Evan’s insights. Looking forward to the next book.
I’m a little disappointed in the glaringly obvious plot hole. The hole being if Bay did not know about Naiads, that’s okay. Even though she met Poet, maybe it never came up. I didn’t take time to go look. But Scout should know about Naiads, because Scout knows Poet well, and she travels with two Naiads.

This latest instalment had me hooked from the start and I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely love the crossovers with Scout and Stormy and it was nice to see Clove and Thistle a little bit more. I’m still missing Marcus but I’m sure he will be back soon as this book indicated a bigger Thistle story in the future. This is definitely still my favourite book series of all time.
Hard to believe this is the 26th book in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series (and there are 16 Shorts and 6 Fantasies in the same universe and many crossovers with the author's other series.) But somehow this book had new and fresh twists within the premise of the Winchester Witches and their world. I can hardly wait for the next book.
I love this series. I mostly love the banter between the Winchester ladies. Always funny. I can't say it was my favorite, but it was definitely entertaining. This new paranormal group could be interesting if they can survive the adjustment period. If you're a fan of the Winchester clan, you'll love it.
I really loved reading this book. It's one of my favorite series. It was funny and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
I love these books. I plan on reading all the books by the author. My only problem is the small screwups in the books. Small details wrong such as Bays car being destroyed 2 or 3 books ago when she hit the shadow monster but she’s driving it again and says Landon wants her to get a new one which also happened in the other book.
