[Full review to come] I had the pleasure of both proofreading and beta reading “Jingles” and I am so thrilled to be mentioned in the Acknowledgements section. (Team Jingle - all the way!) This is my second time working with her, and it is a privilege to be able to give my opinions on her books and for them to be valued.
Some things are just meant to be, but the path to obtaining that so often will be full of roadblocks. Painful events that make believing very hard. That’s exactly what we see with Clara Winters. She is meant for Nick but a past betrayal has her guarded and protective of herself… her emotions, her thoughts, her feelings. There simply is no room for love because allowing herself to love again could be setting herself up for more pain and more loss. After all her fiancee and best friend ran off together, got married and showed her people can’t be trusted.
Nick knows he and Clara are meant to be but how can he go about showing her that? Oh by the way, Nick isn’t just anybody. He is Nick Claus, the very man that children all over the world call Santa. Nick has to take over his dad’s role as Santa but he needs a wife… not just any wife, he needs the very one meant only for him, a soulmate. And Clara is that woman, without her Christmas won’t be the same… literally. Children all over the world will be disappointed.
Now Nick has to show Clara that his love is true, it’s real and not an illusion. Again, it won’t be easy but anything worthwhile takes heart … and Nick’s heart is full of love for his ‘one and only’, Clara. Enjoy the journey.
🤔 Likes and Dislikes
✒︎ I really, really wanted to see that ex-fiancee and best friend get lumps of cola in their stockings.
✒︎ Love the journey Nick has to take to fill his dad’s shoes. Taking over the reigns of Santa is both exciting and somewhat scary. I like how Nick works through his doubts and fears.
✒︎ Poor Clara. What her fiancee and best friend did to her shattered her heart and changed her life. However, as The Good Book says, if God is for us who can be against us? I hope you enjoy her journey as much as I.
✒︎ I was disappointed in how much ‘magic’ was featured. It was like front and center in the storyline… and that isn’t what Christmas is built upon.

"Jingles" by D. F. Jones is a delightful short story filled with romance, magic, and destiny.
The quaint town of HollyHaven holds a secret so mysterious and magical that most of its residents remain unaware. But Nick, the charming but reluctant heir to the Claus legacy knows the town's beloved Christmas shop, Jingles, which is owned by his family, is the heart of Christmas magic. As he approaches his destiny, Nick learns the magic is fading, and he must race against time before it is lost forever.
When Nick meets Clara, the owner of the local cafe, he sees the key to restoring Christmas. Clara, however, is still recovering from past betrayals. As sparks fly between them, Clara is forced to confront what she has tried to avoid: belief in magic, love, and herself. Can Nick convince her to trust in the magic they share before it fades forever?
I cannot tell you how much I loved "Jingles." You know what makes a romance story even better for me is to set it during Christmas. But "Jingles" has more than just the perfect setting. It is the story of a young man, facing a huge responsibility he feels unprepared for, who is thrown an unexpected snowy curveball: the key to saving the magic of Christmas rests not only with him, but with a young woman who is determined to distance herself from everything needed to fulfill that destiny.
Jones has a keen eye for detail and description, and considering the location of the story and the season, that makes for a charming read outside of the unfolding romance. Close ties to family and community also play a role.
If you love seasonal romance, Santa Claus stories, and stories surrounding the magic of Christmas, "Jingles" is a must read.
With Christmas magic slowly fading from the town of HollyHaven, Nick Claus is aware of his need to assume the mantle of Santa from his father. The prophecy governing Christmas magic doesn't just include the retirement of the current Claus and the taking of the helm by Nick. Nick also must find the perfect partner. When he does, the realization of who Nick is and what her role would be, is overwhelming for Clara. Nick has the task of convincing Clara that magic and love are real.
The author did a wonderful job putting her own spin on the tale of Santa Claus. I love the prophecy concept. It's a unique twist on the Santa Claus legend. The novella is original and heartwarming. The setting is festive and the magic bleeds off the pages and right into the reader's heart.
Jingles pulls the reader in with holiday magic and a sweet romance. I was captivated by the entire story. Nick and Clara are cute, wonderfully written, delightful characters. The romance is quick, but in a town filled with magic, it's not hard to believe in Nick and Clara's connection.
JINGLES is a Sweet Christmas Romance Short Story by D.F. Jones. This is a short story of the magic of Christmas and facing the fears of the past and the future to be. In the quaint town of HollyHaven, Christmas magic has run deeper than anyone could know. But now the magic is fading away and with it the Spirit of love and caring.
As Christmas magic fades away, it's up to Nick the reluctant heir to the Claus legacy, to find his soul mate so together they can revive the love and Magic of Christmas. He may just have found her at the The Cinnamon Stick, the new cozy café run by a talented baker with a guarded heart.
Clara must confront her past and regain her belief in love, herself, and in the magic of Christmas. It's up to Nick to convince Clara to trust in the magic of Christmas and the magic of love before the magic fades away forever.
Truly, the best I can say about this story is to read it or you'll miss one of the best stories of Christmas love.

Jingles by D F Jones is a sweet Christmas novella. Novellas can be hard to rate because they are short and people want to feel they get their money’s worth, which I totally understand. I got Jingles through a tour because ’tis the season.
Jingles is the Christmas shop where more than trinkets are available. Everyone leaves with a little bit of magic added to their day. Nick runs the shop and is the Claus heir, but he has his doubts. Especially after his father, Santa Claus, tells him he must find his Mrs before he can take over the position.
Then, he spots Clara. He asks what she’s reading.
“A bit of fantasy, a dash of romance…Just the recipe for frosty days.”
As magic dwindles and the Christmas spirit fades, decisions will have to be made.

This was a cute holiday romance with this author's own twist of the legend of Santa. I love how Christmas magic is intertwined not just with jolly Santa, but with love he creates with Mrs. Claus. Santa's son Nick needs to find his Mrs. Claus to save the magic of Christmas. I love the small town where Nick's Christmas shop resides. HollyHaven embraces and thrives on Christmas magic. Clara the new bakery owner catches the eye of Nick, but will she believe in the magic or will her gun-shy heart be too leery of the future with Nick and his family's legacy? It's a fun quick read sure to get you into the holiday spirit!
