D. Thrush mixes it up with Literary & Women’s Fiction, PG-rated Rom Coms, and a Spiritual Inspirational novel. All her books explore family and friendship, love and romance, relationships and life. She writes from the heart and finds it difficult to part with her characters when their stories end, hence several sequels. All books are standalones.

“Fairy Tale Karma” was a #1 Amazon Bestseller, “Guardian of the Light” earned a B.R.A.G. Medallion, and “The Daughter Claus” (which her mother told her to write) was a finalist for the Ian Book of the Year, Wishing Shelf Awards, and Readers’ Favorites. Three more books complete the popular Santina Series.

She enjoys reading (of course!), taking walks, brain games, movies (she was an extra in a movie), watching HGTV wearing sweats, and cohabiting with her significant other in Oregon. And she loves hearing from readers.

Definitely recommend.

The Santa Secret by D Thrush.
I loved the cover and blurb of this book. This was a lovely read. I did like Clara, Nicky, and her friends Myra and Marty. I also liked Mama Claus. The elves and reindeer dancer, Prancer, vixen, comet, cupid, Donner. Dasher, Rudolph, and Blitzen. This was a lovely story. I liked the writing style. I loved everything about this book. I liked the two places, florida and the North pole, where they stayed throughout the year. I loved how the author described everything. I could vision it in my mind. I would definitely recommend this book.

What a cracking little seasonal read this book was. It’s definitely got me in the festive reading mood.

This was an endearing romance read, the FMC and MMC are both athletes who meet at the Winter Olympics. She’s a skating coach and he’s on a bobsled team. Nicky lives in the North Pole and Clara comes from the sunshine state that is Florida.

No one would believe you if you said your Dad was the actual Santa Claus! But that really is the case for Nicky. Clara is willing to give everything up to move to the North Pole and keep his secret.

This had everything a Christmas read should have. A beautiful romance story, weddings, babies, reindeer and elves. This could not have been more perfect. I can’t wait to read Santina’s story and continue this festive reading spell I have fallen under.

I loved the writing in this book, how time passed seamlessly and how easy the story line was to follow.

As soon as I picked this book up I could not put it down! I was drawn into the magical romance and who doesn’t like a Christmas romance at this time of year!

I really felt like I was on the journey with Clara and could feel her struggle in every chapter of this book. Great character building and I felt like I knew them really quickly.

Such a fun, easy read - I highly recommend!

Excellent book. I imagine it must be hard keeping Santa a secret. Being married into a magical world, how exciting. Can't wait to read the next one.

Oh my!
This is my first read by this author and what a great introduction to both them and this festive series.
This book is actually a prequel novel to the Santina Series - currently four books in and having had a peek, I am in love!!
With a set of colourful front covers that all match and look super festive - I can't wait to get them in my shelves!!

I was so glad, that after finding out this was part of a series, that it was a prequel read - which meant no spoilers for the other books and a great introduction to the concept and plot.

If you know me, then you'll know how much I adore Christmas in general, but Christmas feel-good movies are the best - and this really gave me that same kind of vibe.

I loved getting cosy under a blanket with my festive hot chocolate and just completely immersing myself in this.
It gave us Santa, the North Pole, elves and talking reindeer, the magical toy workshop and everything else you could possibly want from a Santa story.
But I absolutely loved the cute romance storyline which was woven in amongst all that magic too.

I loved Nick and Clara and the development of their friendship and subsequent relationship.
Seeing the pressure that Nick was under, it was great to watch Clara help him navigate the drama and family dynamics and settle into her new role.

This gave me all the feels both for a romance read and also a fun festive story.

I definitely need to grab the rest of this series and add it to my December tbr!

I really enjoyed the festive atmosphere in this, it had elves, talking reindeer, and the whole north pole experience with the letters, toy workshop and festive cheer.
Clara meets brothers Kris and Nicky at the Winter Olympics, she has an instant spark with Nicky, even through Kris continues to flirt with her, but she knows they are hiding something from her. She decides to spend more time with Nicky before heading home and their connection deepens. Nicky decided to confess his secrets to Clara, and hopes she'll accept and choose him.
The big secret is Nicky is Santa's son and heir, so if they want a life together, Clara will have to leave everything behind, move to the North Pole and vow to keep their secret, even from her own family.
This is a story about love and sacrifice, unexpected responsibilities, and family legacies. There is sibling rivalry between Kris and Nicky that causes tension, as well as interferences and drama from Kris's fiancee.
You get a sense of the immense pressure Nicky is under to become Santa, and the conflicts it causes with Clara, especially when it comes to the next generation. Clara certainly shows her commitment by supporting Nicky, uprooting her life and settling into the role of Mrs Claus.
This is a sweet and festive standalone, and prequel to the Santina series.

A story to reignite your belief in Santa Claus!

I received this ARC from the author in return for an early review.

Clara Clarke like most of us once believed in Santa Claus but grew up and forgot and currently was a skating coach at the Winter Olympics in Calgary. On the final days of the event, she is with her best friends when she is introduced to some friends of theirs, one of whom she finds an instant attraction to. She hasn’t dated much spending all her time skating and coaching but she likes this man and wants to see more of him, even when he tells her something completely unbelievable- that his last name is really Claus and his father is Santa! She refuses to believe it until her best friend confirms what he says and even then she finds it hard to believe until he comes to see her and takes her to meet his parents at the North Pole! There she meets the reindeer, sees the workshop, the elves and everything and knows it is true.

Despite the cold, she loves Nicky and marries him and spends most of the year up at the North Pole. When she is expecting everyone is excited thinking it will be a boy but it turns out to be a girl. His brother has a baby boy and says his son will be the next Santa that causes dissension in the family. Nicky and Clara’s second child is a boy which should end the problem but the bitterness between the brothers persists.

This story delves into the complexities of running the
largest toy operation in the world and the interpersonal struggles Nicky and Clara have in adjusting to life living as Mr. and Mrs. Claus and commuting between Florida and the North Pole!

I enjoyed this book and the humanness of it all! After all that is what we all are when all is said and done- we are human! In this case, there is some magic sprinkled in which makes the reindeer fly and speak which adds to the magic of this book!

I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend you pick up this book if you’re looking for a delightful read for the upcoming holiday season! It’s the perfect book to put you in the perfect frame of mind to enjoy the upcoming season of festivities!

I urge you to share this book with your family and friends! It’s a wonderful book and one that is a prequel to a whole new series which should be a delightful one I’m sure you’ll enjoy!

A sweet addition to holiday reading lists. Clara and Nicky meet at the Olympics and have an instant attraction. After years of dedication to their sport they are each ready to start the next part of their lives. But when Nicky reveals a family secret, he is next in line to be Santa and Clara can’t reveal this to anyone. Clara has to decide if she can be a part of his world. It is a story of the magic and wonder of Christmas and the importance of believing. Family and tradition is at the center of the story but Clara has to find a way to live in two families and not reveal the secrets. Can their love survive this requirement? This is a prequel to the Santina series but I read it as a standalone and did not feel like I was missing anything. If you enjoy sweet holiday stories I recommend adding this book to your holiday reading.

What a wonderful story this was. I hadn't realised it was part of a series, I definitely want to explore more with the Claus family.
I loved Clara and Nickys meeting and subsequent relationship. I'd have liked a little more about Nicky and Kris' relationship, and I would love to see someone put Kandi in her place.
I loved the relationships with the friends. Myra, Marty, and Walter in particular.
This is a super fast read, I could barely put it down and read it all in one sitting.
I really enjoyed the story, the writing, the setting and characters, and I definitely want to read more about the Claus family.

This was a fun little Christmas romance, it reminded me of those hallmark Christmas films, which I love by the way.
It was fun and at times very funny, I loved the reindeer the most. The description of the north pole was fab and I really could see it in my mind and the characters were written well, it was just so wholesome and heartfelt.
My only criticism would be that it felt a little repetitive with Clara and how she didn't like the cold etc. but overall it was an enjoyable read and gives you all the feels that you want for a Christmas romance. And I for one want to know how Mrs Claus makes those amazing cookies!

I really enjoyed this story a great festive read.
Clara has an instant attraction to Nicky but when he finally tells her his secret - that’s he is next in line to become Santa, she finds it hard to believe.
This is a prequel to the Santina Series but can be read as a standalone.
Full of great characters, I just love Walter and the reindeers, the descriptive writing means it’s easy to visualise everything.
A cute festive read with lots of humour written in and the most gorgeous book cover 😍

Here is my review for The Santa Secret by D Thrush

I got into this engaging story straight away right from the start and I really loved it. I don’t usually read this genre but I liked the synopsis and as it’s coming up to Christmas, it seemed an appropriate read. Clara had been a talented ice skater and had partnered Sven, before they became coaches and went to the Olympics to support their teams. It was whilst at the Olympic games Clara met Kris and Nicky Klaus, they were brothers. Kris made a play for Clara and while they were talking he talked about Kandi back home and how his parents thought he should marry her. In the end, he accepted they would just be friends. Clara turned her attention to Nicky who she really liked and it turned out he really liked her too. They spent a few extra days together after everyone else on their teams had left the resort and they got closer. Their feelings for each other grew much stronger. Nicky felt compelled to explain his biggest secret to Clara. To tell her who he really was but when he did, she was having a hard time believing him. She said she would only believe it if Myra told her it was true but they couldn’t get hold of her that day although Marty confirmed it was true, At the airport, they had a hard time saying goodbye and going their separate ways. It would be a few months before they saw each other again at Marty and Myra’s wedding but Nicky rang her every day. Once she was home, Clara spoke to Myra and asked her if it was true what Nicky had told her and Myra confirmed it was. Her parents were asking questions about who kept ringing her everyday but she couldn’t say anything as she was sworn to secrecy so she said what could then made excuses to change the subject, At the wedding, it was like they hadn’t been apart and at the reception they spent most of the time dancing so they could be close together. Nicky was staying in Marty and Myra’s condo while they were away and met Clara’s parents. They tried to make plans for the future. There were things that Clara hadn’t even thought of. It was awkward with Nicky bringing an outsider in but it seemed the time was right for her to meet his parents and go to see the toy company. Would she be accepted as an outsider? What would his parents think? This was a really great romance story which I really enjoyed reading. It was a fast read. It was a truly tantalising storyline which drew me in. I loved the majority of the characters but there was one I was wary of and she seemed to have an alternative motive. The story was excellently written and well thought out. It was an imaginative idea for a story and it worked so well. I found this story to be an easy to read story with great characters that in the main were likeable.

It’s always a great sign when a prequel makes you want to read a series. Of course, usually, you read a prequel at the same time you read a sequel – after the original series. But sometimes, you come across a book and don’t realize what you’re reading. This was one of those times, and I’ll definitely be looking for the rest of the series. I’ll then have to come back and read the prequel again because there are usually little in-jokes and Easter eggs that are really fun for fans to find! And they're all the sweeter we're you're in on them.

I don’t know what about the author’s name made me expect spicy, but depending on your preferences, be forewarned that it is NOT spicy. It’s a clean romance, which, considering it’s about Santa, makes me feel better. I’ve never read a Santa romance before, and I think I've even only finished one I realized was a Santa romance on Hallmark. Something about them usually wigs me out. But I’m reading various books to expand my horizons this year, and I’m so glad I read this one! It’s not spicy, and it was a seriously cozy holiday read!

I really enjoyed everyone in the story – except a couple of people who were clearly meant to be "bad guys" or at least, unlikeable. However, some of the standouts for favorites included Mrs. Claus and Walter, the main elf. I really enjoyed watching the growth of the two main characters, especially. They had a lot of growing to do, and the author did that well. Even without knowing where exactly their characters were growing, the arc seemed beautifully constructed. And, while I’m not usually one to care about settings, this one was too unique, and the contrast with the Florida beaches couldn't have been more wonderful to ignore. Also, the North Pole just had so many surprises.

Who’s It For?

If you love a good Santa romcom, this is a holiday read for you. If you’ve never read one and would like to dip your toe in, this might be a great one to start with. You also get a little sports romance at the beginning, a little bit of a love triangle, and a whole lot of holiday magic. It’s a pretty magical, light, and fluffy tale, so any content warnings are mild and really just as a warning for those who are particularly sensitive to the topics mentioned.

Content Warnings: Pregnancy, Pregnancy Loss (Off-Page), Childbirth, Family Dysfunction/Estrangement, Mild Injuries/Violence, Fatphobia, and Diet Culture. This is not meant to serve as a complete list of subjects that individuals may find potentially bothersome.

With the festive season drawing close, I’m on the hunt for inspiration for Christmas-time reads to get in the spirit of the season. Thank you to Love Book Tours for gifting me a digital copy of The Santa Secret by D Thrush and the chance to join the book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review for this jolly read, which definitely can boast ticking all the boxes all the festive must-haves to be a Christmas book.

The Santa Secret is a sweet seasonal romance about a grumpy Santa-heir falling in love with a sunshine-loving former Olympic figure skater from Florida. Two opposites attract trying to make it work between the climates of extreme cold to extreme humidity while keeping the crucial secret about Santa’s identity. D Thrush’s writing is easy to read and full of festive charm and wintery vibes. The plot brings to life the challenges and stresses of being Santa and his wife in a thoughtful, human way. Relationships are never easy around Christmas time with loved ones and family, especially when your husband is Santa.

The conflicts are relatable for every average person with the life challenges of aging family members, sibling rivalries and favourites, job pressures, and finding the balance between life, work, and Christmas. The characters are well-developed and likable, with nicely fleshed-out personas, flaws and quirks. Nick and Clara’s romance forms quickly, and they don’t get much time to be a couple before they launch into marriage, parenthood, and taking on the family business with all its complications, secrets, and pressure to make sure there is an heir and a spare for the Santa dynasty.

A prequel novel introducing us to the Claus family, who are in the business of Christmas, toys, and magic to make one extraordinary delivery upon Christmas Eve with the help from the community of humans, elves, and reindeer from the North Pole. I’m looking forward to getting the chance to delve into the Santina Series, which sounds like a hoot with the first female Santa and facing the problems of taking on roles dominated by men in the past. I think this series could be some fun, festive reading for December with a hot beverage and a mince pie or two. Suppose you love movies like Santa Claus with Tim Allen and Arthur Christmas. In that case, I think you’ll enjoy reading about this version of the Santa family, who are as messy, weird, and troubled as the rest of the world – only with a lot more reindeer and magic.

One of the very best Christmas Romances

Imagine falling madly in love with a big, strong, handsome Olympic bobsled champion named Nicky… from up north… who turns out to be the Son of Santa Clause himself!
Imagine he loves you so wildly and romantically that he proposes, and then you wed. Of course, marrying Nick Claus means you’ll have to spend most of the year, including the worst of those long winter months, at the north pole… even though you’re from Florida and love the sunshine.
Still, who can say no to this new and wonderful relationship, the bustling toy shop, and holiday life, even when it turns out there’s an even bigger downside… Nicky’s jealous brother, Kris, who always felt he should be the man who drives the sleigh, (though he’s far from jolly) and his girlfriend turns out to be an absolute witch.
Anyway, that’s the premise of a fabulously delightful Christmas tale by D. Thrush who paints such a beautiful picture of the Santa’s village and creates such entertaining characters, that you won’t want to put down this delightful little book until you’ve read it from cover to cover… and then the four entertaining books that follow it.
Five stars for a great read, a wonderful visit to the frozen north with tough talking reindeer, the abominable snowman, a friendly and super-helpful elf named Walter, an endearing Mrs. Clause who bakes fabulous cookies, a sleigh full of toys, and Saint Nicholas too. Not to be missed!!

If you want a Hallmark Christmas movie in a book - then this is the one for you.

It’s not a novella, but everything is fast paced in this book. Theres no time for pining in this story haha things happen one after another and the author does not give the main couple a break. We do have some tension from family - typical when there’s two brothers who want to take over the family business - and who can blame them when it’s Santa’s position in this case?

We do have a little bit of back and forth in the beginning from Clara but it’s honestly understandable. She met this man and fell love then was expected to just pack up and move to the North Pole! I would also be questioning my decisions, but of course love always wins in these stories.

This is a prequel to the Santina series and is a really cute, wholesome romance perfect for winter. The story focuses on Clara, who is from Florida a former world champion ice skater, now coach, and Nicky who is from up North, way way up North, and is part of a bobsled team and is also set to inherit the family business. Clara and Nicky meet via mutual friends at the Winter Olympics and a whirlwind romance quickly follows.
There is no spice to be found, it is just a sweet, wholesome romance and is the perfect palette cleanser for all my dark romance or fantasy girlies! It is a perfect pre-Christmas read for anyone who is a sucker for a Christmas romance!

This was a DNF at 5%. I absolutely hate DNF books and in the beginning?? Unheard of. I really wanted to get to all the magic.... but i got hung up on the writing. The author repeats themself multiple times, like if they forgot, they already wrote that. I dont think claras hair brushing was really that serious or that we would forget sven was talking to other coaches elsewhere.
Then factor in " Kris's " behavior. It was giving " wheres my hug" energy. Like dude chill, it made me uncomfortable, and it was fiction 🤦‍♀️

This was a really fun, cosy Christmas read. It was a bit slow to start for me, but when it got going I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved the descriptions of the North Pole, it was so clearly described that I could easily imagine I was there. The talking reindeer were another favourite part for me.

I also really liked Clara. I could definitely identify with her always imagining how things could go wrong, I do that a lot too.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read, perfect for the winter season.

With wonderful characters, Hot Florida and cold North Pole, and good writing, this would be a wonderful read for Christmas, even Christmas in July for the summer (laughs)! Overall, I enjoy the book and I would like to read Santina’s stories when I get a chance.

What a delightful read this was. I had no idea it was part of a series, but I'm eager to dive into more adventures of Claus's family.
Clara and Nicky's meeting and blossoming relationship were absolutely charming. I would have loved to see more of the dynamic between Nicky and Kris, and K definitely needs someone to take her place! This story was so good that I couldn't put it down and devoured it in one quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, the writing, the setting, and the characters, and I'm eager to learn more about the Claus family.

I started reading this book when it was 30 centigrade (86f) and how wonderful it was to immerse myself in the cool world of ice skating and then a trip to the North Pole. As I read on, I began to believe in Santa Claus – huge credit to the author!

This book is full of lines that make you smile such as when Clara clutches Nikki’s sock which sounds daft in a review but it really touches your heart.

I love that you can talk to the reindeer. I would like one of those talking reindeer for Christmas, please. Yes, the Christmas season really is magical.

Highly recommended.

Clara and Nicky meet at the Olympics. For a minute Clara liked his brother Kris but Kris' real personality soon became apparent. Nicky does not want to lie to Clara so he soon confesses who his parents are and what his future will be. The whole weather thing about Clara hating the cold is hard to buy since she was an ice skater for years. Also, I can't believe her parents not knowing where she moves to or being able to visit her there. The hate between the brothers was uncomfortable unsoldering their jolly parents.

Gotta love a festive Christmas book for this time of year. I love how the author portrayed the magic of Christmas and added their own spin to it. I love the chemistry between Clara and Nicky and watching them grow closer together even though it seems like they’re moving way too fast and at points it seemed like bits where missing where there was a slight time jump but seeing how after everything Nicky shows Clara that she still believes him and everything Christmas magic✨

If you’re looking for a delightful, fun filled rom-com of a festive read for the holidays, then look no further, this is the book you want. This story was adorable, and should be made into a Hallmark Christmas movie immediately. The characters were all well written and the dialogue was witty. I was thrilled to see that this is the prequel to a series so obviously that will be an auto buy for me. I absolutely loved it and you will too. Get this on your Christmas wishlist!

Almost DNF’d, but mostly because it’s not my typical style of book. It was a little boring and there weren’t any plot twists that made it more exciting. Time was a little rushed through and didnt go into a lot of details of what happened during the periods of time. World building was a little vague, and the characters were a bit boring. It’s a good read for those who enjoy clean romances without a decent plot line.
