5 STARS. WHAT???? WHY???? I thought this was the last book!! *screams and wails* It was soooo good! But whyyyyyyy??? I don’t like Kerrington. I just want Ian. *Sobs with book clutched to chest* LITERALLY JUST LIKE IAN DANGIT.
But in all seriousness I was scared because I love this series so much but most authors/series I start out liking tend to get worse as they go on. (Ahem. Once Upon a Broken Heart) THIS SERIES HAS DONE THE OPPOSITE. In terms of romance, plot, mystery. It’s actually SO GOOD. It doesn’t spoon-feed you but also doesn’t leave you in the dark. Every book has so much interesting stuff going on that I never once get bored or feel like it’s predictable. It’s so good. Great vibes. Ahhh love it!
I also actually LIKE Everly. And she got to wear a dress and dance. Yes yes yes and yes.
And there were SO MANY different arcs/vibes in this one! Alice in Wonderland, a little horror (like games in graveyard/gouls, being hunted in woods, etc), dancing, fairytale dresses, and so much more!
AND THAT ENDING?? Are you KIDDING me? It’s somehow possible for this series to get even BETTER??
SO NOW I HAVE TO SUFFER AND WAIT OVER ANOTHER YEAR PROBABLY FOR THE NEXT BOOK. WHY. Why are you such a good author Chanda Hahn???? I’m so mad! I thought I was going to feel happy and satisfied! Now I have to wait all over again. *more sobbing*
I FREAKING LOVE THIS SERIES.

After that last hook, I dived right in. I was happy to see book three picked up right where the story left off previously. Holland has disappeared and Everly has gotten weird messages but she doesn’t know what to believe. What happens next is an addicting online game that Mad Hacker, a grimm, has orchestrated all of the deadly games at Gravemark students. Tick Tock, the time is ticking for Everly and not only does she have to deal with this twisted game, she also has complicated feelings for both Ian and Hunter. She has a lot on her plate. There’s something else that is HUGE, but I don’t want to ruin it for others, but I’m very excited to see what happens next.
The narrator, Amy McFadden does a wonderful job bringing Everly and the other characters to life. I was easily able to distinguish which characters were speaking. The tones and inflections are spot on.
If you love The Luminaries, Inheritance Games and Wednesday be sure to check out this series. It has a bit of supernatural elements, academy, and mystery weaved into the storyline. This is an action packed YA read.

– this is the 3rd book in series, and must be read in order (there is likely another book to come based off the ending; the connecting thread throughout the books that hasn’t been resolved yet -beyond the thing introduced at the very end of the book- is who Everly will date out of the two guys she’s interested in)
– this is told from Everly’s point of view (with the exception of the prologue)
– Everly’s father died from pancreatic cancer recently (occurred in the first book)
– Everly’s mother left them when she was young
-there is one use of ‘a-hole’
-there are ghouls in this book (kind of look & act like you’d expect zombies to – though these pretty much are stuck within graveyards & move towards sounds)
-there is some fantasy violence (sword fighting, brief mentions of death by gun/knife/sword/ghoul)

I think I now have a favorite guy that I want Everly to be with, but I’m not sure that it’d be easy for Everly & either guy to start a relationship with how this book ended! It was so much fun trying to follow every little part of this story and it’s characters to try and figure out who was doing what! I loved seeing Everly’s complete & all consuming concern for her best friend’s well-being as she did what she could to save Holland. I loved that some of the teachers seemed to know there was more to what Everly was asking &/or they wanted to help prepare her for even things that she wasn’t aware would happen soon.
I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next with how this book ended!

Like the books before in this awesom series, this too is a really really good one! A book that challeges me perfectly- keeps me on my toes. For someone who knows 5min. into things what's what and at least half way through in mysteries all the answers- a book that keeps me guessing and doubting my guesses 😉😁😅 is a great book!
Loved the references to known stories and lore- also learned new things there!
It was a bit harder to cope with mentally but it has to do with the important subjects that are discussed here even if they are not "in the open" or obvious, and with me personaly.
I think this book and the series in general is good for teens but should be discussed- especially if they are under 16... and if the readers have been through loss of lived oves or anyone they knew in general- especially if it was something tragic and/or sudden- this could help but akso have trigers so my advise is to read the books with the teens- in parellel- and talk about it.
I read the first with wounded heart but not "fresh" but still lots of things even a 40+ relates to, the 2nd one helped me in a dark time not much after the hell that happened in my country and during the war, even if the book was with trigers and not free of evil- but you get to venquish them 😊! So This book too was not easy- lots of family relations, people's morals, very dark in a different way that too much resembles things of the evil that hunted me and my people all my life and in this war intensified.
I think this here shows what I always said- That that's the beauty of fantasy literature- showing us things, discussing things, wondering about things in a way that is easier to digest, or we are more open to hear about, think about, eccept, learn about...

This mysterious gamer had me falling down the rabbit hole right along with everyone else. I may not have agreed with everyone's motives, cough cough Hunter. Okay maybe I'm bias because I'm fully an Ian girl now! Oh wow, did things heat up between Everly and Ian in wonderful ways. Only have an ice bucket thrown on them! What is that? I really don't mind a little love triangle here and there or herenorthere ;) but come on? I just want these two together.
Everly starts to play a dangerous game to help Holland from becoming Mad just like her sister and being sent to an institute for her foreseeable future. I would have thought that was Hunter's main motivation as well but it's not. I'm not getting into it, this guy is hot and cold and I'm over it.
Everly is not able to tell anyone about the game however, there are a few other players that are revealed to be playing as well. and Everly does enlist help where she can. This girl does have an analytical mind that is impressive to watch. The big question is who is the Mad Hacker? Are the teachers involved? All of Chanda Hahn's works are clean.
Is it good?
Hahn is a gem, and so is 'The Grimm Hacker.' This is the most tense book in the series so far, though the pacing makes this gripping rather than excessive. The world building and character relations are great as ever, but Hahn really showcases how well she can create an intricate and surprising mystere here.
Is it appropriate for your children?
This is a different fantasy sub genre to most of Hahn's work, and as an intense mystery series, I would suggest it for more mature teens (16+).

I thought this was the last book, so I was on the edge of my seat devouring the whole thing feeling like "why does this feel rushed?! How will such and such happen with this being the last book?!!" To get to the end and find out THERE WILL BE MORE!??? AND I have to WAIT?!!!! NOOOOOOOO😭

3.5⭐️ still such a really good story and I love keeping up with the gang! the concept was great, but im not sure I LOVED the answer to the mystery. Also the whole carrigan scene toward the end kind of through me for a loop and she's kind of forceful tbh.... other than that great story, can't wait for book 4

I have been a fan of this entire series so far. I especially loved the villain of this book and the improvement of Everly’s and Mrs. Hart’s relationship. Also the opportunity to read of a Grimm school is intriguing.

Best of the series
So far the third book of the series is my favorite. I enjoyed the entire premise of the storyline. Book one is my next favorite. I'm looking forward to book four coming out. Hopefully soon!

Still my favorite author! I haven't read a book of hers that I didn't enjoy enough to devour quickly once I started reading. This book was no exception. I loved the Wonderland elements. I was left with enough questions that I can't wait for the next book but am satisfied and not angry.

Loved it. Very exciting! The love triangle is driving me crazy!!!!! I hope it ends the way I want to. I love how it incorporated wonderland elements. I love anything related to Alice in Wonderland.

This was a fun story, but nothing too deep. I do like the idea of the magic world interacting with the "real" world in the way that some trickster creatures turning to electronic means to enhance their trickster actions. The story was a bit simplistic and trite, but it was a fun summer read.
