Deep in the Jefferson Mountains, a hiking party has disappeared, the only clue to them being at the site, is a few rags of dirty clothing. Raptor Team, who are part of the USA (Unholy Slaying Agency), working for the US Government, is tasked with locating them.
Raptor Team which is lead by ‘Actual’ Artemis Coleman, venture into an underground kingdom, which was once a prison for the darkest evil. Joining Raptor Team, is Scryer, and Artemis’ twin brother Aristotle, who together witnessed a tragic incident, here in the mountains when they were kids.

There is evil around every corner, and Raptor Team, find that their sanity is put to the test on this, the hardest mission they have ever been tasked with, culminating in many deaths.

This is all out action from the beginning to the end, and once again, I felt as though I was part of the team, going in, all guns blazing, and bringing down the evil...crazy cannibalistic villagers, wendigos, etc, with limited chance of survival.

There are a few twists in this book, which keep you on your toes, and as with Book 1, I was completely exhausted reading it. With triggers that include cannibalism, and graphic violence, this is another awesomely epic book from my friend, Guy Quintero, who is a force to be reckoned with, in combining his military experience with the supernatural. You won’t be disappointed!

Highly recommended!

Raptor Team, led by Artemis Coleman, is following a tip of unnatural activity in the area of Devil’s Walk, the same area Artemis’ family met with trouble when she was young. As a unit of the Unholy Slaying Agency, Raptor Team is tasked with finding the origin of the activity and neutralizing it. As they begin their investigation, Artemis’ brother, Aristotle, arrives to aid the team as a scryer. They learn that a young woman has been missing from a local town, and the townsfolk believe the inhabitants of another town are to blame. Upon arrival at Cray Village, Raptor Team discovers the missing young woman badly injured. As they attempt rescue, they are discovered by the local residents who prove large, malformed, and hard to kill. A war begins that involves creatures much worse than first encountered all controlled by a powerful evil. Artemis and her team will face unimaginable physical and mental torment before this battle ends.

Once again, Guy Quintero has written an amazing tale combining both his military background and his occult interests into a story that left me in a thoughtful stupor by the end. All I could say was, “Woah,” as I contemplated the twists that staggered me as I reached the final scene. Guy is so good at creating visual settings that transport me out of this world into the one between the pages where I lose all track of time while eating MREs with my unit, track down rogue tangoes, and rendezvous with my team. The characters are so real, I feel a connection with them. You must make time to read Guy’s books. This is the second in the USA series, so pick up A Whisper in the Dark, as well, if you haven’t already.

Quintero did not disappoint us with his second novel, which is also the second in a series. He gives us monsters and lore, but not in your typical way, these nightmares have depth and keep you guessing. Military jargon is on point, I may have even learned a thing or two, relating to said subject. Looking forward to see what he brings us next.

3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4.

In Book Two of the Unholy Slaying Angency, we follow Team Raptor as they investigate an area in the mountains called Devils Walk. A place where campers have gone missing over the last hundred years with rumors of cultists. Julie is the latest person to disappear from town and Team leader Artemis is determined to rescue her even though it means visiting the same place that ruined her family many years ago…

Once again Quintero transports me back into his unholy world of bullets and monsters with surprises lurking in every corner. The Military Team-Raptor consisted of a well rounded group of characters that bounced off each other well and had their own special set of skills to aid one another in battle. Theres a lot of different weapons used in combat that I found very interesting and cool as hell! the SMAW Rocket being one of them. If you’re a fan of weaponry, you’ll enjoy the firepower packed within these pages. My only gripe with this novel is that there are a lot of moving parts with high concepts that sometimes felt like too much to focus on. Also, the characters inconsistently calling each other by either their first or last names got a little confusing to remember who was who. Nonetheless, it did not take away my enjoyment from the story as there were many aspects that kept me at the edge of my seat with intrigue and suspense.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, military-action mixed with supernatural horror that comes in the form of Sorcerers, cultists, Wendigos, plant creatures and ancient beings, then this may be the book for you. While it’s the second in a series, it works well as a standalone but would still highly recommend checking out the first book, A Whisper in the Dark.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

WOW! Even better than book one! This was intense in the very best way. ‘The Cannibal Peaks’ is dark and edgy, and I had to read it in one sitting! Yep, I sat there for six hours and read this book straight through because I had to know what was going to happen! You’re going to want to clear your schedule for this one—trust me!

‘The Cannibal Peaks’ is a multi-layered military thriller where anything goes including harvesting women and children. (You will not want to eat apple pie after this.) A fallen angel wants to dominate our world and he’s using a backwoods clan rife with interbreeding to get it. What starts out as an investigation quickly turns into a rescue mission for the Unholy Slaying Agency’s Raptor Team. Team leader Artemis Coleman has been waiting a long time to get revenge on the thing that brutally murdered her family and she just found it.

Guy Quintero wrote one hell of a badass female lead in Artemis who was both relatable and inspiring. Guy knows how to write women characters and as a female reader I can really get behind this! His realistic approach toward the supernatural made the story hit rock hard. This is one of those books that sucks you in from the first chapter and stays with you. I absolutely LOVED it! Guy Quintero has a reader for life after this one!

Artemis leads the Raptor team along with her twin brother, to combat the evil that lurks underneath… the vectors. Lots of ghouls and evil lurking in the shadows and the Raptor Team must figure out how to extinguish them… and stay alive. I loved the Greek god references and the christian references. Well written and easy to follow. Warning: there is content that some readers may find disturbing, so read with caution if you might be sensitive to certain topics such as cannibalism, graphic depiction of violence

Another amazing book from Guy Quintero! Fair warning though, do check the trigger warnings and other reviews as it is intense 😱.

It will leave you sick to your core but needing to know more!

It is much more than just gore/cannibalism, it is a mission with the agents from the Unholy Slaying Agency and the evil is of biblical proportions. An action-packed page turner. The end scene is amazing.

There is also a Christian undertone, which, while not in-your-face, I much appreciated. My favourite quote was:

"I confront my destiny with faith and courage. I am the daughter of the creator." ❤️

Highly advise you give this one a go, if you have a strong stomach! It is the second book in the series, but they each involve a new team which doesn't follow on from the last so each can be read as a stand-alone.

Top tip: don't eat snacks while reading this one

An action-packed survival story with lots of gruesome killings, monsters, and guns! I loved this book so much! it was such a relentlessly paced military story. Tons of comradery is on display, and lots of folks don't make it out. What more could you want from a horror novel.
There is some graphic content in this book, and I must warn it isn't for the feint of heart, but if you're all about blood-drenched violence (like me) then I'm sure you'll love it.
I'm so looking forward the the third book in the series!

After the first book I was expecting an explosion of a book with the second book and Guy Quintero did not disappoint. The U.S.A. (Unholy Slaying Agency) fights supernatural monsters and again like the first book this one starts with a bang.

I was again transported into the story like the first book. It felt as if I was part of the team fighting a long side them. I felt the horror, the sadness and the action. Guy does an amazing job describing everything that it takes you in and makes you feel everything that's going on.

These books are so good in my opinion that I have added Guy Quintero to my list of favorite authors.
