Spook Squad

Rate this book
14-year-old Abbey’s ability to talk to ghosts has saved both friends and strangers in need. But it’s also attracted the wrong sort of attention.

That attention arrives in the form of a domineering federal agent who insists that Abbey help her with something dangerous. She tells the story of a roguish fellow, Manfred Krug, who traveled the world as a fabled trader in the 1920s. As his diary details, Krug returned from Shanghai with artifacts holding the power to gather and focus otherworldly energy. The agent warns that if the relics fell into the wrong hands, it would be a disaster of biblical proportions.

Enlisting her ride-or-dies, Abbey, Kelly, and Lexi search some of the most haunted places in Minnesota. But someone else—someone dangerous—is after those same artifacts, and they’re right behind Abbey and her spook squad.

Allan is a unique storyteller, especially when his characters are facing overwhelming challenges. *Spook Squad* is the third book in the Abbey series and follows 14-year-old Abbey, who possesses extraordinary gifts (or a curse), alongside her best friends Kelly and Lexi in this high-stakes adventure. I really enjoyed *Class Clown*, so it was a no-brainer to one-click this book. I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series to understand more of Abbey’s backstory, but they can also be enjoyed as standalones.

In this thrilling paranormal YA tale, you’ll find danger, drama, suspense, mystery, and humor. In a world where communicating with ghosts is the norm, searching for dangerous artifacts is the main challenge, and strong-armed federal agents keep the Spook Squad on their toes in an action-packed, fast-paced adventure that you won't want to end.

The characters are well-developed, relatable, and a bit quirky. Allan’s narrative makes it easy for readers to visualize Abbey and her surroundings. You might think twice about reading this with the lights off—or maybe you won't!

Abbey knows she is lucky to have her best friends by her side, as they support her even when spirits come knocking and chaos ensues. Will they find what they are searching for before the evil Manfred Krug catches up with them?

Allan Evans’ Spook Squad is an electrifying mix of supernatural adventure, mystery, and heart. With a compelling young protagonist, Abbey, and her loyal group of friends, this book weaves a thrilling story about the paranormal, the power of friendship, and the courage to face terrifying odds.

Abbey’s ability to communicate with ghosts has always set her apart, but in Spook Squad, it becomes both her greatest asset and her biggest challenge. When a stern federal agent ropes her into a high-stakes hunt for dangerous artefacts tied to the mysterious Manfred Krug, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Evans expertly balances the supernatural elements with grounded, relatable themes of loyalty and bravery, making the story accessible and captivating for young adult readers and beyond.

The dynamic between Abbey and her “ride-or-dies,” Kelly and Lexi, is a highlight of the book. Their camaraderie, humour, and unwavering support for one another bring warmth and levity to the fast-paced plot. As they investigate some of Minnesota’s most haunted locations, the richly described settings amplify the eerie tension, immersing readers in the spooky world Evans has crafted.

The mystery surrounding Manfred Krug and the artifacts adds a layer of historical intrigue that enhances the story’s depth. Evans masterfully intertwines the past and present, creating a sense of urgency as Abbey and her friends race against a dangerous adversary to secure the relics. The diary’s revelations, the chilling supernatural encounters, and the escalating threats all contribute to a plot that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

What sets Spook Squad apart is its balance of thrills and emotional stakes. Abbey isn’t just a ghost-talker; she’s a 14-year-old navigating her place in the world, her unique abilities, and the burden of responsibility that comes with them. Her growth throughout the book, from a hesitant hero to a determined leader, is both believable and inspiring.

Evans’ writing is fast-paced and engaging, with enough twists and scares to keep readers hooked from start to finish. The antagonist’s pursuit of the same artefacts adds an element of danger that ratchets up the tension, culminating in a satisfying and action-packed climax.

Spook Squad is a must-read for fans of paranormal adventures, clever mysteries, and stories with heart. Allan Evans delivers a gripping tale that’s perfect for readers who enjoy a mix of ghostly thrills and character-driven storytelling. Abbey and her squad will leave you cheering for more. Highly recommended!

Spook Squad by Allan Evans is the kind of book that sneaks up on you. At first glance, it feels like your standard paranormal adventure with a teenage heroine, but by the end, it’s so much more an eerie, funny, fast-paced ride that blends ghostly chills with genuine heart.

What stood out to me right away was Abbey. She isn’t your stereotypical “chosen one” paranormal protagonist she’s stubborn, a little awkward, and deeply loyal to her friends. Her ability to speak to ghosts is both her blessing and her burden, and Evans makes sure we feel the weight of that responsibility. The arrival of the federal agent ramps up the tension perfectly; you can feel how unfair it is that Abbey is being pushed into something way bigger than her, but at the same time, it’s impossible not to root for her when she decides to take it on.

The historical thread with Manfred Krug’s diary was a clever addition. I didn’t expect to be as intrigued by the 1920s relics storyline as I was, but it gave the plot real stakes beyond “ghosts are spooky.” The idea of artifacts that can manipulate otherworldly energy feels like Indiana Jones collided with a ghost story, and it worked better than I imagined.

The friendship between Abbey, Kelly, and Lexi was another highlight. Their banter felt authentic, and their willingness to stick together even when things got properly scary gave the book its heart. It’s the kind of found-family vibe that makes the supernatural adventure even more grounded.

As for the scares: Evans delivers. The haunted locations in Minnesota aren’t just set dressing they feel lived in, chilling, and real. A couple of scenes (especially one involving a shadowy figure closing in while Abbey tries to hold her ground) actually gave me goosebumps.

If I had one minor gripe, it’s that the pacing occasionally felt a little rushed, especially when shifting between the federal agent’s demands and the trio’s ghost-hunting escapades. But honestly, the momentum carried me through, and the final showdown had me flipping pages faster than I realized.

Overall, Spook Squad is perfect if you like your supernatural stories with a mix of scares, mystery, and humor. It’s YA in tone but with enough substance for older readers to enjoy too. Abbey and her crew are characters I’d happily follow into another haunted adventure.

Ooooo. I am a firm believer of spooky time year-round, and this book was a treat for sure. While this is not the first book I have read by the talented Allan Evans (Killer Blonde and Killer Smile), it is the first book in the Ghost Girl series I have read. That said I didn’t find this book hard to follow or understand as the book does an amazing job of mentioning the previous two books’ events without dragging on or making it confusing to understand. Also, there is no delay in starting page one the spook begins.
The day started like any other, Abbey just sitting in class when suddenly she is called. Stacia, a friend she met at camp and survived a life altering event, calls her. Purple ooze and a mysterious figure outside the bathroom stall door of her high school in the next town over. Without hesitation Abbey is on her way with her two best friends Lexi and Kelly. A quick, interesting encounter and he is free, and Stacia is safe. The end? Nope that’s just the beginning. Enter mysterious woman from Virginia. She has done her research and knows that what Abbey and her friends said about previous events, such as the Clown encounter from book two, wasn’t the whole story. Suzanna needs Abbey’s help, or more so seems the world does. Something dangerous is searching for relics that can gather and focus otherworldly energy. The chaos that could be unleashed is unimaginable. Instantly Abbey and her spook squad are on the case. The only problem is all they have is the diary of the man who found them back in the 1920s to help them search.
Will the Spook Squad find the artifacts in time? Something dangerous is hunting too, who will win? I loved this book honestly from start to finish from the quippy interactions Abbey has to the little jokes to lighten a moment. Never a dull moment when you’re reading an Allan Evans book. Now that I have officially discovered Abbey and her spook squad I will definitely be going back and diving into books one and two, to discover all the details of where this world began.

This is the 3rd book in the Ghost Girl series. It is a YA paranormal adventure. With this being the 3rd book in the series I do recommend reading the other 2 books first as I feel this will give you a better feel for Abbey's character, her gifts and her story so far.
Saying that it I still really enjoyed this story. It was a story that mad me keep turning pages to see what would happen.
All Abbey wanted is to be a normal girl but with her unique talent of talking to ghosts she is anything but normal.
When she is approached by a federal agent her not normal life takes a dangerous turn.
There is a artifact that a magical powers and in the wrong hands could be dangerous. The agent needs Abbey to use her skills of talking to spirits to find the artifact before someone else does who will use it for evil.
So we know go on the adventure with Abbey and her friends to find the magical artifacts before it's too late but it won't be easy or straight forward and for every move they make there is something following them also wanting the artifacts to cause chaos. Will Abbey and her friends be able to find them in time?
This is a fast paced story which is full of twists and turns. The characters are well developed and I loved the relationship between Abbey and her friends. No matter what happens or how scary they always have Abbey's back and they all have a spirit for adventure.
This book was a really entertaining read

Abbey is a fourteen year old girl, but she is nowhere near ordinary and this is because Abbey can see ghosts and she can communicate with them. It has taken her quite a while to accept this, but she is now starting to trust in her skills and abilities, especially now that she has her best friends beside her, despite her strangeness.

So when the ghosts come calling, Abbey knows that she can call upon Lexi and Kelly for some back up, however, when she ends up cornered by a federal agent into collecting some rare supernaturally connected boxes, she is reluctant to join in the trial, especially when it includes her friends!

In order for Abbey to collect these boxes, she has to go to some of the most haunted Minnesotan buildings, the only clues are in the diary of a man called Manfred Krug, a man who travelled all over the world having adventures and gathering artefacts, including the boxes in question, so she calls on her "Spook Squad" and they head out.

Unfortunately for Abbey and her friends, they're not the only ones hunting for these objects and the other person just happens to be extremely dangerous! Will Abbey and her Spook Squad be able to find the boxes while avoiding this other mysterious competitor, or will they end up as another victim who got caught in the middle of something larger than them? This is a spooky adventure filled with paranormal activity, adventure and fast paced encounters throughout which will keep you entertained all the way to the end.

Spook Squad is the third book in the Ghost Girl series by Allan Evans. It is another wonderfully spooky YA paranormal story- perfect for ‘spooky season’. With drama, danger, ghosts, mystery, investigation, suspense, secrets, creepiness, tension, friendship, agendas, and high stakes, Mr. Evans ensured that his story held my attention and kept me flipping the pages to find out how it all plays out in the end.
Abbey isn’t your average teenager- she has an ability to talk to ghosts. But it also comes with some major pitfalls, which we witness as this story begins. Abbey is approached by an FBI Agent who needs her ‘special talents’ to help in track down some powerful artefacts before they fall into the wrong hands. With the help of her friends, they set off in search of the relics only to discover that danger follows closely behind. It seems that Abey and co aren’t the only ones on the hunt….
Even though this is the third instalment of the Ghost Girl series, it could be read as a standalone if you wanted. But, having said that, I highly recommend reading the first two books to find out more about Abbey and what ‘adventures’ she has had. As I think knowing what has happened previously will help you better appreciate this story, and series as a whole.
Get set for an exciting, spooky read.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Allan Evans!

Spook Squad is the third book in its series, which begins with Abnormally Abbey. I have read the second book, Class Clown, but not the first and I found the story reasonably easy to follow. You could jump in at Spook Squad but would be missing a bit of backstory and there are some spoilers for the earlier stories if you intend to go back and read them.

Abbey’s abilities have started to attract attention, and a mysterious agent approaches her with a potentially dangerous mission that will make use of her skills. She is joined by her friends Kelly and Lexi as Abbey is beginning to learn how to use other people to amplify her power. Also, her friends bring their own skills and good company to the mix!

I found Abbey’s love of 80s songs contagious! I kept having songs stuck in my head after I’d been reading the book and realising that it was because she’d mentioned them. So if you like 80s songs you might enjoy this side-effect of reading the book.

As well as the main plot, there are some nice moments when Abbey helps other ghosts she encounters to move on. This includes helping people who are grieving, which is approached sensitively and beautifully.

This book gets five stars from me! Spook Squad, and the rest of the series, would make great Halloween reads for older teen and young adult readers.

This book is the 3rd book of the Abbey series. I read the second one in the series but not the first and it was okay to read without reading the previous. There is mention of the previous book but only in passing. Therefore this book can technically be read as a stand alone.

Abbey is a 14 year old girl who can communicate with the dead. As time went on, her skills have gotten stronger and stronger. After rescuing a friend from a ghost at her school, she is approached by what she thinks is an EMT. Then Abbey sees that same woman in the restaurant so she confronts the woman. Turns out the woman knew about Abbey’s powers and needs her help finding a relic known to cause trouble.

Abbey and her two best friends take the mission due to curiosity and goes to the mansion that the relic was last known to be in. Unfortunately, they aren’t the only ones after the relic.

I read ‘Class Clown’ back in 2022 and really enjoyed it. When I read the synopsis to this book, it sounded interesting to me but I didn’t make the connection until I started reading the book and the characters sounded familiar. Instantly I was even more happy to have picked up this book. I loved Abbey with her quirky attitude and love for the 1980s so to find out she was back with another adventure, I was excited! It was a quick and fun Halloween read!

Spook Squad is the third book in the series that follows the adventures of young Abbey. Although this is the third book in the series the author has made it easy enough to pick up this book and not feel lost by providing details and a bit of a backstory on each character. It is a young adult paranormal story full of mystery, intrigue, suspense, danger, action, paranormal elements, ghosts, slime, and humor. The story centers around 14-year-old Abby who can see and talk to ghosts, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Most of the time Abbey can use her ability to help others but currently she has attracted some unwanted attention in the form of a domineering federal agent who insists on Abbey helping her. Abbey has a truly amazing support system with her friends who help her on her various adventures. The friendship between Abbey, Kelly and Lexi is truly admirable as they help each other out through both thick and thin. The author has done a great job of creating an intriguing storyline that flows nicely. The characters are well developed, interesting, and a bit quirky. I enjoyed this book so much that I fully intend to go back and read the first two books ‘Abnormally Abbey’ and “Class Clown”. This is a great addition to any library for both young and old alike.

I picked up this book not knowing that it was the third book in the series, but I read it anyways. And I can tell you I enjoyed it, I never felt lost or confused the whole time I was reading. This book was easy to follow, and we made to be able to pick it up and read it, there was enough info and back story in this read that it was enjoyable even being the third book. This was about Abby who can see and talk to ghosts, which can be good thing or a bad thing. And when she gets involved with an FBI agent and trying to get her to help find some artifacts. The characters were well developed and easy to follow their story, and the friendship they have was a wonderful mix with helping Abby with her ability and what was conspiring with the agent. It had everything from paranormal, suspense, danger, ghosts, friendship, mystery, adventure, and so much more it was such an amazing read. this book kept me turning pages for sure and was very entertaining, I will be going back and reading the other books for sure.

Can be read as a standalone but best to read books 1 and 2 first.

Abbey is a 14 year old with a love of 80s music, her best friends Kelly and Lexi...and a talent for communicating with ghosts. After the events of books 1 and 2, Abbey is approached by an federal agent obsessed with her abilities and determined to use them on her case.

After the agent informs her of the case of Manfred Krug and his paranormal artifacts, Abbey decides to help find the artifacts before they are discovered by someone else and used them to gather and focus energies from other worlds. Since she is learning how to use other people to help amplify her powers, she brings Kelly and Lexi along while they investigate haunted locations. When they find they are racing against time as well as another collector, the added suspense keeps you turning the page.

This was a really good book, had lots of charm and colorful world building. The "soundtrack" was a blast and experiencing the girls friendship and strength in adversity was so much fun.

“Spook Squad” by Allan Evans is a thrilling supernatural adventure that expertly blends ghostly encounters with high-stakes danger. Fourteen-year-old Abbey’s unique ability to communicate with the dead thrusts her and her friends into a dangerous hunt for powerful relics, guided by a mysterious federal agent. Evans crafts a fast-paced narrative filled with suspense, as Abbey and her “spook squad” navigate some of Minnesota’s most haunted locations while being pursued by a sinister force. The richly detailed world-building, combined with well-developed characters, brings both the supernatural elements and the emotional stakes to life. “Spook Squad” is a captivating read for young adult fans of paranormal mystery, offering a fresh and engaging twist on ghost stories. I will also add that this is the third book in the series, and I have not read the first two. This was an easy-to-pick-up read that was easily able to be read without reading the prior two.

Spook Squad is book three in the Ghost Girl YA paranormal series. I highly recommend reading the previous two books prior to this one for background and character building but it CAN be read without them. I found this book to be perfect for youth, with toned down drama and danger but still having a nice level of spookiness and mystery to it. The story follows 14 year old Abbey, who just so happens to have the ability to speak with the dead. Is this a blessing, or a curse? Things become evident that she is not your normal teen when a mysterious FBI agent approaches her, needing her abilities to track down a powerful artifact. Abbey and her friends set off to hunt down the artifact with danger around every corner. I love the close-knit group of friends Abbey has and how supportive they are of her abilities and of her in general. This is a great story of bonding and trust, in the midst of chaos. Definitely give this series a try if you are into YA mystery stories!

Oh my goodness, Abbey is a blast. I absolutely adore how we’d get back story as well as present time. that we got information about her childhood and how she handles her abilities now, showing what she has learned. Kelly and Lexi are great, understanding friends. Instead of making fun of Abbey or not believing her, they embrace her. Sure this has some to do with what they have gone through before however she had other friends not being so understanding.
The television show portions were great, as they showed Abbey’s talent but then general populations unwillingness to agree with her and always looking for the other side of the magic trick.
I definitely want to go back and read more of the books about Abbey. I read this as a standalone and wasn’t confused or really feeling like I was missing anything but definitely made me curious enough to read others. I am excited to learn more about Abbey And the back story of some of the things hinted at during this book.

Spook Squad by Allan Evans. This is the 3rd book in the series where Abbey, 14, has all kinds of adventures. It can be read as a standalone but I always recommend reading them in order. Abbey is always getting herself involved in all kinds of paranormal mysteries. Abbey can see and talk to Ghosts and she can usually always use that gift to do good for people but recently she has gotten so much attention from a federal agent who is insisting that Abbey help him. Abbey doesn't like how pushy he is and is not sure if she wants to get involved with him but he is persistent. Abbey's friends, Kelly and Lexi who can't see or talk to ghosts just believe their friend and do everything they can to help her. They all begin to look for the artifact the federal agent wants them to find. This is a fun young adult book that I as a older adult loved. It is full of ghosts, mysteries, suspense and danger. It is a great series to be enjoyed by all.

15 year old Abbey is different from most girls her age. Abbey can see and communicate with the deceased. One of her best friends, Stacia, calls her one morning at school asking for her help so she enlists the help of their other two friends and goes to her school to help her. When they arrive Abbey and her friends are met with a purple mist and purple slime outside of the restroom that Stacia is being trapped in by this being. Once Abbey gets Stacia out she convinces this ghost to go to the light however she is left with a glowing hand after it touched her. She is seen by a woman who is pretending to be a paramedic after the girls finally get out of the school and this mess of paranormal activity. This woman turns out to need Abbey’s help retrieving a spirit box because she has lost her powers. However this may be a dangerous task, is Abbey up for it? What is so important about this spirit box?

I’m not the biggest fan of spooky reads but sometimes we that little jolt to fire us up , you know get the blood flowing , getting out of our comfort zone 😉

I didn’t read the previous books and this can be read as a standalone but I think you’d get a fuller experience by reading the books in order .

Abbey can communicate with ghosts and her “ talents” are noticed by a federal agent that needs her help in finding some rather interesting artifacts and it would seem they’re not the only ones looking for them ….

Abbey was sitting in her class and getting on with things when she received a call from a friend she made at camp , she gathers her friends Lexi and Kelly and their head out on their adventures 😉

As I was reading this I shared bits and pieces with teens in my library and it seems right up their alley and for someone who was rather apprehensive at the beginning of this read I actually rather enjoyed it 🎈

Spook Squad by Allan Evans is an intriguing YA paranormal story that was difficult to put down until the very end. This story has a bit of everything- paranormal, thrill, adventure, friendship, mystery, humor and more. Abbey is a young teenager with a special gift that makes her far from normal. She can see and speak to spirits and supernatural beings. She has her own little 'Spooky Gang' of friends who support her despite her quirkiness, and work along side her on her paranormal adventures. This story is a part of a series, however, I had no issues reading this as a standalone. The writing was fantastic. The story and characters were well-written and given just enough depth that the story flowed perfectly without the feeling that it was dragging on. Overall, this was really a fun, spooky and enjoyable read! I look forward to going back and reading the other stories of Abbey as well!

If you like a mix of young adult with paranormal and suspense...then this book is for you. It is a light and quick read that will keep you turning her pages.

Abbey has the ability to communicate with ghosts. This can be both a good and bad thing...but now she has caught the attention of a federal agent that wants Abbey's help. Along with her friends Kelly and Lexi, Abbey sets out on quite the adventure. When the girls find out that someone else is also hunting for the artifacts...the suspense ramps up. Add in some quirky teen jokes and an awesome soundtrack...and you've got yourself quite a good story for this spooky season!

While this is not the first book in the series, the reader will find it quite easy to catch up on any necessary elements for backstory. I enjoyed reading about Abbey and her friends and their adventures.

Spook Squad is book 3 of the Ghost Girl series by Allan Evans. I didn't realize that fact when starting this book, but I was able to catch up easily enough. I would like to go back and read the first two books which include Abnormally Abbey and Class Clown. Abbey is able to talk to ghosts, so when her friend Suzanna is trapped in the bathroom at her high school in the next town over, Abbey receives a call to help her. The book then continues on to Abbey being tracked down by a federal agent who wants her to help with a dangerous case. Joined by her best friends Kelly and Lexi, they're on the hunt for missing artifacts using a diary of a man from back in the 1920s. Add in the fact that someone else, someone dangerous, is also on the hunt for artifacts and you've got yourself some intense drama! This was an entertaining YA paranormal read.

This is a great read for anyone aged 8-88! There is a wonderful blend of suspense, mystery and humour; all the while keeping the different types of readers actively engaged. The plot flowed easily and the characters were well developed. Even if you pick this book up as the first in series, each character is explained with a bit of back story so there is no fear of being lost in the middle.

This series will be a great addition to your kid's reading list and if you happen to have a reluctant reader in your household, this is definitely a book for them! If it inspires our kids to expand their reading horizons, then it should be in all libraries.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A spooky YA paranormal story perfect for reading at Halloween! Fourteen year old Abbey has the ability to talk to ghosts, but it’s brought her to the attention of a federal agent who insists that she help with a dangerous situation. The diary of a fabled trader from the 1920’s Manfred Krug, shows that he returned from Shanghai with certain relics. These artifacts hold the power to gather and focus otherworldly energy. The agent is worried that a disaster of ‘biblical proportions’ could occur if the wrong person obtains them. Abbey and her ‘spook squad’ search the most haunted places in Minnesota, but discover that they are not the only ones looking for the relics. The storyline had me hooked throughout and I felt engaged with Abbey and her ‘spook squad’.

I loved this spooky YA thriller. This is the third installment in the series, but I didn't know that and it read perfectly fine as a standalone. I'm sure that reading the other two first would fill in some minor gaps but I don't believe it to be necessary. I love Abbey as a character and her friends are awesome! I loved to see her development over the course of the book and her snarky inner thoughts (that sometimes got said out loud) were amazing. The whole concept of Abbey not only as a character but also as a plot line was done amazingly well. This is the perfect read for spooky season; especially if you are looking for something with a little spook but not a lot of fright.

Another great book from Allan Evans! Spooky Squad is a young adult paranormal story than continues with the life of 14 year old Abbey who can communicate with ghosts. You absolutely can read this book on its own but I would recommend that you read them in order as this is the third book and you learn so much about Abbey and her gift in the first two books. She has a small group of friends that know about her abilities and are there to support her and help in her adventures with the paranormal. I would highly recommend this book whether for your young adult reader, or for anyone who enjoys young adult paranormal stories.

IMPORTANT BEFORE READING THIS BOOK! You should read the first 2 books before reading Abnormally Abbey and Class Clown.
Spook Squad by Allan Evans is a good horror book about magic and High school students. There is weird stuff that is happening in this school, and it all revolves around the main character 14-year-old Abbey. I like how this book was written in the view of Abbey and how this book dips into the horror aspect. Abbey is a great written character and is written exactly like a high school student. So, if you are into horror and suspense pls grab some food such as popcorn and a nice drink and enjoy this book.

The cover of this book pulled me in immediately, which convinced me to give this new-to-me author a chance. I’m so glad that I did because this was tremendously entertaining! I didn’t realize it was part of a series, but I feel like I was able to follow rather easily. I loved this one so much that I will be picking up the rest of the series anyway though! Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I absolutely adore everything spooky. Once you turn the first page, you will realize why everyone is raving about it. The author wastes no time jumping into the action and demanding your undivided attention. If you are looking for a fantastic YA paranormal read, don’t skip this one.

Spook Squad is a great YA mystery story that follows Abbey and her friends as they try to help an FBI agent track down an artifact. What then ensues is a great adventure that is fun to read and really easy to become invested in.
I enjoyed being taken along on this journey. They author does a great job of pulling you in with the characters as though you are there with them. My favourite part was definitely the fantasy element. It really added to the overall storyline and brought even more depth to the book. This is a great story that I would definitely recommend.

"Spook Squad" by Allan Evans is a thrilling adventure that combines ghostly encounters with a fast-paced treasure hunt. Abbey's unique ability to communicate with spirits adds a captivating twist as she navigates the dangers posed by a relentless federal agent and a shadowy adversary. The rich historical backdrop of the 1920s story within a story, intertwined with the quest for mystical artifacts, kept me on the edge of my seat. Enjoyed reading because there were strong friendships and plenty of spooky surprises.

Spook Squad by Allan Evans was such a fun book! It follows teenage Abbey and her friends through another adventure. This is not the first book in the series, but I wasn't aware of that when I picked it up. It def stands alone though, and gave enough backstory to fill in the gaps without bogging down the timeline. The banter is super fun and quirky and I loved how realistic the storyline stayed. Overall, definitely enjoyed and will be reading others by this author.
