Monica Campbell may have a history as a wild child, but she’s changed her ways. She’s responsible, and most importantly, she’s sworn off bad boys. That is, until filthy rich Cal Hughes shows up with his sexy British accent and killer smile.
Cal remembers every steamy moment he shared with Monica years ago, but he barely recognizes the straight-laced woman she has become. Determined to lure her into dropping the prim and proper act, Cal uses every trick he knows to remind her of who she used to be back when she was his.
Four years ago, Monica Campbell hit her rock bottom. Since then she has made a conscious effort to lose her bad girl ways. She's determined to be a respectable, responsible adult. She earned her master's degree and now works for the charitable organization that was started in her mother's honor. Also, she now only dates respectable, responsible men. No more bad boys with no jobs for her. The Calum Hughes comes back into her life.
Calum and Monica shared a sexy moment at her father's wedding five years ago that he never forgot. So imagine his surprise when he sees her again all buttoned-up and serious. What happened to the confident, sexy woman he met out in the garden for some serious kissing? Just as determined Monica is to stay on the straight-and-narrow, Cal is JUST as determined to get her to shed the horrible pant-suits and letting go... with him.
Monica is hesitant to give into Cal. She NEEDS to prove to her older sister that she is responsible and doesn't need to be "looked after". She becomes a more balanced Monica the longer she is with Cal, but is scared to fully open up to him because Cal never is in one place to long.
His Kind Of Trouble is a story of self-discovery, growth, and trust (in yourself). That while you made of made mistakes in your past, you can learn and grow from them while still remaining true to who you are. Life is about balance, and this is a story about Monica and Calum finding theirs.

The plot was entertaining, the characters were likable and very relatable. I enjoyed watching Monica and Cal open up their hearts, put their walls down and find love when they least expected it.
Terri L Austin has written a heartwarming, beautiful romance that will touch your heart and leave you full of happy feels.
Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca via NetGalley for the advance copy.
This was an okay read. I didn't like Cal. Monica and him met once before. She was a different person then. Years later they meet again and she has grown up and made some changes. Instead of being okay about it Cal decided he needed to change her. That was really was I didn't like. However, they did get a happy ending which is why this got 2 stars instead of 1.
Give me a British millionaire who knows how to get his hands dirty ANY DAY IF THE WEEK. Callum is sex on wheels and I’d love to take him for a ride. Don’t worry, Monica does plenty of that on my behalf in this book.
Monica used to be wild. She used to fall all over bad boys, make bad choices, wake up with hangovers and regrets, rinse and repeat. When she first met Callum she was right in the middle of her Wild Days. They practically have sex in the middle of a garden outside of her father’s wedding. I mean, the giving of fucks is at zero.
But then things change. People grow up. Events happen that mold us into who we are, or in Monica’s case, tamp down who we are. Since that seriously hot day in the garden, Monica’s toned everything in her life down. Even the colors in her house are neutral toned and it’s sparsely decorated. When Callum sees her again, the same heat and connection is there and he’s determined to bring Monica back to life – or at least throw some color into it.
Callum’s a jet setter who rarely stays in one place, and I completely fell for his semi bad boy ways. He keeps pushing Monica, begging her shell to crack. He finds that orgasms help. A lot. The sex between them is wild, freeing, and fiery. Austin builds the characters well, letting me into the bits of their lives little by little, until I understood what was motivating each of them.
If you like a little exhibitionism with your contemporary romance, then you will love this. Monica and Callum couldn’t be outwardly more different, yet they are internally really the same. They connect on every level. Especially down south. They connect there quite a bit. But they also have an emotional journey together that is smile inducing. This is a feel good romance – and it will make you feel good everywhere.
This book is somehow a sweet romance and yet is also out of control hot. Prim and proper never looked so good. 4.5 stars!

His Kind of Trouble by Terri L. Austin Book #2: Beauty and the Brit Series Source: Purchase & Netgalley My Rating: 5/5 stars My Review:
Balls and bugger!!! I loved this read!!!! Now that I have that business out of the way on to the why of it all.
Monica Campbell made her appearance in book one, His Every Need and she was a thoroughly unpleasant human. At just 18 years old, Monica was a wild child on every level. The drinking, the sex with virtual strangers, the drugs, and the frequent disappearances with no contact were all perfectly normal for Monica but one terribly tragic event changed everything.
Flash forward five years and Monica Campbell is a whole new woman. Gone are the revealing clothes, gone are the impulsive and crazy decisions, and the bad boys are most definitely gone. Replacing all of the wild and crazy are a Master’s degree, ridiculously sensible clothing, and completely boring men who do nothing for Monica on any level. But, these choices are conscious, responsible, mature, and have served Monica well for the past five years. Too bad none of it is making her anywhere even remotely close to happy.
Cal Hughes has made a life out of not sitting still, of traveling the world on a whim, building and rebuilding vintage cars, and never, ever settling down. Women are easy to come by but there is one woman Cal has never, ever forgotten, Monica Campbell. Imagine his surprise the morning she walks right back into his life. Or, at least a version of her walks right back into his life. The Monica Cal remembers is hidden behind a lot of awful and Cal determines immediately it is his mission and duty to bring the old and exciting Monica back out into the bright light of day. And if he is very, very lucky, he’ll also get to see a whole lot of her during the night as well.
Cal is bad boy through and through and Monica knows she has to avoid him at all costs. Cal represents everything Monica has worked hard to overcome but damn, the man is some kind of sexy and knows how to play Monica like a well-tuned violin or a beautifully rebuilt car. Speaking of cars and playing . . . . you’re going to like that scene, dear reader
Little by little, Cal puts some cracks in the ice queen’s façade but those cracks seem to reseal after each and every sexual encounter. Monica is warring with herself on every level and if she admits her true feelings for Cal, the world she has spent five years building and living in is going to come crashing down around her. While Cal is all for the great crash, if and when it happens, there will be fallout and Cal isn’t quite sure he’s strong enough to handle the fallout. The fallout may include having to consider settling down in one place and having to admit he has more than just the naughty feelings for Monica Campbell. Trouble is, admitting those kinds of feelings will open up a whole other can of worms out of which will fall baggage and emotions that are generally best left stored away. Yeah, both Cal and Monica have some issues they need to work out.
The Bottom Line: Monica and Cal are fantastically hot and the back and forth between them is as funny and heartbreaking as it is steamy. Monica’s “transformation” is commendable but it is when she finally realizes there is a middle ground in life that she becomes pretty amazing. Cal is smoking hot and absolutely the best man in the world for Monica. Though he has demons of his own to deal with (including his spectacularly wretched father) he still manages to work them out and be there, in every way possible for Monica. Together, Monica and Cal just about perfect and it was hard for me to put down their story. Many of the cast of characters from His Every Need make appearances in His Kind of Trouble and I generally liked them all with the exception of Allie. I liked her well enough in book one but in this instance, I can do without that uppity bitch!! Give me Monica any day In all, His Kind of Trouble really upped the ante which means book three, His to Keep ought to be nothing short of outstanding!!
I received this book for free from the Publisher at NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I seem to be reading more of this genre lately, and I'm quite glad I read this one. The story itself is a little different to the usual "catch a billionaire" storyline.
What did I like? I liked how Monica was relatable as a character. Yes, she has her flaws. After going through hard times, she makes a lot of mistakes in her life with the whole "naff it" attitude (which I'm sure we can all relate to!) But then she vows to change her life around, another thing I think we can all relate to. The key to Monica's story is trying to find the right balance. I really liked this because it's something I think everyone can relate to. When someone dies, or we experience a trauma, our lives are turned upside down. What do we do? We try the safe options. Monica is no different.
I liked how this book was primarily about Monica's journey of self-discovery. I feel it gave the book an edge that makes it different to the other billionaire stories.
The sexual scenes were quite intense, they were well-written and couldn't fault them. You feel like you can feel the steam through the pages and the "connection" they both share.
What didn't I like? Some points in the book lacked tension. Granted, when it did have tension it was great and I couldn't put the book down... but when it didn't, I could have put the book down and not picked it back up. That's why I've given the book four stars instead of five.
I'd recommend this book to anybody who likes a realistic billionaire story, on that could actually be true rather than only in your dreams.
ARC Review: His Kind of Trouble by Terri L. Austin
His Kind of Trouble is one of those story's that is both raw and gritty in places, and heartwarming in others.
Monica Campbell is young woman still dealing with the loss of her beloved mother to cancer, although the rest of her family seems to be moving forward. She is rebellious in the beginning and wears on her older sisters patience, as she tries to finds way to cope with the changes taking place around her.
Enter bad boy Calum Hughes. Calum/Cal is used to doing what he wants, while still being the one to manage his family. He has a career he is passionate about and doesn't want to be tied down in any way.
As the years pass, and Monica and Calum find themselves back in each other's lives. You find yourself wanting the two to find their way together. They both compliment the other and bring out the passion that they both need to face the world.
Austin does a fantastic job of showing the emotions a young woman goes through after losing a loved one to cancer. And creates characters that are very relatable.
Although both Monica and Calum come from wealthy families, they both want to reach out and help others. I loved how this showed throughout the storyline.
For all those who are fighting the fight ... 3.75 Adventurous Stars !!!
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the second in the series - and I have to admit I liked it a lot more that the first one!
Although Cal starts off somewhat misogynistic like his cousin Trevor (subject of book 1), he soon becomes much more appealing!
His un-peeling of Monica's protective layers is both sweet and very hot. As we learn more about her, and how life has become so carefully controlled, it is difficult to fault his attempts. These two damaged souls have to learn to cope with what they have always chosen to deny. We also get to see the wider family and context in which they have grown up. It works really well as it gives us a great plot line within which to watch them grow close. I am looking forward to the next installment of this series - my question is will it involve Brynne or Jules? or someone else entirely ?
This book managed to make me need a tissue, laugh out loud and get quite hot under the collar ... so be ready for a very entertaining read.
It took me a bit to connect with the hero of this story, and as a result I wasn't as invested in the outcome for this couple at the start. But as the story progressed, I liked them better together. Monica's personal growth in dealing with the death of her mother was well written. There was definitely some sexual chemistry between the couple and lots of steamy scenes for them together. A sweet ending and a happy ever after round out a solid romantic story, for this couple that go through their share of challenges but come out on top. 3 stars.
Note: a copy of this story was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for review.
His Kind of Trouble took my breath away as well as had me giggling, sighing, and squirming with pleasure! The cover alone caught my attention and I knew right away, that this book was going to be GOOD and I was NOT disappointed. I loved the delicious sexual content, the chemistry between the hero and heroine as well as the general storyline.
A definitely Well-written story with glorious characters, and a romance that is both wicked and sincerely sweet. Its no wonder that I gave this a DECADENT FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
Cal has some big balls, and Monica I'm not sure that girl knows what to make of him, “you’re a piece of work, asking me out and talking about blowjobs, with my ex sitting three feet away from us.” Cal really does not think highly of himself, “I’m pondering. I look so good naked, I should bless the world and walk around like this all the time, don’t you agree?” I liked this book Cal was funny and hot.
If you love sexy, British bad boys, this book's for you. Terri L Austin delivers another sassy, smexy smash in her Beauty and the Brit series. The hero, Cal, is looking to entice his ex-lover Monica back into bed. Monica's put away her bad boy days, but finds Cal's attentions hard to resist. I also really enjoyed continuing with the Campbell sisters as they put their lives back together after their mother's death. A fun romance with a lot of heat, perfect for a Las Vegas setting.
everyone seems to love this book but its just not doing it for me... they had 1 kiss at Monica's dad's wedding, met once! and never forgot about eachother even after 5 fucking YEARS?? are you shitting me?? This book is so unrealistic and the story is boring. . it bored me... im sorry im ranting.. but it bored me so bad i couldn't finish it.. stopped midway...
I didn't think I'd have much sympathy for Monica after everything that happened in the first book, but Austin definitely won me over. This series just keeps getting better.
It was such a pleasant surprise, how good this book is.
I particularly likes the dialogue, it was perfectly witty and masterfully written. The character is expertly written, especially Calum. I have known English guys whom talked and acted just like Calum, the careless attitude, the unconventional sexiness, the arrogance, the wittiness, the forever messy, too-longhair, the smouldering look, the loafer with tussles, no socks and oh! Let’s not forget the bright blue suit, expertly tailored of course (I know Calum doesn’t have it, but it is such a English thing)
It’s just, in my head, whenever I see a guy wearing loafer with tussles with no socks, the first thought in my head is ‘wankers!’. I know it is not politically correct and I am probably way too judgy for my own good, but it made me laugh when Calum in the book, wore loafers with tussles and thought himself looking like a rightful wanker.....and yes, it’s good to read a book, and realised I am not alone in my dislike in loafers.
This book is more insightful than I had expected, it dealt with grief and people with complicated family issues and showed how the characters dealt with them. None of the hero and heroine is perfect, they have flaws, they are real, they fall and and stumbled, and for their imperfections, they are perfect in my opinion.
This book is also very sexy, steamy and erotic, and the author had handled the sex scenes with such an expert finesse. None of the scene is repetitive, gratuitous or boring. The hero and heroine had plenty of sex scene, but each and every one of them is significant in the character development and they are all HOT!
Very well written book, off to buy more from this author. Thank you Terri, your book is fabulous, you are fabulous, write more please.
Read the first, liked it enough to buy the second. It did not disappoint. The chemistry between Cal and Monica was off the charts hot. Not to crazy about how Allie was presented, in the first book she was caring, not autocratic. Enjoyed this one enough to buy the third book.
I love a British millionaire!!!!!!! Very good book. Steamy in all the right places. We get to see a little of Allie and Trevor from the first book. Good storyline. Terri is an author to watch out for.
4.5 stars! Loved this one about Cal and Monica! Very spicy read! The end was predictable but still so good! Couldn't put it down once I got about half way through the book.

I had such a fun time reading this book! This is actually the second book in the Beauty & The Brit series and I didn’t have a problem picking up right in the middle of this series without feeling like I missing something in the previous book. This installment follows Monica Campbell and Calum Hughes and how they find everything they need in life in themselves and each other.
Monica is a self-professed former “bad girl” who was quite reckless and wild. She caused quite a bit of havoc on her family when was younger, so now as an adult she believes that she needs to atone for her sins. She does this by transforming herself into the most boring version of herself ever. She wears shapeless and colorless clothes, unlike the fun and bright things she used to wear when she was younger. She works for her sister and pretty much does what she’s told, instead of speaking up and following her dreams and instincts. Basically she isn’t be true to herself.
Cal runs into Monica and is still instantly attracted to her just like he was all those years ago. Monica feels the same pull, but refuses to give in because she believes that Cal is someone who would make her lose control and give into her bad girl ways again. Cal is a charming, cocky, confident, arrogant alpha with a delicious British accent and a wildly free spirit. He can never stay in one place for too long. Even though he doesn’t really know Monica, he can tell right away that this version of Monica isn’t the same woman he briefly met all of those years ago. And he promptly calls her on that every chance he gets. Right from the start Monica and Cal have this hilarious back and forth witty banter that kept me laughing through the whole book.
Because of their smoking chemistry their chemistry in the bedroom is pretty hot. I can say that Terri L. Austin really knows how to write a sex scene! I love the dirty talkers, and Cal Hughes did not disappoint. I love how he pushed Monica to be uninhibited in the bedroom when she wasn’t able to be in any other area of her life. He has a small inkling as to why she has drastically changed her persona over the years, because he too is running from something in his past. Monica and Cal are sort of kindred spirits, both of them running from their true selves.
Monica is so hesitant to get into a relationship with Cal because she needs someone who is dependable, that she can lean on and that will always be there for her. Cal is notorious for being flighty and not being there when his family needs him. But Monica can’t resist Cal.
There was one scene that I really loved, where Cal pushed Monica to confront everything that she had been holding in for years and why she changed herself so much and became such a people pleaser. Even when she became really upset, he still didn’t let her run away. And Monica shows Cal that he isn’t the egotistical, self-centered, jackhole that he portrays himself to be to his family and to the world.
I definitely plan on reading the next book in this series when it comes out next year and I can’t wait to go back and read some of Terri. L. Austin’s other works.
I loved Terri's first in this series, His Every Need, and at the end there was a sample of this one and I was keen to read. we see Monica a bit in the first book, now in this one we meet a different version of her, a more subdued, watered down Monica. what’s made her like this? Cal can’t believe how much she’s changed and he doesn’t feel its for the better. He thinks she’s existing now whereas the Monica he met was living life to the full. Cal is a great lead, hot and so full of life. He’s had his own issues though and reminds Monica too much of the bad boys she’s sworn off. Still, he’s hard to resist and eventually she gives in to his persistence, telling herself its just lust, sex and she’ll stop before getting hurt or letting her emotions get involved. Cal’s OK with that, he doesn’t do love, doesn’t do relationships and all the responsibility that comes with him. he likes his life as it is, with his business restoring old classic cars in the UK and his trust fund allowing him to take off anywhere in the world at whim.
So, there they are, both really enjoying the very steamy and sensual sex, and kidding themselves that’s all it is...then life steps in, things go wrong and they’re forced to reassess. Monica in the first book was a happy, no holds barred, full on fun girl and she’s so changed. I wanted to know what happened and when it was revealed I felt so sorry for her. she’s forced herself into the mould of a person she really wasn’t, at the cost of her own happiness. Cal seems very “playboy” lightweight, and its how his family regard him, and yet as we get to know him he’s so much more and I really really wanted him and Monica to work things out. They were perfect for each other. There’s some snippets with Allie and Trevor in, and it was good to catch up with them. Its put me in the mood for a re read of their story. The books really complement each other, and as there’s a third sister, Brynn, I’m hoping she gets a story too – there’s a hint, I think anyway – of who might drop in to her life ;- ) Its a fun read, hot and sexy, easy to follow, with some great characters and some very sensual and erotic sex scenes. the drama part was good too, nicely balanced with all the fun and happy parts. I need that contrast, the “down” part and find it makes the good parts even better. Without the balance for me its not a good read.
Stars: Five, a sensual story without going OTT on the sex scenes. Its a great blend of sex and story, with neither dominating and that’s exactly what I need.

A great story about second chances, this hot and complicated romance made me want to find more from this series–and I think you will too!
Monica had lost more than a parent when her mother died. She’d lost her sense of security, her dad had basically disappeared, and her older sister had turned into a stern taskmaster instead of a playmate. Acting out had only gotten her into trouble, and when she’d finally pushed over the line in one catastrophic event–everything had come crashing down. She’d spent the last few years “behaving” herself–but you wouldn’t know it from the criticism she still gets. When are they ever going to let her forget it?
Cal had been one of her favorite mistakes–a bad-boy on a motorcycle with a British accent and an amazing ass–and they’d nearly hooked up years before at her dad’s wedding. The attraction’s still there when he shows up this time, but she’s older and wiser now. She’s not that girl anymore…or is she?
She’s got to resist him!
Cal can’t believe how much Monica has changed. What happened to the flirtatious, funny and hot girl? She’s locked down in somber clothes and working way too much. But when he catches her checking out his ass, he realizes the old Monica may not be completely gone…so he sets out to “free” the girl he remembers. But what’s going to happen when he falls in love with her? Is he ready to make a commitment? For someone who’s always lived his life as a carefree vagabond, getting tied down is the last thing he’d planned on.
The action is this book is funny and hot, but the best part of the story is the internal development that happens to the characters and between them. They each need to grow up and leave the past in the past–so they can move on and become the people they need to be. It’s a great story that’ll warm your heart as well as keep you reading until the great ending. Thanks!
I discovered Terri Austin with her Rose Strickland Mystery series a couple of years ago. I enjoyed her work so much, that I was happy to follow her into a new genre. In His Every Need, we are introduced to the Campbell sisters of Las Vegas. They had recently lost their mother after a long battle with breast cancer. When their father lost their house to Trevor Blake, British tycoon, Allie went to plead their case. This book centers around the middle daughter, Monica and Calum, cousin to Trevor.
Though many of the characters from the first book are back, this story takes place 5 years after the events of that book. So for the most part, you could read this as a stand alone, without missing much.
Monica has grown up, settled down and works as the coordinator for the breast cancer foundation named for their mother. She's sworn off bad boys and works hard to make up for her years as a wild child.
Calum is in town to visit his mother. He can't help but remember Monica from the last time he was in town and their incredibly hot make out session in the garden at her father's wedding. When he sees Monica again, he decides that he will do whatever it takes to bring back the woman who was so alive that night.
The tone of this book was different than the first. In the first, Trevor was definitely had the Alpha vibe going on, where Calum is more the laid back charmer. Allie and Monica are two very different personalities as well, almost complete opposites. I found myself enjoying this one more than the first with the flirtiness between Monica and Calum allowing for some excellent dialogue moments. I gave this book 4 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read and review the book.
Five years ago, Monica and Cal met -- but during a time in Monica's life where she was the wild child, the one who hadn't a care in the world. Her father remarrying was a sore spot that she wasn't afraid to show off -- which likely added in her wild-child, acting out ways. When bad boy Cal ends up at the wedding, her eye is drawn to him -- and later, if it weren't for her sister putting a stop to it, she would have done more than kiss him in the garden.
He's back now -- but she's changed, and damned if that doesn't bother him.
What I loved the most about Cal was that while he noted and appreciated that Monica had grown up in the past five years, he wanted the girl with the wild abandon, the crazy hair, the fitted clothing. He liked the new Monica... he just wanted to see her merge with the old one.
These two were fun to read about. Monica was trying to be grown up and took on projects that painted her in a more positive light, but at the core of her was that wild child -- the one that her mother had accepted but she, herself, was having a hard time allowing out.
This was a well-written read, with fun times and sexy ones, too. I loved Monica and Cal's relationship, just as I loved all of the Allie and Trevor (Brynn too!) scenes. I didn't read Allie and Trevor's story, but their love seems like it was a fun adventure, too.
An additional note -- I appreciated that while the author didn't put a huge emphasis on Monica's distaste for Karen throughout the story, she did make a note that Monica grew to accept her over the years. The story wasn't about Monica's relationship with her stepmom, but equally, as it held such importance at the beginning, I was happy to see it touched upon and not forgotten about.
