This book brought back so many feelings about why I always wanted to be a vet growing up. It was funny and sweet with some good life lessons mixed in. It wasn’t necessarily a page turner, but gave me a lot of warm, fuzzy feelings every time I picked it up. It was also interesting to learn about the tools, medicine, and technology veterinarians were working with in the early 20th century.

James Herriot pen name of Alp White, the author of the James Herriot series, and this collection. He is a veterinary in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s. These are the wonderful stories of his life, of his family, of his partners and his practice.

It’s a pleasant time and wonderfully told stories. The personal relationships with his family, partners, farmers and the animals he treats are a very pleasant read.

It brought back memories of dealing with sick and injured animals with my Uncle, and then later with my Father. Cattle horses dogs donkeys and cats.
