The world is dangerous place and sometimes it pays to be invisible.
Leona Graves has always been an outsider. Even at nearly eighteen, she’s never felt like she belonged. Her best friend is loud, likeable, and boy crazy. Everything Leona isn’t, and in a family of Paranormals, Leona is just...ordinary. When three hot boys show up at her school, Leona starts to feel the heat. Temperatures rise when they start showering her with attention and looking at her like she’s special. Something she doesn’t know how to handle. Leona’s heart becomes entangled in a tug of war that can only end one way. Heartache. Thorne, Castor, and Hunter know all the rules of being a shifter. They’ve grown up waiting for the moment that defines everything a shifter is—the moment they find their mate. After a life of loss and pain, the last thing they expect to find at their new school is their mate. There’s only one problem… She doesn’t feel a thing. But if the boys know one thing, it’s that you can’t fight fate. How far will Thorne, Hunter and Castor go to make Leona see who she truly is? Are they willing to risk it all?
Searching is a MMFM #whychoose novel, part of the Hidden Truths series. This is book one and they must be read in order. There is adult content in this book and it is not meant for readers under the age of 18. This books ends with a HFN. This book is a Spin Off of The Road to Truth Series. You do not have to read that series to enjoy this book.
I feel lied to. This is definitely not a standalone book and without having read the original series (road to truth) by the author, all the inside jokes and comments just went over my head. I was so confused about the backstory of everyone and honestly felt the author either should have given more details or less time to the side characters. It completely alienates new readers.
This is the main reason I am giving it such a low rating.
Furthermore, I felt because of all the knowledge I was supposed to have from the other series the book felt very stilted and tell (not show) in its writing. Perhaps I’d have felt differently without 6 books beforehand, but without I just wanted more description, more for the reader to work out!
For the little I received in background about the actual characters, there were pages and pages dedicated to why FMC’s school has these super specific special rules with their car parking (why was this relevant???) and how there is no social ladder! (Once again - did it add to the story?)
Regarding the harem potentials:
I only liked one of them (who actively persuaded a relationship with the FMC)
However, (spolier) the other two only disliked her because they thought she was lying about being human, when she didn’t know she was paranormal. Are we seriously to believe such intense hatred comes from that? It felt like forced fighting for drama’s sake and could have been resolved in a way that doesn’t make me wish this was a non-RH romance now.
And do not get me started on the inconsistencies in the plot! Such as FMC ‘ooo I wonder if wolf shifters exist’ - few pages later talking about supernaturals such as ‘vampires and WOLVES’! No way she wouldn’t know wolves didn’t exist! And this comment was promptly forgotten in the ‘big’ (*read dull) reveal of her supernaturalness. Honestly I think I learnt more about some security system and the history of her school’s architecture then the actual FMC’s personality!
(Spoiler) P.s the author pointlessly kills off the BFF and the FMC barely seems upset by it! Like we see her cry once! That type of grief would affect everything and the excuse we hear is how the FMC was barely upset when her own mum died (once again wouldn’t know - I DIDN’T READ THE FIRST SERIES)
Honestly the only reason this book is getting two stars is because I finished it. Possibly out of intrigue for how deep this rabbit hole could go.
This was a great start to Quell Fox's newest series. The story follows Leona (Lenny's sister). We get to see a lot Friday and her men again (The Road To Truth series). Which was amazing! You don't need to read The Road To Truth series to understand this book. I highly recommend this book and all others by Quell T. Fox.
This book was fantastic!!! You fall in love instantly with it from the very beginning. There’s intrigue, great characters, wonderful story line, love, wit, drama, heartbreak, suspense and steam. What more could you ever ask for. Leona is an awesome FMC who has been through so much but pushes forward with her head held high no matter what life throws at her. A loving family and hot as sin mates. Even though you want to knock a couple of them upside the head lol. But you learn to love them. I highly recommend this book. You definitely won’t be disappointed. Amazing work Quell T Fox! Thank you for your awesome books.
A spin-off (continuation) of the Finding Friday series which I loved. This time we are following Lenny’s sister that he rescued in the last series. This poor gal went through hell and as a child. We follow her years later in High school as she navigates finding her own relationships. Lots of mystery as to her true identity that has you on the edge of your seat. Can’t wait for the next instalment as it ends a bit abruptly. Love the world Fox has built.
Searching is the first book in the Hidden Truths Series which is actually a spin-off series from The Road to Truth Series which is a six book completed series. I absolutely loved this book! It hooked me in right away and got my attention. I also love how we get to see the character from the first series because I adore them too. Leona finds out she may have not one but three destined mates. You'll definitely need to keep reading to find out how their story ends.
First of Hunter need a right slap in the face. How he is mated to Leona..now that is out the way this book follows the hardships of Leona life from when she was born to when her mother died and she goes to live with her brother lenny and his family to finding out she is a paranormal and has three mates....I just love Lennys and Leona brother and sister relationship considering they both had bad childhoods unfortunately her mates need to do some grovelling in book two welk maybe only two of them
Totally unexpected. At age seventeen, and a senior in high school Leona meets three guys from a neighboring high school. Their school has been damaged and must be rebuildt. As soon as she met them, she felt a connection. Who knew you would meet your mates that young. Who knew you would have more than one mate and not all would be on board with the mate thing. Leona knows she is human. She can't have paranormal mates?
So I liked that the old series people were in this book so much. You don’t have to read the first series to understand this one. I just enjoy that part since I liked the first one so much.
Did not like that this book reads line it has different POVs. We don’t get the first one until chapter 23 and I think we get a total of 3. I love multiple POV books.
So not as good as Friday’s story but I will keep reading this series.
I really liked Leona. She is a strong FMC, she stands up for her beliefs. I haven’t read the series that this is a spin-off of, but I didn’t feel lost. I didn’t really feel like the high school environment was realistic - I don’t know of any schools that don’t have mean girls/bullies. And honestly, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed this except it was explicitly talked about a couple times (how no one tolerates meaness). The guys - I really liked Thorne, but Castor and Hunter are jerks, and I really felt like they need to apologize more than they did. We don’t really have much their POV, except for a couple of Thorne’ and I think one of Hunter’s, so it’s hard to feel for them. I did really like this story overall, my heart hurt for Leona, especially after one major event, I loved her family and I will probably be checking out Friday’s story. I will definitely be looking for book 2. I liked that this story didn’t end on a cliffhanger, it ends with things still needing to be dealt with, but everyone is kind of in a Happy For Now. Luckily book 2 is out in a few weeks :)
This book wasn't for me. So much of the beginning sequence of the book was explaining for pages - not actual dialogue or description or action - just explaining the backstory. I understand that sometimes there's background info that needs to be imparted to the reader, but info-dumping it all at once within the first few pages of the book is never the way to go.
I grew bored quickly waiting for the story to start. The explanation made it feel like the narrative was meandering along at a trudge, and I just couldn't get past it. I didn't feel engaged or drawn into the story, and I knew more about the different types of supernatural the main character's family were than I did about who the main character was. The narrative voice also sometimes broke the fourth wall, directly addressing the reader, which… just isn't a thing I enjoy.
In the end, I DNF'd the book because I was bored. There will be some readers who can skim past the slow beginning and go on to enjoy the book, but I'm not one of them. I felt like I was wasting my time.
Man, I slept on this series, and I hadn’t seen it recommended anywhere and that is a dang shame. The paranormal element to this is something I had not read before. It didn’t take me long to figure out there is a series before this one. I will be reading that after this series is done. The characters are great, I am loving the chemistry and the world building. I will warn you, this book will make you cry. Not through the whole thing, but yeah, you have been warned. I like that Leona is soft, it will stand up when her back is against the wall. Cannot wait to see what happens with her, Thorne, Hunter and Castor.
This book was great. I love the relationship Leona with her bestfriend Lina, it was unfortunate the way she died. The relationship she has with the only family she's known is great overly protective but it's better the more she is protected because there are some bad people after her.
Thorne is goin to be very good for her in the long run and her other mates Hunter and Castor will be great as well as soon as they come to their senses.
This book was just ok for me. It moved really slow, but that wasn't what earned it a two star. This book fell into the trap of making one of the guys irredeemable. If the mfc forgives him for being an ass (which she does with no apology from him) she just comes off looking TSTL. There was also the fact that she really only had a relationship with one of the guys. There was absolutely no chemistry with the two other guys.
I love a good PNR book and this one isn't like the others. Three distinct personalities among the male shifters makes it so much more intetesting. I love the concept of harems being the norm for paranormals. Awesome female lead with lots of layers. All these characters are so three dimensional, it's hard not to love and understand them all. Funny. Intense. Sad. Well written. Complex without giving me a headache. I can't wait to get into the next book!
This is very much so a young adult book. In saying that I've read a few that seemed a bit more grown up. A lot of names are thrown in there making it feel like we are missing a whole other book and a world build. There is a lot of teenage angst but I will commend the author on NOT making the heroin TSTL but she is dazed a lot. This is a serial but I have no urge to read more of it, the plot is too weak.
The characters in this book have the same personalities of a teenager even though they are paranormal. It is nice to read character traits that you would see in someone you know. I felt Leona’s loss when tragedy happened and I felt her come alive when she finally let herself have love. I would be friends with her brother, her “uncles”, and her “aunt” in real life. They are relatable and I’m excited for their story to be told
Here’s the thing: you cannot read these as a separate series from the other one. This is a spin-off, but there’s too much history from the other series interwoven into this series for it to be independent. If you haven’t read it—you’ll need to or you’ll be confused/information overload.
ALSO, I made it to book 4 before I gave up because Leona is stupid as fuck. Time after time she makes poor decisions and throws nonstop tantrums. No thanks.
I really enjoyed this book, it did take me a while to get into it properly as the FMC annoyed me abit to start with. But ended up loving her. I loved her brother and her uncles and Friday of course. Loved the storyline. Their were a few errors within the book but nothing major.
This is the first book in the follow series to the Road to Truth one. It has all the same great characters and new ones too. It also has the same intriguing air of mystery, the same electrifying type of action and the same sizzling romance. This spin off did not disappoint. It was a great read. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I had to literally force myself to put my phone down and stop reading to get some sleep. I enjoy this world so much. First, I'm so glad that I get to spend more time with Friday, Lenny, Maddox, Callan and Alec, but Leona and her guys hold my attention all on their own. Despite the amount of frustration and heartbreak, I loved the beginning of their story and I'm excited to start the next book.
Starts good but halfway through it flips 180. Leona goes from never having a boyfriend to doing the deed within a few days. And the other two "mates" are complete assholes. I was hoping by the end they would at least apologize and explain their behavior but nope.

I loved this book, parts had me laughing, parts had me in tears and parts had me wanting to smack her mates across the back of their heads 😂. Leona has been through so much but has come out so strong, i can't wait to find out the rest of her story ❤
I really enjoyed this book! It’s a medium burn with an interesting and intriguing story. It was easy to read and I was never bored! I love the characters and the angst throughout the book. There’s some humor, tragedy, and a strong family feel! Will definitely recommend the book!
A good beginning to a series. Although the heroine came from a bad situation she has a great family unit. Her mates are slowly coming around. The wolves are the bad guys and her dad is the alpha. It will be interesting to see it all play out.
The story is good, but it is repetitive. The same things get told over and over throughout the book, I found myself skipping through many parts of the book to avoid repeat paragraphs. That's so annoying. However if you can get over that part, the book is decent.
This author is good at writing male characters that act so horrible to the FMC that there is no redeeming themselves. I never finished Fridays story so I should not have been surprised that I won’t be continuing this one either. Not for me
A good start to this new series, and you don’t have to have read the other series (Finding Friday) to understand it. I liked the characters, there was just a little too much pish and too little pull between a few of the guys and her?
I love shifter books and this has a little bit of everything, as in not just wolves. I love one out of three of the guys, the other two didn't really live up to mate statis, except at the end of the book. I only hope they will do better in the upcoming books.
I'm not into bullying romances. I've read a few that I liked but this series - yes, series - I've struggled with because of the lack of character growth. Some things are accepted instead of explained. There are issues with the the flow and lack of communication.
